I was honored to facilitate a mini-strategic planning session for the Board of Directors of the Mother of Light Center serving the hungry, poor, and needy of Northern Virgina. I challenged the member of the Board to tune their mission, vision, purpose, and activities like a laser to elevate the achievement of outcomes
2. I want what You want, O Lord. By asking You for
guidance with complete confidence and faith that You are
helping me, nothing that I am called upon to do becomes
“too much” or “too bothersome.” Nor is there any room
for worry. I will find it easy to ask You each day to be a
partner in my work”¦to help me get things done”¦to
weigh my actions and decisions in the light of “is this
right?” “Is this just?” “is this doing Your will?”With Your
help I will make decisions better and faster, knowing that
You will not lead me astray. I will have confidence that, by
wanting what You want, I need not worry about the
outcome. So I will live my life, knowing that it is Your
will that I accomplish.
St. Ignatius de Loyola
3. Love the Lord with your whole heart and
soul and strength, and to love your
neighbor as yourself.
Renounce your own desires and ambitions
so as to be free to follow Christ.
Don't let your actions be governed by anger
or nurse your anger against a future
opportunity of indulging it.
If you are harmed by anyone, never repay it
by returning the harm.
Avoid all pride and self-importance.

Meeting norms
--Saint Benedict's Rule
4. --Saint Benedict's Rule
The first step on the way of humility is to obey an
order with delaying for a moment.
Obedience given to superiors is a gift from God.
The Lord made it clear when he said: He who
listens to you listens to Me.
The abbot or abbes...must understand that the
call of their office is not to exercise power of
their subjects but to help them in their needs.
If you act always after hearing the counsel of
others, you will avoid the need to repent of your
decision afterward.

25. Shout joyfully to the LORD, all you
lands; serve the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful song.
Know that the LORD is God, he made
us, we belong to him, we are his
people, the flock he shepherds. Enter
his gates with thanksgiving, his courts
with praise. Give thanks to him, bless
his name; good indeed is the LORD,

faithfulness lasts through every
generation.
