7. How does my media product represent particular social groups? 2 CLASS AND STATUS: Working Class – I wanted my magazine to be a piece of enjoyment and help people to search for their dreams. The article featured in my magazine enforces this as its about ‘a normal teen’ who’s dreams came true due to determination. Working class people are often led to believe, unless their middle class, or privately educated they will not make something big of themselves. GENDER: Mainly Females – because of the styles of image and articles featured. The images are feminine, rather than sexual, like featured in my style model ‘Q’ . The article it’s self, focuses on emotional issues more than my style model does. I decided to develop ‘Q’s article by delving deeper into a artists life because this is what my target audience wanted to see. AGE: Teens and young adults. 15 – 25. The magazine is fun, the images have personality with in them rather than being airbrushed to the point of looking plastic. The Topic’s featured relate to this age group. (fashion, education, new bands, real life) rather than I world then know nothing about.
8. What kind of media institution would distribute my media product and why? 3 Order directly from www.rewind.com Music channel mentions about the latest issue. MTV, Chart Show TV, 4Music, The Box ect. Internet banners On radio 1’s website, spotify, youtube, facebook, 4music, MTV, twitter. Alternative music albums sales Including a small flyer promoting the magazine as a ‘must buy’’ for good music. An ITunes page Where by a member of the public can order a online copy straight to an ipod/iphone.

10. Who would be the audience for my media product? Fact File Name: Kathryn Age: 17 Years old. Gender: Female I like the artists the magazine promotes. It promotes a healthy way of leaving as well as showing good famous role models which is something we now lack in todays life. “ it’s clear that you have use the styles and conventions from your style models as it looks like a real music magazine would” Fact File Name: Sarah Age : 18 Years Old. Gender: Female The artists rewind feature is exactly what I like to read about plus the magazine is easily affordable ‘£3.60’ and easily visible from a shop shelf. Fact File Name: Hattie Aye: 16 Years Old. Gender: Female The layout of Rewind is so clear and an easy pleasurable read. The double page spread image is the strongest image and I like these unique style of images. “ I like the traditional red, white and black colour scheme and the genre of music rewind features” “ Rewind magazine includes the artists and features I expect to find in a typical music magazine.” 4
17. What have I learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? 6 Adobe Photo elements 4.0 Before: I had never used the software. I was unsure about it at to be honest I disliked it a lot. After: I am now familiar with the software and I believe I will continue to use it in the future. Microsoft PowerPoint Before: I have always used this software. Its easy to use and a create way of displaying work. After: I will still continue to use the software. Blog on Blogger Before: I had never this online account. Unlike photoshop, I liked it a lot. After: I wont use blogger again unless it is for school work. I am not a online blogger person however it’s a create invention for keeping school; projects all together. Photoshop is a advanced piece of software and it was hard to get to grips with. Learning all the tools and remembering where they were located was a main problem for me, but once I started to learn the task became a lot more easier. Blogger is such a simplistic software that it was so easier to negotiate around. I could access it anywhere I had internet therefore keeping unto date with the uploads was so easier. All I needed to do was create an account using my email account and create a password. So simple and easy. Power point I used for my evaluation to display my finding. It worked well. I was able to show my audience my evaluation as well as talking over it, adding additional information. Software
18. 6 Photography Front Cover Double page spread Dominating stance to show confidence so that the audience will buy the magazine. Medium Shot. Getting a little more up close the artist. Long shot. Same style as my style model. I wanted natural lighting so that the pictures remained natural, something I discovered target audience liked while researching existing magazines. Placing her hand round her mouth creates a pose like she will ‘reveal all’ I wanted warm lighting to create a luxurious feel to the photograph. I turned the main light out in the room and blocked all light from entering. I then turned a small night on and used the flash on the camera to capture the image.
19. 6 Photography Contents Page Contents Page I chose a plain wall to take the image. For this image I wanted a small rim of shadow around the artist, so that the image stood out. Close-up/ medium shot. I had a tricky task of cutting the image out using ‘magnetic lasso’ tool in Photoshop as the background was made up of students display work. Image was taken the school music room, using natural school lighting. Small Medium image.
22. C O N T E N T S P A G E MUSIC MAGAZINE. Rough Cut Final Removed the red boxes and replaced them with more neutral simplistic ones. Retook my images, to gain better quality images. Added red and black lines between the features, to fit my style model. Took out the ‘Eliza Doolittle image’ due to the model being unable to make the retake photo shoot. 7
23. D O U B L E P A G E S P R E A D MUSIC MAGAZINE. Rough Cut Final Changed the position of the title, from centred to Align left. Added the artists name to the left hand column to fill the empty space. Changed the title’s colour to black. Played around with the colours in the image to create a more natural image. Added a drop down letter. Removed the quote as I had two present within the article its self. Moved the introduction so that it filled the empty gap I had. Added more Questions. Made the quote stand out more by only using one. 7
24. F R O N T C O V E R MUSIC MAGAZINE. Drop the artists name down. Changed the colour of ‘Abbie Quinn’ font. I changed very little on my front cover because a gathered minimal response from my target audience about how I could improve the cover. The two little details I did change were suggested through the feed back sheets a received on my rough cut. Rough Cut Final 7
