Mla Essay Style
Writing an essay on the MLA (Modern Language Association) essay style can be a challenging
task that requires a comprehensive understanding of the guidelines and rules set forth by this
particular formatting style. The MLA style is widely used in academic writing, and adhering to
its intricate specifications can be daunting for those unfamiliar with its intricacies.
One of the difficulties lies in mastering the specific rules related to citations, bibliography, and
formatting. The MLA style has strict guidelines for citing sources, including proper formatting of
in-text citations and constructing a detailed bibliography. The nuances of citing various types of
sources, such as books, articles, and online resources, can be perplexing and time-consuming.
Another challenge is maintaining consistency throughout the essay. The MLA style demands
uniformity in formatting, which extends to margins, font, spacing, and headers. Achieving this
consistency while ensuring that the content meets the academic standards can be a meticulous
and demanding process.
Furthermore, staying updated with the latest revisions and changes to the MLA style adds an
extra layer of complexity. The guidelines may evolve over time, and writers must stay informed
to ensure their essays comply with the most recent standards.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the MLA essay style involves grappling with a set of intricate
rules related to citations, formatting, and consistency. It requires meticulous attention to detail
and a dedication to mastering the nuances of this particular academic style.

The Violations On The Right Of Education By The State
Of...
INTRODUCTION
This paper will focus on the violations on the Right to Education by the State of
Mourinholand under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural
Rights as well as its violations under various other universal and regional instruments,
the various modes and conditions for bringing complaints of violations to the council
and committee will further be discussed here.
The International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Right was adopted and
opened for signature by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 16th of
December, 1966 to give members of a state party a right to self determination. The
covenant contains the right to Education, Health, and Cultural Life etc. The Right to
Education was first discussed under article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights, 1948 . This right constitutes the first ever recognition of a general right in an
international instrument in explicit terms. Article 26 has subsequently been
reaffirmed and made more detailed by articles 13 and 14 of the International
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, article 13 (3) (a) of the
Additional Protocol to the America Convention on Human Rights in the area of
Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and article 17 of the African Charter on
Human and Peoples rights . Asbjorn Eider propounded the theory that State Parties to
the Covenant are bound to Respect, Protect and Fulfill all the rights enshrined in the
ICESCR. By respecting the
Street Dreams And Hip Hop Barber Shops Summary
Brad Weiss s ethnographic research on popular culture, hanging out in barbershops
and bus stands, seamstress tables and video halls, was carried out in the northern
Tanzanian city of Arusha. In Street Dreams and Hip Hop Barber Shops Weiss does
a great job observing the everyday life of the people in Arusha. He explores how
globalization and neoliberalism affect the mindset of a community and shows the
reader how gender role, media, and self fashioning can play a big role in a person
life. Weiss s fieldwork and observation is very accurate and informative for the
most part but looses the reader in some of the topics that he presents. Brad Weiss
does a great job in his chapter on gender and the role that it plays in the community of

He explains to the reader that the young men and women of Arusha are social
actors who try to find a niche and struggle to participate in a world that is
significant for them. I strongly agree with Weiss s point and believe that every
young person in any society are social actors who try to fit in a world that they feel
is right for them and use popular culture and globalization as a tool to get there. Brad
Weiss does a great job showing the reader that barbershops around Tanzaniaare more
than just a place for getting a haircut. He explains to the reader in great detail that
the people of Tanzania see barbershops as a place for obtaining news, catching up
on the latest trends, gossip, discovering new music, or just simply hanging out.
Barbershops provide men with a chance , an opportunity or a place during times of
uncertainty. Weiss spends most of his time at barbershops because it is a great place
for studying popular culture and allows him to see what the clients at these barber
shops find interesting. There were some things that I found problematic in Weiss s
writing that can turn off some readers. Some parts of the book he tends to over
analyze and bore the reader with useless facts. I found myself
Key Communication Skills In Human Services
In human services, there are many different fields in which one can find employment.
Examples of these fields include; working with individuals, families, communities,
group work, child protection, domestic violence, as well as those suffering from
disabilities. Despite which field one chooses to work in, all practitioners must have
the essential key communicationskills needed. The six key communication skills are;
clarifying roles, confidentiality, listening skills, open and closed questions,
paraphrasing, and attending. In the essay below, I will further describe these
communication skills as well as analyse how well these skills were used in my
interview.
Communication is defined as the sharing of thoughts, feelings, attitudes and ... Show

My clients was seeking assistance to move out from living with her boyfriend,
who had began to be verbally abusive as well as portray controlling behaviour,
leaving her in an uncomfortable and unsafe environment. Looking back at the
interview, I can clearly see the communication skills that were used, and the skills,
which lacked. Firstly I ll evaluate the skills which I think I portrayed. In regards to
the communication skills, at the beginning of the interview I did clarify roles with
the client however I felt as though this could have been done a little bit better. In
regards to confidentiality, I believe that this concept was communicated well
because I specifically told the client about confidentiality and that any information
regarding harm would be told others. I believe this was good as it gave the client
the opportunity to decide if they wished to continue, and feel comfortable that any
information told would remain between me and her. I noticed that during the
interview open and close ended questions were asked which allowed the client to
elaborate furthur on her statements as well as make simple confirmations. For
example, Going back to what you said earlier about having fights with your
boyfriend, could you elaborate on that ? This allowed

First chapter of Billy Sunday The first chapter of Billy Sunday gives us an insight
of the early childhood of Billy Sunday. Billy and Ed Sunday departed on a train
from Ames, Iowa to go to the Soldiers Orphans Home at Glenwood, because Ms.
Sunday, who lost her husband in the war, could not afford to keep her kids at home
and take care of them. Ed Sunday was the brother of Billy. On the way to the orphan
home, the train stopped in Council Bluffs and they had to take a freight train to rest

finally answered and a preacher from a Presbyterian Church in Garner, Iowa asked
him to preach at a city wide revival. Billy accepted and led 268 people to salvation.
In the next five years, Billy held 60 revival meetings. Finally, he hired Fred
Fischer, his full time song leader, in 1900 to travel with him. Billy did his
campaigns in a tent and in 1905 ten inches of snow made the tent collapse. He never
again used tents, but used tabernacles instead. Billy was now very popular and did a

Rise of the Muslim Brotherhood
The Rise of the Muslim Brotherhood
The Muslim Brotherhood is the largest Islamist organization in Egypt. It was
founded in the 1920s by Hassan Al Banna. The movement was a model of political
activism combined with Islamic charity work. At first, it only aimed to spread
Islamic morals, but soon became involved in politics. While the Muslim Brotherhood
claims that it supports democratic principles, it aims to create a state ruled by Al
Shariaa. Al Shariaa is the Islamic law stated in the Quran. The Brotherhood s
mostly used slogan is Islam is the solution , and it is known worldwide. It officially
opposes violence to achieve goals; however, some of the movement s members were
involved in massacres, bombings and assassinations of ... Show more content on

The movement is currently seeking to avoid full authority. It is, however, focusing
on the longer term. The Brotherhood is aiming for a leading role in the process of
writing a new constitution. Indeed, it is not clear if the old strategies of the Muslim
Brotherhood will guide their actions through the coming days (Brown). Another
cause to the success of the Muslim Brotherhood is that its offices acted as social
service agencies. During winter people used to drop in asking for blankets, which
the party handed them out along with their brochures. They as well helped several
people in paying their medical bills (Kristof).
According to interviews I have conducted with different Freedom and Justice Party s
supporters, I have discovered some of the reasons why they voted for them in the
elections. Some people believe that Islam is the only solution for building a new,
better and safer Egypt after the 25th of January revolution. They believe that if the
candidates are God fearing and obeying they won t be corrupt. Another reason is
that some members of the Freedom and Justice Party offered financial help for
those who would vote for them. Most of the people I interviewed were from a low
social standard; therefore, they were in need of this help. In fact, the Muslim
Brotherhood exploited poor people to gain more votes. That is mostly how they
attempted to win most of

The landscape of the telecommunication industry in Sri Lanka has been changed
drastically since the deregulation of telecommunication sector in early 1990s.
Number of service providers has been increased from one, i.e state monopoly, to more
than 70 within a short period of time. With the increased competition telecom service
providers find it difficult to retain the existing customers. In that context the objective

The relationship is seen as mediated by social norms and situational factors.
Cognitive, affective, and conative antecedents of relative attitude are identified as
contributing to loyalty, along with motivational, perceptual, and behavioural
consequences ( Dick and Basu , 1994).
In the customer centred business, survival remains to the degree that customer
satisfaction is met. Previous research studies have shows that the repurchase intent
was the main benefit of customer retention. However, some had identified multiple
benefits like repurchase intent, price tolerance, willingness to recommend etc. In
reaching retention, vendors should manage satisfaction and consequences of
Customer Loyalty (Naranyandas, 1998). Loyalty too has a pyramid effect that
suggests of having hierarchy in loyalty levels between customer and vendor. Change
in loyalty level will manifest itself in the presence of specific attitude and behaviour
(Aaker, 1991).
Customer loyalty and satisfaction are integral part of customer retention process.
Customer Retention is a primary measure of loyalty. There is a positive relationship
between changes in satisfaction and share of wallet. In particular, the initial
satisfaction level and the conditional percentage of change in satisfaction
significantly correspond to changes in share of wallet. Income and length of the
relationship negatively
The Old Man And The Sea Short Story
The Old Man and the Sea is the story of a fight between an elderly, accomplished
fisherman, Santiago, and a really big fish. Like... HUGE. The story opens with
Santiago suffering eighty four days without catching a fish because he s the
unluckiest son of a bitch on planet earth. Honestly, if you were in a boat for eighty
four days, it d be hard to NOT catch a fish... even by accident. Santiago was so
unlucky that his apprentice, Manolin, was forbidden by his Ma and Pa to fish with
him. But as The Fresh Prince used to say, Parents Just
Don t Understand . So the boy visits Santiago s shack anyway.
Ignoring the inherent risks of unsupervised playtime with an elderly man who talks to
himself, Manolin helps out, moving
Santiago s fishing gear, making food and talking about baseball. Especially Joe
DiMaggio; who used to bump fuzzies with Marilyn Monroe. The next day, Santiago
tells Manolin that he s going way out into the Gulf Stream. WAY OUT north of
Cuba. Lady luck is returning! On the eighty fifth day of his crappy luck, Santiago
drops his lines, and by noon, gets a bite from what feels like a big ass fish. He s
sure it s a winner. He fights and fights and fights but can t pull the monster in.
Santiago s leaky old boat is pulled by the fish for two days and nights as he holds
on for dear life. Even though he s bloody and beat, Santiago begins to appreciate this
mighty adversary. He starts calling him brother or maybe even,
bro. It s sort of a love story if you really think
Raskolnikov Quotes Analysis
1. I ought to be crucified, crucified on a cross, not pitied! Crucify me, oh judge,
crucify me but pity me! (1.2.36)
In this quote, Marmeladov wants to suffer like Jesus, and he hopes to be cleansed
of his sins. He doesn t want to pitied, but rather crucified then makes a twist in his
requests and wants to be crucified and pitied. This is seen as a very human feeling
as he wants to alleviate weight from his shoulders by sharing his sins and suffering
to a stranger that won t really judge him negatively but rather feel sorry for him.
2. Bitter is the ascent to Golgotha (1.4.1)
In this quote, Raskolnikov is thinking about Golgotha (the location where Jesus was
crucified). He is comparing Dounia to Jesus. He thinks that she is sacrificing ... Show

In this quote, Raskolnikov assumes that Sonia does her work in a robotic way, with
no feeling, he indicates that prostitution can actually have an impact on the heart,
and by that he really means soul. A moment later, he suggests that if she were to
stay a prostitute, she will either go crazy, kill herself, or start to enjoy it. So
basically speaking, if she continues being a prostitute, she will lose her soul. He sees
her as the criminal here, even though she doesn t see him as one.

Bariatric Implication
The surging adult obesity rate has contributed to the booming demand for bariatric
(weight loss) surgeries around the world. People in need of significant body mass
reduction are now increasingly opting for weight loss surgery procedures to tackle
their weight issues.
Today there are several types of bariatric surgeries that promise to significantly
reduce the BMI of chronically obese patients.
The different types of bariatric surgeries include the Gastric Bypass, the Lap Band
surgery, Roux en Y Gastric Bypass, Vertical Banded Gastroplasty and newer
procedures called Gastric Sleeve and Gastric Plication.
These surgical procedures are done on the stomach and/or intestines to alter the

The gastric plication is potentially reversible and can be converted to another
procedure if required.
Although gastric placation surgery is considered safe and effective in producing
substantial weight loss in obese patients, it is still vital that the prospective patient is
closely evaluated to ensure suitability for the weight loss surgery.
Advantages
The surgery is often performed laparoscopically, which means smaller surgical cuts,
shorter recovery time, and reduced chance of risks and complications.
It is completely reversible. Sutures used to fold the stomach can be removed if
necessary, and the original stomach capacity can be restored.
Following the surgery, the stomach s nutrition absorbing capacity remains intact.
The surgery doesn t cause a decreased or limited absorption of nutrients by the small
intestine.
Gastric plication does not require removal of stomach, intestinal rerouting or
implantation of any foreign device no staples, no bands, no fills, no
Creek Indian War Strategy
From 1813 until 1814, United States was involved in a war with The Creek Indians
people call that event as Creek War. This war went to a climatic episode when it
reached Horseshoe bend, Alabama on March 27. This climax was a conflict
between The Red Stick faction of Upper Creek Indians and the Americans and
their Cherokee, Choctaw and Lower Creek Allies. It is very interesting to analyze
the barricade made by The Red Stick to defend their selves from the attack and also
the strategy that General Andrew Jackson brought to offend the Red Stick in that
war. This essay has an aim to describe the war strategy used by both sides and also
explain the chronological order of the event. (Futato, 1986, p.94).
The battle of horseshoe bend was a final battle of The Creek War. This war happen
as an impact of American Expansion. Most of the land in the United States was
belongs to Indian Tribes. They had live before the civilization of America was
developed. The expansion made The Creek Indians as the owner of the land was
being offended by the action of American, and then they tried to defend their
homeland as strong as they could. However, American did not give it easy, they
struggle for the land and that is why this war was happening. (Keene, 2013, p. 222) ...

Once The Red Stick become aware of the attack, Jackson quickly ordered a frontal
assault that poured over the barricade; the attack has pressurized the Red Stick
from all directions. As their position was in a corner, there was no other chance for
them except to deal with the bullets. Fighting ranged over the peninsula s south end
through the afternoon. By dark, at least 800 of Chief Menawa s 1,000 Red Sticks
were dead. Menawa was severely wounded but managed to escape. (Futato, 1986,

popular movie quotes. Dirty Harryis a film directed by Don Siegel. Client Eastwood

Simple Church Model Of Self Leadership
God s timing is perfect and there is a reason why I felt a sense of urgency in
beginning the MOL program this summer. The ministry at the church I serve is
experiencing some growing pains and as a church we are assessing the mission
and vision to determine whether it is still God s mission and vision for our
congregation. Regardless of whether our vision remains the same or we develop a
new mission and vision, our church needs to realign our ministries around that
mission and vision and determine what ministries will continue, what needs to be let
go of, and what new plans God may have waiting in our future. Much of what I ve

Black women and feminism a voice. This was set forward in order to change the

Similarities Between Jesus s Sermon On The Mount And...
Similarity between Sermon on the Mount and Jataka Tales
Introduction
Buddhism and Christianity are closely related in many unique ways. While their
founders exhibit significant differences in when they began their existence in the
world, their teachings hugely resemble each other. Gautama Buddha was reported
to have lived about 600 or 500 before Christ was born. Buddha was born in Nepal,
India while Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is currently located in Palestine.
Both Jesus and Buddha espoused altruism and always insisted in service of others.
They emphasized the need for giving than receiving and both believed in love as the
only tool of defeating hatred. Both teachings contained the need not to judge others.
A key difference between the two was how Buddha taught followers to lose one s
self to receive Nirvana while Jesus encouraged his people to lose one s self in order
to receive an everlasting life (Talim, Jeffrey Anant, 67). This assignment attempts to
highlight the similarity between Jesus s Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha s
Jataka Tales.
Similarity between Jesus s Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha s Jataka Tales.
Jesus s Sermon on the Mount, as outlined in the book of Matthew chapter five to
seven, employed ordinary worldly objects and events that people associated with
daily to communicate a divine message. For instance, Jesus challenged his followers
that they should be salt and light in the world and should strive to change the world

Merry-Go-Round by Langston Hughes
Merry Go Round is a poem about a little colored child that goes to the carnival. The
child wants to ride the merry go round, but has a problem finding the back. From
where the child comes from, Jim Crow laws segregate the blacks from the whites.
This poem has a lot of depth and meaning, although it sounds very simple. It also tells
us the mindset of most blacks in the South in the days of segregation. I chose this
poem because the boy s innocence was touching and its deep meaning was very
powerful. In the beginning, the child asks, Where is the Jim Crow section on this
merry go round, mister, cause I want to ride? in lines 1 3. Jim Crow laws are laws
that segregate the blacks from the whites, so you can infer that the Jim Crow
section is solely for the blacks. If you go to a carnival right now, colored children
won t be asking for the direction to the Jim Crow section. This points out that in
the old days, blacks had to sit in different sections than the whites. The child then
continues to say, Down South where I come from white and colored can t sit side
by side. In lines 4 6. As I said above, blacks had to sit in separate sections away from
the whites down in the South. In addition, this tells you how sever racism was in
the South because even a child knows that blacks and whites were supposed to be
segregated. The child continues on and says, Down South on the train there s a Jim
Crow car. On the bus we re put in the back, but there ain t no back to a

My mind is a lot stronger than my body and I can t lie and say that it doesn t bother
my state of mind on most days. I have to fight against the pain that I feel everyday
and try not to complain about it unless it s completely unbearable at that moment.
It can take a good thirty minutes to an hour to get out of bed when I wake up
because my limbs might be temporarily paralyzed or my heart is tachycardic and
there s nothing I can do about it. But once I get myself together after I wake up, I
say a prayer, think positive thoughts and go on about my day!
Because my days are so unpredictable, I literally have to take one day at a time.
Planning upcoming days can seem like an impossible feat because I never know
how my body will respond. Most bloggers are great at planning their blog schedules
ahead of time and sticking to it. To be honest, I started to develop blogger envy
because I would read posts about how well other bloggers could stick to their

was struggling with growing my following on social networks because I couldn t
be as consistent as them. That destroyed my inner peace and I never should of let
that happen because most of those bloggers don t face the same challenges as me
and I shouldn t have been comparing my grass to anyone else s, to begin with!

Comparing the Themes of Love in Lord Byron s “She
Walks in...
There are many different themes that can be used to make a poem both successful
and memorable. Such is that of the universal theme of love. This theme can be
developed throughout a poem through an authors use of form and content. She Walks
in Beauty, by George Gordon, Lord Byron, is a poem that contains an intriguing form
with captivating content. Lord Byron, a nineteenth century poet, writes this poem
through the use of similes and metaphors to describe a beautiful woman. His patterns
and rhyme scheme enthrall the reader into the poem. Another poem with the theme of
loveis John Keats La Belle Dame sans Merci, meaning the beautiful lady without
mercy. Keats, another nineteenth century writer, uses progression and compelling...

The last line compares the maiden to Heaven because they both deny bad days.
The second stanza of Lord Byron s poem focuses on the woman s perfect face. The
beautiful shades and rays of the womans complexion make her a nameless grace (2,
2). This conveys the idea that her inner beauty is reflected in her outer beauty in the
sense that she is pure and innocent on the inside so she radiates that beauty on the
outside. This stanza reveals her serene thoughts: Where thoughts serenely sweet
express, How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
The dwelling place is her pure mind. This maiden can be called an innocent love
because Lord Byron s use of words propose that she may have never been in love,
so she does not know about it. The last stanza in this poem considers the woman s
physical description and moral character. Her so soft [and] so calm flow radiates
peace and goodness.
This woman may remind the reader of an angel when thinking of this description.
The last line, a heart whose love is innocent, reflects that the woman is truly pure
and has a good heart. This line leave the reader feeling very peaceful knowing that
this maiden is pure and true in her innocence. La Belle Dame sans Merci takes on a
different view of the theme of love. This poem is broken down into three parts. In
the first part of the poem, the speaker appears to be some unknown person who asks

Swot Study And SWOT Analysis Of Tata Motors
Introduction
India is a developing country and is have lot of population with middle and lower
middle class. Two wheeler is most affordable vehicle for personnel ownership.
Many couples with kids travel in single two wheeler. It was Ratan Tata s dream to
have a car, which these families can afford [3].
2.1Background study and SWOT analysis of NANO car
2.1.1 About TATA MOTORS[1]
TATA Motors is India s market leader and largest automobile industry. It is
established in 1945. First TATA vehicle rolled out in 1954 and today over 8 million
vehicles ply on Indian roads. Consolidated revenue for 2013 14 is INR 2,32,834

1,00,000 and cost is increased to Rs. 1,50,000 in 2010 [8]. Competitors for NANO
car in price are used car market and small cars like Maruti 800. Also NANO car has
potential to attract two wheeler users. Cost of NANO car should be competitive for
all these segments.
2.3.3 Promotion Strategy
Tata admitted that, promoting and placing NANO car as world s cheapest car was
to blame for in failure in gaining success [11]. Positioning car is very important
and it should give positive impact for the customers. NANO car should be
promoted as safe alternative to attract two wheeler customer. And TATA Motors
already started promoting it as smart city car instead of cheapest car to attract urban
customers. Its price, safety and car image should be collectively promoted to send a
message to customers to be proud of having it. Social media also should be used to
for promotion.
2.3.4 Distribution
TATA NANO will compete with two wheeler customers as well as small car users. It
is important to have sales network in tyre II cities and small towns. People who
know how to buy a two wheeler should also know with same ease how to buy a
TATA NANO car. Exposure of two wheeler customer to NANO car will increase its
sales from that
Descriptive Flight
Hurry up! Get all your things ready! We leave in five minutes! exclaimed mom. It
was three o clock in the morning and we were going on our spring break vacation
to sunny Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. I remember being very excited and anxious to
get on the airplane. I am very traditional and make sure after all of the dreaded
security and airportnonsense that we always go to the same bagel restaurant. This
always got the vacation started for me. After boarding the airplane and getting up into
the maximum altitude, I am always rest assured that in another two hours, we will be
on the ground in Florida1,000 miles away from home. On the plane ride, I find it
hard to keep still but I fell asleep and before I knew it, the pilot was announcing,
Flight Attendants, prepare for landing. This is where I make sure I have all my
belongings and begin to watch the what looked like dots on the ground turn into trees,
cars, and buildings. Soon after that, the final bump of the landing process that is
usually felt strongly throughout the plane wasn t present, and people clapped for
such a smooth landing.
Next came my least favorite part, retrieving our bags from the baggage claim. This
is always a stressful part of traveling, but during this particular trip, it was
exceptionally annoying. The conveyor belt broke causing all of the luggage to be
stopped up in the slot. This caused tremendous crowding and aggravation for travelers
in the Jacksonville International Airport.

Gossip Girl is an American teen soap opera based on the book series by Cecily von
Ziegesar. The show welcomes viewers into the exclusive, luxury world of the
wealthy and connected as they try to live their lives despite the drama that comes
with their power, reputation and wealth. The story follows Dan Humphrey, the so
called lonely boy and Brooklyn outsider, as he tries to fit in with the privileged teens
who lead turbulent, exorbitant lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Gossip Girl

Ultimately, the privileged Upper East Side lifestyle is a metaphor for the American
Dream. While the show presents this lifestyle as the goal, it also suggest that like the
modern day American Dream, it is unattainable. While Gossip Girl was intended to
mock immoral societal values, the plot actually romanticizes materialism, ego and
moral corruption to create drama and viewer interest. The character of Blair Waldorf
exemplifies consumerism and obsession with material items. Blair is known as the
Queen Bee of the Upper East Side. She is intelligent and talented but competitive,
egotistical, and ruthless. She defines herself by others perceptions of her. Most of
all she is known for her fashion, everything she wears is articulately planning and
exceedingly pricey. As she says, Fashion knows not of comfort. All that matters is
the face that you show the world . Although her shopping exploits would be
considered excession by many normal Americans, as sociology professor Evan
Cooper points out, the show never condemns Blair for being frivolous and
extravagant. The continuous reference to and display of designer items, expensive
vacations, luxury cars and parties contributes a brand name culture (Pattee). Media
texts such as TV shows are known as unofficial socializing agents. Media should not
shape our societal values and view of the world, but nevertheless they do. (Bindig).

The close of the First World War gave a new twist to the labour policy, as it created
certain social, economic and political conditions that raised new hopes among the
people for a new social order. There was intense labour unrest because workers
earnings did not keep pace with the rise in prices and with their aspirations. The
constitutional developments in India led to the election of representatives to the
Central and Provincial legislatures who took a leading role in initiating social
legislation. The establishment of International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 1919
greatly influenced the labour legislation and industrial relations policy in India. The
emergence of trade unions in India, particularly the formation of All India Trade

industrial relations in our country. Second Phase: The policy after the First World

Walking into the office, Carrie noticed that everyone seemed tense. She walked to
Melissa s desk, an old friend and coworker, and stated, What s going on? Why does
everyone look so agitated? she said in a low voice. We re about to have a meeting

happened? . Well, Jerry wrote a letter venting about the Boss, and he made a mistake

was to send it to Maggie, but he sent it to the Boss instead. And it gets worst Maggie

stated they were going to file complaints. Personally, I don t think the Boss handled

If Michael Jordan is that crying meme fella, Phil Jackson is that old man on a bus

This is how the generation after the post Jordan generation will remember him.
They have no fond memories to call back to. Jackson s once notorious and
applauded approach of getting to his players via the media are through their eyes
viewed as an elderly fellow not being man enough to confront his talent in person.
It isn t all bad news.
As much as people are in the moment prejudice, they are as quickly to move on to the
next trending topic. Phil Jackson getting fired from the Knicks is the it topic today,
but the moment another public figure does something notable, a basketball loving

It gives Jackson a chance, indirectly, to be saved from himself. A fleeting, even if
incredibly long chance that a few decades from now he won t be remembered more
for his bumbling front office career, but for the man who led Michael Jordan and the
Bulls to six titles and the guy who corralled the brutal Kobe Shaq relationship to a

Jackson s story won t solely be told by media or fans. We like to believe the public

It will be players who will help in crafting his lasting memory on the sport. With

We Must Stop The Meat And Poultry
Consuming food throughout the years, many people have enjoyed the savory
flavor and tenderness of raw food such as meat and poultry. Although, many people
do not know where their food is coming from and on top of that, the industries are
keeping their mouths shut from explaining where and how our food is being
processed. As consumers, we all deserve to know what we are putting in our bodies
to prevent major casualties, though the only reason why industries are keeping shut
is because none of them do not want to be sued by someone who recently got sick or

how their food is being handled and where their food is coming from our healthy

Leon Festinger s Theory Of Cognitive Dissonance
This essay will evaluate the presentation of Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive
dissonance in the world of social psychology. Throughout I will discuss the
establishment of his theory, it s supporting evidence and any limitations of this. I will
also deliberate what it can explain and the alternative explanations presented by other
psychologists; how they differ from Festinger s, how they add to Festinger s original
theory and finally how they extend the knowledge in understanding the interaction
between thoughts and actions to question the position of rivalry over cohesion
between them all.
The theory of cognitive dissonance was introduced by Leon Festinger in 1957, a time

It is regarded as a counterintuitive social theory as it implied that actions influenced
attitudes as opposed to the alternative notion, once seen as the more reasonable,
(Miller J. L., 2012). His theory of cognitive dissonance is still referenced today in
numerous credible and published work either in support of the theory or to suggest
revisions, (Dember Jenkins, 1970) cited from Cognitive Dissonance Theory (n.d.),
revealing a lasting impact.
Social psychologist Herbert C. Kelman (1953) first investigated cognitive dissonance
through the consequences of forced compliance and hypothesised the opposite of his
data findings, which revealed that counter attitudinal advocacy occurred more often
in low reward circumstances in comparison to higher reward.
Festinger and James M. Carlsmith (1959), similarly followed to find supporting
evidence of the cognitive dissonance theory. They conducted an experiment in the
U.S. concerning the cognitive consequence of forced compliance and found similar
results. The study involved 71 male participants where they were given two
monotonous tasks of filling a tray and turning 48 pegs clockwise, both with one hand
and for half an hour each. The participants where split into groups, where one
received one dollar for their time and the other received twenty dollars. Both low
reward and high reward groups where then asked to recommend the experiment to
future participants, who were secretly confederates.
A Literature Of Place Barry Lopez Summary
Summary
In A Literature of Place , author Barry Lopez begins his work by stating that a kind
of writing called nature writing or landscape writing has begun to receive more
attention, creating the belief that it was a relatively new type of writing (at the time).
It was actually quite the opposite. According to Lopez, writing about the impact that
nature and location has on culture is one of the oldest, and perhaps most singular,
threads in American writing. The real topic of nature writing, Lopez says, is not
nature but the evolving structure of communities from which nature has been
removed, often as a consequence of modern economic development. Lopez also states
that it is his belief that a human imagination is shaped by the environment ... Show

For example, Lopez s imagination was shaped by the abnormal nature of water in
a drought stricken California valley, the sound of wind rustling the leaves of
eucalyptus trees, the tilled earth of crop fields, the beautiful sunsets over alfalfa
fields, the smell of flowers near the orchard, and the aftermath of a Pacific storm
ravaging a coastal beach. He then writes that it s important to become intimate
with a place, meaning that instead of simply observing your surroundings and
watching the world go by, you should find a special place in your heart for a
certain area that s special to you in some way. He s essentially saying that your
should take this place into your very being on a spiritual level. Finally, Lopez
states that he and many others wonder why people have become so anxious over
undeveloped land. The answer is simple. These places hold a special place in their
hearts, and they don t want to see them go. It may be more important now to enter
into an ethical and reciprocal relationship with everything around us than to
continue to work toward the sort of control of the physical world that, until
recently, we aspired to, (A Literature of Place) says Lopez. He ends his writing by
saying this; We keep each other alive with our stories. We need to share them, as
much as we need to share food. We also require for our health the presence of good
Why We Shouldn T Censorship Be Allowed In Schools
Nudity, Profanity, and religious beliefs, oh my! What do all three of these things
have in common? They are all censored for the sake of our children. But think
realistically; almost every child anymore is exposed to these things whether or not
parents want them to be. The outside world isn t censored at all. People streak,
curse, and state their religious beliefs at their leisure. There is no way to guard a
child from everyday life. In time, everyone will be exposed to those same concepts
and ideas that we are trying so desperately to hide from. Censorshipis unnecessary
and shouldn t be interfering with people s daily lives.
So, what exactly is censorship? Censorship is the suppression of ideas and

Books and videos are being banned as a result of parents and officials that don t
want children exposed to the material. Not only that, but teaching subjects such as
evolution versus creationism are being banned as well because some find them
objectionable. The biggest offender in this case are schools that only discuss
creationism. Censorship is often arbitrary and irrational. For example, classics
traditionally used in English classrooms have been accused of containing obscene,
heretical, or subversive elements. Just a few of these books might include Plato s
Republic, George Eliot s Silas Marner, Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter,
Shakespeare s Macbeth, Herman Melville s Moby Dick, and so many more. The
truth is, literally any work is potentially open censoring by someone, somewhere, at
some time, for any reason. Even a modern, extremely popular book like Harry Potter
could be censored for something like witchcraft, and going against Christian beliefs.
The only thing that people are accomplishing by censoring school work is inhibiting
everyone s chance to be fully educated. If a parent doesn t want their child to see or
read something in school, then they should just homeschool their child rather than
ruin it for

The Jamestown Project discusses the monumental landmark, the colony of

authentic, elaborate style than our textbooks has presented. As Kupperman points
out, Jamestown was not only important to United State s history but also to British
history. From the motivations to the lasting effects, she gives an accurate account of
all components involved in Jamestown. Also, there is a chapter devoted to the Native

Chapter four analyzes this fascination. It starts off talking about Thomas Trevilian, an
author of an elaborate commonplace book, that showed the English public was
keenly interested in the world and in understanding how to categorize the knowledge
about all the new things, people, and cultures of which specimens and descriptions
were now available to them. (109 110) Their thirst for learning about the new was
quenched by frequent plays, narratives and other writings by colonist, and cabinets of
curiosities, early version of museums. The fifth chapter examines the effect
geography, climate and more importantly the naming of the areas in the colonial era.
The power to apply a name and make it stick implied ownership and control. (147)
Also, it discusses the climate and weather affect on Jamestown and the world s
relation. It talks about the Little Ice Age, and how the colder temperatures were
compounded by unprecedented drought throughout North America in the period of
contact and the first settlement. (171) Chapter six contrast Jamestown with other
British colonies in Ireland, the West Indies, Guiana, Roanoke, Newfoundland, and
New England. She focus on Ireland because the colonization of Ireland taught the
English how to transfer a social order and to transform the native population. (208)
The first year of Jamestown existence is the focus of chapter seven. It s name,

Struggle And Disillusionment In Shakespeare s Hamlet
As with the majority of Shakespeare s works, the 1601 tragedy of Hamlet still
remains as an acclaimed source of inspiration for complex interpretations and in depth
criticism. Its values lies not within its plot, but rather within the constituents that
gives rise to the textual integrity of the play. Hence, such thematic concerns of
Struggle and Disillusionment are dramatically explored through elements of the
dramatic form to impart an effect on the audience that allows the play to transcend
contextual barriers. Such elements include the characterisation of the eponymous
protagonist, various soliloquies, character foils, and the structure of the play. Edgar
Johnson, expresses in his text The Dilemma of Hamlet (1956) that Hamlet s... Show

Additionally, this would lead to an internal struggle unique to the audience as the
notion of antic disposition becomes blurred as the play progresses. This is further
supported by the presence of the Ghost in Act 3, of which only Hamlet notices.
Gertrude assures Hamlet, This is the very coinage of your brain/This bodiless
creation ecstasy/Is very cunning in. (Act 3 Scene 4). This gives rise to the suggestion
that the Ghost is a manifestation of his newfound madness and hence the authenticity
of Hamlet s apparent madness is a source of conflict within the audience. Johnson,
however, views Hamlet s madness as an innate quality that encompasses the
temptation to wreak justice for the wrong reasons and in evil passion... . He does not
consider the audience s knowledge of Hamlet s antic disposition which allows for the
interpretation that the dilemma is perhaps his progression to madness. Accordingly,
the peculiar dramatic treatment of struggle through the multifarious and inwardness
nature of Hamlet directly engages the audience continuously. The internal struggles
and disillusionment of characters are conveyed to the audience in an intimate
manner through the use of soliloquies. His core dilemma is revealed to the audience
in his first soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2 where he expresses his disillusionment with
the world and life upon his mother s swift remarriage to his uncle, describing it as

Twelfth Night Women

Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish and pathetic ways.
Twelfth Nightdemonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in loveeasily, due
to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall

Orsino has real feelings for Olivia, she refuses to love him back as her love is only

wonderful places to educate them the knowledge of the ecology and environment and
expand YES services widely. In the article Environmental Stewardship and
Sustainability , Tulipane (2009) introduces that we should build more facilities,
programs and associate with local schools, even systems in order to help children and
teenagers to invest in our future. Furthermore, Clean Annapolis River Project
(CARP), non governmental organization, has already worked with school to engage
youth to participate to the environment. There is a short video on YouTube that calls
Youth Leading Environmental Change which was uploaded by CARP. There are two
groups of young boys and girls which evaluate their experience in this program.
Several young girls mentioned that they do not learn much about environment in
class, and their teachers said that they need to spend more time on math and self
ability instead of on the environment; they actually learn a lot from the program, such
as group work and protect the environment. Thus, those information indicates that it
is a wonderful chance to expand the service of Rural
Racism In Friday Night Lights
Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights
(2015) and was intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here.
Odessa held onto its racial ideologies for much longer than it should have, even
with Federal lawsuits against them (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg.
227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted upon that they still were intact even
after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of Odessa had been and
continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town where the
blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white
citizens. The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the
divider for this segregation, or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of
the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99). The physical separation wasn t the only
racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were both quite underrepresented
in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body (Bissinger, 2015;
pg. 175). The black population of Odessa seemed to get the blunt end of the racial
stigma though, which is especially seen at the beginning of chapter 5 with the use
and explanation of why some Odessans used the word... Show more content on

It was also common for Texas high school football as a whole. These behaviors were
seen both off and on the field and included extreme play against the opposing team,
drinking, drug use, fighting, hubris, and institutional corruption (Bissinger, 2015
Coakley, 2015). Off field behavior included mainly drinking and getting into fights,
though the citizens of Odessa even went as far as shooting a gun inside a bar at one
point. The player s drinking had become bad enough that an anonymous letter
frowning upon that behavior found its way into their lockers while they were in the
playoffs (Bissinger, 2015; pgs.
The Religion Of The Holy Trinity
Catholic trust that since Adam and Eve defied God in the Garden of Eden, all
people are conceived with original sin, which just Baptism takes away. A more
satisfied belief is in elegance, a thoroughly free, ridiculous blessing from God.
Effortlessness is a partaking in the celestial; the motivation to do God s will.
Catholics recognize the unity of body and soul for human. So the entire religion
relies or centers on reality that mankind remains between the two universes of
matter and soul. The physical world is considered some portion of God s creation
and is, in this manner, naturally great until an individual abuses it.The Bible is the
roused, mistake free, and uncovered expression of God. Absolution, the custom of
turning into a Christian, is important for salvation whether the Baptism happens by
water, blood, or longing. God s Ten Commandments give an religious compass or a
standard to live by. The presence of the Holy Trinityone God in three persons.
Catholics grasp the conviction that God, the one Supreme Being, is comprised of
three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Christianity
The focal teachings of customary Christianity are that Jesus is the Son of God, the
second individual of the Trinity of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that
his life on earth, his torturous killing, restoration, and climb into paradise are
confirmation of God s adoration for mankind and God s pardoning of human sins;

Human Development Paper

Human Development
Human growth and development starts from the moment a child is conceived and
continues until the day we die. There are many different stages of development all
depending on the person s beliefs on how we develop. All theories explain a
specific growth and development for a specific time for an individual starting from
birth to the time of their death. Not all the theories are agreed on because they are
based on different individuals erase each and findings, and the time that the theory
was developed. In this paper we will break down three of them. The first one is the
infancy part of life and how Erik Erikson viewed the development. ... Show more

We learn to depend on other people to eat and drink, and learn to start to depend on
people.
Another stage in human growth and development is called the phallic stage. Sigmund
Freud believed this stage took place from the age of three to six years old. This is
the stage that children become more aware of the sexual regions of their bodies.
Not only do they become more self aware but also start to notice their parents and
kids around them. This helps them learn the difference in boy or girl male or
female. During this stage it is not uncommon for a child to hook them self onto the
parent of opposite sex and start a rivalry with the parent of the same sex (Garcia,
1995). Individuals who show higher levels in phallic stage of psychosexual
development fixation are more likely to develop sexually ( Sexual Compulsivity,
Promiscuity and Phallic Stage of Psychosexual Development Fixation. , 2012, para.
3).
Intimacy versus isolation is stage six in Erik Ericksons eight stages of human
development. This stage takes place from approximately 19 40 years of age
(Orlofsky, Marcia, Lesser, 1973). The big question that people face in this stage is
will I be loved or will I be alone. During this stage people start to develop more long
term relationships. Friendship, dating, marriage and family play a big role in the
happiness of this stage. This is when we leave the people that we grew up with and
start our own lives. By establishing
Dog Grooming Essay
Be prepared
All dogs need grooming, but some dogs need more grooming than others.
Baxter s owners did not realize that their dog should be combed frequently and
completely to prevent kinks and knots caused by intertwining of hairs or by dirt, grit,
or vegetative matter in the coat. Mats can pull tender skin and cause pain and lead to
hot spots or wounds to irritated skin and eventual infection, general skin outbreaks, or
fungus or insect invasion.
Shaving may be the only solution for felted mats, but it must be done carefully to
avoid nicking the dog or further irritating already inflamed skin.
Breeds that need frequent grooming to prevent mats and keep their coats healthy

Before bathing, clear any mats or tangles from Ginger s coat.
Teach her to stand in the tub, then add warm or tepid water.
Soak her to the skin, lather, then rinse thoroughly to prevent dull, sticky coat and dry
skin.
Take care to keep water and soap out of her eyes and ears and clean her face and the
insides of her ears with a sponge or washcloth.
Daily examination
Even if Ginger doesn t need daily grooming, check her thoroughly to make sure she
has no cuts, sores, fleas, rashes, bumps, ticks, or hitchhikers in her coat or dirt in
her ears. Remove fleas with a fine toothed comb and drop them into a container of
soapy water. Remove embedded ticks with tweezers or protected fingers and drop
them in a vial of alcohol. (Grasp the tick body, rock it back and forth, then pull
firmly.) Carefully remove vegetative matter such as grass awns, seed casings, or
thorny twigs with fingers or comb.
During this daily exam, check Ginger s feet and ears, look at her teeth, and feel for
cuts or tumors.
Shedding
Dog hair grows and dies just as human hair does. Some dogs В— particularly hard
coated terriers and Poodles В— hang on to their dead hair, thus requiring special
grooming to remove it. Other dogs give it up quite readily, all over the house.
Double coated dogs generally drop their soft undercoats twice a year and lose their
guard hairs once a year, although some individual dogs might shed constantly
Lizzie Borden Took An Axe
Lizzie Borden took an axe... Or did she?
Hello, this is my opinion on Lizzie, although the poem says she took an axe, what
was John doing, the maid, and sister? The maid was the only person in the house
besides Lizzie and Abbi. Did they set up the murders? John was out of town,
suspiciously, and the sister was out with a friend. The father was running errands.
Lizzie had an attorney and claimed Lizzie was sleeping during the murders. And if
these people did associate with Lizzie, why, they as much to gain as anyone? Did
Andrew choose ,favorites? Was Abbi a bad mother? We may never know.
My last thing to say about Lizzie, is why did she kill her parents? Lizzie had
nothing to gain by killed her parents, so why? If killing her parents did nothing she
must have had a different plan. Maybe Lizzie wanted mental comfort, or revenge on
something that may have happened when she was a child. The house was 300,000
dollars in total estate, which 8 million dollars in modern society. Due to this Lizzie
may have wanted to sell the house, but she remained living in the Borden family
house until she died 1927 from

pneumonia.
Lizzie Borden is said to have taken the axe, what if someone else gave her mother
forty whacks? Bridget the maid was right outside of the bedroom window during
the murders, it was a hot summer day so I suspect the windows were open. Bridget
could have reached in through the windows and killed Abbi, but, where did the axe
come from? The murder weapon could have been a meat tenderizer, I say this
because the only other weapon in the house they could ve had that would equal to the
axe would be a meat tenderizer.
Why is it that one hundred years later we still strive to solve the
Role of Women in Hemmingway s Hills like White
Elephants,...
Role of Women in Hemmingway s Hills like White Elephants, Lawrence s The
Horse Dealers Daughter and Faulkner s A Rose for Emily The role of women in
society is constantly questioned and for centuries women have struggled to find their
place in a world that is predominantly male oriented. Literature provides a window
into the lives, thoughts and actions of women during certain periods of time in a
fictitious form, yet often truthful in many ways. Ernest Hemmingway s Hills like
White Elephants , D.H. Lawrences The HorseDealers Daughterand William Faulkner
s A Rose for Emily each paint a picture of a woman who has failed to break away
from her male companion, all describing a stereotypically dominated woman.

By doing this Hemingway succeededs in creating a character who cannot be
respected but is instead pitied. In a discussion, with her American lover, Jig
comments about the hills surrounding them, comparing them to white elephants, only
for him to tell her that what she is saying is wrong. Rather than defend something
that is her own opinion she changes the subject and later apologizes for saying it in
the first place.
They look like white elephants , she said.
I ve never seen one, the man drank his beer.
No, you wouldn t have.
I might have, the man said. Just because you say I wouldn t have doesn t prove
anything.
..........................
They re lovely hills, she said. They really don t look like white elephants. I just meant
the coloring of their skin through the trees.
Jig s main objective throughout the story is ensuring that her partner is happy. This
is apparent when she tells him that she will go through with the abortion. Then I ll
do it. Because I don t care about me. And I ll do it and then everything will be fine.
Through these comments it is evident that she truly believes if she has an abortion
their relationship will be fine giving little thought to the emotional and physical
trauma the procedure will cause. Jig s subservient attitude is indicative of her low
self esteem throughout the story. She allows herself to be shaped by a man whose
care for her is more than obviously not a reciprocation of hers for

INTRODUCTION This paper will focus on the violations on the Right to Education by the State of Mourinholand under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights as well as its violations under various other universal and regional instruments, the various modes and conditions for bringing complaints of violations to the council and committee will further be discussed here. The International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Right was adopted and opened for signature by the General Assembly of the United Nations on the 16th of December, 1966 to give members of a state party a right to self determination. The covenant contains the right to Education, Health, and Cultural Life etc. The Right to Education was first discussed under article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 . This right constitutes the first ever recognition of a general right in an international instrument in explicit terms. Article 26 has subsequently been reaffirmed and made more detailed by articles 13 and 14 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, article 13 (3) (a) of the Additional Protocol to the America Convention on Human Rights in the area of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and article 17 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples rights . Asbjorn Eider propounded the theory that State Parties to the Covenant are bound to Respect, Protect and Fulfill all the rights enshrined in the ICESCR. By respecting the
  • 3. Street Dreams And Hip Hop Barber Shops Summary Brad Weiss s ethnographic research on popular culture, hanging out in barbershops and bus stands, seamstress tables and video halls, was carried out in the northern Tanzanian city of Arusha. In Street Dreams and Hip Hop Barber Shops Weiss does a great job observing the everyday life of the people in Arusha. He explores how globalization and neoliberalism affect the mindset of a community and shows the reader how gender role, media, and self fashioning can play a big role in a person life. Weiss s fieldwork and observation is very accurate and informative for the most part but looses the reader in some of the topics that he presents. He explains to the reader that the young men and women of Arusha are social actors who try to find a niche and struggle to participate in a world that is significant for them. I strongly agree with Weiss s point and believe that every young person in any society are social actors who try to fit in a world that they feel is right for them and use popular culture and globalization as a tool to get there. Brad Weiss does a great job showing the reader that barbershops around Tanzaniaare more than just a place for getting a haircut. He explains to the reader in great detail that the people of Tanzania see barbershops as a place for obtaining news, catching up on the latest trends, gossip, discovering new music, or just simply hanging out. Barbershops provide men with a chance , an opportunity or a place during times of uncertainty. Weiss spends most of his time at barbershops because it is a great place for studying popular culture and allows him to see what the clients at these barber shops find interesting. There were some things that I found problematic in Weiss s writing that can turn off some readers. Some parts of the book he tends to over analyze and bore the reader with useless facts. I found myself

Examples of these fields include; working with individuals, families, communities, group work, child protection, domestic violence, as well as those suffering from disabilities. Despite which field one chooses to work in, all practitioners must have the essential key communicationskills needed. The six key communication skills are; clarifying roles, confidentiality, listening skills, open and closed questions, paraphrasing, and attending. In the essay below, I will further describe these communication skills as well as analyse how well these skills were used in my interview. My clients was seeking assistance to move out from living with her boyfriend, who had began to be verbally abusive as well as portray controlling behaviour, leaving her in an uncomfortable and unsafe environment. Looking back at the interview, I can clearly see the communication skills that were used, and the skills, which lacked. Firstly I ll evaluate the skills which I think I portrayed. In regards to the communication skills, at the beginning of the interview I did clarify roles with the client however I felt as though this could have been done a little bit better. In regards to confidentiality, I believe that this concept was communicated well because I specifically told the client about confidentiality and that any information regarding harm would be told others. I believe this was good as it gave the client the opportunity to decide if they wished to continue, and feel comfortable that any information told would remain between me and her. I noticed that during the interview open and close ended questions were asked which allowed the client to elaborate furthur on her statements as well as make simple confirmations. For example, Going back to what you said earlier about having fights with your boyfriend, could you elaborate on that ? This allowed

  • 6. Rise of the Muslim Brotherhood The Rise of the Muslim Brotherhood The Muslim Brotherhood is the largest Islamist organization in Egypt. It was founded in the 1920s by Hassan Al Banna. The movement was a model of political activism combined with Islamic charity work. At first, it only aimed to spread Islamic morals, but soon became involved in politics. While the Muslim Brotherhood claims that it supports democratic principles, it aims to create a state ruled by Al Shariaa. Al Shariaa is the Islamic law stated in the Quran. The movement is currently seeking to avoid full authority. It is, however, focusing on the longer term. The Brotherhood is aiming for a leading role in the process of writing a new constitution. Indeed, it is not clear if the old strategies of the Muslim Brotherhood will guide their actions through the coming days (Brown). Another cause to the success of the Muslim Brotherhood is that its offices acted as social service agencies. During winter people used to drop in asking for blankets, which the party handed them out along with their brochures. They as well helped several people in paying their medical bills (Kristof). According to interviews I have conducted with different Freedom and Justice Party s supporters, I have discovered some of the reasons why they voted for them in the elections. Some people believe that Islam is the only solution for building a new, better and safer Egypt after the 25th of January revolution. They believe that if the candidates are God fearing and obeying they won t be corrupt. Another reason is that some members of the Freedom and Justice Party offered financial help for those who would vote for them. Most of the people I interviewed were from a low social standard; therefore, they were in need of this help. In fact, the Muslim Brotherhood exploited poor people to gain more votes. That is mostly how they attempted to win most of

Cognitive, affective, and conative antecedents of relative attitude are identified as contributing to loyalty, along with motivational, perceptual, and behavioural consequences ( Dick and Basu , 1994). In the customer centred business, survival remains to the degree that customer satisfaction is met. Previous research studies have shows that the repurchase intent was the main benefit of customer retention. However, some had identified multiple benefits like repurchase intent, price tolerance, willingness to recommend etc. In reaching retention, vendors should manage satisfaction and consequences of Customer Loyalty (Naranyandas, 1998). Loyalty too has a pyramid effect that suggests of having hierarchy in loyalty levels between customer and vendor. Change in loyalty level will manifest itself in the presence of specific attitude and behaviour (Aaker, 1991). Customer loyalty and satisfaction are integral part of customer retention process. Customer Retention is a primary measure of loyalty. There is a positive relationship between changes in satisfaction and share of wallet. In particular, the initial satisfaction level and the conditional percentage of change in satisfaction significantly correspond to changes in share of wallet. • 8. The Old Man And The Sea Short Story The Old Man and the Sea is the story of a fight between an elderly, accomplished fisherman, Santiago, and a really big fish. Like... HUGE. The story opens with Santiago suffering eighty four days without catching a fish because he s the unluckiest son of a bitch on planet earth. Honestly, if you were in a boat for eighty four days, it d be hard to NOT catch a fish... even by accident. Santiago was so unlucky that his apprentice, Manolin, was forbidden by his Ma and Pa to fish with him. But as The Fresh Prince used to say, Parents Just Don t Understand . So the boy visits Santiago s shack anyway. Ignoring the inherent risks of unsupervised playtime with an elderly man who talks to himself, Manolin helps out, moving Santiago s fishing gear, making food and talking about baseball. Especially Joe DiMaggio; who used to bump fuzzies with Marilyn Monroe. The next day, Santiago tells Manolin that he s going way out into the Gulf Stream. WAY OUT north of Cuba. Lady luck is returning! On the eighty fifth day of his crappy luck, Santiago drops his lines, and by noon, gets a bite from what feels like a big ass fish. He s sure it s a winner. He fights and fights and fights but can t pull the monster in. Santiago s leaky old boat is pulled by the fish for two days and nights as he holds on for dear life. Even though he s bloody and beat, Santiago begins to appreciate this mighty adversary. He starts calling him brother or maybe even, bro. It s sort of a love story if you really think

This war went to a climatic episode when it reached Horseshoe bend, Alabama on March 27. This climax was a conflict between The Red Stick faction of Upper Creek Indians and the Americans and their Cherokee, Choctaw and Lower Creek Allies. It is very interesting to analyze the barricade made by The Red Stick to defend their selves from the attack and also the strategy that General Andrew Jackson brought to offend the Red Stick in that war. While their founders exhibit significant differences in when they began their existence in the world, their teachings hugely resemble each other. Gautama Buddha was reported to have lived about 600 or 500 before Christ was born. Buddha was born in Nepal, India while Jesus was born in Bethlehem, which is currently located in Palestine. Both Jesus and Buddha espoused altruism and always insisted in service of others. They emphasized the need for giving than receiving and both believed in love as the only tool of defeating hatred. Both teachings contained the need not to judge others. A key difference between the two was how Buddha taught followers to lose one s self to receive Nirvana while Jesus encouraged his people to lose one s self in order to receive an everlasting life (Talim, Jeffrey Anant, 67). This assignment attempts to highlight the similarity between Jesus s Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha s Jataka Tales. Similarity between Jesus s Sermon on the Mount and Gautama Buddha s Jataka Tales. Jesus s Sermon on the Mount, as outlined in the book of Matthew chapter five to seven, employed ordinary worldly objects and events that people associated with daily to communicate a divine message. • 18. Merry-Go-Round by Langston Hughes Merry Go Round is a poem about a little colored child that goes to the carnival. The child wants to ride the merry go round, but has a problem finding the back. From where the child comes from, Jim Crow laws segregate the blacks from the whites. This poem has a lot of depth and meaning, although it sounds very simple. It also tells us the mindset of most blacks in the South in the days of segregation. I chose this poem because the boy s innocence was touching and its deep meaning was very powerful. In the beginning, the child asks, Where is the Jim Crow section on this merry go round, mister, cause I want to ride? in lines 1 3. Jim Crow laws are laws that segregate the blacks from the whites, so you can infer that the Jim Crow section is solely for the blacks. If you go to a carnival right now, colored children won t be asking for the direction to the Jim Crow section. This points out that in the old days, blacks had to sit in different sections than the whites. The child then continues to say, Down South where I come from white and colored can t sit side by side. In lines 4 6. As I said above, blacks had to sit in separate sections away from the whites down in the South. In addition, this tells you how sever racism was in the South because even a child knows that blacks and whites were supposed to be segregated. The child continues on and says, Down South on the train there s a Jim Crow car. On the bus we re put in the back, but there ain t no back to a

The beautiful shades and rays of the womans complexion make her a nameless grace (2, 2). This stanza reveals her serene thoughts: Where thoughts serenely sweet express, How pure, how dear their dwelling place. The dwelling place is her pure mind. This maiden can be called an innocent love because Lord Byron s use of words propose that she may have never been in love, so she does not know about it. It is regarded as a counterintuitive social theory as it implied that actions influenced attitudes as opposed to the alternative notion, once seen as the more reasonable, (Miller J. L., 2012). His theory of cognitive dissonance is still referenced today in numerous credible and published work either in support of the theory or to suggest revisions, (Dember Jenkins, 1970) cited from Cognitive Dissonance Theory (n.d.), revealing a lasting impact. Social psychologist Herbert C. Kelman (1953) first investigated cognitive dissonance through the consequences of forced compliance and hypothesised the opposite of his data findings, which revealed that counter attitudinal advocacy occurred more often in low reward circumstances in comparison to higher reward. • 33. A Literature Of Place Barry Lopez Summary Summary In A Literature of Place , author Barry Lopez begins his work by stating that a kind of writing called nature writing or landscape writing has begun to receive more attention, creating the belief that it was a relatively new type of writing (at the time). It was actually quite the opposite. According to Lopez, writing about the impact that nature and location has on culture is one of the oldest, and perhaps most singular, threads in American writing. The real topic of nature writing, Lopez says, is not nature but the evolving structure of communities from which nature has been removed, often as a consequence of modern economic development. He then writes that it s important to become intimate with a place, meaning that instead of simply observing your surroundings and watching the world go by, you should find a special place in your heart for a certain area that s special to you in some way. He s essentially saying that your should take this place into your very being on a spiritual level. Finally, Lopez states that he and many others wonder why people have become so anxious over undeveloped land. The answer is simple. These places hold a special place in their hearts, and they don t want to see them go. It may be more important now to enter into an ethical and reciprocal relationship with everything around us than to continue to work toward the sort of control of the physical world that, until recently, we aspired to, (A Literature of Place) says Lopez. Even a modern, extremely popular book like Harry Potter could be censored for something like witchcraft, and going against Christian beliefs. The only thing that people are accomplishing by censoring school work is inhibiting everyone s chance to be fully educated. If a parent doesn t want their child to see or read something in school, then they should just homeschool their child rather than ruin it for
  • 35. Essay about Jamestown Project The Jamestown Project discusses the monumental landmark, the colony of Jamestown, was in Atlantic History. The story of Jamestown is told in a much more authentic, elaborate style than our textbooks has presented. As Kupperman points out, Jamestown was not only important to United State s history but also to British history. From the motivations to the lasting effects, she gives an accurate account of all components involved in Jamestown. Also, there is a chapter devoted to the Native American experience, which shows a non Western view of events. The book is written in a format that is easily read but also compacted with information. More importantly she puts Jamestown in its right place in United State s and British history, as the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter four analyzes this fascination. It starts off talking about Thomas Trevilian, an author of an elaborate commonplace book, that showed the English public was keenly interested in the world and in understanding how to categorize the knowledge about all the new things, people, and cultures of which specimens and descriptions were now available to them. (109 110) Their thirst for learning about the new was quenched by frequent plays, narratives and other writings by colonist, and cabinets of curiosities, early version of museums. The fifth chapter examines the effect geography, climate and more importantly the naming of the areas in the colonial era. The power to apply a name and make it stick implied ownership and control. (147) Also, it discusses the climate and weather affect on Jamestown and the world s relation. It talks about the Little Ice Age, and how the colder temperatures were compounded by unprecedented drought throughout North America in the period of contact and the first settlement. (171) Chapter six contrast Jamestown with other British colonies in Ireland, the West Indies, Guiana, Roanoke, Newfoundland, and New England. She focus on Ireland because the colonization of Ireland taught the English how to transfer a social order and to transform the native population. (208) The first year of Jamestown existence is the focus of chapter seven. It s name, Uncertain Beginnings

Struggle And Disillusionment In Shakespeare s Hamlet As with the majority of Shakespeare s works, the 1601 tragedy of Hamlet still remains as an acclaimed source of inspiration for complex interpretations and in depth criticism. Its values lies not within its plot, but rather within the constituents that gives rise to the textual integrity of the play. Hence, such thematic concerns of Struggle and Disillusionment are dramatically explored through elements of the dramatic form to impart an effect on the audience that allows the play to transcend contextual barriers. Such elements include the characterisation of the eponymous protagonist, various soliloquies, character foils, and the structure of the play. Edgar Johnson, expresses in his text The Dilemma of Hamlet (1956) that Hamlet s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, this would lead to an internal struggle unique to the audience as the notion of antic disposition becomes blurred as the play progresses. This is further supported by the presence of the Ghost in Act 3, of which only Hamlet notices. Gertrude assures Hamlet, This is the very coinage of your brain/This bodiless creation ecstasy/Is very cunning in. (Act 3 Scene 4). This gives rise to the suggestion that the Ghost is a manifestation of his newfound madness and hence the authenticity of Hamlet s apparent madness is a source of conflict within the audience. Johnson, however, views Hamlet s madness as an innate quality that encompasses the temptation to wreak justice for the wrong reasons and in evil passion... . He does not consider the audience s knowledge of Hamlet s antic disposition which allows for the interpretation that the dilemma is perhaps his progression to madness. Accordingly, the peculiar dramatic treatment of struggle through the multifarious and inwardness nature of Hamlet directly engages the audience continuously. The internal struggles and disillusionment of characters are conveyed to the audience in an intimate manner through the use of soliloquies. His core dilemma is revealed to the audience in his first soliloquy in Act 1, Scene 2 where he expresses his disillusionment with the world and life upon his mother s swift remarriage to his uncle, describing it as ...weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable/Seem

In Twelfth Night, the characters who prove this are Olivia and Sir Andrew. Olivia has fallen in love with the fake man Cesario , and Sir Andrew is deliberately trying to woo Olivia through foolish and pathetic ways. Twelfth Nightdemonstrates that women are weak and are able to fall in loveeasily, due to their gullibility when it comes to love. This was shown as Olivia was able to fall in love with fake man Cesario , who was truly Viola in disguise. Although the Duke Orsino has real feelings for Olivia, she refuses to love him back as her love is only for Cesario . Shakespeare conveys this message through Viola s soliloquy, and is

Youth Environmental Stewardship Paper Introduction Youth Environmental Stewardship (YES), one of the major programs in Rural Action, provides an exceptionable opportunity for all kids to learn about the forest and the ecology system in Ohio. In addition, those activities will not only help children to learn some survival skills and how to communicate with others, but also offer an effective occasion to promote the relationship between youth and their parents. However, our team found the flaws and the areas can be improved. The strength, weakness, opportunity and threat will be illustrated in the next four sections. The schools that majority of youth have spent more than ten years to study in, are wonderful places to educate them the knowledge of the ecology and environment and expand YES services widely. In the article Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability , Tulipane (2009) introduces that we should build more facilities, programs and associate with local schools, even systems in order to help children and teenagers to invest in our future. Furthermore, Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP), non governmental organization, has already worked with school to engage youth to participate to the environment. There is a short video on YouTube that calls Youth Leading Environmental Change which was uploaded by CARP. There are two groups of young boys and girls which evaluate their experience in this program. Several young girls mentioned that they do not learn much about environment in class, and their teachers said that they need to spend more time on math and self ability instead of on the environment; they actually learn a lot from the program, such as group work and protect the environment. Thus, those information indicates that it is a wonderful chance to expand the service of Rural
  • 40. Racism In Friday Night Lights Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights (2015) and was intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here. Odessa held onto its racial ideologies for much longer than it should have, even with Federal lawsuits against them (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg. 227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted upon that they still were intact even after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of Odessa had been and continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town where the blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white citizens. The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the divider for this segregation, or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99). The physical separation wasn t the only racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were both quite underrepresented in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 175). The black population of Odessa seemed to get the blunt end of the racial stigma though, which is especially seen at the beginning of chapter 5 with the use and explanation of why some Odessans used the word... Off field behavior included mainly drinking and getting into fights, though the citizens of Odessa even went as far as shooting a gun inside a bar at one point. The player s drinking had become bad enough that an anonymous letter frowning upon that behavior found its way into their lockers while they were in the playoffs (Bissinger, 2015; pgs.

A more satisfied belief is in elegance, a thoroughly free, ridiculous blessing from God. Effortlessness is a partaking in the celestial; the motivation to do God s will. Catholics recognize the unity of body and soul for human. So the entire religion relies or centers on reality that mankind remains between the two universes of matter and soul. The physical world is considered some portion of God s creation and is, in this manner, naturally great until an individual abuses it.The Bible is the roused, mistake free, and uncovered expression of God. Human Development Paper Human Development James West PSY/280 September 26 2012 Robert Keele Human Development Human growth and development starts from the moment a child is conceived and continues until the day we die. All theories explain a specific growth and development for a specific time for an individual starting from birth to the time of their death. Not all the theories are agreed on because they are based on different individuals erase each and findings, and the time that the theory was developed. In this paper we will break down three of them. We learn to depend on other people to eat and drink, and learn to start to depend on people. Another stage in human growth and development is called the phallic stage. Sigmund Freud believed this stage took place from the age of three to six years old. This is the stage that children become more aware of the sexual regions of their bodies. Not only do they become more self aware but also start to notice their parents and kids around them. This helps them learn the difference in boy or girl male or female. During this stage it is not uncommon for a child to hook them self onto the parent of opposite sex and start a rivalry with the parent of the same sex (Garcia, 1995). Individuals who show higher levels in phallic stage of psychosexual development fixation are more likely to develop sexually ( Sexual Compulsivity, Promiscuity and Phallic Stage of Psychosexual Development Fixation. , 2012, para. 3). Intimacy versus isolation is stage six in Erik Ericksons eight stages of human development. This stage takes place from approximately 19 40 years of age (Orlofsky, Marcia, Lesser, 1973). The big question that people face in this stage is will I be loved or will I be alone. During this stage people start to develop more long term relationships. Friendship, dating, marriage and family play a big role in the happiness of this stage. This is when we leave the people that we grew up with and start our own lives. By establishing
