There are two main types of libraries: school libraries which serve students and public libraries which are open to the general public. A book mobile is a type of library that takes books to people who live far from libraries. School libraries are typically located in the parish capitals or major towns. A library is a place where people can go to read books and access other materials.
Here in the Philippines, the next big-pop culture
wave after “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” for the travel industry might be libraries.
Better view: http://beingchiefofalibraryorganization.wordpress.com/wow-libraries-philippines-is-pop/
Only 20% of titles are on bookshelves and these are separated from workplaces. But if over 1.5 million scientific papers are written annually, maybe libraries of the future have to design new ways of accessing scholarly documentation. In this doctoral course we will discuss how.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Enter the text for the question. Put the text for incorrect answers in the boxes that are marked ‘incorrect‘. Put the correct answer in the box that is marked ‘correct’. Then select the correct answer text, right click, and set the ‘Action Setting’ for this object to go to the ‘correct answer’ of each question set. This is important. Otherwise, the exercise will not advance to the next question. If you have more than 4 choices, you may add one or two more choices, or you may want to eliminate one ‘incorrect’ box if you have only three choices. After you enter the text for both question and answers, you may choose to ‘randomize’ your answer choices by moving the answers around to a different order. The answer choices are constructed as ‘button’ objects and can be moved. To move the choices, simply single click on the object, and drag your mouse to relocate the choice objects.
