Mla Format College Essay
Crafting an essay on the MLA format for a college assignment might initially seem like a
straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of this writing style can reveal its
complexity. The MLA (Modern Language Association) format is meticulous and demands strict
adherence to its guidelines. From the proper formatting of the header and title to the intricacies
of in-text citations and the Works Cited page, every detail plays a crucial role in shaping a well-
structured essay.
The process involves not just expressing your thoughts coherently but doing so within the
confines of MLA's specific rules. The challenge lies in mastering the art of seamlessly integrating
citations into the text, navigating the nuances of parenthetical references, and ensuring that the
bibliography follows the prescribed format.
Moreover, staying updated with the latest edition of the MLA Handbook is essential, as the
guidelines can undergo revisions. Overlooking even minor details can lead to point deductions,
and students may find themselves grappling with the meticulous nature of the format.
However, there is a solution for those facing difficulties in navigating the complexities of the
MLA format or any other academic writing task. If the challenge seems overwhelming, seeking
assistance from professional writing services like HelpWriting.net can provide invaluable
support. These services offer expert guidance in essay composition, ensuring that the final

Hazing In High School
In a perturbing video released on the World Star Hip Hop Website, a secret ritual for
new fraternity initiates known as pledging displayed petrified students lined up and
passing a raw egg yolk from mouth to mouth1. Older students stood laughing as they
hazed the recruits to pass the egg. Such immature deeds have resulted in
repercussions felt globally; more than 250,000 students experienced some sort of
hazing to join a college athletic team2. Hazing has been observed in schools,
fraternities/clubs, and households.
I did not know much about hazing until I tasted it firsthand after I was elected into
Student Government Association (SGA) in high school. Many upperclassmen from

an inspiring quote said by Martin Luther King Jr. In Warriors Don t Cry, Melba
Beals does this exact thing. Melba is going through a time period where different
colors don t mix, till she comes along. She is proven to be strong willed and brave,
but she gets overwhelmed in the process.
In the story Warriors Don t Cry, Melba is described as a very strong willed young
lady. She decides to go to Central High even though people advise against it. She
said, I can be who ever I wanted. I could be white. I could be free (Beals page 6). She
is saying that she should be free to do what she wants and not be fouled because of
the color of her skin. She also said, We have a right to go to that school and I m
certain our governor, who was elected to govern all the people will decide to do
what is just that (Beals page 57). She honestly believes that everyone should be given
the same rights which is very strong willed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Process of Change in Organizational Culture
The change process Introduction Before the process of change of organizational

In order to initiate this change process, the organization or company must build a

Understanding Adult Learning Essay
There are many ways that people learn. The reasons for learning can come in a
variety of ways. Physiological breakthroughs have brought new meaning to the way
that the human brain receives and uses information. The information is used in a
variety of ways throughout life for individual success and overall success. All
information received in any form is part of the learningprocess.
The adult learner is someone who wants to know specific information for a
purpose. How a person learns to get to where they want to be comes in a variety of
ways. When one knows that something must be learned, he or she has to step back
and evaluate the situation and ask themselves, Why do I want to learn, and what steps

Subsequently, not all sources are correct and sometimes further investigation may be
required. Many people may turn to the internet as a source for information. Many
believe that all information on the World Wide Web is true; however, much of the
information required to find an answer must be further researched. The Internet is a
powerful tool but it may also lead some astray (McLagan, 2011). How the
information and knowledge is interpreted is very important. For New Knowledge ,
one has to simply try interpreting the information and using it in everyday
situations. Using the information is a good way for the data to be stored in the
brain. To clarify that the information given was true, one may find it best to use the
information, determine whether or not that it works, then evaluate. If the
information does seem to be helpful, after many tests are completed, use the
information in everyday life to achieve a level of personal success (McLagan,
2011). When one needs to complete a task at hand, there are several steps that
must be taken. The workforce is a place where daily task must be completed within
a day to day basis. In order to complete the task, certain levels of knowledge must be
required in order for the task to be completed. When a person is up for a promotion,
many businesses do not want to spend thousands of dollars on training for an
unsuccessful turnout. In a recent study, business s look

Ethnocentrism Response

Response Paper #1
September 16, 2017
When it comes to September 11th attack, I believe many Americans were confused as
to why other countries did not try to help them when they needed it the most. This
made Americans angry and even made an environment of us vs. them. Even after
years have passed since that day that changed the lives of many Americans, we still
can t understand the lengths that suicide bombers and terrorists go because of
ethnocentrism. Prior to the September 11th attack, both Americans and non
Americans were attacked, yet only one was found right and the other is wrong. This
is not to say that terrorist groups are in the right, their invasion is still occurring. But
unlike the United States, they invaded without military like the United States.
Since September 11, American politics and governance has focused on the war of
terror and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Some believe that ethnocentrism
contributes to a variety of attitudes when it comes to the war of terror. However, I
believe that attitudes towards the war on terrors relates less on a generalized
ethnocentrism than on evaluations of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People who are ethnocentric are not able to understand why people from other
groups act a certain way and even judge them. Patriotism can be defined as
someone s love and devotion to their country where their country is number one
and all other countries are viewed as less important. I believe both ethnocentrism
and patriotism are related to each other. Patriotism might lead people to see things
from their point of view with disregard to other peoples opinions. I do think that
patriotism is good and we all should love and be devoted to our country, but it is
also important to keep in mind that other people s cultures, groups, and countries and

Examples Of Absolute Power Corrupts In Othello
As the saying goes, absolute power corrupts absolutely. In Othello by William
Shakespeare, Iago thoroughly abuses the power of the trust that others have in him.
The story takes place in Venice, Italy, and in Cyprus, during the late 16th century.
Iago, an ensign, is attempting to manipulate Othello, the Venetian general, into
feeling jealous of his wife, Desdemona. Iagowants Othelloto feel the same as he did
when Othello picked another soldier, Cassio, over him for the position of lieutenant.
As Othello progresses, Iago increasingly abuses the trust that others have in him in
order to execute his schemes, because he enjoys holding control over those more
powerful than him; this point is evident when he when he manipulates Roderigo (a

kill both her and Cassio. Iago jumps in, spurring him on and even saying that he

night. I ll not expostulate with her, lest her body and beauty unprovide my mind
again This night, Iago! IAGO: Do it not with poison. Strangle her in her bed, even
the bed she hath contaminated. OTHELLO: Good, good, the justice of it pleases!
Very good! Othello has already planned on killing Desdemona, but Iago cannot
resist jumping in one last time to suggest a new way of killing Desdemona, one of
a twisted poetic justice. This does not really help Iago s situation, as no matter how
Desdemona dies, Othello would likely be caught. This is especially clear later as
Othello is not even really secretive about it, at least partly because he believes he is
morally right due to her supposed
Judgement At Nuremberg Essay
Judgment at Nuremberg is a movie which was directed by Stanley Kramer and was
written by Abby Mann based on a true story of a tribunal that happened in
Nuremberg, Germany in 1948 until 1949. The film with 179 minutes duration shows
us the tribunal to trial four NAZI judges who were very famous in the NAZI era.
They were Dr. Ernst Janning, (Burt Lancaster), Emil Hahn (Werner Klemperer),
Warner Lampe (Torben Meyer) and Friedrich Hofstetter (Martin Brand). The judges
who were presiding in the tribunal were JudgeDan Haywood (Spencer Tracy) with

Every decision made in the tribunal was made after finding facts and truth and it was
made fairly. There is one lesson that we can learn during the tribunal, soft power. Soft
power is doing the diplomacy, negotiation to overcome a problem. The conflicts that
happened in the tribunal were solved mostly by the diplomacy and negotiations
trough some argues until finally it came up with a decision. The ways to do the
diplomacy, negotiation, and argue are also clearly showed in that movie.
In my opinion, the balance of the power is really needed to be implemented to avoid
the inequality that results in to the violation of human rights. The balance of the
power can be implemented when the democracy also works in a state. Indonesian
governments have, the checks and balances system among all the governments

allows one institution checking and balancing other institution s power and authority

Machiavelli Co. Written over 500 years ago, The Prince by Machiavelli, was
crafted as guideline for rulers of this era. Contained within the novel are rules and
ideas formulated to ensure that the prince had the longest lasting and best rule that
he could. Although it was written so long ago it is fun to think about what kind of
kingdom, or in our case, a business would look like according to ideas laid out in The
Prince. When an employee walks in for his first day on the job at Machiavelli Co.
they would notice a few important things. One thing to take into account is that the
company has been around for a long time and it stomps out any other smaller
competition trying to rise. This is because the business has been around since the
beginning of the industry and ownership has been passed down through the family

Honoring his word is also key in gaining the respect of his employees as well as the
bosses of other CEOs of companies that do business with Machiavelli Co. If
respect is given to the CEO then this means that the rules are much more likely to
be followed and force will not be needed. In the company scenario and the The
Prince, force means termination from the job and no so much the physical
punishment found in the novel. The last thing that the CEO must do in order to be
successful is to not be distant from his workers. Any executive who comes down
from his high perch and visits with the lowest workers and show how much they
know about the company are going to have the most employees who respect their
employer and in turn have more success. Nothing causes a prince to be so much
esteemed as great empires and giving proof of prowess. This quote from chapter 21

Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are definitely the best soccer players in the world.
They dominate world soccer for eight years. There are many comments but still
nothing definitive about who is better. I will do my best to compare and contrast
them to explain why I prefer Ronaldo than Messi in two areas: their styles and
technical abilities.
To an extent, their styles are determined by their own careers. For Messi, he came
to Barcelona from Newell s Old Boys at the age of 13, with the club helping him
for a growth hormone deficiency that threatened to limit his growth and paying for

creates huge threats in the air to opposing defense line; his strong shooting

other hand, Ronaldo s powerful ability to adapt, strong will, indomitable spirit and
self discipline to his own soccer career also maintain himself in a great form in a

The Mexican American War and the Annexation of the Republic of Texas (1836 1845)
Since the United States was founded as an independent nation from Great Britain, its
people had confronted many economic, political, and social problems. The United
States started to expand its territory in the western part of the country. Some
examples are the Louisiana purchase from1803 and the Spanish Florida annexation.
One of the most significant and controversial in the antebellum years was the Texas
annexation which was a result of the War between Mexico and the war of
independence by Texan rebels on the late 1830 s and 1840 s. Therefore, the
annexation of the Republic of Texas existed from 1836 1845 produced controversy
and consequences on both sides of the border.
In order to understand the consequences of the war, it is important to mention some
struggles that confront both countries. First, in 1803, the United States had
purchased the territory of Louisiana claiming that the purchase also includes the
territory of Texas. The Spanish responded by closing the border where many
mercenaries had been penetrated. However, the Spanish attempt to colonization
failed; as a consequence, the Texas territory was scarcely populated. The Spanish
crown allow the immigration of residents of Spanish Louisiana and Florida to settle

Poor Person that is all that I am or ever will be. It is not worth it to me to live a

you feel powerful and valuable. It does not matter what will happen in a month.

Beowulf Is Most Important Pieces Of English Literature
Beowulf is one of the most important pieces of English literature. The epic poem is
said to be a great representation of the Anglo Saxon era. Written by an anonymous
monk between 800 and 1000 A.D., Beowulf displays Anglo Saxon practices, beliefs,
values, and religion. Beowulf is not only a fascinating story, but also a primary
source for the time period. Serving as a primary source document, scholars can have
a deep understanding of the Anglo Saxon culture. They can learn about the Old
English language, their customs and beliefs, and what they valued. This is why
Beowulfis one of the most important pieces of English literature. Even though
Beowulf serves as a primary document, it still, however, has a mystery behind it.

Christians believe in one all powerful, all knowing God. Their source of wisdom is
from the Holy Bible, which was, at the time, only copied and written by monks.
Christians value brotherly love, forgiveness, the love of God, and other various
things. In contrast of paganism, Christians view treasure as one of the seven
deadly sins because hoarding it leads to greed. Although, similar to paganism,
Christians value sharing. They believe it is good to share one s fortune to those
less fortunate than themselves. Doing such a task gives them a sense of good
morals and the grace of God. Certainly Christian and pagan beliefs are both
represented in Beowulf. Based on what the world knows, Beowulf was written by an
anonymous monk. At the time, England was converted to Christianity. The world,
however, does not know why there are Christian connections in Beowulf. The biggest
conspiracy is the monk wanted to blend Christian customs with the Anglo Saxon s,
so there was not a threat to convert people by force. Many scholars believe that
Christians had done this centuries before the epic poem was written. Although, for a
brief moment, paganism was briefly mentioned in Beowulf. Sometimes at pagan
shrines they vowed offerings to idols, swore oaths that the killer of souls might come
to their aid and save their people. That was their way, their heathenish hope; deep in
their hearts they remembered
Understanding Identity A solitarist Approach
When understanding identity a solitarist approach is, in general, a very efficient way
of misunderstanding nearly everyone in the world. As Amartya Sen explains, a single
minded perception of oneness with our respective civilizations [sic] disregards the
multiple and complex identities that belong to each human being. Sen states it must
also be recognized that reductionist cultivation of singular identities has indeed been
responsible for a good deal of what we call engineered bloodshed across the world.
History has demonstrated how a particular group identity becomes a target in war, for
example, the Jews were persecuted during the Second World War, but it should be
noted that before the war, 80% of the Jews were also German citizens. Furthermore,
Sen advocates for a deeper understanding of the multiplicities of identities to combat
the integration of violence geared toward the cultivated singularity. When conflict
arises the identities of the opposing groups can become a target for attack. Neal
Ascherson, declares that war can damage two different, though related, types of
identity: a social identity belonging to people within their community, and a
collective or group identity which has been constructed around high art , considered
to constitute a national heritage. Benedict Anderson describes modern nationalism as
an imagined community, where although each person may not know one another in a
nation state, they share a common identity that is

Thesis Statement On Graphene
When I was child, there was a Television program called, MacGyver was telecast
every Wednesday in a week which I enjoyed most. How the MacGyver works to
solve serious problem with everyday items was very much intriguing to me. Since
then I have been always trying to solve things, no matter it is beyond me or not. My

My undergraduate thesis topic was Analysis the transport properties of graphene
using Ensemble Monte Carlo Simulation in which I studied electrical conductivity,
effect of temperature on graphene by varying temperature, effect of electric field on
drift velocity, effect of scattering on mobility, observed its some mechanical
properties like stress enduring capability etc. in a form of carbon nanotube. The most
amazing fact about graphene is it may be a metal or a semiconductor or a semi metal
depending its indexes. Carbon nanotube is actually cylindrical form of graphene
sheet. By using tight binding model(TB), I got electronic band structure of graphene
which was the basis for the Monte Carlo Simulation as it is superior then Boltzmann
transport equation(BTE) for analyzing band structure. I have decent command on
MathLab programming language. I acquired A+ grade in my thesis and not only in
the thesis but also I got good grade in all semiconductor related subjects in my
undergraduate level. Nowadays research programs related to graphene has been a
sign of advancement for any institution whether it is educational or
Pregnant Woman Book Report
Introduction
This book is intended to be a quick reference guide on how to maximize the safety of
the pregnant woman and her unborn child while providing dental care. This book is a
compilation of existing recommendations. It is not intended to alter the standard of
care.
My introduction to the treatment of pregnant women
Early in life, I became aware of the fear and caution that can envelop healthcare
practitioners when they are placed in a situation where they have to evaluate and treat
a pregnant woman. As a young teenager, I remember my mother occasionally telling
me amusing stories about her experiences as a labor and delivery nurse. One time in
particular, I remember her telling the story of woman who was sent to her hospital
unit (labor and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, once pregnant, the need for invasive treatments during pregnancy will have
been either preemptively avoided, or minimized. This is consistent with emerging
evidence that for the fetus to reap optimal benefits, the woman should be in a state
of good oral health prior to becoming pregnant. There is increasing evidence that
untreated oral disease has the potential to be detrimental to both the expectant mother
and the fetus. As dentists, our duty is to find ways to provide the needed care as
safely as possible.
Unfortunately, there is a large proportion of pregnant women who have significant
unmet oral healthcare needs. Because of this, and because of unforeseen dental
emergencies and dental urgencies, some pregnant women will require invasive, and
sometimes extensive, dental treatment during pregnancy. Currently, there is limited
clinical trial evidence to support, or refute, the premise that providing dental care is
safe for the pregnant woman. While dental procedures have not been linked to fetal
loss, it may be of importance to note that most dental procedures induce

Using Silver Polymer
In this study, polymer of [AgL]n was immobilized onto the surface of a glassy
carbon electrode (GCE), which leads to the efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of
Dibucaine and Naphazoline. The GCE was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH =
3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It presented no redox process in the
potential range applied. The working electrode coated with polymer of [AgL]n was
immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement to ensure
the diffusion of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange.
The cyclic voltammograms were recorded for Dibucaine and Naphazoline at
modified electrode and are shown in Fig.4. As it can be seen, at the surface of the
modified electrode, oxidations of Dibucaine and Naphazoline are irreversible
processes. These results indicate that the electron transfer rate is quite slow. Such
slow electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused by the evidence
of Dibucaine and Naphazoline and their oxidation products.
In addition, at modified electrode, oxidation of these compounds resulted in a typical
Similarities Between The Greasers And The Outsiders
The two books The Outsiders and The Wednesday Wars are very similar and
diverse in countless ways. The location, main characters, and influences help
demonstrate these similarities and differences. In the book, The Wednesday Wars,
Holling HoodHood lives in Long Island with what his father likes to think is the
perfect family. He is a 13 year old boy who goes to Camillo Junior High but with
this time in history, during the Vietnam War, his life could change. For Ponyboy
Curtis life is almost completely different. Where he lives, life is not the all
American dream. Competition between the Socials and the Greasers is always a
constant threat for him and his gang. Ponyboy Curtis is a greaser like no other. His
ability to comprehend school subjects set him apart from the rest of his gang. In
both books you would be able to find similarities in where they take place, the main
characters, and the people who influence their lives. The location of where each story
takes place affect the main characters differently. The setting of The Outsiders is fun,
dangerous, disturbing, and even heart wrenching. Ponyboy describes the town as
being economically split into two parts, East and West. These two parts cause
Ponyboy to worry more about the Greasers and the Socials than current events. This
quote demonstrates how the location has affected Ponyboy s lifestyle, Sixteen years

Using a Compound Microscope Lab Report E Period
Abstract
The purpose of this lab is to learn about the parts and uses of a compound
microscope. It is also to learn how to properly use and take care of the microscope.
This lab showed me what materials and parts of the microscope I should use when
examining an object.
Introduction
The microscope was invented by a father and son, Hans and Zaccharias Janssen.
They were once looking at the lens of a magnifying glass and decided to put the
lenses in a tube. When they looked through the tube, they noticed that the object
underneath the magnifying lenses, was enlarged. That was the first invention of the
compound microscope. Overtime, more advancements and improvements were
made by other scientists to this microscope (1. microscope microscope.org). A
scientist that contributed to the cell theory is Robert Hooke. Robert Hooke was
the first person to use the word cell to describe the basic unit of life. He was also
known for his observations of thinly sliced cork. Robert Brown contributed to the
cell theory by discovering the nucleus of a plant cell (2. brighthub.com). The
scientist Schleiden, made the statement about cells that all plant tissues were made
up of cells and that cells are the basic building blocks of all plants. Schwann
discovered that both plants and animals are made up of cells.
Iran Nuclear Involvement
The greatest threat to the United States in today s world is Iran s investment in
nuclear proliferation and its potential to destabilize the region. Iran has shown a
history of aggression towards not only the U.S., but countries in the region as well.
Acquiring nuclear weapons and the capability to deliver those weapons against the
U.S. or its allies poses significant ramifications. In order to reverse Iran s progress
towards developing a nuclear bomb along with the associated delivery platforms, the
U.S. must engage Iran more forcefully using containment, deterrence, and pre
emption. This paper will begin with an overview of Iran s history with the U.S.,
followed by an explanation of why Iran s nuclear ambitions are detrimental... Show

During this timeframe, the Shah became increasingly isolated and dictatorial.
Gripes between the two countries escalated to a new high point in 1979 with the
Iranian take over of the U.S. Embassy and the ensuing hostage crisis. The
relationship between the two countries continued to deteriorate as witnessed by the
U.S. support for Iraq during its war against Iran. Additionally, Iran protested the
shooting down of one of their civilian airplanes over international water by the U.S.
Navy. On the other hand, Iran has been linked to terrorist attacks on U.S. forces in
Beirut in 1983 and in Saudi Arabia in 1996; and Iranian support for extremist
movements in Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Moreover, around 2010, the
U.S. and Israel are suspected of launching a massive cyber attack on an Iranian
nuclear facility. This was accompanied by assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists
in order to slow down the country s nuclear program. The Joint Comprehensive Plan
of Action (JCPOA) marks the last major milestone in the relationship between the
U.S. and Iran. The signing of this agreement in 2015 is considered one of the most
deficient arms control agreements in history. JCPOA provides Iran with enough
flexibility to advance its nuclear program, which eventually will lead to a nuclear
bomb. Although such an agreement took place, Iranians will always remember the
coup that led to a dictatorial, repressive regime. The

Silent Spring, By Rachel Carson
During the early twentieth century, advances in chemistry produced a battery of
pesticides that were originally hailed for raising crop yields and controlling
disease carrying insects. The most famous of these pesticides was DDT. DDT s
discoverer, Paul Muller, even won the Nobel Prize. However, people were
oblivious to the dangers pesticides posed to people and the environment. For
example, when DDT is repeatedly sprayed, toxic amounts begin to accumulate in
the environment. Rachel Carson, a marine biologist, was greatly concerned about
such dangers, and wrote Silent Spring to raise public awareness. In Silent Spring,
Rachel Carson brought awareness of such dangers, reporting that even small doses
of pesticides applied regularly can build up to enormous quantities over time. Once
accumulated, pesticides present in the environment pose a threat to people and
animals alike. For example, many pesticides are carcinogens that Carson attributes
to the spike in cancer rates during the mid twentieth century. Animals are not
immune from the deadly effect of pesticides. In Silent Spring, Carson describes
entire lakes that became almost completely devoid of life after DDT was applied
(Carson 45 49). Silent Spring triggered a powerful public response immediately after
its publication. Many people were convinced of the hazards of pesticide use, but some
accused Carson of exaggerating the danger. Despite its critics, Silent Spring
eventually triggered an outburst of environmentalismthat

World Series rings are awards given to every player in Major League baseball who
has won the World Series. Started in the 1922 World Series when rings were given
to the members of the winning team, the New York Giants, courtesy companies
like Tiffany Co or Balfour, they have grown in stature and size. They flaunt the
team s logo in precious stones like diamonds and rubies and are set in 14 carat

Analysis Of The Movie Dreamworks II Holding Co
DreamWorks II Holding Co., LLC is a film production company, which develops
and produces films, along with television programming and video games. The
company was founded on October 12, 1994 by Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and
Jeffrey Katzenberg. They officially founded the company with the financial backing
of $33 million from each of the three cofounders, and $500 million from Microsoft co
founder Paul Allen, putting the value of the company at the time around $2.7 billion.
The goal of the trio was to initiate and organize an artist friendly studio, in order to
produce, develop, and distribute exceptional film entertainment that would entertain
audiences all around the world. DreamWorksis a dominant producer of live action
films, network syndicated cable television programming, and consumer products, etc.
The company used to have an animation arm, however, that was spun off in 2004,
creating the publicly traded company, known as DreamWorks AnimationSKG
(NASDAQ:DWA). The three founders of DreamWorks were already titans in their
respective industries. Spielberg was already one of the most influential and successful
filmmakers in the motion picture industry. Before starting DreamWorks, Jeff
Katzenberg became a household name in the entertainment business as Chairman of
The Walt Disney Studios from 1984 to 1994. At Disney, Katzenberg was responsible
for the distribution, marketing, and production, of all Disney filmed entertainment.

Different Definitions of Art and Photography
To test the validity of the statement All the arts are based on the presence of man,
only photography derives an advantage from his absence. (Bazin 1967: 13), one has
to first define what is meant by art. This commentary is going to examine this
statement using three different definitions of art, Bazin s, Tolstoy s and Arnheim s
definitions. Andre Bazin believed realism lies at the heart of art, and that art is the
process of reproducing reality. He believed that an artefact should helps us to
remember the subject and to preserve him from a second spiritual death (Bazin
1967: 10). He saw art as a way of immortalising mortal things; he compares painting
and sculptures to the ancient practice of mummifying in Egypt, to keep up... Show

Although modification of photos is possible, it is important to note that it is
frowned upon amongst those who practice photography as an art, as the central
idea behind the art of photography is realism, and being able to produce something
that someone will look at later and admire. If we use Bazin s definition of art, a
realistic recreation of an object or person, photography does benefit from an
absence of man, as it is not influenced by minds of individuals, and produces an
exact copy of the subject. And although many artistes have tried to be as objective
as possible, and have produced portraits of man and landscapes that resemble their
subjects very closely, they still lack the clarity and detail that a photo can provide.
The reason behind this is that no human brain can ever be as objective as a camera,
as their illustrations is based on their perception and their view of the world, which
can differ from man to man. At the other end of spectrum lies Rudolf Arnheim
definition of art, which states art is something that is a pure work of man. For
Arnheim a piece of work would have to be made by man in every sense, the idea
and the production process, to be considered art. Arnheim also believed film will be
able to reach the heights of the other arts only when it frees

The Contributions of Post Development Theory
Introduction The world has witnessed an ongoing transformation involving the
various changes regarding development approaches and classification of
communities. Interestingly, this diversification of the world has started with the end
of the World War II. This remarkable point indicates the first definition of
underdeveloped for the first time in the history. In Gustavo Esteva s article, it is
pointed out that dated from 1949,the concept underdeveloped commenced to take
place in literature after the expression by Truman following the Second World War. (
Esteva: 6) This was a major turning point that the communities belong to so called

These all different social systems require different approaches regarding development.
The crucial point is that PD theorists usually define that the culture, changes in terms
of social issues and societal systems, and anthropology are inseparable actors of
development which are all interconnected to each other. The intrinsic beyond that is
the more prominent the agenda of hegemony becomes, the greater localized people
and their cultures occupy a role in the agenda of development. (Ferguson:157)
Anthropology is believed that it could pave the way for unique forms of projects
regarding to development. In addition to that, they should be properly and separately
engaged with the ethnographies and anthropologies. These projects play an important
role in order to put emphasis on local roots and their resistance against the power of
the hegemony. PD theorists mainly are the supporters of cultural relativism. They
have the position supporting limited universalism as well. Conversely, this relativism
is not intrinsically associated with universal issues and problems which are dealt with
PD theorists as well. Whereas they aim to search for local solutions, they neglect the
universality of problems. Although, mainly the issues are defined locally in terms of
unique ethnographies, it should be noticed that these local problems have
commenced to be universal issues concerning the various parts

today. No one can deny the contributions of First Ladies and how they helped shape
the United States. I will address the early life, the kindness, and the influence of
Lucy Hayes, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Michelle Obama. Lucille Lucy Hayes is the
First Lady that comes first in this sequence. Lucy Hayes was the First Lady of
Rutherford B. Hayes. She played a big role during his presidency. She mainly helped

She loved to be around other people and especially children. She was involved with
all kinds of less fortunate people than herself. She was especially involved with
children and veterans. She always got along really well with children. When she
noticed that the kids were not allowed to have an easter egg hunt, she generously
offered up the White House grounds to host the event. This demonstration of
kindness really proved that Lucy Hayes was a sweet soul that loved kids. While
she was a First Lady, she visited the Deaf and the National Soldier s Home for
disabled veterans. She did all kinds of great things for this organization including
donating money to them and giving them attention. Lucy also gave generous gifts
to children s hospitals around her area. History.com says, arranged for flowers to
be delivered from her greenhouses to the local children s hospital (Lucy Hayes).
She was a very generous person and felt a need to help others. She enjoyed the
feeling she got after she knew that she was helping people less fortunate than her.
Lucy also demonstrated her kindness when she was raising funds for the poorer
communities in Washington D.C. She urged members of her husband s cabinet to
donate money to help the less fortunate. Of course, she led by example and donated
around $1,000 dollars of her own money. This truly showed what a kind person she
was and that she held other people in a high regard (Lucy
Solid Lead Iodide Lab Report
Discussion:
There are numerous ways of isolating and purifying a substance, and an
investigation of the differences of each procedure were performed. In two different
procedures, lead nitrate and potassium iodide were used to isolate and purify pure
solid lead iodide, and the differences in the limiting reactant and solid lead iodide was
observed. The amount of solid lead iodide was calculated by the measuring the mass
of which the solid lead iodide was created in before and after the purification of solid
lead iodide.
The purification and isolation of solid lead iodide was achieved in two different
process with different results. In the evaporation collection, the solid iodide was
created by adding heat to the water base solution of lead ... Show more content on

In the evaporation collection, potassium nitrate was left behind in the casserole dish.
If no potassium nitrate was present the percent yield would be closer to 100% yield,
but this is not the case. The percent yield for the evaporation collection was 144%
yield which is not close to 100% yield.
The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a
percent yield of 144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal
with only 56.9% yield. The evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144%
yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid from the test tube to the casserole dish
with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure.
Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best
option since it achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. Although the
evaporation collection attained a better percent yield, the vacuum filtration produces
a purer lead iodide because the potassium nitrate is filtered out of the Buchner funnel,
while in the evaporation collection keeps the potassium nitrate in the casserole dish.
In this experiment, there are two different systematic errors to consider. In the
evaporation collection, the casserole dish that was used had an uneven edge which
could have allowed some of the solution, which contained lead
What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats
In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and
the other darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is
the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative
projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading
the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of
Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats
magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem tells the story of
Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are against
of it. Madeline is practicing a St. Agnes Eve ritual to fulfill her dream... Show more

Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love.
Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and
somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and
Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle
are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition
connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover
Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and
also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic
period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his
love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December
of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be
taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and
Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was
inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in
The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia,
and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats
by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent

Argument Against Laura Mulvey Theory On Male Gaze
The video essay argued against Laura Mulvey theory on male gaze and was mainly
centred on the article of visual Pleasure and narrative cinema writer by Laura Mulvey.
According to Mulvey(1975,p348) The female is displayed for his
enjoyment(connoting male phantasy) and that of the spectator fascinated with the
image of is like set in an illusion of natural space, and through him gaining possession
and control of the womanwithin the diegesis . She went further stating that in film the
women as object of the combined gazeof spectator for all the male protagonist. She is
isolated, glamorous, on display, sexualised (p3488). Examples of such films given in
the video essay is the skin I live in (Pedro AlmodГіvar), Spain 2011. The idea of

The Importance Of The NBA
The NBA is one of the most entertaining sports known to man. The NBA consists of
a lot of highlights, most of the highlights have nothing to do with actually playing
basketball. The NBA provides various organizations to help the less fortunate, they
also do a lot of camps and gatherings to make better players out of younger kids.
Also, the NBA brings so many eye catching aspects to the game, such as special
uniforms for holidays, expensive tennis shoes and amazing in games moves only
the best of the best can master. But just like everyone else the NBA isn t perfect, it
s a game of favoritism and personal agendas. The NBA is getting bigger and bigger
every year it continues.
The NBA gives back to the community regularly. Not necessarily the NBA but the
players in the NBA. Oklahoma City, Thunder s point guard Russell Westbrook has
his own charity called the Why Not? Foundation. In December on Christmas Russell
and his Why Not? Foundation got together with others to give gifts to about 10,000
or more children in foster care. Los Angeles Lakers center Pau Gasol has gave
$10,000 to UNICEF to help build safe schools in Africa. He has also pledged to
give $1,000 for every shoot he has made in a specific game, to help the Philippines
after a hard hitting typhoon. Back in 2005 the now Huston Rockets point guard
Chris Paul was in New Orleans when it was hit by hurricane Katrina. The superstar
has help with repairs tremendously, he now has five charities and seven causes he

`` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History ``
Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976,
wrote that well behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that
phrase has became a slogan for feminists around the world. It appears on many
products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and even wine glasses. At the time she
wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well behaved do not get their
stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though now, people
interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make
history shirt (Customized Girl). The most common product with the phrase well
behaved women seldom make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There
is a variety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted
is quite different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do
something bad, rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions
were, while the creators of this shirt want women to speak out, to make change,
and to create equality for everyone, which, by some people, is seen as wrong for
women to do. Although what the designers of this product seem to be aiming for
is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that Ulrich
still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make
history necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a
bronze colored chain with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in
diameter. The pendant has the quote well behaved women seldom make history on
it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it. Similarly to the shirt, women
and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a seller called DSD,
whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small, literature
related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the
three analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be
interpreted. It is a small pendant that people are not going to be able to read
Film Analysis Of Wyatt Earp
Throughout the years, there has been an abundance of movies depicting the wild
west during the nineteenth century. One of these films includes Tombstone which
was released in the year 1993. Based on real events, this movie is about a man
named Wyatt Earp, played by Kurt Russel, who is a retired officer that settles in a
town called Tombstonewith his two brothers. Later, they encounter a group of
outlaws called the Cowboys which was led by Curly Bill and Johnny Ringo. Due to
some conflict between the opposing sides, it causes a massive gunfight called the
O.K. Corral in which the Earp brothers and long time friend Doc Holliday, played by
Val Kilmer, ultimately win the battle. As a result of the fight not ending in the
Cowboys favor, they ambush the town in which leads to Virgil, played by Sam
Elliot (Tombstone, 1.), becoming handicapped and Wyatt s younger brother,
Morgan played by Bill Paxton, dead. This infuriates Wyatt which then leads him to
seek vengeance for his brother s death. While Wyatt kills Curly, Doc and their posse
attack the remaining Cowboys. After the ambush, Doc s tuberculosis progressively
gets worse and is left on bed rest. As Wyatt and the posse continue to meet up with
Johnny and the Cowboys, Doc has already arrived and murders Johnny legally.
Tombstone, compared to other films, gives a realistic depiction of the west of that
time period based on the set. It is based on a real place located in southern Arizona .
This little town was established in 1877

Many believe that all information on the World Wide Web is true; however, much of the information required to find an answer must be further researched. The Internet is a powerful tool but it may also lead some astray (McLagan, 2011). How the information and knowledge is interpreted is very important. For New Knowledge , one has to simply try interpreting the information and using it in everyday situations. Using the information is a good way for the data to be stored in the brain. To clarify that the information given was true, one may find it best to use the information, determine whether or not that it works, then evaluate. That is an extremely high number. It is vital that we take control of this povertyissue at hand before it is too late. The definition of poverty is the state of being extremely poor. Poverty is the lack of money or material things. It is all over the world and is increasing at an alarming rate. Over the year of 2015, 43.1 million people in the United Stateslived in poverty. Also in 2015, there were 15.8 million United States households that were food insecure.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... None of them matter, in the long term. I will never not be poor, so what does it matter if I don t pay a thing and a half this week instead of just one thing? It s not like the sacrifice will result in improved circumstances; the thing holding me back isn t that I blow five bucks at Wendy s. It s that now that I have proven that I am a Poor Person that is all that I am or ever will be. It is not worth it to me to live a bleak life devoid of small pleasures so that one day I can make a single large purchase. I will never have large pleasures to hold on to. There s a certain pull to live what bits of life you can while there s money in your pocket, because no matter how responsible you are you will be broke in three days anyway. When you never have enough money it ceases to have meaning. I imagine having a lot of it is the same thing. Poverty is bleak and cuts off your long term brain. It s why you see people with four different baby daddies instead of one. You grab a bit of connection wherever you can to survive. You have no idea how strong the pull to feel worthwhile is. It s more basic than food. You go to these people who make you feel lovely for an hour that one time, and that s all you get. You re probably not compatible with them for anything long term, but right this minute they can make you feel powerful and valuable. It does not matter what will happen in a month. Whatever happens in a month is probably going to be just
  • 20. Beowulf Is Most Important Pieces Of English Literature Beowulf is one of the most important pieces of English literature. The epic poem is said to be a great representation of the Anglo Saxon era. Written by an anonymous monk between 800 and 1000 A.D., Beowulf displays Anglo Saxon practices, beliefs, values, and religion. Beowulf is not only a fascinating story, but also a primary source for the time period. Serving as a primary source document, scholars can have a deep understanding of the Anglo Saxon culture. They can learn about the Old English language, their customs and beliefs, and what they valued. This is why Beowulfis one of the most important pieces of English literature. Christians believe in one all powerful, all knowing God. Their source of wisdom is from the Holy Bible, which was, at the time, only copied and written by monks. Christians value brotherly love, forgiveness, the love of God, and other various things. In contrast of paganism, Christians view treasure as one of the seven deadly sins because hoarding it leads to greed. Although, similar to paganism, Christians value sharing. They believe it is good to share one s fortune to those less fortunate than themselves. Doing such a task gives them a sense of good morals and the grace of God. Certainly Christian and pagan beliefs are both represented in Beowulf. Based on what the world knows, Beowulf was written by an anonymous monk. At the time, England was converted to Christianity. The world, however, does not know why there are Christian connections in Beowulf. The biggest conspiracy is the monk wanted to blend Christian customs with the Anglo Saxon s, so there was not a threat to convert people by force. Many scholars believe that Christians had done this centuries before the epic poem was written. Although, for a brief moment, paganism was briefly mentioned in Beowulf. Sometimes at pagan shrines they vowed offerings to idols, swore oaths that the killer of souls might come to their aid and save their people. That was their way, their heathenish hope; deep in their hearts they remembered
  • 21. Understanding Identity A solitarist Approach When understanding identity a solitarist approach is, in general, a very efficient way of misunderstanding nearly everyone in the world. As Amartya Sen explains, a single minded perception of oneness with our respective civilizations [sic] disregards the multiple and complex identities that belong to each human being. Sen states it must also be recognized that reductionist cultivation of singular identities has indeed been responsible for a good deal of what we call engineered bloodshed across the world. History has demonstrated how a particular group identity becomes a target in war, for example, the Jews were persecuted during the Second World War, but it should be noted that before the war, 80% of the Jews were also German citizens. Furthermore, Sen advocates for a deeper understanding of the multiplicities of identities to combat the integration of violence geared toward the cultivated singularity. When conflict arises the identities of the opposing groups can become a target for attack. Neal Ascherson, declares that war can damage two different, though related, types of identity: a social identity belonging to people within their community, and a collective or group identity which has been constructed around high art , considered to constitute a national heritage. Benedict Anderson describes modern nationalism as an imagined community, where although each person may not know one another in a nation state, they share a common identity that is

This book is a compilation of existing recommendations. It is not intended to alter the standard of care. My introduction to the treatment of pregnant women Early in life, I became aware of the fear and caution that can envelop healthcare practitioners when they are placed in a situation where they have to evaluate and treat a pregnant woman. As a young teenager, I remember my mother occasionally telling me amusing stories about her experiences as a labor and delivery nurse. Then, once pregnant, the need for invasive treatments during pregnancy will have been either preemptively avoided, or minimized. This is consistent with emerging evidence that for the fetus to reap optimal benefits, the woman should be in a state of good oral health prior to becoming pregnant. There is increasing evidence that untreated oral disease has the potential to be detrimental to both the expectant mother and the fetus. As dentists, our duty is to find ways to provide the needed care as safely as possible. Unfortunately, there is a large proportion of pregnant women who have significant unmet oral healthcare needs. Because of this, and because of unforeseen dental emergencies and dental urgencies, some pregnant women will require invasive, and sometimes extensive, dental treatment during pregnancy. Currently, there is limited clinical trial evidence to support, or refute, the premise that providing dental care is safe for the pregnant woman. While dental procedures have not been linked to fetal loss, it may be of importance to note that most dental procedures induce

The GCE was previously tested in PBS buffer (pH = 3) before polymer were drop coated on it. It presented no redox process in the potential range applied. The working electrode coated with polymer of [AgL]n was immersed in the electrolyte solution for 20 min prior to the measurement to ensure the diffusion of the solution to the interlayer space and permit better ionic exchange. As it can be seen, at the surface of the modified electrode, oxidations of Dibucaine and Naphazoline are irreversible processes. These results indicate that the electron transfer rate is quite slow. Such slow electron transfer kinetics is due to the electrode fouling caused by the evidence of Dibucaine and Naphazoline and their oxidation products. In addition, at modified electrode, oxidation of these compounds resulted in a typical

It is also to learn how to properly use and take care of the microscope. This lab showed me what materials and parts of the microscope I should use when examining an object. Introduction The microscope was invented by a father and son, Hans and Zaccharias Janssen. They were once looking at the lens of a magnifying glass and decided to put the lenses in a tube. When they looked through the tube, they noticed that the object underneath the magnifying lenses, was enlarged. That was the first invention of the compound microscope. Overtime, more advancements and improvements were made by other scientists to this microscope (1. microscope microscope.org). A scientist that contributed to the cell theory is Robert Hooke. Robert Hooke was the first person to use the word cell to describe the basic unit of life. He was also known for his observations of thinly sliced cork. Robert Brown contributed to the cell theory by discovering the nucleus of a plant cell (2. brighthub.com). The scientist Schleiden, made the statement about cells that all plant tissues were made up of cells and that cells are the basic building blocks of all plants. Schwann discovered that both plants and animals are made up of cells.

Additionally, Iran protested the shooting down of one of their civilian airplanes over international water by the U.S. Navy. Silent Spring, By Rachel Carson During the early twentieth century, advances in chemistry produced a battery of pesticides that were originally hailed for raising crop yields and controlling disease carrying insects. The most famous of these pesticides was DDT. DDT s discoverer, Paul Muller, even won the Nobel Prize. However, people were oblivious to the dangers pesticides posed to people and the environment. For example, when DDT is repeatedly sprayed, toxic amounts begin to accumulate in the environment. Rachel Carson, a marine biologist, was greatly concerned about such dangers, and wrote Silent Spring to raise public awareness. In Silent Spring, Rachel Carson brought awareness of such dangers, reporting that even small doses of pesticides applied regularly can build up to enormous quantities over time. Once accumulated, pesticides present in the environment pose a threat to people and animals alike. For example, many pesticides are carcinogens that Carson attributes to the spike in cancer rates during the mid twentieth century. Animals are not immune from the deadly effect of pesticides. In Silent Spring, Carson describes entire lakes that became almost completely devoid of life after DDT was applied (Carson 45 49). Silent Spring triggered a powerful public response immediately after its publication. Many people were convinced of the hazards of pesticide use, but some accused Carson of exaggerating the danger. Despite its critics, Silent Spring eventually triggered an outburst of environmentalismthat

(Bazin 1967: 13), one has to first define what is meant by art. This commentary is going to examine this statement using three different definitions of art, Bazin s, Tolstoy s and Arnheim s definitions. Andre Bazin believed realism lies at the heart of art, and that art is the process of reproducing reality. He believed that an artefact should helps us to remember the subject and to preserve him from a second spiritual death (Bazin 1967: 10). Although modification of photos is possible, it is important to note that it is frowned upon amongst those who practice photography as an art, as the central idea behind the art of photography is realism, and being able to produce something that someone will look at later and admire. If we use Bazin s definition of art, a realistic recreation of an object or person, photography does benefit from an absence of man, as it is not influenced by minds of individuals, and produces an exact copy of the subject. And although many artistes have tried to be as objective as possible, and have produced portraits of man and landscapes that resemble their subjects very closely, they still lack the clarity and detail that a photo can provide. The reason behind this is that no human brain can ever be as objective as a camera, as their illustrations is based on their perception and their view of the world, which can differ from man to man. At the other end of spectrum lies Rudolf Arnheim definition of art, which states art is something that is a pure work of man. For Arnheim a piece of work would have to be made by man in every sense, the idea and the production process, to be considered art. Arnheim also believed film will be able to reach the heights of the other arts only when it frees

She always got along really well with children. When she noticed that the kids were not allowed to have an easter egg hunt, she generously offered up the White House grounds to host the event. This demonstration of kindness really proved that Lucy Hayes was a sweet soul that loved kids. While she was a First Lady, she visited the Deaf and the National Soldier s Home for disabled veterans. She did all kinds of great things for this organization including donating money to them and giving them attention. Lucy also gave generous gifts to children s hospitals around her area. History.com says, arranged for flowers to be delivered from her greenhouses to the local children s hospital (Lucy Hayes). She was a very generous person and felt a need to help others. She enjoyed the feeling she got after she knew that she was helping people less fortunate than her. Lucy also demonstrated her kindness when she was raising funds for the poorer communities in Washington D.C. She urged members of her husband s cabinet to donate money to help the less fortunate. Of course, she led by example and donated around $1,000 dollars of her own money. This truly showed what a kind person she was and that she held other people in a high regard (Lucy
  • 43. Solid Lead Iodide Lab Report Discussion: There are numerous ways of isolating and purifying a substance, and an investigation of the differences of each procedure were performed. In two different procedures, lead nitrate and potassium iodide were used to isolate and purify pure solid lead iodide, and the differences in the limiting reactant and solid lead iodide was observed. The amount of solid lead iodide was calculated by the measuring the mass of which the solid lead iodide was created in before and after the purification of solid lead iodide. The purification and isolation of solid lead iodide was achieved in two different process with different results. In the evaporation collection, the solid iodide was created by adding heat to the water base solution of lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the evaporation collection, potassium nitrate was left behind in the casserole dish. If no potassium nitrate was present the percent yield would be closer to 100% yield, but this is not the case. The percent yield for the evaporation collection was 144% yield which is not close to 100% yield. The evaporation collection procedure was able to achieve over 75% yield with a percent yield of 144%, while the vacuum filtration was unable to achieve the goal with only 56.9% yield. The evaporation collection was able to achieve the 144% yield by carefully transferring all of the liquid from the test tube to the casserole dish with accuracy and using distilled water in the procedure. Based on the percent yields, the evaporation collection technique would be the best option since it achieved 144% yield, which is over the 75% yield goal. Although the evaporation collection attained a better percent yield, the vacuum filtration produces a purer lead iodide because the potassium nitrate is filtered out of the Buchner funnel, while in the evaporation collection keeps the potassium nitrate in the casserole dish. In this experiment, there are two different systematic errors to consider. In the evaporation collection, the casserole dish that was used had an uneven edge which could have allowed some of the solution, which contained lead
  • 44. What Is The Theme Of The Eve Of St Keats In The Eve of St. Agnes, Keats finds out a happy alternative of Isabella, Lamia, and the other darker odes linking with death or failure. The major theme of this poem is the celebration of human love and as the representative of critics it is an imaginative projection of young love (Stillinger, 1999, p. 38). There is no other way of reading the poem than of an intense, happy, achieved lovethat makes it the contrast of Isabella. It is a romantic love which has the heavenly experience and through Keats magic Madeline and Porphyro fell they are in heaven. The poem tells the story of Madeline and her lover Porphyro who are deeply in love but their families are against of it. Madeline is practicing a St. Agnes Eve ritual to fulfill her dream... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Agnes is one of Keats s best loved works or it is a celebration of romantic love. Here Keats represents himself somewhere in the form of the narrator and somewhere in the character of Porphyro. The main characters Madeline and Porphyro who achieve their secret love and boldly escape from the decaying castle are associated with Keats and Fanny Brawne. Keats shows the superstition connection with St. Agnes Eve invites the emotional warmth of his happy lover Fanny Brawne. The character of Porphyro is compared with Keats feelings and also his expression of ambivalence toward women. No other poet of the Romantic period seems to have been influenced so deeply by a woman than Keats. It is his love for Fanny Brawne that inspires him to write much of his poetry after December of 1818. John Middleton Murry writes in the same year, If the crude equation be taken with enough imaginative margins, we may say that Madeline is Fanny and Keats Porphyro and The Eve of St. Agnes was the first poem in which Keats was inspired by his love for Fanny Brawne . Similarly, Murry also says that not only in The Eve of St. Agnes but also in Lamia Keats is Lycius, Fanny Brawne is the Lamia, and Apollonius is Charles Brown the realist, trying to break Fanny s spell over Keats by insisting upon her as the female animal. The identification seems transparent (Stillinger, 1999, p.

  • 46. The Importance Of The NBA The NBA is one of the most entertaining sports known to man. The NBA consists of a lot of highlights, most of the highlights have nothing to do with actually playing basketball. The NBA provides various organizations to help the less fortunate, they also do a lot of camps and gatherings to make better players out of younger kids. Also, the NBA brings so many eye catching aspects to the game, such as special uniforms for holidays, expensive tennis shoes and amazing in games moves only the best of the best can master. But just like everyone else the NBA isn t perfect, it s a game of favoritism and personal agendas. The NBA is getting bigger and bigger every year it continues. • 47. `` Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History `` Multiple Meanings Laurel Thatcher Ulrich, in a scholarly article written in 1976, wrote that well behaved women seldom make history (Ulrich XIII). Over time, that phrase has became a slogan for feminists around the world. It appears on many products and media, like shirts, jewelry, and even wine glasses. At the time she wrote it, she meant for it to mean that women who are well behaved do not get their stories told, even if they did something extraordinary or heroic, though now, people interpret it in many different ways. Fig. 1. Well behaved women seldom make history shirt (Customized Girl). The most common product with the phrase well behaved women seldom make history being sold on Amazon is, by far, shirts. There is a variety... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This interpretation, compared to how Ulrich meant for the quote to be interpreted is quite different. Ulrich wanted the quote to represent how women who do not do something bad, rarely get their stories told, no matter how heroic their actions were, while the creators of this shirt want women to speak out, to make change, and to create equality for everyone, which, by some people, is seen as wrong for women to do. Although what the designers of this product seem to be aiming for is different than what Ulrich originally meant for her quote, I am sure that Ulrich still would support that message. Fig. 2. Well behaved women seldom make history necklace (Amazon) Another product that stood out was a necklace. It is a bronze colored chain with a round, white pendant, that is maybe an inch in diameter. The pendant has the quote well behaved women seldom make history on it, with Laurel Thatcher Ulrich credited beneath it. Similarly to the shirt, women and history are in a bigger font (see Fig. 2). It is being sold by a seller called DSD, whose main products seem to be similar jewelry, many of which are small, literature related products, with quotes from various books on them. This product, out of the three analyzed here, is probably the closest to how Ulrich meant for her quote to be interpreted. It is a small pendant that people are not going to be able to read
  • 48. Film Analysis Of Wyatt Earp Throughout the years, there has been an abundance of movies depicting the wild west during the nineteenth century. One of these films includes Tombstone which was released in the year 1993. Based on real events, this movie is about a man named Wyatt Earp, played by Kurt Russel, who is a retired officer that settles in a town called Tombstonewith his two brothers. Later, they encounter a group of outlaws called the Cowboys which was led by Curly Bill and Johnny Ringo. Due to some conflict between the opposing sides, it causes a massive gunfight called the O.K. Corral in which the Earp brothers and long time friend Doc Holliday, played by Val Kilmer, ultimately win the battle. As a result of the fight not ending in the Cowboys favor, they ambush the town in which leads to Virgil, played by Sam Elliot (Tombstone, 1.), becoming handicapped and Wyatt s younger brother, Morgan played by Bill Paxton, dead. This infuriates Wyatt which then leads him to seek vengeance for his brother s death. While Wyatt kills Curly, Doc and their posse attack the remaining Cowboys. After the ambush, Doc s tuberculosis progressively gets worse and is left on bed rest. As Wyatt and the posse continue to meet up with Johnny and the Cowboys, Doc has already arrived and murders Johnny legally. Tombstone, compared to other films, gives a realistic depiction of the west of that time period based on the set. It is based on a real place located in southern Arizona . This little town was established in 1877
