Anthem For Doomed Youth by Wilfred Owen helps us open up our thoughts to be
able to look deeper into the meaning of how boys put their lives on the line to
protect their country. The poem is 14 lines with themes of war, religion and death. In
just two stanzas there is a rhyme scheme of ABABCDCD EFFEGG that is seen. The
first stanzarepresents the octave and the second stanza represents the sestet. Owen s
poem in the form of a sonnet puts the volta going from the first to second stanza by
connecting the battlefield to back home. Owen puts the poem together by having

God s Grandeur By Gerald Manley Hopkins
At the beginning of the 19th Psalm, David writes, The heavens declare the glory of
God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Gerald Manley Hopkins seems to
echo this theme in his poem, God s Grandeur. The interesting aspects of this poem are
a result of Hopkins different perspectives on nature. In the beginning of the poem,
Hopkins directs his focus on the glory of God through the lens of the world. There is
then a turning point where he diverts his attention to the problems mankind inflicts
upon creation. However, the closing of the poem involves him stepping back and
reflecting upon the eternality of God. God s Grandeur is interwoven with powerful
imagery that is evoked by elaborate double entendres that reflect the interaction
between humans, nature, and the eternal grandeur of God that surpasses Earth, which
though temporary, is under constant care from God despite our actions.
The first stanza provides an interesting dynamic between creation and man. Hopkins
writes, The world is charged with grandeur of God. / It will flame out, shining from
shook foil... (1 2). The first two lines provide an interesting double entendre. When

There are many films around that reflect Marxist theories, however one that seems
out of place, and as though it shouldn t, is Disney. There are many theories present in
Disney films, from feminist theory being reflected in Disney princesses to Marxist
theory being quite prominent throughout their films, but more so in films such as
Toy Story 3 and Wall E.
Karl Marx (1818 1883) was a revolutionary German economic theorist and
communist with many publications on sociology, economics and politics. Many

Horseys cartoon is controversial yet on point at the same time and that s one of

struggles all through her life. She is a fallen woman in the eyes of society. She
would prefer to live in her own imagination. Her name is befitting for her in that she
acts more as a woman of the night she would rather be out at night or in the dim
lights. She is a southern woman on all counts who lives in Laurel, Mississippi. Her
life has been full of disappointments, death, and sexual propriety. Through her

manifested in child welfare practices where aboriginal children are given to

some issues might be systemic in nature and you should work to overcome those
bias that people have. The more oppression someone has, the more intersectionality
