Facilitation – Be present, be kind, don’t assume anything, Be consistent, Respond to participants, Give good feedbackCollaboration – Discussion boards, web 2.0, Peer ReviewsAuthentic Assessments- Blooms Taxonomy, using real tools to help participants understand. Reflections are a MUST! I also like to use Web 2.0 tools. Introduce to teachers new ways to prove understanding. rock solid objectives linked to quality activities.Quality Feedback – Students need to have feedback on how to improve their work. Point out the great things they have accomplished, and point out what they can improve and give suggestions. Be courteous when doing this – as adults sometimes think constructive feedback is criticism. Teach your students how to give constructive feedback – this helps them understand your content at a deeper level – I need feedback as a facilitator – how am I doing, how are students doing, what can be done to improve the course. Pre-course Surveys, Helpdesk, Reflections, Choice, Course EvaluationsQuality Resources – Real images – not cutesy clipart when you are introducing new concepts, (flickr, Microsoft images). Presentation Zen: Blend of Videos and Readings. Not just one or the other – address multiple learning styles. This can be time consuming – if you cant find what you are looking for – create your own! Powerpoint ROCKS! Authorstream….Quality Design – Be consistent in course navigation, Course materials available – syllabus is the staple of the course, universal design, plan/test for mobile devices
