In a democratic system it is vital that citizens engage in their civic duty of voting; only then can a
proper governing body be chosen to represent the will of the majority. Abraham Lincoln got to the

One of the greatest factors in deciding which Member of Parliament many voters will trust with
representing them is the level of confidence they have in the political leader. Confidence is the
greatest of all voter assets for it requires knowledge of the leader s platform, and the platform of the

During the eighteenth century, it was a time where people were obsessed with rationality and
scientific precision. In response to this, artists created a literary movement the Romantic period.
This period was not just about love stories; it was a social movement revolved around the concept
of imagination. Poets used imagination to escape the troubles going on in the real world. Two
authors who used their imagination during this timeare William Wordsworthand John Keats. Both
Wordsworth and Coleridge use the imagination to escape their present reality. While Wordsworth s

It was late fall in 2009 when I quietly sat on the plane looking after my youngest brother who
was restlessly sitting besides me. We were heading back to my hometown, Kotzebue, Alaska, for

On one side of the glass is the harsh reality that is Paul s life, while on the other side is the fantasy
that Paul pictures himself fitting into.
The flowers in the story symbolize Paul s place in the dream. He sees himself as the final piece
his perfect life. When Paul comes arrives in the city, he spots that there are not any flowers in his
room and orders for someone to retrieve some. Paul places them in water, and then gets into a
bath himself. When he was shown to his sitting room on the eighth floor, he saw at a glance that
was as it should be; there was but one detail in his mental picture that the place did not realize, so

showing that Paul was not in the dream. His getting the flowers, symbolizes that he had finally
placed himself in the dream.
Towards the end of the story, Paul takes a walk in the park where he sees flowers blooming in a
glass case. This symbolizes that it is not possible for Paul s dream to be actuality , or at least under
