Introduction
Much like the Linux or Windows operating system controls your
desktop or laptop computer, a mobile operating system is the
software platform on top of which other programs can run on
mobile devices.
Which is responsible for determining the functions and features
available on your device, such as thumbwheel, keyboards, WAP,
synchronization with applications, email, text messaging and
more

The "iOS" platform is a mobile-device-based software system that works like a
computer system, but on mobile devices like portable phones. It is designed to be
smaller, faster and use less power

It is based on Mach Kernel and Drawin core as Mac OS X.
