Tippee s Fiduciary Duty
The fiduciary duty to shareholders is also present in common law as a duty amongst two people
committing a transaction, where one who fails to disclose material information prior to ... a
transaction commits fraud only when he is under a duty to do so (445 U.S. 229). It then
describes that duty as a result of a fiduciary or other similar relation of trust and confidence
between them (445 U.S. 229). The importance of this fiduciary duty is clear, and it is uncontested
that Maher Kara owed that duty to Citigroup. By disclosing confidential information to anyone,
much less his brother, Maher Kara was in violation of that duty. Next, it is important to derive the
tippee s fiduciary duty as a consequence of the tipper s. 15 U.S.C. В§ 78t(b) broadly

Riot Grrrl Sociology
These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of
entertainment, but in other ways such as self expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia
Downes s journal article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power
relations in British indie music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist
movement, Riot grrrl, provoked young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of
culture, such as how punk was a male dominated genre. Hector Qirko agrees with this thesis as in
his article, (Consumer authentication of popilar music in the global postmodern), he explores how
music gains an identity through social means. Gillian Mitchell in his journal article (From... Show

looked at testing done by McLeod s and Taylor, to see how consumers react to recordings of Cuban

consumers identified the category that the music came from, in this case many of the consumers

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Character Analysis
In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter the character Granny Weatherall
has an interesting past that molds her personality. Granny Weatherall has many layers to her
character, ranging from a loving mother to an independent woman who refuses help when she
needs it most. Her life is constantly changing, and with it her personality and view on life shifts
as well. The short story is told through the eyes of Granny Weatherall in her last moments of
life. Being the independent woman she is, it is hard for her to grasp the fact she is dying and
there is nothing she can do to stop it, so she recollects on the parts of her life that developed her
personality. Granny Weatherall s complex personality and character depth causes her to become
such an amazing individual that has many different levels to be discovered and enjoyed. The
loss of Granny Weatherall s husband forced her to become an independent woman. Her
independence made her stronger and she displayed her stubbornness to strive any time she
could. Although she was a woman who was not extraordinarily strong, she tended to the land by
herself, such as when She had fenced in a hundred acres once, digging the post holes herself and
clamping the wires to upkeep her land (Porter 79). Even without a husband, she was able to do
many difficult tasks by herself. Mrs. Weatherall did not need help from others and often refused
it, even in her final moments of life Granny Weatherall told the doctor Leave a well woman
alone. I ll call for you when I want you (Porter 78). Granny Weatherall was able to raise her three
children, without the help of her late husband, and the children grew up loving their mother.
Granny Weatherall s level of commitment adds to her independence, due to the fact that after her
husband passed, she refused to marry again and continued to strive without a partner. Not only is
Granny Weatherall able to take care of herself, but she displays her compassion for others and
asks for nothing in return. Granny Weatherall s independence defines the amazing woman s legacy
of being capable of doing so much, without the help of others. Granny has an air of bitterness
around her, due to her being jilted and the loss of her husband and

Essay on How Heros and Villains Have Envolved Since...
Everyone has a different perspective today about heroes and villains than what they thought back in
the ancient times. During the ancient times, the Greek concept of a hero was different from our
own cultures. As the years passed, the overall concept of what a hero changed dramatically then
what they thought years ago. A herois a literary figure, of course, but here, too, we need caution so
that we don t misapply our own cultural ideas and standards to the ancient Greek hero.
You may ask, what is a hero? How can you describe a villain? But everyone will have a different
answer to these questions. We all have different points of views on what a hero or a villain can be.
What people thought a hero was back then is way different then what ... Show more content on

In this poem, Archilles is aware of the possibility of receive kleos. When Odysseus goes to see
Archilles, he catches him singing the glories of men . Archilles is acting as a poet and he is
singing the songs about heroic deeds. Odysseus offered many riches and prizes if Archilles will
return to battle. Archilles tells Odysseus (Iliad 9.410 416): My mother Thetis tells me that there are
two ways in which I may meet my end. If I stay here and fight, I shall lose my safe homecoming
but I will have a glory that is unwilling: whereas if I go home my glory will die, but it will be a
long time before the outcome of death shall take me. The songs that were sung for heroes of
ancient Greece and all the honors that were given to them in worship and festivals, such as
athletic festivals, celebrated in their honor, are attempt to give money for the death of the hero.
Because the death can never be made up, these honors were ongoing and never ending. These
festivals are preformed on seasonally basic and anyone who participates in this worship believes
that it will continue forever, and the hero to be immortalized, to live forever. What do people
define the word hero today as? Today a hero means someone who carefully thought out and
courageously overcomes a struggle, an obstacle for the help of helping others without any thinking
of any danger they put themselves in.

Hamlet And Agamemnon In Hamlet
The play Hamlet is more tragic than Agamemnon due to a stronger display of all elements of
tragedy, dramatic plot and character development, and its ability to gain audience sympathy.
Peripeta is used consistently throughout Hamlet as the narrative is full of unexpected plot twists.
For instance, after learning of Claudius s guilt, Hamletdoes not act on impulse but rather decides to
wait. Shortly after, Hamlet mistakenly murders Polonius which then leads to Ophelia s suicide.
Furthermore, all deaths near the end are also unexpected considering they were all mostly
accidental rather than planned. Queen Gertrude accidently drinks Hamlet s wine while Laertes is
cut with his own poison blade. On the contrary, peripeteiais not consistently used in Agamemnon
except near the very end. The initial chorus, conflict of Agamemnon s return and Clytemnestra s
welcoming are not representative of plot twists. However, they do reveal Agamemnon s past to
provide a better context for the audience. Regardless, peripeteia is not appropriately used as
Cassandra foreshadows Agamemnon s and her own demise. The only unexpected plot twist occurs
when Clytemnestra stands over Agamemnon s corpse while Aegisthus confesses that he took part
in the murder to avenge his siblings.
Additionally, hamartia occurs frequently throughout Hamlet as the protagonist passes up a few
chances to immediately kill Claudius. Some notable mistakes include agreeing to duel with Laertes
after killing his father, and also

Tuesdays With Morrie Response
When was the last time that you had a true heart to heart with someone? When did you last truly
feel an emotion? How many times have you sent a laugh to someone through the phone without
even smirking? The world we live in is becoming less and less human. As technologies develop we
develop with them and find ourselves to be lost without electronics. This is leading us down a path
that will dehumanize the modern population leaving the human race more like robots. I believe that
Tuesdays with Morriemay be able to help change the path that we are on.
The book Tuesdays with Morrie, written by Mitch Albom who is a sports journalist, was an
international best seller in 1997. Mitch ends up seeing in the news that one of his favorite old

emotions was another point that was right up in Tuesdays with Morrie. Morrie has learned
throughout his life that you need to fly immerse yourself in every emotion that you feel at least
once so that you can later recognize that emotion and you can say I don t have to let it control
me. I see it for what it is. (105). In the society that we live in today this is especially important
because technology is beginning to take over our lives making a screen, or a profile represent our
thoughts and emotions and not having ourselves actually see and wheel them. Phrases like lol,
omg, rofl and just about anything that anyone says on social media is more often than not false.
They may say that they are rollin on the floor laughing when in reality they may have smirked.

network. The objective of the report is to offer a proposed solution for a modern network that meets
the organisation s needs. A review of existing network was conducted; school management and
number of students were observed. Current network performance was provided by the management.
A physical assessment of the whole school was conducted. Findings The existing network is
exhibiting congestion, bottlenecks, poor speed and is not adequate for growth in line with company
strategy . There is no physical connection between the two buildings occupied by the organisation.
The school is already sharing information through a VPN site to site tunnel. The current VPN
approach throughout the school is not efficient. There is currently a disaster recovery opportunity
in place of school data. Recommendations An investment is required to form a physical network
connection between the school, Fibre Optic is suggested. An investment in layer 3 switching
technology is recommended to take advantage of the Fibre Optic upgrade An investment in

What Is The Role Of The Suffragettes In The Early 20th...
Suffragettes in the 20th century, such as Emily Davidson and Emmeline Pankhurst, used radical
tactics to achieve their goal of gaining the right to vote. Men were also involved in the Suffragette
movement. While many opposed, men like James Keir Hardie, head of the House of Commons,
devoted a lot of effort to help women gain the vote. The genius strategy and the support and funding
from men had gigantic impact in helping women gain the right to vote. In the early 19th century,
England had a small excess of women. There were around 400,000 more women then men. By 1911
that number grew to be around 1,200,000, meaning that a number of women were unmarried. While
many married women had a chance to influence their husband s votes, these unwed women

Women Of An Amorous Woman
In his The Life of An Amorous Woman, Ihara Saikaku traces the demise of a woman whose
thoughts and actions were controlled by insatiable lust and sexual desire. She begins as a wife and
then progresses to a court lady in waiting, a concubine to a feudal lord, courtesan, priest s mistress,
brothel prostitute, and, finally a streetwalker. Though courtesans did not play a major role in
ancient Japan, by the seventeenth century, the courtesan class was sanctioned by the government to
the extent that official decrees created a separate district to enclose them and put up physical
boundaries that mirrored the division between them and traditional prostitutes. According to
Chesemore in her essay, Women of the Floating World, as in all areas of Japanese life, attention
was paid to the distinctions in the rank of the various inhabitants of this world, and clearly the
courtesan reigned supreme (Chesemore, 1990). Saikaku writes that, because of her beauty and
talent, she had her choice of men, and in the streets she walks with her head held high and does not
step aside for anyone. Far from the traditional Confucian genderroles, the amorous womancan
afford to be haughty, as she was showered with gifts and other luxuries. In Japanese society, at
the time when these works were created, the feminine sexuality of a wife and of a courtesan were
seen as two dichotomous roles that could not possibly be carried out by a single woman, at least
in an ideal world. While it is true many

World War I And The Treaty Of Versailles
Have you ever wondered why World War II happened despite World War I being the war to end
all wars? World War I lasted four years and was very gruesome. Much of the Western Front was
destroyed and about 10 million people died. Germany ended the war by ceasing fire and making
an armistice on November 11, 1918. The Allied Power had successfully defeated the Central
Powers and America had accomplished their goal to end the war. After the surrender from
Germany, the Allied Power met up to make a treaty with Germany, however, Germany was not
invited to come and negotiate. The Treaty of Versailleswould soon be created and it would put most
of the blame of World War I
on Germany. The Treaty of Versailles contributed to the onset of World

There were four main leaders during the Versailles Conference and they were: Woodrow Wilson,
George Clemenceau, David Lloyd George, and Vittorio Orlando. Each of them had major goals
that would benefit them since the war was on their land. Vittorio Orlando, the Prime Minister of
Italy, worked to get the extra land for Italy. Originally, they would not have been able to do this
since Italy was originally an ally of Germany, but they switched over to the Allied Powers in
1915 and declared war on Germany. Italy was promised land as a reward for helping out and
switching over to the Allied Powers. David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister of Great Britain,
asked for justice and not for revenge. He wanted Germany to pay for the damages done to Britain
s military, Germany s colonies, and for Gremany to be stipped of its navy. He also helped Wilson
and Clemenceau compromise. George Clemenceau, the Prime Minister of France, wanted both
revenge and to punish the Germans. He wanted Germany to pay for the damage done during the
war and to weaken Germany so that they could never invade France again. He also wanted
Germany to give up Rhineland, Alsace Lorraine, and the Saar. Lastly, he wanted Germany to be
totally and permanently disarmed so that it could not attack other nations. Woodrow Wilson, the
President of the United States of America, just wanted to end the war by making a fair peace treaty.

Loggerhead Sea Turtles: Effects of climate change on the population of sea turtles.
Abstract
The effects of climate change and global warming have severe effects on loggerhead sea turtles
and various other marine mammals. The rate of climate change goes far beyond the abilities of
animals to adapt to these drastic changes taking place around them in their habitats. These
changes are predicted to cause an extinction of many species over the next few decades. (SEE
Turtles, 2015) The sea level rises from melting glaciers, and ice caps are already resulting in the
loss of nesting grounds of these loggerhead turtles. Extreme weather that is also linked to climate
change result in a chance for more severe storms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Feldman et al. 2015) This in turn not only affects the temperatures on land, but also the oceans that
are home to many cetaceans (i.e. Dolphins and whales) as well as other marine life such as seals,
and turtles. Climate change is an issue that is linked to human influences.
The loggerhead sea turtle is an endangered species exposed to many anthropogenic hazards in the
Pacific. It is believed that pelagic longline fisheries pose one of the major risks for these
loggerheads but the effects such as humanВinduced global climate change have rarely been
considered. (Chaloupka, Kamezaki Limpus, 2008)
The effects of climate change have enormous impacts on sea turtles. One of them being that the rise
in sea level will disrupt turtle nesting beaches. Sea turtles usually return to the same site where they
hatch to repeat their ancient nesting ritual. These direct impacts of polar caps melting, and sea
levels rising, these beaches that were once nesting grounds are starting to disappear completely.
(Conserveturtles.org, 2015)
A case study that was carried out a few years ago states that since 2005, the caribbean region has
lost 50 percent of its corals, mainly due to the effects caused by the increase of temperatures.
From 1997 to 1998, mass bleaching is estimated to have caused severe effects to 16 percent of the
world s coral reefs. Even though signs of recovery have been seen in

We Shall Overcome Rhetorical Analysis
Martin Luther King Jr. once said that, Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it
must be demanded by the oppressed. During the time period (1850s) in which Frederick Douglass
gave a speech entitled The Hypocrisy of American Slavery, slavery was still a prominent feature of
American society, especially in the Southern States. Douglass, like many others, was an abolitionist,
someone who advocates the abolition or ending of something, such as slavery. Douglass s speech
was intended to shine a light on what he called the hypocritical practice of slavery within the United
Statesof America. Lyndon B. Johnsonon the other hand, was the 36th president of the United States

In We Shall Overcome, Johnson also employs pathos when he asserts ...we are met here tonight as
Americans not as Democrats or Republicans. We are met here as Americans to solve that problem.
By using restatement of the phrase we are met here as Americans, Johnson develops the literary
device of pathos by eliciting feelings of patriotism within his audience. The feelings of patriotism in
turn call for compassion based on equality from Johnson s audience. In addition, by saying the term
American, Johnson s audience would be able to realize the nature of the treatment of fellow
Americans (African Americans such as Martin Luther King Jr.) and possibly lead to change.
Overall, the application of pathos by Douglass and Johnson sparks emotions that can lead to societal
transformations. Douglass and Johnson use parallelism, which is the use of components in a
sentence that are grammatically the same, and they also use anaphora, which is the repetition of a
word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses, to further their arguments to affect change in
their communities. For example, in his speech, Douglass, when speaking about what African
Americans do, states ...digging gold in California, capturing the whale in the Pacific, feeding sheep
and cattle on the hillside... which is parallelism due to the structure of the phrase, beginning with a
verb and leading

Mayan Civilization Disappearance
What Cause The Disappearance Of Maya Civilization?
The Maya civilization was an extremely mysterious and glorious ancient civilization. Most of the
Mayans were distributed throughout Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala. Mayans made a brilliant
civilization with the simple implement of production in the Neolithic Age, and they did not have
any metal tools or transportation. They left towering pyramid temples, majestic palaces, and finely
carved stone tablets. They also made many well made pottery and beautiful oblations. They created
an accurate mathematics system and an astronomical almanac system, and a hieroglyphic system,
which has still, not be decoded. As the only civilization that lived in the tropical jungle, instead of
large river valley, it is very strange and attractive that both its rise and decay were very fast. Maya
civilization disappeared and became a mysterious legend. The passion of finding out the answer of

enough to make a serious drought of Yucatan peninsula the heart area of Mayan civilization.
Research about the sediments from the lakes in the northern Yucatan peninsula, shows that a high
concentration calcium sulfate settled layer appears back and forth. The reason of formation of
calcium sulfate is a lot of moisture evaporates from the surface, the time interval is about two
hundred years, and it is fit the solar cycle: two hundred and six years. The structure of Mayan
society was very fragile when it faces to drought. Their major crop was corn and is relied on a

last for eighteen months. The further research expresses that, around 810AD, 860AD and

Evaluation Of A Juvenile Drug Court Program
Research Article Analysis In today s society there is an enormous amount of research being
conducted throughout the world. A great many of those studies are occurring on Universities and
campuses, in this paper, analysis of one such study will be reviewed. The article is an evaluation of
a Juvenile Drug CourtProgram in Lexington, Kentucky. The data that is coming from the Bureau of
Justice suggests that juvenile courts process a higher volume of cases today than at any time in the
past (Hayden, 2012) These statisticsrepresent the trend in persistently high rates in use of illegal
substances among adolescents in the United States and subsequent juvenile court involvement.
[The purpose of this study was to examine these outcomes in criminal offending and substance use
for one of the first juvenile drug courts (JDC) in Kentucky, implemented in 2003 located in
Lexington, Fayette County (Hayden, 2012). This program evaluation was conducted using records
provided by Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) (Hayden, 2012). The concept of
a drug court was conceived in Miami Dade County, Florida by Chief Judge Gerald Wetherington in
1989. That court was for adults, and the idea was to provide alternatives to incarceration and
probation by affording offenders opportunities to get treatment with incentives and sanctions to
encourage sobriety and lawful behavior (Hayden, 2012). Due to the success of adult drug courts,

Why School Violence Have Such Of An Effect On Our Society...
Speech 131 T/TH 7:30 am Section 33282
Courtney Mathis ID # 2899247
Why does school violence have such of an effect on our society today? School violence is the
intentional use of physical force or power, group or community, with the behavior likely to cause
physical or psychological harm. Most school violence start from differences between teenagers.
Like for instance about some weeks ago this girl named Amy Joyner died over this boy. The
girls that jumped her was mad that she was dating one of the girl s ex boyfriends. It was not her
fault that the boy had no more interest in them and wanted to try something new. For the
careless actions upon the situation caused one girl to die and 3 charged with attempted murder
in the second degree. School violence is just a cry for help in need of attention because of the
home training they are lacking at home. I am arguing today we look past our differences and
actually communicate and come to some sort of agreement. Let your understanding speak louder
than your misconceptions. We as people have to own up to our mistakes and not make every little
thing an issue that causes another s life at jeopardy. In the article school violence by Jaana
Juvonen she states that Bullying and more serious violent behavior are not separate problems.
Childhood bullying predicts person oriented crime in young adulthood. How do you feel when
you lose another loved one due to violence? What if you try to make a change, but it has gotten so
worse

Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and

Rates of Reaction: Investigation
Experiment to investigate factors affecting the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbon and
hydrochloric acid.
Chemical reactions between substances are caused by the collision of particles. More collisions
mean a quicker rate of reaction.
In the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium ribbon, the chemical reaction takes place
when the magnesium ribbon is dropped into the hydrochloric acid. The products are hydrogen gas
and magnesium chloride.
The equation for this reaction is as follows:
Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid Magnesium chloride + Hydrogen
Mg (s) + 2HCL (aq) MgCl2 (aq) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I predict this because of collision theory.
There will be more particles in a solution of hydrochloric acid with a higher concentration than in a
lower concentration, in the same volume of liquid. This means that particles in higher
concentrations will collide with magnesium particles more frequently, therefore increasing rate of
reaction i.e. a shorter time measured for the magnesium to be used up in reaction.
I can predict that rate of reaction will increase with concentration of acid. The quicker the rate of
reaction, the less time the reaction will take to be completed.
Therefore:
Rate of reaction 1 concentration of acid
time taken to react
So...
Rate of reaction concentration
time taken to react
Plan
I am intending to react a chosen length of magnesium ribbon with different concentrations of
hydrochloric acid. I will measure the time taken for the magnesium ribbon to disappear (be used
up in reaction) with a stop clock. This will be switched on when the piece of magnesium ribbon
is dropped into the hydrochloric acid seen to be reacting with the acid i.e. producing bubbles of
gas, and switched off when the magnesium is no longer visible no more new bubbles are being
produced.
Results will be recorded in a results table, with 4 readings and an average time for each
concentration value.
I will conduct a preliminary experiment to investigate the optimum length of magnesium ribbon to
be used in my experiments.

The eastern culture has taught people to be more involved socially unlike their counterparts or the
western culture. Barthelme a writer for a world renowned journal called International Cognition and
Culture Institute. The journal has many articles that compare eastern and western culture. In one
article Barthelme writes, When mothers and infants are observed playing with toys in their own
home [...] it is found that American mothers label toys and point out their attributes more often than
do Japanese mothers. By contrast, Japanese mothers tend to engage their infants in social routines
more than do American mothers. American mothers emphasis on labelling objects might lead
infants to focus on the objects and their appropriate categorizations whereas Japanese mothers
emphasis on social practices might direct infants attention to the relationship or to the context in
which the object is located (Barthelme). The family dynamic in the different cultures show that if
one day a person from each culture saws how the other acted they would judge. Richard M. Carp

The History Of Drinking Water
In an age when man has forgotten his origins and is blind even to his most essential needs for
survival, water along with other resources has become the victim of his indifference.
Rachel Carson
The water you see around you, flowing freely, sparkling in the noonday sun, quenching your
thirst, bathing you, providing you with life is all limited there is no place on this planet where
new water springs up from a source. Water has been recycled by nature over and over again since
time began. Our drinking water at one time or another was way up high in the clouds, or streaming
down a mountainside, or gushing out of Old Faithful. It cannot be created; it cannot be renewed by
planting a water tree; no such tree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, much of it is from such sources as fertilizer running off farm fields and motor oil washing
off highways. He concludes, It s not a matter of getting the attention of a few corporations and
cities. Now we re trying to engage a lot more people.
How Mr. Evans is going to engage a lot more people is never mentioned. Perhaps when we reach
critical levels of toxic elements in our water table than the people will become more involved.
Drinking water is different in that we take it into our bodies. We need this water to live. If the
water is undrinkable due to heavy metals, such as nitrates from farmers, or mercury from power
plants, or by pollution from some other source of industry than the available drinking water
becomes scarce. Informing the public is not enough to engage the people. Battles have been fought
over water rights for many years from the Plaines Indians, cattlemen and ranchers all the way up to
Mulholland stealing water from Owens Valley. Now the fight is between Environmentalist,
Industries and the Government. While they discuss whether EPA reports tell the whole story, there
exist an ever increasing demand for water from an ever increasing population. If the people are not
engaged in the process of conservation and prevention the water problem will only get worse.

HIV is not only spread through sexual contact. Sex workers are another common way for people
to carry the disease. The majority of the people do not know their HIV or AIDS status. There are
many solutions that may have worked in the past, but with a twist to this solution of people
living with AIDS and HIV. For the people who do not know their HIV and AIDS status, at home
tests would allow them to test themselves. This would give individuals the knowledge of what
their own status is if they were HIV positive or HIV negative. If the people were more educated
about their health and disease, these problems would not be so bad in Africa. Another way to treat
these people with the disease is by medications and antibiotics. In the United States, they are using

Cone Snail Research Paper
Creature Feature: Cone Snail
A tropical ocean dweller, the cone snail may seem harmless at first glance. Do not be fooled by its
iridescent shell and geometrically patterned exterior the cone snail is hypothesized to have the
potential of killing up to 700 humans with its venom. 1 Not only are its toxins an apt example of
antipredatory defense mechanism, the cone snail also forages with its loaded harpoon, ready to
shoot and kill before enjoying a scrumptious meal.
Based on molecular phylogeny, or genetic data, there are 329 described species of cone snails

snails are extremely carnivorous. In fact, it is likely that their colorfully decorated shells, ... Show

In order to fulfill its carnal hunger, the cone snail performs a deliberate task to munch on its next
meal. Firstly, it surveys the surroundings with its proboscis, a sensory tubular mouth part.
At this moment, the cone snail is actually concealed under mounds of sand so as not to alert its
potential prey. Seeing a possible snack, the cone snail will gently extend its modified radula tooth,
which looks like a harpoon, toward its prey. Though snails are thought to be slow, its harpoon
shoots at lightning speed, contradicting this stereotype. The venom kills most prey almost instantly,
and the cone snail is seen drawing the victim in with its radula tooth. Some cone snails even eat

Securing the Quality of Data
2.3 Securing the quality of data
Adopting explicit evaluation criteria increases the transparency of the research and provides the
researcher with the means to highlight the strengths and limitations of that particular research
(Eriksson, P., Kovalainen, A., 2008). According to Eriksson, P., Kovalainen, A. (2008), one of the
reasons that lead to a poor quality research is when a qualitative research is assessed with the help of
evaluation criteria adopted from quantitative research and vice versa. Conducting a quantitative
research requires gathering data from a large number of samples whereas in qualitative research,
generally, data is collected from a relatively smaller number of participants and the focus is on
understanding the participants social world in depth through probing, asking questions and case
studies. When conducting a qualitative research, the question shouldn t be How many interviews
do I need to do to get my theory accepted ? According to Eriksson, P., Kovalainen, A. (2008), by
asking this question, the logic of quantitative acceptability enters into qualitative research. As
mentioned earlier, assessing a qualitative research with the evaluation criteria adopted from
quantitative research leads to a poor quality research and vice versa. Instead, when evaluating
qualitative research as a good quality research, the focus should be on the materials obtained from
the interviews, quality of the interviews and the logic through which a researcher makes

Strong Interest Inventory Reflection Overall, I feel that the Strong Interest Inventory assessment

theme descriptions seemed to relate the most to meet out of all the others. Throughout my life I
have found interests in business, leadership, organization, self expression, and communication.
After taking the assessment it was confirmed to me that my theme code is in fact an ECA. My
highest occupational theme was enterprising. I think this is accurate because of my interests and
potential skills. I have always found business to be interesting and have always seen myself in
the business field. In many situations, I often find myself motivating my peers and directing
others in many different projects and aspects of my life. I do however feel as though some of
the values may not fit me very well. For example, I would not necessarily call myself a risk taker.

New England Colonies
New England is the name given to the Northeastern location of the United States, encompassing
Massachusetts to Maine. The name New England comes from Captain John Smith, famous
explorer of the Chesapeake region, who wrote a piece about the abundance of resources and
wealth of the region in a propaganda piece, A Description of New England, in 1616. However, the
New England region that is known today is nowhere near a literal new England. Due to differences
in religious beliefs, climate and geography, and economies, the New England colonieswere vastly
different from their Crown and home. However, a few hundred miles south, the colonies around the

They were created for profit. When people started dying and no money was being made, the
colonies quickly learned how to sustain themselves and turned permanent. The area was ripe for
plantations and mass farming. Tobacco became the most desired thing out of the colonies, and
it could be sold at exorbitant prices. As more people heard of the wealth in the New World
farming, more people came to set up plantations. As such, more people were needed to facilitate
the farming: Slaves. The British looked to Africa and gathered chattel slaves, who were
prisoners; those sold out by other tribes, or even sold out by their own families. The slaves were
loaded up on a ship, sent to the Caribbean, and then sent to the colonies to be sold. The profits
they made would be shipped back to England, and the English would got to Africa to get even
more slaves. This triangular trade became a huge portion of the New World economy. As the
plantations grew in size, more people heard of the successes, and more people came. Not only
did people come just by hearing of the successes, the government of Virginia established a
headright system, or a provision that stated that any person who settled in Virginia or paid for the
transportation expenses of another person who settled in Virginia should be entitled to receive
fifty acres of land for each immigrant (Gentry). These incentives caused many people to flock to
the plantations to try and make money. The ones who came and who had a lot of land had, like
back in England, a lot of power. Aristocrats started popping up, gaining control of the areas around
them. Following the English way, these aristocrats became the ones in control of more or less
everything, be it land, government positions, jobs, etc. These aristocrats did not bother with schools
in the Americas, of which there were very few in the south, and just sent their kids back to England
to learn.

Complementarity In Wesley s Song, Wouldn T Change A Thing
Complementarity is defined as the popularly supposed tendency, in a relationship between two
people, for each to complete what is missing in the other. This explains the phenomenon of
opposites attract; people tend to be attracted to those that are different in personality than them
because their differences are complementary. The song, Wouldn t Change A Thing, by Demi
Lovato and Joe Jonas, represents the idea of opposites being attracted to each other, but yet, they
are complementary. The chorus states, Like fire and rain, you can drive me insane, but I can t stay
mad at you for anything. We re Venus and Mars. We re like different stars, but you re the harmony
to every song I sing and I wouldn t change a thing. The rest of the song explains that although they

here and there. This is not only flatter them, but to also get that specific person to like us back in

s song, Chivalry Is Dead, describes that act of a man being a gentleman towards a woman. So I
must open doors and make you feel like the lady you are. My momma raised me to be classy, not
flashy. I m happy to please you, though I can tell that s not what you re used to and they say
chivalry is dead, says Wesley. The message that the song is trying to get across is that today, many
women view acts of kindness as foreign and strange because unfortunately, it is common for
women to be disrespected more than ever; this explains the idea that chivalry is dead. However,
Wesley says that chivalry still exists; women should be treated with respect and although he acts
like a gentleman, that does not mean he will take advantage of

Narrative Essay On Health Center
Upon exiting my vehicle in front of the clinic, I noticed the usual group of protestors gathered at
the front entrance. Today was different, there were three men creating a cacophonous noise with
trumpets outside of the health center. Curious as to why they were doing this, I asked the health
center staff inside what was going on. Apparently, they were blowing these trumpets in the
biblical tradition as a warning or announcement from God. In Exodus, trumpets or shofars were
used to get the attention of the Israelites, and then in Jericho to bring the walls crashing down.
This display was intended to bring the sinful health center to a close. I had seen many different
groups protesting in front of our clinic in the past, some carrying graphic signs, others praying

Personal Statement For Dentistry
I am a naturally driven individual. I have always had an instinctual curiosity about the world
around us. My mother and father, who were both raised in rural Poland, showed me hard work
and commitment is the only way to find success in life. My mother came overseas alone to
support her family in Poland after her father passed, and my father came to the United States after
living and working on his parent s farm for ten years. My parents arrived in this country with next
to nothing, and fought tooth and nail to build a life and family. It is only through their perseverance
that I was able to live a healthy, happy, and fulfilling childhood. As a result of having such
incredibly strong role models, I have become a motivated, thoughtful, independent young woman. I

that I can do anything I put my mind to, no matter who or what may stand in my way, and my

Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types
In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea
that the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences
between individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears
to be random behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their
mental capacities. (The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in
one of two ways, take in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more
comfortable alone or around others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled
Psychological Types, which introduced the idea of personality and psychological... Show more

Introverts are people who spend time thinking and reflecting before they act. Their motivation is
internal, which might end up closing them off from the world around them. Introverts usually
prefer one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close
friends. Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational
position. Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them.
Personally, I believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days
ahead of time, and I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a
negative thing, I do tend to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get
to meet my goal of being a teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems.
Getting out of my shell would be a challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is
mostly geared towards others my age. I am usually very comfortable around people that are older
or younger than I am, which makes me believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to
overcome the challenge of opening up, being an introvert does have upsides, such as having an
urge to get things done. The next part of my INFJ combination is that I am intuitive. Being intuitive
means that I able to feel things that seem true by a feeling that is similar to instinct. The intuitive
brain wants to be able to

Ecology Personal Statement
My decision to pursue graduate study and research in the field of ecology comes from my
aspiration to become a leading researcher. I feel that the knowledge what I have gained in this
field is little. Therefore, to help me acquire a better understanding of this multi faceted field of
ecology, I would like to pursue my doctoral degree major in ecology.
During my undergraduate level, I have been fascinated with the field of biotechnology. It is why
I choose this field as my MS thesis research. However, after deliberate thought and careful study,
I changed my mind and have decided to build my career as an ecologist. My aspiration to pursue a
research based career in the field of ecology, and climate change, comes from my visits of the world

I was among the top performers in these courses in my class. After completion of my undergraduate
level, I started my steps towards research by joining the plant breeding and biotechnology lab where,
I completed my thesis entitled Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation of potato (Solanum
tuberosum L.) for the development of fungus resistance variety under the supervision of Professor
Dr. Rakha Hari Sarker. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have been involved with
several field studies. These studies included the flora of the world s largest mangrove forest
(Sundarban), ethnobotany of medicinal plants used by native and tribal people, inventory of the
plant diversity (herb, shrub, climber and tree) in an area adjacent to the University of Dhaka and
on Saint Martin Island. In addition, as part of my course requirement I have studied the flora of
Lawachara rainforest, Dulahazra Safari park and Remakelanga wildlife sanctuary. I have also
presented a seminar presentation on the effects of tannery wastes on the ecosystems of the river of
Buriganga . Field experiences provided me with the opportunity to explore real examples and to be
involved, physically, in a real world setting, which further reinforced my desire to explore the

Development And Evaluation Of Cognition Based Interventions
PhD upgrade overview In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the development and
evaluation of cognition based interventions (CBIs) for people with dementia in improving
cognition, and quality of life (QoL). However, little is known about the effects of these
interventions for carers who are actively involved and participate in CBIs alongside their relative.
In addition, it has been argued that engaging family carers in the therapeutic process is important
as it has the potential to improve mutual understanding and enhance carer well being. My PhD
research aims to evaluate the effects of carer involvement in CBIs for people with dementia on
carer well being. This report presents the progress my research which comprises... Show more

Chapter five describes a qualitative study which I conducted to explore the experiences and
perspectives of people with dementia and their carers while taking part in the iCST intervention.
Chapter six reports on my personal development and achievements and my PhD progress since
my starting date which was the 29th January 2013. Advancing age remains the single most
important risk factor for developing dementia (Luengo Fernandex, Leal, Gray 2010). It is
estimated that there are currently over 46 million people living with dementia worldwide
(World Alzheimer Report 2015), with a total of 835,000 people living with dementia in the UK
alone (Alzheimer s Society, 2014). Dementia is a major cause of disability for older people
(WHO, Dementia A Public Health Priority 2012). Dementia also remains a greatest challenge
for the society and has a huge economic impact on the health care system, people with dementia
and their families (Dowrick 2014). Alzheimer s disease (AD) is the most common cause of
dementia, accounting for up to 60% of all cases (Burns et al., 2006). AD is an age related
degenerative brain disorder which develops over a period of years, but is not a normal part of
aging (WHO 2015). AD can affect individuals in different ways, but for most people symptoms
begin by experiencing difficulty in remembering new information,

An Article On Effective Technology Use
Our classroom text states that qualitative research is the collection, analysis, and interpretation of
comprehensive narrative and visual data to gain insights into a particular phenomenon of interest
(Gay, Mills, Airasian, 2012, p.7). Qualitative researchers strive to establish validity by eliciting a
sense of trustworthiness through neutrality and objectivity, addressing the stability of data, and fair
and impartial evaluation (SaldaГ±a, 2013). Researchers favor this method due to its emphasis on
observing participants in their natural environment.
There are some in the research and education field that feel certain kinds of educational issues and
inquiries do not lend themselves to methods that employ numerical analysis and try to control
variables in very complex and controlled environments. Qualitative researchers on the other hand
state that findings should be resultant upon research done in real world settings in order to have
application in real world settings (Gay, Mills, Airasian, 2012). Research Topic and Purpose
Topic
The topic of this article explores effective technology use in the classroom and allowing teachers to
self question and unravel their own technology issues. Teachers are in essence the researchers as
well as participants. The author supports the use of technology in the classroom and he states that
the use of technology is a defining characteristic of twenty first century education and should be
required

It then describes that duty as a result of a fiduciary or other similar relation of trust and confidence between them (445 U.S. 229). The importance of this fiduciary duty is clear, and it is uncontested that Maher Kara owed that duty to Citigroup. By disclosing confidential information to anyone, much less his brother, Maher Kara was in violation of that duty. Riot Grrrl Sociology These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of entertainment, but in other ways such as self expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia Downes s journal article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power relations in British indie music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist movement, Riot grrrl, provoked young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of culture, such as how punk was a male dominated genre. • 5. The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Character Analysis In The Jilting of Granny Weatherall by Katherine Anne Porter the character Granny Weatherall has an interesting past that molds her personality. Granny Weatherall has many layers to her character, ranging from a loving mother to an independent woman who refuses help when she needs it most. Her life is constantly changing, and with it her personality and view on life shifts as well. The short story is told through the eyes of Granny Weatherall in her last moments of life. Being the independent woman she is, it is hard for her to grasp the fact she is dying and there is nothing she can do to stop it, so she recollects on the parts of her life that developed her personality. Granny Weatherall s complex personality and character depth causes her to become such an amazing individual that has many different levels to be discovered and enjoyed. The loss of Granny Weatherall s husband forced her to become an independent woman. Her independence made her stronger and she displayed her stubbornness to strive any time she could. Although she was a woman who was not extraordinarily strong, she tended to the land by herself, such as when She had fenced in a hundred acres once, digging the post holes herself and clamping the wires to upkeep her land (Porter 79). Even without a husband, she was able to do many difficult tasks by herself. Mrs. Weatherall did not need help from others and often refused it, even in her final moments of life Granny Weatherall told the doctor Leave a well woman alone. I ll call for you when I want you (Porter 78). Granny Weatherall was able to raise her three children, without the help of her late husband, and the children grew up loving their mother. Granny Weatherall s level of commitment adds to her independence, due to the fact that after her husband passed, she refused to marry again and continued to strive without a partner. Not only is Granny Weatherall able to take care of herself, but she displays her compassion for others and asks for nothing in return. Granny Weatherall s independence defines the amazing woman s legacy of being capable of doing so much, without the help of others. During the ancient times, the Greek concept of a hero was different from our own cultures. As the years passed, the overall concept of what a hero changed dramatically then what they thought years ago. A herois a literary figure, of course, but here, too, we need caution so that we don t misapply our own cultural ideas and standards to the ancient Greek hero. You may ask, what is a hero? • 7. Hamlet And Agamemnon In Hamlet The play Hamlet is more tragic than Agamemnon due to a stronger display of all elements of tragedy, dramatic plot and character development, and its ability to gain audience sympathy. Peripeta is used consistently throughout Hamlet as the narrative is full of unexpected plot twists. For instance, after learning of Claudius s guilt, Hamletdoes not act on impulse but rather decides to wait. Shortly after, Hamlet mistakenly murders Polonius which then leads to Ophelia s suicide. Furthermore, all deaths near the end are also unexpected considering they were all mostly accidental rather than planned. Queen Gertrude accidently drinks Hamlet s wine while Laertes is cut with his own poison blade. On the contrary, peripeteiais not consistently used in Agamemnon except near the very end. The initial chorus, conflict of Agamemnon s return and Clytemnestra s welcoming are not representative of plot twists. However, they do reveal Agamemnon s past to provide a better context for the audience. Regardless, peripeteia is not appropriately used as Cassandra foreshadows Agamemnon s and her own demise. The only unexpected plot twist occurs when Clytemnestra stands over Agamemnon s corpse while Aegisthus confesses that he took part in the murder to avenge his siblings. Additionally, hamartia occurs frequently throughout Hamlet as the protagonist passes up a few chances to immediately kill Claudius. Some notable mistakes include agreeing to duel with Laertes after killing his father, and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Suffragettes in the 20th century, such as Emily Davidson and Emmeline Pankhurst, used radical tactics to achieve their goal of gaining the right to vote. Men were also involved in the Suffragette movement. While many opposed, men like James Keir Hardie, head of the House of Commons, devoted a lot of effort to help women gain the vote. The genius strategy and the support and funding from men had gigantic impact in helping women gain the right to vote. In the early 19th century, England had a small excess of women. • 11. Women Of An Amorous Woman In his The Life of An Amorous Woman, Ihara Saikaku traces the demise of a woman whose thoughts and actions were controlled by insatiable lust and sexual desire. She begins as a wife and then progresses to a court lady in waiting, a concubine to a feudal lord, courtesan, priest s mistress, brothel prostitute, and, finally a streetwalker. Though courtesans did not play a major role in ancient Japan, by the seventeenth century, the courtesan class was sanctioned by the government to the extent that official decrees created a separate district to enclose them and put up physical boundaries that mirrored the division between them and traditional prostitutes. According to Chesemore in her essay, Women of the Floating World, as in all areas of Japanese life, attention was paid to the distinctions in the rank of the various inhabitants of this world, and clearly the courtesan reigned supreme (Chesemore, 1990). Saikaku writes that, because of her beauty and talent, she had her choice of men, and in the streets she walks with her head held high and does not step aside for anyone. Far from the traditional Confucian genderroles, the amorous womancan afford to be haughty, as she was showered with gifts and other luxuries. In Japanese society, at the time when these works were created, the feminine sexuality of a wife and of a courtesan were seen as two dichotomous roles that could not possibly be carried out by a single woman, at least in an ideal world. Originally, they would not have been able to do this since Italy was originally an ally of Germany, but they switched over to the Allied Powers in 1915 and declared war on Germany. Italy was promised land as a reward for helping out and switching over to the Allied Powers. David Lloyd George, the Prime Minister of Great Britain, asked for justice and not for revenge. Abstract The effects of climate change and global warming have severe effects on loggerhead sea turtles and various other marine mammals. The rate of climate change goes far beyond the abilities of animals to adapt to these drastic changes taking place around them in their habitats. These changes are predicted to cause an extinction of many species over the next few decades. Climate change is an issue that is linked to human influences. The loggerhead sea turtle is an endangered species exposed to many anthropogenic hazards in the Pacific. It is believed that pelagic longline fisheries pose one of the major risks for these loggerheads but the effects such as humanВinduced global climate change have rarely been considered. A great many of those studies are occurring on Universities and campuses, in this paper, analysis of one such study will be reviewed. The article is an evaluation of a Juvenile Drug CourtProgram in Lexington, Kentucky. The data that is coming from the Bureau of Justice suggests that juvenile courts process a higher volume of cases today than at any time in the past (Hayden, 2012) These statisticsrepresent the trend in persistently high rates in use of illegal substances among adolescents in the United States and subsequent juvenile court involvement. [The purpose of this study was to examine these outcomes in criminal offending and substance use for one of the first juvenile drug courts (JDC) in Kentucky, implemented in 2003 located in Lexington, Fayette County (Hayden, 2012). This program evaluation was conducted using records provided by Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) (Hayden, 2012). The concept of a drug court was conceived in Miami Dade County, Florida by Chief Judge Gerald Wetherington in 1989. That court was for adults, and the idea was to provide alternatives to incarceration and probation by affording offenders opportunities to get treatment with incentives and sanctions to encourage sobriety and lawful behavior (Hayden, 2012). • 19. Why School Violence Have Such Of An Effect On Our Society... Speech 131 T/TH 7:30 am Section 33282 Courtney Mathis ID # 2899247 Why does school violence have such of an effect on our society today? School violence is the intentional use of physical force or power, group or community, with the behavior likely to cause physical or psychological harm. Most school violence start from differences between teenagers. Like for instance about some weeks ago this girl named Amy Joyner died over this boy. The girls that jumped her was mad that she was dating one of the girl s ex boyfriends. It was not her fault that the boy had no more interest in them and wanted to try something new. For the careless actions upon the situation caused one girl to die and 3 charged with attempted murder in the second degree. School violence is just a cry for help in need of attention because of the home training they are lacking at home. I am arguing today we look past our differences and actually communicate and come to some sort of agreement. Let your understanding speak louder than your misconceptions. We as people have to own up to our mistakes and not make every little thing an issue that causes another s life at jeopardy. In the article school violence by Jaana Juvonen she states that Bullying and more serious violent behavior are not separate problems. Childhood bullying predicts person oriented crime in young adulthood. How do you feel when you lose another loved one due to violence? What if you try to make a change, but it has gotten so worse ... Chemical reactions between substances are caused by the collision of particles. More collisions mean a quicker rate of reaction. In the reaction between hydrochloric acid and magnesium ribbon, the chemical reaction takes place when the magnesium ribbon is dropped into the hydrochloric acid. The products are hydrogen gas and magnesium chloride. The equation for this reaction is as follows: Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid Magnesium chloride + Hydrogen Mg (s) + 2HCL (aq) MgCl2 (aq) + ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I predict this because of collision theory. There will be more particles in a solution of hydrochloric acid with a higher concentration than in a lower concentration, in the same volume of liquid. This means that particles in higher concentrations will collide with magnesium particles more frequently, therefore increasing rate of reaction i.e. a shorter time measured for the magnesium to be used up in reaction. I can predict that rate of reaction will increase with concentration of acid. The quicker the rate of reaction, the less time the reaction will take to be completed. Therefore: Rate of reaction 1 concentration of acid time taken to react So... Rate of reaction concentration time taken to react

The area was ripe for plantations and mass farming. Tobacco became the most desired thing out of the colonies, and it could be sold at exorbitant prices. As more people heard of the wealth in the New World farming, more people came to set up plantations. As such, more people were needed to facilitate the farming: Slaves. The British looked to Africa and gathered chattel slaves, who were prisoners; those sold out by other tribes, or even sold out by their own families. The slaves were loaded up on a ship, sent to the Caribbean, and then sent to the colonies to be sold. The profits they made would be shipped back to England, and the English would got to Africa to get even more slaves. This triangular trade became a huge portion of the New World economy. As the plantations grew in size, more people heard of the successes, and more people came. Not only did people come just by hearing of the successes, the government of Virginia established a headright system, or a provision that stated that any person who settled in Virginia or paid for the transportation expenses of another person who settled in Virginia should be entitled to receive fifty acres of land for each immigrant (Gentry). These incentives caused many people to flock to the plantations to try and make money. The ones who came and who had a lot of land had, like back in England, a lot of power. Aristocrats started popping up, gaining control of the areas around them. Following the English way, these aristocrats became the ones in control of more or less everything, be it land, government positions, jobs, etc. These aristocrats did not bother with schools in the Americas, of which there were very few in the south, and just sent their kids back to England to learn. ... • 42. Carl Jung s Theory Of Personality And Psychological Types In the 1920 s, a Swiss psychologist named Carl Jung devised a theory. Jung didn t accept the idea that the behaviors of people were random. Instead, he was a firm believer that the differences between individuals were a result of how people use their brains. Jung claimed that what appears to be random behavior is actually the result of differences in the way people prefer to use their mental capacities. (The Myers Briggs Foundation). Jung realized that people typically function in one of two ways, take in information or make decisions, and that people usually are more comfortable alone or around others. With all these observations, Jung wrote a book titled Psychological Types, which introduced the idea of personality and psychological... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introverts are people who spend time thinking and reflecting before they act. Their motivation is internal, which might end up closing them off from the world around them. Introverts usually prefer one to one relationships, and only express intimacy with a few family members or close friends. Introverts also love doing activities that allow them to be put in an organizational position. Occasionally, introverts will shut down and close off from all of those around them. Personally, I believe that is a completely accurate description of myself. I also plan out my days ahead of time, and I love being able to put things together. While I sometimes I think that it is a negative thing, I do tend to close off from my circle, which happens to be very small. If I do get to meet my goal of being a teacher, my introversion definitely yields to potential for problems. Getting out of my shell would be a challenge, without a doubt. That being said, my introversion is mostly geared towards others my age. I am usually very comfortable around people that are older or younger than I am, which makes me believe I would probably be okay. Other than having to overcome the challenge of opening up, being an introvert does have upsides, such as having an urge to get things done. The next part of my INFJ combination is that I am intuitive. Being intuitive means that I able to feel things that seem true by a feeling that is similar to instinct. The intuitive brain wants to be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Ecology Personal Statement My decision to pursue graduate study and research in the field of ecology comes from my aspiration to become a leading researcher. I feel that the knowledge what I have gained in this field is little. Therefore, to help me acquire a better understanding of this multi faceted field of ecology, I would like to pursue my doctoral degree major in ecology. During my undergraduate level, I have been fascinated with the field of biotechnology. It is why I choose this field as my MS thesis research. However, after deliberate thought and careful study, I changed my mind and have decided to build my career as an ecologist. My aspiration to pursue a research based career in the field of ecology, and climate change, comes from my visits of the world s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was among the top performers in these courses in my class. After completion of my undergraduate level, I started my steps towards research by joining the plant breeding and biotechnology lab where, I completed my thesis entitled Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) for the development of fungus resistance variety under the supervision of Professor Dr. Rakha Hari Sarker. During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I have been involved with several field studies. These studies included the flora of the world s largest mangrove forest (Sundarban), ethnobotany of medicinal plants used by native and tribal people, inventory of the plant diversity (herb, shrub, climber and tree) in an area adjacent to the University of Dhaka and on Saint Martin Island. In addition, as part of my course requirement I have studied the flora of Lawachara rainforest, Dulahazra Safari park and Remakelanga wildlife sanctuary. I have also presented a seminar presentation on the effects of tannery wastes on the ecosystems of the river of Buriganga . Field experiences provided me with the opportunity to explore real examples and to be involved, physically, in a real world setting, which further reinforced my desire to explore the natural ... • 44. Development And Evaluation Of Cognition Based Interventions PhD upgrade overview In recent years, there has been increasing interest in the development and evaluation of cognition based interventions (CBIs) for people with dementia in improving cognition, and quality of life (QoL). However, little is known about the effects of these interventions for carers who are actively involved and participate in CBIs alongside their relative. In addition, it has been argued that engaging family carers in the therapeutic process is important as it has the potential to improve mutual understanding and enhance carer well being. My PhD research aims to evaluate the effects of carer involvement in CBIs for people with dementia on carer well being. This report presents the progress my research which comprises... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter five describes a qualitative study which I conducted to explore the experiences and perspectives of people with dementia and their carers while taking part in the iCST intervention. Chapter six reports on my personal development and achievements and my PhD progress since my starting date which was the 29th January 2013. Advancing age remains the single most important risk factor for developing dementia (Luengo Fernandex, Leal, Gray 2010). It is estimated that there are currently over 46 million people living with dementia worldwide (World Alzheimer Report 2015), with a total of 835,000 people living with dementia in the UK alone (Alzheimer s Society, 2014). Dementia is a major cause of disability for older people (WHO, Dementia A Public Health Priority 2012). Dementia also remains a greatest challenge for the society and has a huge economic impact on the health care system, people with dementia and their families (Dowrick 2014). Alzheimer s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for up to 60% of all cases (Burns et al., 2006). AD is an age related degenerative brain disorder which develops over a period of years, but is not a normal part of aging (WHO 2015). AD can affect individuals in different ways, but for most people symptoms begin by experiencing difficulty in remembering new information, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. An Article On Effective Technology Use Our classroom text states that qualitative research is the collection, analysis, and interpretation of comprehensive narrative and visual data to gain insights into a particular phenomenon of interest (Gay, Mills, Airasian, 2012, p.7). Qualitative researchers strive to establish validity by eliciting a sense of trustworthiness through neutrality and objectivity, addressing the stability of data, and fair and impartial evaluation (SaldaГ±a, 2013). Researchers favor this method due to its emphasis on observing participants in their natural environment. There are some in the research and education field that feel certain kinds of educational issues and inquiries do not lend themselves to methods that employ numerical analysis and try to control variables in very complex and controlled environments. Qualitative researchers on the other hand state that findings should be resultant upon research done in real world settings in order to have application in real world settings (Gay, Mills, Airasian, 2012). Research Topic and Purpose Topic The topic of this article explores effective technology use in the classroom and allowing teachers to self question and unravel their own technology issues. Teachers are in essence the researchers as well as participants. The author supports the use of technology in the classroom and he states that the use of technology is a defining characteristic of twenty first century education and should be required ...
