Theme Of Repetition In Lord Of The Flies
Imagine being trapped on an island with a group of power hungry boys controlled by savagery
and fear. Lord of the Flies is a story about a group of boys who crashed on an island while flying
to safety away from the war. The main leaders of the boys are Ralph and Jack. Jack leads a group
called the savages who hunt to prove themselves powerful, whereas Ralph s group is focused on
being rescued. They live in fear of a beast who Jack and his group insist on hunting and killing.
In chapter nine, a boy named Simon goes to where the beast supposedly is and finds that is is
just a pilot with a parachute who landed on the island after his plane exploded. He goes to tell
the others, but they are so encaged in their fear of the beast and the storm that they believe he is
the beast and rip him apart. Simon dies and most boys don t fully realize the extent of what they
have done until later because of that same fear. Fear can overtake your mind and body causing you
to do terrible things that can hurt you and others. In chapter 9 of Lord of the Flies, William Golding
employs repetition, symbolism, and foreshadowing to convey the theme that... Show more content

When Golding really wants things to be noticed, he repeats them and makes them stand out.
One of the main things They repeat is Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! Do him in!
(Golding 175). The boys chanting this over and over as they rip simon apart show how the fear
and savagery can take over. Jack wants to be big and bad and in charge. He took a small, normal
fear, and turned it to something terrible. He wants to hunt and to kill to prove his worth, and
they say this to egg each other on. To remind them that this is okay because it is the beast and the
beast is bad, but the savagery they created is so much worse than any beast could ever be. This
shows how hard it really is to go back and fix civilization, especially when someone was murdered
because of the

we practiced during the practical snorkelling excursions.

Each source was helpful and the instructors, teachers, peers and my buddy were all happy to share

Essay About Escrima
Escrima
The history of the Philippines stretches all the way back as far as 900 AD. Examining the history
of the Philippines, it s clear that martial arts have always been an essential part of the Filipino
culture. Many different cultures and migrants influenced the martial arts of the Philippines.
Escrima has had a long and savage history, dating back to 1521 when Spanish rule first came to the
Philippine Islands. Before colonization by Spain, Escrima was taught as a recreational activity,
along with reading, writing, religion and Sanskrit. The Spaniards had a hard time imposing their
rule on the inhabitants worshipped wielded their bolos, daggers and sticks. Until they brought in
firearms so that they could reinforce orders. In the 1700 s, when the ... Show more content on

Survival was not for the strongest, but the smartest. Men used whatever they could to defend and
protect themselves against wild animals and enemies. This could be as simple as throwing an
object, such as using a tree branch, or poking with a sharp object. Geographic is another
contributor to Filipino martial art. There are over 7,000 total islands, and these are divided into the
three major island groups consisting of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. There are over a hundred
different dialects throughout the country. However, the national language spoken is Tagalog (Berry
Specht, para. 11). This means there is a lack of organization to centralize the theme in the Filipino
Martial Arts, which revolves around fighting concepts.
Looking at the different styles and systems of Escrima, the techniques used are somewhat different,
but the overall concepts of combat and winning remain the same. The Filipino martial arts are not
compassionate; it is a vicious and dangerous form of self defense. There are hundreds of unique
styles of the Filipino martial arts throughout the

Causes And Effects Of The Green Revolution
When people discuss the Green Revolution they are talking about the quick adoption of new
technologies and the introduction of new scientifically bred crop varieties. The Green
Revolution took place due to inadequate amounts of food, depleted land, and economic poverty.
Many changes occurred as a result, some being positive and some being negative. A positive
effect of the Green Revolution was an increased amount of food being available for the
population. However, the reduced availability of nutritious crops, water shortages, and increased
tensions and conflicts deterred some gains of the movement. Because of this, the Green
Revolution was more harmful than helpful. There were many major issues around the world that
brought around the start of the Green Revolution. One major cause was the inadequate amount
of food in relation to the population. In Doc. 1, a graph is provided that compares the wheat
yielded in Mexico and India from 1950 2010. From 1950 1970, the graph shows that Mexico s
crops yielded low amounts of wheat. For India, the graph shows that the crops yielded low
amounts of wheat from 1965 1985 which was after the Green Revolution began. The purpose of
this graph was to provide the statistics on wheat yielded and how it changed over the decades. The
intended audience of this graph was the scientists who wanted to see the progression before and
after the revolution. This graph is significant to the topic because it shows that the low amount of

Sexual Identity, Discrimination, And Privilege
The course of Multicultural psychology reflected in my own identity in relation to sexual identity,
discrimination, and privilege. Before coming into this course my understanding of these concepts
was mediocre, but after learning about the impacts of each I now see a different perspective. My
understanding of these concepts evolved and changed over time by learning new information about
each separately and applying each to my own life. Now my knowledge is beyond mediocre.
My identity relating to sexual identity was pretty set before coming into this course. I knew
even from a kid I was straight, because I was constantly looking at guys as well as talking about
how cute they were. Nonetheless, I followed the pretty stereotypical roles of a girl growing up. I
played with dolls and loved pink and anything with glitter really. When I was younger, my

Our class also discussed the type of discrimination that African Americans face when it comes to
their beauty. Attributes that African Americans already posses is popular by social media, but
they are not recognized for their beauty. Only white people seem to get all of the attention. By

Achieving Millennium Development Goal 2
With the goal of achieving Millennium Development Goal 2(MDG TL, 2014), Timor Leste is
currently working to enhance the quality of education, particularly in the Ensino Basico (Basic
Education) (NESP Tl, 2011). Responding to these challenges, the Ministry of Education provides
professional training referred to as curso intensivo in order to facilitate pedagogical change in
teachers (Shah, 2013). This professional training embraces the concept of the community of practice
because teachers are principally engaged in joint activities to support each other, and to share
information on the subject of knowledge in order to enhance the quality of teaching. Educational
Policy in Timor Leste, The National Educational Strategic Plan 2011 2030, emphasizes that a
holistic approach such as communities of practice, is the best way to facilitate pedagogical renewal
in Timor Leste educational system (NESP TL, 2011). Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2006)
acknowledge the benefit of communities of practice by explaining that each group member s
concerns and issues on the practical subject can be mutually addressed through regular interaction.
Accordingly, this chapter will be divided into several sections; firstly, definition of terms. This
section will discuss about originality, definition, characteristics, principles of practice and
understanding the communities of practice. Secondly, a brief introduction of the communities of
practice in the pre independence phase. This section, the

This is important to all parties of the home buying process. Mostly though this applies to the buyer
and seller. Only because this is a time period awaiting transfer of the deed and other land contracts
throughout the home buying process. This represents that last leap into buying your very own
home (Farkas UNK).
Closing a real estate sale is closely related and connected to closing the escrow: it s when the deal
is completed and both parties get what they worked for; money for the seller and a home for the
buyer.
Even though you may not move in right away, The sales contract should state when the seller is to
move out and the buyer is to take possession of the property. In most cases, the buyer takes
possession at closing, but both buyer and seller can also work out other options, such as the
seller remaining in the home for a period of time, until he or she can close on another home
purchase or complete the construction of a new home this. The term Escrow closing is important
because it is the last and final step to owning the home. It s a very detailed and entailed process
that takes more time just because everything needs to be pristine and that their are no speed bumps
in the process (FARKAS UNK). This term applies to all parties connected because it will justify
when the seller gets their payment and when the buyer gets the deed to the house.

The Minor Prophet Hosea As A Young Man Lived Near Soil

The Minor Prophet Hosea
The Prophet Hosea is believed to the successor of the Prophet Amos. Hosea was the only writing
prophet of Israel to Israel. The name Hosea (Heb., Hoshea) means salvation. It is interesting to
observe that the names Joshua (Num 13:16) and Jesus (Matt 1:21) are derived from the same
Hebrew root as Hosea. (Jensen, 6739) His father name Beeri, a middle class merchant, a farmer or
cattleman. It is uncertain about the born place of Hosea; it could have been in a town of Ephraim
or Manasseh. Due to his style of writing, the Prophet Hosea as a young man lived near soil.
Hosea most likely did not attend a school of prophets, or have any formal training in a school of
the prophets, but you could not tell that he did not go to the school of prophets. Hosea writing
was abrupt, short, and sharp. His writings show him to be a very knowledgeable man. Scroggie
says, His message is one of the most profound and spiritual in the Old Testament. (Scroggie). The
heartbeat of God is the tone of the author, throughout the book. He declared the words of thus saith
the LORD several times. (Jensen, 6780) It is not known originally, when God called him to be a
prophet.
Hosea may have been one with tender hearted prophets toward Israel. He had many titles as a
prophet, the prophet of the broken heart; the weeping prophet; and the prophet of Israel s zero hour,
because the nation had sunk to

All the interiors done on stage were taken from the locations and researched in the neighborhoods
with the help of the residents which also gave the film the authenticity of being in the hood . She
became sort of an urban anthropologist, because everything the viewer sees is as it really is. The
colors and textures used, change throughout the scene, but everything they used was taken directly
from the neighborhood that you find yourself in throughout the clip.
Cinematographers and art directors play a very important and creative role in film production.
They work closely with the director and give a film its unique visual look and identity. The art
director was David Lazan and cinematographer Mauro Fiore. The entiriety of the movie is
comprised in a single day which can be challenging for cinematographers and art directors. The
film seemed to be filled with brief stints of consolidated action and emotion. This gave the plot of
the film the feel as though it was unfolding in only a single day.
Light can make a scene look more realistic by creating shadows and highlights. In this scene

Negligence In Radiology
Everyone who works in the medical field can have mistakes happen to them, it makes us human.
The thing that makes it negligence is when that mistakes happens over and over, or you try to
cover up your mistake instead of making it known. Negligence means you fail to take proper care
in a situation. In radiation many things can go wrong, for example the patient you are going to see
needs an x ray of the right hand and you x ray the left hand, but you don t alert anyone of the
mistake you made that is considered negligence. May people fail to realize the implications that

One of the most common mistakes is to missed diagnosed. Failure to diagnose has been
determined to be the number one reason that radiologists get sued; 75% of radiology lawsuits
allege failure to diagnose or failure to communicate in a timely manner. (Jones, S. (2011, May
11). With this being said, this is why the radiology program is two years and also you have to
pass your boards in order to practice radiology in a hospital. Not much of radiology is taught at
undergraduate level in our medical colleges. As a result of this, a sizeable number of medical
practitioners are not acquainted with the nuances of imaging modalities. (Sohoni, C. A. (2013,
March 23). When you give an incorrect diagnosis or failure to diagnose and they decide to sue
you this can lead to medical malpractice which means in other words negligence. When there is
a case of negligence they have to prove the following steps, duty of care owned by the RT,
breach of duty occurred by the RT, cause of injury due to negligence of RT and the injury
actually occurring. Also the standard of care is often questions if you provide the same attention
and care to all of your patients. This is a multistep system that reveals the truth of most scenarios.

The Importance Of Heterosexuality
Introduction: Prom, Coercion, Repression, and the Heterosexual Imaginary
There is an omnipotent and elusory force that festers and conspires just beneath the placid
surface of our society protected and intact. It is a force that lingers seemingly undetected in
every relation, in every interaction and in every corner of society that it can fill. This force is
manipulative, coercive, powerful and it structures nearly every aspect of social life. What is this
force, you may ask? Well, it is popularly referred to as Heterosexuality. Indeed, heterosexuality, as
an institution, produces and wields tremendous power over the lives and decisions of social actors.
It cuts through every social facet, safeguards and constructs hierarchies and orders along lines of
gender, sexuality, race, and class. Incontrovertibly, heterosexuality is a fundamental organizing
principle of our society maintained through cultural productions, discursive practices, and
heterosexual norms. Moreover, the dominance of heterosexuality is nourished and privileged
through the heterosexual imaginary a way of thinking that conceals the operation of heterosexuality
in structuring gender (across race, class and sexuality) and closes off any critical analysis of
heterosexuality as an organizing institution (Ingraham, 2002, p. 76). Relying on illusory and
romanticized abstractions of heterosexuality, the heterosexual imaginary obfuscates the
institutionalized nature of this privileged status. This obfuscation

Magical Houses Made Of Bamboo Analysis
In the Ted Talk Magical Houses Made of Bamboo, the speaker (Elora Hardy) and her team work
hard to build these breathtaking homes out of bamboo. First, Hardy and her team harvest bamboo
for their homes. Not only does bamboo have the compressive strength of concrete, but it is also
extremely light compared to its size. The bamboo is transported to where the home is going to be
built. Secondly, since bamboo cannot last a lifetime on its own, the team adds borax which can
increase the bamboo s lifetime. Borax turns bamboo into a viable buildingmaterial. Then, Hardy
and her team make a 3D blueprint of the house that they are constructing. The team considers
everything when it comes down to details. After that, an experienced team of architects and
designers bend and change the shape of the bamboo to fit their needs for the actual house. The team
must use plenty of creativity to make their design truly astonishing. For example, in the video, To
reap the selective benefits and work within the constraints of this material, we have to really push
ourselves, and within the constraint, we have found space... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

strong material according to this quote. It is one sustainable material that people will not run out
of. Not only is bamboo strong and elegant, but it is also earthquake resistant. On the other hand,
unprotected bamboo will most likely be eaten to dust by insects. However, Hardy and her team
changed this. They change the bamboo by using a natural salt called borax. Borax turns bamboo
into a viable building material. If one treats the bamboo properly, it can last a full lifetime. Bamboo

Musical Theatre As A Theatrical Performance
Musical Theatre is a theatrical performance when the story is told through dialogue, song, and
dance. Back then, people didn t Snap Chat, Face Time or watch TV for entertainment; they would
go to the Theatre for a night out, first date, etc. To give a more definitive description of how
musicals evolved, affected, and influenced throughout history, a time line of major musicals that
defined certain stages of Musical Theatrewill probably help people understand what makes it so
unique.
Now a quick history lesson, Musical Theatre technically was created in 5th Century BCE Ancient
Greece, when staged comedies and tragedies would be told with a bit music and dance...but
Musicals didn t fully emerge into the world until the early 20th Century when the art form went to
London, England, and then to America, which formed the famous theatre district, Broadway. Now
that the basics are covered of where Musical Theatre came from, this paper is more about how
Broadway Musicals evolved into what they are in present day, how people have reacted to such
performances, and how musical theatre has impacted not only America, but also the world.
The first era of Musical Theatre actually started in the 1920 s 1930 s during the Great Depression.
This was a the first time there were musicals other than the fun, young, and enjoyable shows, the
first example of this would be the musical Show Boat, which premiered in December 1927, the
music was by Jerome Kern, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II,

Astrology Is Not Real Science
Astrology has been around for centuries, and people have used the stars, moon, and sun countless
measurements and predictions. It wasn t until modern science was introduced that astrology was
replaced. Still, there are people who believe in this pseudoscience and read their horoscopes
diligently. Fortunately, scientists have evidence to prove astrologyis not a true science. Scientists
have different ideas of why astrology is not considered real science. One point made by Kelly,
Janzen, Saklofske (2017) talks about the consistency of findings. Their article states:

Despite the fact that we worked with some of the best astrologers in the country, recommended by

the fact that every reasonable suggestion made by the advising astrologers was worked into the

A Brief Look at The Beatles and Their Music
The Beatles would ultimately pursue a goal quite similar to that of Marx to change the way people
think about the world In order to create a better, more just world a theme particularly relevant in
their later work. Discuss.
Baur, S (2006) The Beatles and Philosophy Chicago: Open Court p87
Beatles music makes you feel good, even 30 years after first hearing it, I and many other fans get
intense pleasure from listening to the songs. By the age of 4 I was a keen listener, and by the age
of 7 I owned all their albums. My view of the world we live in was shaped to a greater or lesser
extent by the messages and music on those albums.
Before researching this topic, I have already in my mind my own understanding as to the Beatles
goals and their developing intentions throughout the decade, their involvement with political
activity, and what, in particular, Ono and Lennon sought to achieve in their ten month peace
campaign during 1969.
The goals and philosophy of Marx, of a classless society and socialist order, reflected the civil,
feminist, sexual freedom and anti war movements of the 1960 s fairly closely. The sixties were
also a time when many people were freer to experiment with the social and political philosophy
of Karl Marx . Harris, J.F (1993). Philosophy at 33 1/3 Rpm: Themes of Classic Rock Music.

Industrial Revolution and Social Changes
Introduction:
Between 1760 and 1860, technological progress, education, and an increasing capital stock
transformed England into the workshop of the world. The industrial revolution, as the
transformation came to be called, caused a sustained rise in real income per person in England and,
as its effects spread, the rest of the Western world. Historians agree that the industrial revolution
was one of the most important events in history, marking the rapid transition to the modern age, but
they disagree about various aspects of the event. Of all the disagreements, the oldest one is over
how the industrial revolution affected ordinary people, usually called the working classes. One
group, the pessimists, argues that the living standards of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Britain emerged from the Napoleonic Wars as the only European nation not ravaged by financial
plunder and economic collapse, and possessing the only merchant fleet of any useful size
(European merchant fleets having been destroyed during the war by the Royal navy Britain s
extensive exporting cottage industries also ensured markets were already available for many early
forms of manufactured goods. The conflict resulted in most British warfare being conducted
overseas, reducing the devastating effects of territorial conquest that affected much of Europe. This
was further aided by Britain s geographical position an island separated from the rest of mainland
Europe.
Another theory is that Britain was able to succeed in the Industrial Revolution due to the
availability of key resources it possessed. It had a dense population for its small geographical
size. Enclosure of common land and the related agricultural revolution made a supply of this
labour readily available. There was also a local coincidence of natural resources in the North of
England, the English Midlands, South Wales and the Scottish Lowlands. Local supplies of coal,

The Meaning Of Life By Julian Baggini
When people invest an abundant amount of time in a task, whether it be trivial and mundane like
finishing the laundry, or important and time consuming like attaining a degree, they tend to want to
be validated that they are spending their time in a meaningful way. Philosophers are often sought
out for their wisdom and to answer the deep and mind bending questions common people don t
intensely ponder. Though what the meaning of lifeis seems to be unique to each individual, when a
philosopher asserts they have revelated the meaning of life, it is imperative to investigate their
claims. In an article entitled Revealed the meaning of life, philosopher Julian Baggini claims he
knows the answer to one of life s most burning question, what is... Show more content on

To illustrate his line of thinking relating to these concepts, he compares the pondering of life to a
Celine Dion concert. He explains Compare that to a more mundane question, such as why on
earth you are sitting in the front row waiting for a Celine Dion concert to begin. One answer is
because you bought a ticket, took a train and then your seat. That explains why you re there in a
backward looking way. Another answer is that you re there because you want to hear Dion sing,
which explains your presence in a forward looking (though somewhat baffling) way. The moral of
this extended yet amusing metaphor is that the answer one is searching for dictates the approach
they implement to find said answer. Both methods, contemplating the future and the past, are still
majorly flawed, as neither looking forwards nor backwards truly give the answer to the meaning
of a person s life or why they are on earth.
While looking at one s ancestry and roots reveals where a person is originated from and the route
that lead them to where they are today, it does not necessarily reveal the reasoning as to why
they are in their current reality. Baggini explains this by stating, It is perhaps surprising how
often it is assumed that a look back to our origins will lead us to the meaning of life . . . if we take
a long, cold look back to our origins, we just find ape like ancestors and an evolutionary trail that
leads back to the big bang. Whether an individual believes

Explain The Duty Of Care Within The Law Of Negligence
The law of negligence covers a broad spectrum, with negligence being defined to apply in any
situation where a defendant has breached a duty of care owed to a claimant . This essay will
seek to look into the different areas within the law of negligence, to assess Lord Toulson s
assertion in Micheal v Chief Constable of South Wales (2015) . There will be a primary focus on
his notion of incremental growth , argument by analogy , and the necessity of policy
considerations , with particular regard taken towards the mixture of policy considerations, in an
effort to determine whether some areas, such as social costs, are weighed more heavily than others.

Furthermore, the Ann s test similarly reflects this notion of limiting potential claims by
specifying a sufficient relationship of proximity based upon foreseeability between claimants
and taking considerations on policies which could negate a duty of care. This explicit
acknowledgement of policy considerations illustrates how the courts are keen to prevent the
floodgates opening, as a large volume of new claims could swamp the court s resources.
However, in particular to the Anns test, the incremental growth of law and the implementation of
the Caparo test didn t emerge from a lack of policy consideration, but rather from no recognition
of previous policy, as it was not necessary to bring the facts of that situation within those of
previous situation where a duty of care had been held to exist within the Anns test. This draws
parallels with Lord Toulson s idea of an argument by analogy for extending liability . The fact that
there was no homage paid to previous case law in determining a duty of care may contribute to the
necessity of implementing the 3 stage Caparo test , as it is necessary for courts to be consistent in
their rulings so that people know where they stand under the law. This notion is supported by the

Supervisory Platform and Evaluation System
In any school, student learning is the ultimate goal and the focus of an effective learning
community. In today s society, the education system is called upon to teach all students at high
levels. It has been established through significant research that teachers have a high impact on
student learning, according to the RAND Corporation, research suggests that, among schoolrelated
factors, teachers matter most. When it comes to student performance on reading and math tests, a
teacher is estimated to have two to three times the impact of any other school factor, including
services, facilities, and even leadership. In order to ensure that students have the greatest chance
for achievement, it is vital that school communities know that they have high quality teachers in
place. To accomplish this task, systems have developed that integrate set measures aligning what
teachers do and what happens as a result. These may include evidence of student work and
learning, as well as, evidence of teacher practices derived from observations, reflection, recordings,
artifacts, and various forms of feedback. Educational experts such as Marzano, Danielson, Stronge
and others have published examples of evaluation models. While they vary in emphasis and design,
they are similar in that they attempt to provide a framework for measuring the impact of a teacher
on a student s learning. Clearly, this is a daunting and challenging task and there is a risk involved
in attempting to make something

Immediately after entering the stomach, water and the unusable plasma of the ingested blood are
absorbed by the lining of the stomach (Breidenstein, 1982). The majority of the dry matter in
blood is mainly proteins, so the digestive system of the Arctic vampire lizard goes to work on
breaking these proteins down (Breidenstein, 1982). Beginning in the stomach, the enzyme pepcin
begins breaking some of the peptide bonds of the proteins (Silk et al. 1985). The contents of the
stomach are then quickly transported to the small intestine, where pancreatic enzymes continue to
hydrolyze the polypeptides, breaking them into individual amino acids (Silk et al. 1985). In the
small intestine, the amino acids are diffused through the intestinal lining into the tangent blood
vessels to be delivered through the body through the circulatory system (Silk et al. 1985). The liver
can then convert amino acids like alanine to glucose through a process called gluconeogenesis
(Yoon et al. 2001). The glucose is then made into ATP through aerobic respiration, producing water

Factors Affecting Share Price
Factors Affecting Share Prices
What are the major factors that affect share prices in the stock market? This is one of the most
frequently asked questions by stock market participants. There are varied internal and external
factors affecting the price of a share. Internal factors are those that depend on the firm such as share
bonuses, stock split, company dividends, etc. External factors are those which are beyond the
control of the firm, such as raw material prices, economic trends, inflation, investor confidence, etc.

There are many factors affecting share prices. It is very hard to say just one or two factors affect
the share prices. So, let us have a look at the factors that affect share prices.
Demand and Supply
This is the first factor that affects share prices. When you get to see that more people are buying
stocks, then there is an increase in the price of that particular stock. On the other hand price of
stock falls when more people are selling their stocks. So it is very difficult to predict the Indian
stock market. This is the main reason why you need to get in touch with a good stock market
consultant. There is consultancy for you which can help you a lot on choosing the right stocks for
you.
Market cap
It is a very big mistake when you try to guess a company s worth from the price of a stock. You
should know that the more important is the market capitalization of the particular company. This
helps to determine the worth of a company. So market cap serves as an important use to determine
share prices.
Earning per share
Now when it comes to the term, earning per share , it means the profit that a particular company
has made per share and that too on the last quarter. If you need to know the health of the company
then this is the most important factor. What s more earning per share also influences the buying
tendency in the market that results in the increase of the particular stock price. This is the reason

Conspiracy theories are designed to make sense even though they are entirely false. They also get
out of control when they get a huge following of people that haven t put time into research to tell

The first theory is the Moon Landing conspiracy theory. This theory goes back to the Apollo 11
moon landing. Theorists believe that the moon landing was all faked in an attempt to beat Russia
in the Space Race . Some proof they claim to have is when the astronauts are putting up the
American flag it waves, there is no wind on the moon . The flag is held up by a horizontal bar and
simply moves when it is unfurled and as the pole is being fixed into position by the astronauts the
pole continues to vibrate after the astronauts let go. This gives the impression of blowing wind on

Short Story The Chair On Top Of The World
In the two short stories The chair on top of the world by Stuart Baum and All summer in a day
by Ray Bradbury, I will be comparing Tomas, the main character from The chair on top of the
world and Margot, the main character from All summer in a day . I will be comparing what
Tomas s personality to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main
character attempts to find the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn
and 2 dragons that assist him on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas
figures out that since the world is a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of
the world. All summer in a day , in this short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earthto
Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of this planet s heavy rain and wants to sunto rise. A few
days later, she hears that scientists predict the sun will be finally coming out again. Margot
becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that before the teacher gets to class, William the
bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour,
the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet and let Margot out. That was
those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than Margot s because Tomas is
braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets along better with
other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that he
persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is?
asked Tomas. The dragon shook its head. Nope, sorry. (6 Baum)The quote helps back up my
statement because This was one of the challenges Tomas faced when he wanted to find the chair
on top of the world. So Tomas went up to first the first mountain and the dragon told him that the
mountain wasn t on the top of the world. So this means that Tomas didn t give up on sitting on the
top of the world. At the end, Tomas finally accomplished his goal(sort of). I think the sun is a
flower, that blooms for just one hour. This was Margot s poem. This quote helps me explain why

Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American bell of great historic
significance. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols associated with the
American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is one of the most familiar symbols
of independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood and freedom within the United States, and has
been used as an international icon of liberty. [1]
Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the reading of the
Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been rung to announce the opening of the First
Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of Lexington and Concord in 1775.

During the 19th century, the bell tolled at the death of Alexander Hamilton (1804), Lafayette s
return to Philadelphia (1824), the deaths of Adams and Jefferson (1826), Washington s 100th
birthday celebration (1832) and the deaths of Lafayette (1834), John Marshall (1835) and William
Henry Harrison (1841). [4]
In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison s anti slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a Boston
abolitionist pamphlet containing a poem about the Bell, entitled, The Liberty Bell, which represents
the first known usage (in print) of the name, Liberty Bell. [4]
It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but the bell was

hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not reverberate.
On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of Independence Hall in
honor of George Washington s birthday.[5] When the bell was rung,

Statement of Purpose to Attend a University
I have lived in San Antonio, Texas my entire life. Most of my family, from my mother s side, still
lives here, too. Only two of my cousins have ventured outside of Texas. Everyone else either
lives in San Antonio or surrounding cities. One of my cousins, who still lives in Texas, is
attending Texas State University in San Marcos. He and I are the only two males from my
mother s family who have been to college, so we are each proud of the other, and we know that
our family is proud of us. Attending college is a serious pursuit. For years I struggled with
attending college. Happily, having experienced a few rough semesters, I now see the overall
college picture. I had a successful and satisfying six months of college in 2013. My ambition is
to continue working diligently to earn a college degree within the next two years. I was a
talented musician during my first twelve years of school. My musical skills enabled me to learn
violin, piano, and my all time favorite, percussion. I was a leader in the high school band from
being in charge of the drum line, earning first division ratings in every UIL solo event I entered,
and being elected band president. My vision was to become a successful contemporary drummer. I
performed with various local bands, recorded several albums, took a few tours across the country,
and sought my musical future. However, I learned that although I loved and enjoyed playing music,
it was a difficult avenue to a prosperous career which

Nat Turner s Role In The Abolishment Of Slavery
Some people think his actions are crazy. Other suggest that his actions were rational and justified.
Whether or not you believe either of these, it is certain that Nat Turner was a revolutionary figure.
Nat Turner played a key role in the abolishment of slavery. He organized the most notable slave
uprising in modern history. Under his leadership, rebellious slaves killed over 50 white people in
August 1831. Although violence should not be condoned, the brutality of the massacre opened the
eyes of Virginians and citizens across America. The rebellion began to make people see the extent
slaves would go to in order to be freed from their confined lives.
Nat Turner s impact on human history was substantial. His initial goal of freeing his people of
slavery was not accomplished initially. However, his expression of fearlessness and
determination was a key point in the disintegration of slavery 34 years after his death. Ever since
the attacks, Nat Turner and his life history have been well documented. There are so many people
that have been affected by Nat Turner s life. People have been left with questions that cannot be
answered about the rebellion. In order to look for answers to Turner s controversial actions, we
look toward the authors, producers, and historians who have studied Nat Turner and his life.
Immediately after his capture, Nat Turner delivered his confessions to Thomas R. Gray. Gray wrote
down what Turner told him and published a pamphlet after Turner s death.

Pride And Arrogance In Oedipus The King
Throughout the play, Oedipus The King, Oedipus excessive pride and arrogance,
known as hubris, is the first major trait within himself that leads to his tragic demise.
This makes him see himself as being perfect and flawless, on a level with the gods and is
shown as arrogance and an impulsive temper. Oedipus arrogant form of hubris is first
shown in the very beginning of the play when Oedipus says: Here I am, myself, world
famous Oedipus. (6) In this instance, he is very proud of his fame for being the one to
solve Sphinx s riddle. A second example of his hubris is shown when he rejects the
ideas of fate and of gods being in control of lives. When the oracle makes predictions
about Oedipus s future, such as murdering his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

enraged when Tiresias reveals that Oedipus has evil inside him. Oedipus also insults
Tiresias by saying: While you re here you are a hindrance, a nuisance; once out of the
way you won t annoy me anymore. (27) When Tiresias talks to Oedipus, Oedipus quick
temper is also expressed when he accuses Tiresias of murdering Laius. Oedipus accuses
Tiresias by saying: I am angry enough to speak out...I think that you helped to plan the
murder of Laius yes... (21). After being accused by Oedipus, Tiresias declares Oedipus
to be the one who murdered Laius. Oedipus also frequently shows a short and hot
temper when discussing with Creon. When the two discuss if Oedipus wants Creon
banished, Oedipus concludes that Creon was the one who created the plot to murder
Laius and murderer. Even though there is no evidence of Creon murdering Laius,
Oedipus puts the blame on Creon as he is impatient and frustrated over not being able to
find Laius murderer. During this discussion, Oedipus wants Creon dead for supposedly
betraying Oedipus when he states: Not at all. Death is what I want for you, not

Chuck Berry Vs. The Beach Boys Case
Many musicians and artist get plagiarized. Sometimes the case goes threw in court and they have
to take down music, others they get money for it, and sometimes they just have to credit them. If
the case is extremely ridiculous they just kick the case out and it doesn t go anywhere, but that s
not what happened in the Chuck Berry vs The Beach Boys case. Chuck Berry came out with
Sweet Little Sixteen in 1958 and five years later the Beach Boys came out with Surfin USA in
1963. Surfin USA has the same instrumentals as Sweet Little Sixteen they just changed the words.
But no one really noticed till Chuck Berry took The Beach Boys and their sole songwriter Brian
Wilson to court for plagiarism in 1963 shortly after their first top hit came

The Measure Results Of The Data Sets
The measure results of the data sets are not surprising. The means of each of the independent
variables reflect the arbitrary evaluations of each of these parameters. All the variables have
relatively small standard errors compare to their mean. Also, the medians and the means mostly lie
fairly close to each other, in another word, the means well indicate the actual distribution of the
data sets. One of the possible concerns is that per capita disposable income has both high standard
deviationand high variance. This result can be reasonable because of the extreme scatterings of
incomes due to demographics, social classes, and other kinds of factors.
Furthermore, the inflation rate jumped to 4.1% in 2007 and dropped to 1.7% in 2012, which can
also be a factor that causes the change in per capita dollar value, eventually being reflected in the
result.
The predictors are relatively consistent with the hypothesized model for the values of digital
music singles downloaded in the U.S. with the exception of PUI, the percentage individuals using
Internet. As a percentage variable that oscillates between 0 and 1, it is more difficult to
understand exactly how a 1 percent change in the Internet usage would directly impact value of
digital music singles downloaded in the U.S. other than knowing that an increase in percentage
usage would lead to a decrease in the value of digital music singles downloaded. For the other
three independent variables, MR, PCDI and MCSR, it is

Politics Is Blame For A Changing Climate
Politics is to Blame for a Changing Climate In the 1980 s, scientists discovered three important
pieces of information that would shape American politics and the environment for years to come.
The Earth was getting warmer, the warming was caused by human pollution to the air and sea, and
future generations would suffer (Hansen). Few believed these environmentalists at first, but as
science progressed, the signs that climate changewas a real threat became more and more apparent.
Today, the debate on climate change is a popular topic, especially in national politics. Although one
may assume the first step to fixing these environmental problems is to talk about it, evidence shows
that political debate over the issue actually masks it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fact should spark a disturbance with many citizens because it shows how congressional votes
depend on the use of a carbon dioxide emitting fossil fuel to make decisions. Some argue that the
decisions politicians make will not truly affect Americans; however, this is not a sound argument.
Perhaps these people do not see the full effect of a politician s stance on the environment right away.
That all changes when certain politicians, especially conservatives, are voted into office. When a
certain group has control over the government and governmental policies, areas such as the food
industry can be manipulated to follow this economy over environment pattern. For instance, in
Elizabeth Grossman s article Banned in Europe, Safe in the U.S., Grossman describes the
process for restricting chemical use under the TSCA can also take years; in fact, only a handful
of chemicals have ever been barred under TSCA (Grossman 5). This quote clearly illustrates that
getting rid of unsafe or potentially unsafe chemicals is almost impossible. If it does occur, people
will still be exposed to the chemical for years to come. Why would the government want to use
such harsh chemicals? The chemical is working to better the economy, whether it is being sold in
grocery stores or used to create a product produced by thousands of workers to stimulate job growth.
The government does not want to risk the economy over dangerous environmental impacts. The

Descriptive Essay On Fantabulous Restaurant
Fantabulous Restaurants,
It was my first time ever at Ichiban, a Japanese Steakhouse restaurant. The hostess sat my family
and me down in front of a grill where someone was cooking. I ordered my food, and poof, a large
flame exploded above the grill and a huge amount of heat flew by me. The loud sizzling of my food
on the grill which constructed a delicious blend of different foods for my family and me to
consume. The next second I saw the chef scoop up my food and flip it unimaginably high in the
sky and somehow catch it on his spatula, and serve it up tight in front of me with unbelievable
technique. I loved this restaurant and this gave a prime example of what a good restaurant
consists of. The restaurants Weber Grill, and Miller s Pub have impeccable food. This is the
marginalist factor in what makes a good restaurant. The mouth watering options of each
restaurant make me feel famished every time I think about them. They have the best steak,
burgers, and ribs, around the city of Chicago. Each meal makes any other meal, from any other
restaurant seems like a disgrace, in comparison. Why go to a restaurant that has worse food?
There s no logical reason to do so. The best restaurant of them all is clearly Buffalo Wild Wings.
Their Chicken wings are extremely savoring. Buffalo Wild Wings, has the best bar food which
includes Chicken Wings, Burgers, and Nachos. Furthermore one of the most decisive qualities of a
restaurant is the taste of their food.

Essential Operations Of Information Systems
The essential operations of information systems sustained by of critical infrastructure rely on the
explicit functionality of software applications supporting complex, interdependent, information
systems. The software application provides the virtual framework for information systems to
operate efficiently in a critical infrastructure. Information systems consistently communicate with
supplementary information systems positioned throughout the network to support the infrastructure
s essential operations. The dependence of software and information systems increases, as businesses
require additional systems to automate critical operations. However, the connectivity and
complexities of information systems supporting critical infrastructure increases the critical
infrastructure s exposure rate of software vulnerabilities to advanced persistent threats.
Conventionally, software application facilitates process involved in auditing, configuring and
distributing commands to augment interdependent information system performance.
The security and safety of the nation s critical infrastructure are significantly relying on measures
implemented to ensure software resiliency and dependability. According to statistics released by the
National Security Agency (NSA) chief General Keith Alexander in 2013, about 90 percent of the
nation s critical infrastructure is owned by the private sector, and therefore is not under the control
of the U.S. government or military. (Gripas, 2013) However,

Unruly Americans And The Origins Of The Constitution
1.Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the
Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers
when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that
the framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion.
To avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing
the American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on
the origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers
interests involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully
made the government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the
addition of the Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the
American people and their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the
Constitution, the author accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what
they know about the framing of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly
Americans against the state and national governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate
example of the common man. Mathews views are presented in order to contrast the views of James
Madison, whom it seems the author

Open Source Security and The KerchoffВґs Principle
Introduction This lecture was given by Dr. David Mirza Ahmad one of chief mentors of
Subgraph, which is a open source security start up based out in Montreal. The talk was based on
Kerchoff s principle which states the security of any cryptographic system does not rest in its
secrecy; it must be able to fall into the enemy s hand without inconvenience [1]. The kerchoff s
principle underlines the fact that free softwareshould be having reasonably good security. This fact
is well understood by the world of cryptography because cryptography is a black box where you
never know what is happening inside it. There are lot of security research communities across the
globe, many are informal and low budget though. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The community was defiantly open and the Symantec acquisition provoked strong protective
reactions.
Both hackers and security researchers have always shared their research enthusiastically. Someone
would be coming with a new class of attack, then the exploits begin to appear and the cycle
continues.
Another notable example was the coming of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) in the mid late
1990 s. IDS were in high gear selling their IDS by publicising to buy this box and never fear the
hackers again. IDS are designed to detect the various attack signatures in the real world. But their
happiness was short livГ when Tom Ptacek and Tim Newsham published a paper that broke IDS.
Open Source and Security The researchers also write tools, often free software like BackTrack,
Helix. The world owes so much to the open source innovation like grassroots. There were several
others used for vulnerability assessment like ISS(which was eventually acquired by IBM) and
SATAN released in 1995 that did perform a variety of checks although it was controversial during
its time.
Openssh
Version 1 of SSh was designed and implemented as freeware in 1995.
The job of creating a new version of SSH and OpenSSh was taken by OpenBSD.
By the year 1999 it was no longer a freeware.
It turned out to be an enormous success when the whole world abandoned telnet, rsh, rlogin for

Summary Of The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Summary:
On December 26th, 2015, my mother and I went to go see the show, Baskerville, by Ken
Ludwig, at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. The play was a different and clever
take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play
the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has
just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir
Charles death. It is said that he died of a heart attack, but his friend who found him dead, Dr.
James Mortimer, noticed an expression of fear on his face and the prints of gigantic hound nearby.
So the doctor brings the case to Mr. Holmes and it begins.
The venue of the show was the Suzanne Roberts Theatre in Philadelphia. It was a very sleek and
modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage
was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by
the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken
Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on
January 16th, 2015.
Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but
the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made
the play stand out. When I looked at the cast list before I went to see the show I

Why Do Sub-Saharan African Countries Fail
4.In general, the reason of high levels of poverty in Sub Saharan according to Jeffrey Sachs is that
unlike countries in Asia, African countries failed to get onto the ladder of development which
means exporting manufactures and services in world markets, and linked to the world in the
networks of production, trade, finance, and technology. There are two main reasons why Sub
Saharan African countries fail to get into globalization. Firstly, the corruption and mismanagement
of its leaders. Corruption is probably the most understandable reason for lack of development in
this region. Take Zimbabwe for example, Zimbabwe is considered one of the most corrupt nations
in the world, ranking 163rd out of 176 countries on the latest Transparency International

Essay on Book of John
One of the major themes of the Book of John is to prove that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of
God. What makes these miracles so special is the difficulty faced to create them and what each is
trying to teach. There are seven main miracles, seven being a significant number throughout the
bible, that are used to help better understand Jesusand his true identity. We can also find a last
miracle in His resurrection, which in itself is simply put that Jesus is a part of God because of
how impossible this action seemed. The last miracle is sometimes skipped as a sign that Jesus is
the Christ and Messiah. This book was written from true events which is why it is made important
and allows people to see who Jesus is. The reason... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They did not learn the lesson that John was getting at, and they could not realize that in front of
them stood Jesus, the true Messiah. No matter what miracle or action was done, their views
could not be turned around to believe in Jesus. The fourth sign involves Jesus multiplying bread
and fish which can be translated to mean that Jesus is the creative word. He is the giver of life,
which is what the bread would represent. Jesus proves himself to be greater than Moses by
being the true creator of man s provisions. Jesus points out that he can give physical life, but
most importantly give spiritual life because he is the true bread of life. The Messiah is expected
to feed people miraculously, which is exactly was Jesus does in the instance. This would then
mean the people recognized that he was a Messianic figure. Due to the misinterpretation because
of the earthly minds that people have, they wanted physical life and not the spiritual sense of it.
Therefore, they wanted to make Jesus an earthly king instead of the Messianic figure that he was.
Jesus then had to point out the true meaning of what he had done emphasizing that those who go
to him in faith will find life. False faith would mean that the people believed in the miracle but not
in who Jesus truly was. Receiving life through Jesus would illustrate a trusting response to him and
who he truly was, the son of God. Since God is nature and God knows all and controls all,

  • 2. Theme Of Repetition In Lord Of The Flies Imagine being trapped on an island with a group of power hungry boys controlled by savagery and fear. Lord of the Flies is a story about a group of boys who crashed on an island while flying to safety away from the war. The main leaders of the boys are Ralph and Jack. Jack leads a group called the savages who hunt to prove themselves powerful, whereas Ralph s group is focused on being rescued. They live in fear of a beast who Jack and his group insist on hunting and killing. In chapter nine, a boy named Simon goes to where the beast supposedly is and finds that is is just a pilot with a parachute who landed on the island after his plane exploded. He goes to tell the others, but they are so encaged in their fear of the beast and the storm that they believe he is the beast and rip him apart. Simon dies and most boys don t fully realize the extent of what they have done until later because of that same fear. Fear can overtake your mind and body causing you to do terrible things that can hurt you and others. In chapter 9 of Lord of the Flies, William Golding employs repetition, symbolism, and foreshadowing to convey the theme that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Golding really wants things to be noticed, he repeats them and makes them stand out. One of the main things They repeat is Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood! Do him in! (Golding 175). The boys chanting this over and over as they rip simon apart show how the fear and savagery can take over. Jack wants to be big and bad and in charge. He took a small, normal fear, and turned it to something terrible. He wants to hunt and to kill to prove his worth, and they say this to egg each other on. To remind them that this is okay because it is the beast and the beast is bad, but the savagery they created is so much worse than any beast could ever be. This shows how hard it really is to go back and fix civilization, especially when someone was murdered because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Essay About Escrima Escrima The history of the Philippines stretches all the way back as far as 900 AD. Examining the history of the Philippines, it s clear that martial arts have always been an essential part of the Filipino culture. Many different cultures and migrants influenced the martial arts of the Philippines. Escrima has had a long and savage history, dating back to 1521 when Spanish rule first came to the Philippine Islands. Before colonization by Spain, Escrima was taught as a recreational activity, along with reading, writing, religion and Sanskrit. The Spaniards had a hard time imposing their rule on the inhabitants worshipped wielded their bolos, daggers and sticks. Until they brought in firearms so that they could reinforce orders. In the 1700 s, when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Survival was not for the strongest, but the smartest. Men used whatever they could to defend and protect themselves against wild animals and enemies. This could be as simple as throwing an object, such as using a tree branch, or poking with a sharp object. Geographic is another contributor to Filipino martial art. There are over 7,000 total islands, and these are divided into the three major island groups consisting of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. There are over a hundred different dialects throughout the country. However, the national language spoken is Tagalog (Berry Specht, para. 11). This means there is a lack of organization to centralize the theme in the Filipino Martial Arts, which revolves around fighting concepts. Looking at the different styles and systems of Escrima, the techniques used are somewhat different, but the overall concepts of combat and winning remain the same. The Filipino martial arts are not compassionate; it is a vicious and dangerous form of self defense. There are hundreds of unique styles of the Filipino martial arts throughout the ... • 5. Causes And Effects Of The Green Revolution When people discuss the Green Revolution they are talking about the quick adoption of new technologies and the introduction of new scientifically bred crop varieties. The Green Revolution took place due to inadequate amounts of food, depleted land, and economic poverty. Many changes occurred as a result, some being positive and some being negative. A positive effect of the Green Revolution was an increased amount of food being available for the population. However, the reduced availability of nutritious crops, water shortages, and increased tensions and conflicts deterred some gains of the movement. Because of this, the Green Revolution was more harmful than helpful. There were many major issues around the world that brought around the start of the Green Revolution. One major cause was the inadequate amount of food in relation to the population. In Doc. 1, a graph is provided that compares the wheat yielded in Mexico and India from 1950 2010. From 1950 1970, the graph shows that Mexico s crops yielded low amounts of wheat. For India, the graph shows that the crops yielded low amounts of wheat from 1965 1985 which was after the Green Revolution began. The purpose of this graph was to provide the statistics on wheat yielded and how it changed over the decades. The intended audience of this graph was the scientists who wanted to see the progression before and after the revolution. This graph is significant to the topic because it shows that the low amount of wheat yielded ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Before coming into this course my understanding of these concepts was mediocre, but after learning about the impacts of each I now see a different perspective. My understanding of these concepts evolved and changed over time by learning new information about each separately and applying each to my own life. Now my knowledge is beyond mediocre. My identity relating to sexual identity was pretty set before coming into this course. I knew even from a kid I was straight, because I was constantly looking at guys as well as talking about how cute they were. He was told to act like a man and not like a girl. He felt like he was being discriminated against because he was different. This hurt me because it s not fair to feel that way. Our class also discussed the type of discrimination that African Americans face when it comes to their beauty. Attributes that African Americans already posses is popular by social media, but they are not recognized for their beauty. Only white people seem to get all of the attention. Achieving Millennium Development Goal 2 With the goal of achieving Millennium Development Goal 2(MDG TL, 2014), Timor Leste is currently working to enhance the quality of education, particularly in the Ensino Basico (Basic Education) (NESP Tl, 2011). Responding to these challenges, the Ministry of Education provides professional training referred to as curso intensivo in order to facilitate pedagogical change in teachers (Shah, 2013). This professional training embraces the concept of the community of practice because teachers are principally engaged in joint activities to support each other, and to share information on the subject of knowledge in order to enhance the quality of teaching. Educational Policy in Timor Leste, The National Educational Strategic Plan 2011 2030, emphasizes that a holistic approach such as communities of practice, is the best way to facilitate pedagogical renewal in Timor Leste educational system (NESP TL, 2011). Wenger, McDermott, and Snyder (2006) acknowledge the benefit of communities of practice by explaining that each group member s concerns and issues on the practical subject can be mutually addressed through regular interaction. Accordingly, this chapter will be divided into several sections; firstly, definition of terms. This section will discuss about originality, definition, characteristics, principles of practice and understanding the communities of practice. It is a force that lingers seemingly undetected in every relation, in every interaction and in every corner of society that it can fill. This force is manipulative, coercive, powerful and it structures nearly every aspect of social life. What is this force, you may ask? Well, it is popularly referred to as Heterosexuality. Indeed, heterosexuality, as an institution, produces and wields tremendous power over the lives and decisions of social actors. It cuts through every social facet, safeguards and constructs hierarchies and orders along lines of gender, sexuality, race, and class. Incontrovertibly, heterosexuality is a fundamental organizing principle of our society maintained through cultural productions, discursive practices, and heterosexual norms. Moreover, the dominance of heterosexuality is nourished and privileged through the heterosexual imaginary a way of thinking that conceals the operation of heterosexuality in structuring gender (across race, class and sexuality) and closes off any critical analysis of heterosexuality as an organizing institution (Ingraham, 2002, p. 76). Though what the meaning of lifeis seems to be unique to each individual, when a philosopher asserts they have revelated the meaning of life, it is imperative to investigate their claims. To illustrate his line of thinking relating to these concepts, he compares the pondering of life to a Celine Dion concert. He explains Compare that to a more mundane question, such as why on earth you are sitting in the front row waiting for a Celine Dion concert to begin. One answer is because you bought a ticket, took a train and then your seat. That explains why you re there in a backward looking way. Another answer is that you re there because you want to hear Dion sing, which explains your presence in a forward looking (though somewhat baffling) way. The moral of this extended yet amusing metaphor is that the answer one is searching for dictates the approach they implement to find said answer. Both methods, contemplating the future and the past, are still majorly flawed, as neither looking forwards nor backwards truly give the answer to the meaning of a person s life or why they are on earth. While looking at one s ancestry and roots reveals where a person is originated from and the route that lead them to where they are today, it does not necessarily reveal the reasoning as to why they are in their current reality. Baggini explains this by stating, It is perhaps surprising how often it is assumed that a look back to our origins will lead us to the meaning of life . . . if we take a long, cold look back to our origins, we just find ape like ancestors and an evolutionary trail that leads back to the big bang. However, in particular to the Anns test, the incremental growth of law and the implementation of the Caparo test didn t emerge from a lack of policy consideration, but rather from no recognition of previous policy, as it was not necessary to bring the facts of that situation within those of previous situation where a duty of care had been held to exist within the Anns test. This draws parallels with Lord Toulson s idea of an argument by analogy for extending liability . The fact that there was no homage paid to previous case law in determining a duty of care may contribute to the necessity of implementing the 3 stage Caparo test , as it is necessary for courts to be consistent in their rulings so that people know where they stand under the law. In today s society, the education system is called upon to teach all students at high levels. It has been established through significant research that teachers have a high impact on student learning, according to the RAND Corporation, research suggests that, among schoolrelated factors, teachers matter most. When it comes to student performance on reading and math tests, a teacher is estimated to have two to three times the impact of any other school factor, including services, facilities, and even leadership. In order to ensure that students have the greatest chance for achievement, it is vital that school communities know that they have high quality teachers in place. This is one of the most frequently asked questions by stock market participants. There are varied internal and external factors affecting the price of a share. It is very hard to say just one or two factors affect the share prices. So, let us have a look at the factors that affect share prices. Demand and Supply This is the first factor that affects share prices. When you get to see that more people are buying stocks, then there is an increase in the price of that particular stock. On the other hand price of stock falls when more people are selling their stocks. So it is very difficult to predict the Indian stock market. This is the main reason why you need to get in touch with a good stock market consultant. There is consultancy for you which can help you a lot on choosing the right stocks for you. Market cap It is a very big mistake when you try to guess a company s worth from the price of a stock. You should know that the more important is the market capitalization of the particular company. This helps to determine the worth of a company. So market cap serves as an important use to determine share prices. Earning per share Now when it comes to the term, earning per share , it means the profit that a particular company has made per share and that too on the last quarter. They also get out of control when they get a huge following of people that haven t put time into research to tell if the theory is valid or not. When ridiculous conspiracy theories come up, they can be easily debunked. I will go over multiple conspiracy theories and being to prove them wrong by breaking them down and presenting facts that make these theories not possible. The first theory is the Moon Landing conspiracy theory. This theory goes back to the Apollo 11 moon landing. Theorists believe that the moon landing was all faked in an attempt to beat Russia in the Space Race . Some proof they claim to have is when the astronauts are putting up the American flag it waves, there is no wind on the moon . The flag is held up by a horizontal bar and simply moves when it is unfurled and as the pole is being fixed into position by the astronauts the pole continues to vibrate after the astronauts let go. Short Story The Chair On Top Of The World In the two short stories The chair on top of the world by Stuart Baum and All summer in a day by Ray Bradbury, I will be comparing Tomas, the main character from The chair on top of the world and Margot, the main character from All summer in a day . I will be comparing what Tomas s personality to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main character attempts to find the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn and 2 dragons that assist him on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas figures out that since the world is a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of the world. All summer in a day , in this short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earthto Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of this planet s heavy rain and wants to sunto rise. A few days later, she hears that scientists predict the sun will be finally coming out again. Margot becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that before the teacher gets to class, William the bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour, the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet and let Margot out. That was those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than Margot s because Tomas is braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets along better with other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that he persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is? asked Tomas. The dragon shook its head. Nope, sorry. (6 Baum)The quote helps back up my statement because This was one of the challenges Tomas faced when he wanted to find the chair on top of the world. So Tomas went up to first the first mountain and the dragon told him that the mountain wasn t on the top of the world. So this means that Tomas didn t give up on sitting on the top of the world. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols associated with the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. Whether or not you believe either of these, it is certain that Nat Turner was a revolutionary figure. Nat Turner played a key role in the abolishment of slavery. He organized the most notable slave uprising in modern history. Under his leadership, rebellious slaves killed over 50 white people in August 1831. Although violence should not be condoned, the brutality of the massacre opened the eyes of Virginians and citizens across America. The rebellion began to make people see the extent slaves would go to in order to be freed from their confined lives. Nat Turner s impact on human history was substantial. His initial goal of freeing his people of slavery was not accomplished initially. However, his expression of fearlessness and determination was a key point in the disintegration of slavery 34 years after his death. Ever since the attacks, Nat Turner and his life history have been well documented. There are so many people that have been affected by Nat Turner s life. People have been left with questions that cannot be answered about the rebellion. In order to look for answers to Turner s controversial actions, we look toward the authors, producers, and historians who have studied Nat Turner and his life. The means of each of the independent variables reflect the arbitrary evaluations of each of these parameters. All the variables have relatively small standard errors compare to their mean. Also, the medians and the means mostly lie fairly close to each other, in another word, the means well indicate the actual distribution of the data sets. One of the possible concerns is that per capita disposable income has both high standard deviationand high variance. This result can be reasonable because of the extreme scatterings of incomes due to demographics, social classes, and other kinds of factors. Furthermore, the inflation rate jumped to 4.1% in 2007 and dropped to 1.7% in 2012, which can also be a factor that causes the change in per capita dollar value, eventually being reflected in the result. Unruly Americans And The Origins Of The Constitution 1.Purpose of Book The main purpose behind the book Unruly Americans and the Origins of the Constitution, by Woody Holton is to demonstrate the authors view on the true intent of the Framers when writing the Constitution. Although at first glance the book may seem to uphold the idea that the framers wrote the Constitution in order to protect civil liberties, Holton has a different opinion. To avoid a one sided book, the author not only looks at the framers intent, but the struggles facing the American people. This book emphasizes the alternative interpretations offered by Americans on the origins of the Constitution. Holton s purpose with this book was to show that the framers interests involved making America more attractive to investors. In order to do so, they purposefully made the government less democratic with the writing of the Constitution. However, with the addition of the Bill of Rights, one could argue the Framers had at least a slight concern for the American people and their civil liberties. In offering alternative interpretations of the origins of the Constitution, the author accomplishes his secondary purpose, to make the reader challenge what they know about the framing of the Constitution. Holton details the rebellion of the Unruly Americans against the state and national governments, using Adonijah Mathews as an ultimate example of the common man. The play was a different and clever take on the mystery novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The play the book tell the story about an attempted murder of a man called Sir Henry Baskerville, who has just inherited his uncle, Sir Charles Baskerville s estate. There is some suspicion surrounding Sir Charles death. It was a very sleek and modern looking place. It was smaller than I imagined outside and inside of the theatre. The stage was a perfect square black box type stage, completely surrounded by lights. The show was done by the Philadelphia Theatre Company, and the show was written by American playwright Ken Ludwig. The contemporary drama show premiered at the Arena Stage in Washington, DC on January 16th, 2015. Ludwig s interpretation of the story was very clever and funny. It was close to being farcical, but the actual premise of the show kept it from reaching that point. There were two things that made the play stand out. When I looked at the cast list before I went to see the show I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Essay on Book of John One of the major themes of the Book of John is to prove that Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. What makes these miracles so special is the difficulty faced to create them and what each is trying to teach. There are seven main miracles, seven being a significant number throughout the bible, that are used to help better understand Jesusand his true identity. We can also find a last miracle in His resurrection, which in itself is simply put that Jesus is a part of God because of how impossible this action seemed. The last miracle is sometimes skipped as a sign that Jesus is the Christ and Messiah. This book was written from true events which is why it is made important and allows people to see who Jesus is. The reason... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They did not learn the lesson that John was getting at, and they could not realize that in front of them stood Jesus, the true Messiah. No matter what miracle or action was done, their views could not be turned around to believe in Jesus. The fourth sign involves Jesus multiplying bread and fish which can be translated to mean that Jesus is the creative word. He is the giver of life, which is what the bread would represent. Jesus proves himself to be greater than Moses by being the true creator of man s provisions. Jesus points out that he can give physical life, but most importantly give spiritual life because he is the true bread of life. The Messiah is expected to feed people miraculously, which is exactly was Jesus does in the instance. This would then mean the people recognized that he was a Messianic figure. Due to the misinterpretation because of the earthly minds that people have, they wanted physical life and not the spiritual sense of it. Therefore, they wanted to make Jesus an earthly king instead of the Messianic figure that he was. Jesus then had to point out the true meaning of what he had done emphasizing that those who go to him in faith will find life. False faith would mean that the people believed in the miracle but not in who Jesus truly was. Receiving life through Jesus would illustrate a trusting response to him and who he truly was, the son of God. Since God is nature and God knows all and controls all, ...
