This document provides information about an 8th grade language arts class that will study figures of speech over the course of a week. It includes details about the 28 students in the class as well as the learning objective to define types of figures of speech like simile, metaphor, and irony. American, 1 Hispanic, 2 Mixed
background,
3 IEPS, 1 Gifted student
Lower middle class
Mostly Christian
Mixture of Visual and auditory
learners
Students are reading on grade
level for the most part

3. OBJECTIVE
• My class will be able to categorize, illustrate, and define,
simile, metaphor, anaphora, alliteration, the three types of
irony, and puns, by the end of the week at 80% accuracy.

4. DAY BY DAY BREAKDOWN
• Monday: I will be addressing simile, metaphor, alliteration,
and anaphora.
• Tuesday: I will be going over the 3 types of irony.
• Wednesday: I will be teaching puns, and we will review.
• Thursday: We will begin our final project.
• Friday: Finish final projects and present.
