Obedience given to superiors is a gift from God.
The Lord made it clear when he said: He who
listens to you listens to Me.
The abbot or abbes...must understand that the
call of their office is not to exercise power of
their subjects but to help them in their needs.
If you act always after hearing the counsel of
others, you will avoid the need to repent of your
decision afterward.
