Purwa Seher presented on motivational theories X and Y to Mam Ifrah Syed. The theories were developed by Mc Gregor and look at how leaders perceive motivating their team members. Theory X assumes employees are unmotivated and dislike work, needing close supervision. Theory Y assumes employees are self-motivated, enjoy work, and are creative in solving problems.

Management?
 It is a manager's job to motivate
employees to do their jobs well. So how
do managers do this? The answer is
motivation in management, the
process through which managers
encourage employees to be productive
and effective.

 In the 1960s Mc Gregor a social
psychologist of MIT developed two
well known contrasting theories on
human motivation and
management theory X and theory
Y .
 Mc Gregor theory X and Y looks at
how a leader precept about
motivating his/her team members.

Assumes that
employees of an
organization or teams
members are
naturally unmotivated
and dislike working.

1. Employees dislike working and not put their
best.

need to be directed.

controlled and forced to deliver work.
