 How many of you have heard
of the Salvation Army?
 The Salvation Army is part of
the universal Christian
church.
 The organization's message is
based on the Bible.
 Its ministry is motivated by
the love of God.
 The main goal of the
Salvation Army is to preach
the gospel of Jesus Christ and
to meet human needs in His
name without discrimination.

Services serves Fayette,
Jessamine, and Scott
Counties in Kentucky
 It provides food, clothing, and
shelter to those in need
 Beyond this it provides
opportunities for everyone to
give back to their community
and help those who have
fallen on hard times or
suffered a natural disaster

 Whether it is shelter for
displaced families or a warm cup
of coffee for the poor the
Salvation Army tries to give back
at all levels.
 Hope and healing is the message
of The Salvation Army.
 For over one hundred years, The
Salvation Army has provided
social and spiritual services to
communities throughout the
world.
 The vision of The Salvation Army
has always been to lead men and
women into a proper
relationship with God.

 Bell ringers at Christmas
 The kettle tradition was started
in 1891 by Captain Joseph
McFee in San Francisco to help
fund a Christmas dinner for the
poor.
 Today, the Christmas kettle
stands as a symbol of service
 It is also a reminder during the
holidays that people do still
care for one another
 There are many ways to help
with this from donating
money to donating your time
to ring the bell at a location.

years, and over 110 years in
Lexington. This has made it one of
the world's largest providers of
social services, and one of the most
trusted.
 2. All funds donated to The Salvation
Army are used by The Salvation
Army. They connect your donation
directly to the point of most urgent
need.
 3. The Salvation Army keeps its
administrative costs low and gives
its donors full value for every dollar
it receives.
 4. The costs of the administrative
offices of The Salvation Army and
administrative staff are not charged
against funds donated.

 Is The Salvation Army rich?
 Yes and no!
 The Salvation Army is rich in the
quality of devoted service given by
its workers, the esteem in which it
is held by the public, and in its
Christian faith that is the
motivation for all that it does.
 But The Salvation Army is not
financially rich.
 It is a channel through which
money passes to provide for those
who otherwise would not be
helped. The Salvation Army
receives no funding from its
national office. The wide range of
services provided by the Army
locally, are funded by caring
members of our community.

 Why Do Salvationists Wear
Uniforms?
 The Salvationist wears a uniform for
many of the same reasons other
service-centered personnel wear
them. Whether the vocation is
police work, the military, an airline
pilot, or U.P.S. Delivery Driver, the
uniform is an identifier.
 A link is made between the uniform
and the one wearing it, giving the
viewer a sense of the occupation.
 When someone sees an individual in
a Salvation Army uniform, they
associate that person with The
Salvation Army; they see someone
whose motto is "Saved to Serve"!

 This is not an actual

were homeless and the
parents did not want
their picture taken

children playing ball

 Although a lot of the
people who attended
the Salvation Army did
not have homes, they
had a family at the
Salvation Army who
cares for each and every
one of them.
 Appreciate everything
and don’t be afraid to
help others out when
needed.
