1) There are three types of muscle tissue - skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle. Skeletal muscle is striated and voluntary, attaching to bones, while cardiac muscle is striated and involuntary, found in the heart. Smooth muscle is non-striated and involuntary, surrounding organs. 2) Skeletal muscle is composed of long, cylindrical, multinucleated cells with myofibrils containing alternating bands of actin and myosin fibers that allow for locomotion. 3) Cardiac muscle forms the heart muscle and is made of branched, striated cells joined at intercalated discs, with a centrally located nucleus.
