Captain Jaggery If You Will Realize Your Destiny
Charlotte Doyle If you realize your responsibility you will realize your destiny Unknown
Charlotte Doyle was a fine woman. In the story, she was a girl age of 13. She was a proper girl,
and she did not keep to that style. She turned into a deckhand, a part of the crew. Due to her
manners, Captain Jaggery sought out to call her of unnaturalness. She was accused of killing
Captain Jaggery s secondhand mate, Mr. Hollybrass. She was sentenced and accused of
unnaturalness, meaning her manners throughout the journey have been strange and unpredictable.
Throughout this journey, Charlotte showed signs of not unnaturalness, but she was enthusiastic,
friendly, and positive. During the voyage, Charlotte was very enthusiastic. She was enthusiastic
from the start, of course. She couldn t wait to get back. She was waiting for two families, and she
was excited for the three month adventure waiting ahead. Later in the story, she whips Captain

With the two families not with her, it was hard to keep it that way. After a while though, she
realizes that it would be so bad, and that she was making a few friends. Zachariah liked her, and
so did the captain. She kept positive until the mutiny. A little while after the mutiny Charlotte
once again found hope. She would join the crew. She was positive she could make the crew, but
first she had to believe in herself and climb to the top of the main mast. Physically for her it was
hard, but her mentality believed she could. She was positive from start to finish, and ended after
30 minutes of hard work. After she became part of the crew, Captain Jaggery decided to drive them
into a huge storm. Charlotte had to be positive through the storm in order to stay alive. Her own
mind saved her. She once was caught in the mast, and had to get out. Her positivity and her strength

Benefits Of Aquatic Therapy For Patients With Low Back Pain
if you are suffering chronic back pain being in warm water will cause vasodilation which will help
lead blood towards the area of pain.1
Cold water can cause vasoconstriction which will help stop the blood from running to an area of
acute injury. A systematic review by Waller , Lambeck , and Daly, composed of 37 aquatic
therapy studies with 1007 participants, and picked 7 of those studies and used McGill Pain
Questionnaire, Oswestry Disability Index, the number of work days lost from low back pain, and
subjective assessment scale for pain to measure the outcomes. The SIGN 50 and PEDro scale
assessment forms were used to assess the methodological quality. The results showed that aquatic
therapy has a beneficial effect on low back pain, but, is no better than any other intervention.8 This
study demonstrated that aquatic therapy can be beneficial for patients with low back pain but are
not the only intervention that can help low back pain. A study by Baena Beato, Artero, Arroyo
Morales, Robles Fuentes, Gatto Cardia, and Delgado FernГЎndez, study with forty nine
participants with low back pain, and split them into three groups active, waiting list, and
controlled group. The active group was then split into two months or five times/week. Participants
on the waiting list were part of the control group but were offered aquatic therapy after the follow
up period of the study. The active group showed huge improvements in decreased disability and
back pain, improved body

Indian English
Features of Indian English Indian English refers to dialects or varieties of English spoken
primarily in India and also by Indian Diaspora elsewhere In the world. Due to British colonialism
for over two hundred years as were used more to British English than to American, Australian or
Canadian English. And due to the presence of vernacular languages in our country, English was
chosen to be the co official language of the union of India. Our obvious choice is one of the
varieties of British English; which educated southern British English also called as Received

Nevertheless, native English speakers often have difficulties understanding them because of the
combination of the pronunciation problems listed above and the use of Hindi intonation patterns.
(In Hindi emphasis is accomplished by higher pitch rather than by the heavier articulation that
typifies English.) The result of this is the sing song effect that English spoken by Hindi learners
often has on native English speakers. http://esl.fis.edu/grammar/langdiff/hindi.htm English usage
in India ranges from more or less uniform (national variety) to mutually unintelligible varieties. A
number of surveys show that Indians prefer to use and learn Indian English. They consider their
English as good and proper. Also, empirical evidence shows that in North America, Indian
English is more readily understood than even the BBC or British varieties. Five notable phonetic
and phonological features of Indian English are as follows: (1) Lack of aspiration in the word
initial position: Words such as pin and Kanpur (name of city) are pronounced as pin and kanpur;
not as phin and khanpur, respectively; (2) Retroflexion. Alveolar consonants: t, and d are replaced
by their corresponding Retroflex consonants (T, D). Therefore, alveolar t and d in the name of the
months such as October, September and December are pronounced as OcTober, SepTember, and
December; (3) Lack of Interdentals: Words such as thanks and that are pronounced with

The Pet Food Industry
Over the period within which the pet food poisoning struck the pet owners limited communication
came from the Menu Pet Food Company. The silence of the company was likely as a result of
uncertainty of the firm about the presence of toxic components on the pet food products. The
silence was also elicited by the need of the company to lean on the shadows of the several other pet
foodmanufacturing firms in the market. The messages that the company offered to the public
were mostly directives on the types of products that were to be avoided by the customers. The
company s website only bore a picture of a dog crunching delicacy from even in the wake of anger
and fear that the pet owners had. (Pallak Babej,2007) The communications were majorly on the
recalls of the purchased products. The first recall was made on 16th March 2007.In the
announcement the company demanded that the pet owners desist from using products obtained
from two of the company s plants. However, the cases of deaths of the pets continued to be
reported from customers who obtained their products from Kansas and Emporia plants whose
products had initially been restricted. As a result, the company expanded its recall to encompass
particular products and specific dates of manufacture of the products (fda.gov).
On May 2nd the company continued its recall of the products and included products that were from
the plants that had used Chemo Nitra in its manufacturing process. The company claimed the

Pastoring and Parenting Essay
The problem with being both a pastor and a parent at the same time is finding and adhering to the
distinction between shepherding the church members and being a father to one s children. A
distinction must be made between pastoring a church and parenting one s children because of the
nature of each responsibility which when combined with the other produces a difficult situation.
While being a pastorrequires a caring heart for one s congregation, being a good parent requires a
love for one s children that is so deep that caring for anyone else pales in comparison. Problems
arise when a pastor cares too much for his congregation or what they think of him and ignores his
family in the process. One s family should always come first not... Show more content on

In a Pastor s home, these may be only the basics; expectations may be pilled on the pastor s kid
(PK) to such an alarming degree that many adults, let alone kids, could not handle the pressure.
A PK may be so sheltered that they will have no friends aside from those that are chosen for
them. They may not be allowed to go to a public or even Christian school and instead forced to
be home schooled in an effort to control who they come in contact with. This desire to have
complete control stems from a fear that left to their own devices, a PK will bring public shame
to the congregation or scandal to the community (Mickey 22). Usually, when one thinks of a
sheltered child it is in a negative way as the earlier examples have shown. However, not all
sheltering is bad and within a Pastor s home it may be very necessary for the sake of the family s
relationship with each other. The necessity is shown in the following examples. The father may
shelter the kids from certain members of the church when said members make unexpected visits
to the home. The PK may also be sheltered from certain groups or clubs at church so that they are
not made fun of for being the pastor s son or daughter. Those who are outside of the pastor s
family may never find it possible to relate to the difficulties faced by the PK and for this reason, a
protective barrier is often times needed.

Independence Movement of Brazil and Mexico.
If revolutionary movement is defined as a social movement dedicated to changing the power or the
organizational structures by an independence movement, and if most is defined as greatest,
successful as a desired outcome and original rationale and/or purpose is defined as an fundamental
intentional reason, then between the countries of Braziland Mexico, Brazil had the most successful
revolutionary movement in terms of its original rationale and/or purpose because Brazil, unlike the
Mexican independence movement, had a greater universal agreement about independence between
every social class, Brazil was politically stable after independence and it was economically stable
after independence.
Before Mexico gained independence from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The war of independence was not a lopsided contest with a foregone conclusion; it was, rather, a
struggle in which the nation was divided into loyalties and in which the final outcome was not
inevitable; it was a revolutionary civil war (Bethell 70). In Brazil independence was in universal
agreement between all social classes, since Brazil was only split into two classes, due to their
unique system that allows a slave to earn his freedom and make a living. Because of its system
of clientele and patronage, the racial and social tension present in Mexico was less severe in
Brazil, which is why Mexico had a dissenting agreement on the matter of independence. The
support for independence was in concordance from both sides of these social classes of Brazil.
Acting with the support of the Brazilian aristocracy, who were anxious to preserve their
considerable landholdings from which they exported sugar, coffee, and cotton, and with the
backing of the British, who were eager to monopolize the trade with Brazil, the monarch moved to
secure Brazil s autonomy (Meade 74). The slave populations as well as the Brazilian aristocracy
were in full support of independence, creating a national bond on the subject. Lower class blacks
and mulattoes saw independence as a step towards eliminating the racial discrimination that
prohibited their appointment to administrative positions (Viotti da Costa 8). Since the idea of
independence was not fully

The Marshmallow Effect
Marshmallow Effect Scientists often attribute adaptive and goal directed human behavior to an
intellectual control system that organizes, monitors, and alters the settings of lower level
perceptive processes. This allows people to suppress or replace impulsive, habitual, or
inappropriate actions. The Marshmallow Effect is an experiment conducted by psychologist Walter
Mischel in the 1970 s to study self control in children (Walter, 2013). This experiment is a simple
but effective when it comes to the modern study of the human ability to delay gratification. The
studies are about achievement situations and what influences a child to reach his or her choice.
The ability to delay gratification has commonly been seen in large part as an issue... Show more

Comparing Icarus And An Essay On Man
Faced with the complexity of free will, men will succumb to acting on impulse, which is what lures
them to the vices of failure. In the second epistle of An Essay on Man by Alexander Pope, the
contradictory nature of mankind is explored through various contrasts. To understand mankind as a
whole, one must decipher an individual, in which he will discover that man, by nature, is a paradox.
The connotation of the text supports the Enlightenment ideas of understanding the world, as
comprehension of man is the heart of the poem. Unsure of purpose or position in the world,
mankind is destined to spend their time seeking, but never truly finding. Icarus, by Wendy A.
Shaffer, shares the same notion that men are granted an option. However, following... Show more

However, the method in which this message is presented varies, in relation to how this is to
occur. Pope believes that men relate to the common maxim: too much of anything can be a bad
thing. Men roam the world with too much knowledge for the skeptic s side, with too much
weakness for the stoic s pride (Pope 5, 6). The parallelism proves that knowledge shields men
from confusion, and weakness prohibits them from remaining strong willed. Too much of
everything is what becomes debilitating. Excerpted from an extensive work, the second epistle of
An Essay on Man, is written in a series of heroic couplets with a constant ABAB rhyme scheme.
Here, structure and message collide to prove that the only consistency in life is the inconsistency of
people. The idea of capricious human nature is paralleled in the image of the melting wings
illustrated in Icarus. All trust was placed within the wings that flew Icarus to the sun; however,
they abandoned him, shifting the magnitude of his pride to solemnity. The wax that composed his
wings seemed such a strong, solid type but . . . melted away when things got hot (Shaffer 5, 7).
Like the wings, when a situation becomes hot, people have the tendency to forsake it (Shaffer 7).
The perplexity and uncertainty brought forth by life s decisions allocate a fickle lifestyle. This is
further supported by the fact that Icarus, was written in a free verse with no rhyme scheme. The
lack of structure proves the futility in believing the best of people, and relates to Icarus s reluctance
towards obedience. Like Icarus, people will end up doing whatever pleases them to mask their
confusion. Thus, it is erratic nature that brings about the human tendency to

American Culture A Paradox
The book The Yin and Yang of American Culture A Paradox by Eunice Yinter. The book is quite
interesting to read, and learning the views of a person born and raised in Asia was very revealing.
It can be difficult to determine other people s views of Americans from casual observation. Five of
the virtues listed as Yang in the book seem true to me and related to each other. These virtues are:
dreaming the impossible, frontier spirit, daring to be yourself, individual merit, and competitive
spirit. These values are interrelated since they involve the very ambitious nature of Americans, and
together, they help make America one of the most competitive and wealthy countries in the world.
Dreaming the impossible is an important part of American s ... Show more content on

This encourages ambition as Americans feel if their merit is strong enough, they can accomplish
anything. Americans often judge each other on their individual merit, feeling worthy
companions will better help them achieve their ambitions. They feel family and friends do little
to reflect one s personal worth. Some jobs set up a system involving testing to try to ensure that
promotions or hiring are based on individual merit. Americans are more impressed by personal
achievements such as degrees or awards than the achievements of one s friends or family. At
college, I work hard to prove my worth by gaining a degree which will show my academic worth.
I think that although individual merit is important, it is valued more when merit is needed, as
nepotism is still a strong influence. However, since individual merit is very much valued in
America, it allows people to feel their ambitions are achievable and therefore worth

Throughout history, Afghanistan and Libya have had various difficulties in dealing with harsh
terrorist groups throughout the country and the way they negatively affected women s rights. They
have unwillingly embraced the terrorist groups but are fighting for them to get out. While police
forces attempt to handle the situation and remove these groups, it so far has not made a lasting
impact. In some cases the country was fighting against its own citizens. Currently in Libya, there is
a group called the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group. The group s purpose is to overthrow the current
Libyan government led by Muammar Qadhafi. A continent away, another war torn country,
Afghanistan, has similarly not found peace. (6) Presently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Afghan Uniform Police, which is responsible for general police duties, and four specialized police

The Effect Mixing Has on the Wave Patterns of a Song
Anna Rezhko

Abstract The purpose of the experiment was to find the objective difference between an original
song and an acoustic or a remix version of the same song. The expectation was that the difference
lies in the amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created
when an object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies.
Sixty songs were analyzed in Audacity, a musicprogram. Using the output, their amplitudes were
measured and compared with other versions having clean audio and the same artist. Most of the
data supported the hypothesis by stating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The outliers to this was Lips Are Moving, Viva la Vida, Take me to Church, and Ice Ice Baby. A
possible reason for this is differences between recording circumstances. All artists have different
equipment and that impacts the sound quality. Unfortunately, this is a variable that couldn t have
been manipulated due to lack of resources and remains an issue in the experimental design. The
recording of Lips Are Moving especially had unusably low Greatest Amplitude readings: 0.20,
0.17, and 0.18 cm. This is probably a flawed recording, not a program error, because all three trials
were outliers and the rest of the songs had different results. Ideally, in future experiments, all the
artists should be brought in to one studio and had them record in the exact same circumstances with

Examining Effectiveness Of Treatment Strategies Used With...
Examining Effectiveness of Treatment Strategies Used With Survivors of Rape Therapy for
survivors of rape is often difficult to obtain. The lack of availability of counselors who specialize in
specific trauma treatments, like prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy, as well as
lack of insurance and location, are hardships for treatment seeking individuals. Therefore, it is
important to pinpoint the most effective treatments for those who have suffered the trauma of rape.
The purpose of this research is to outline the most effective, lasting, and current treatments used to
treat female survivors of sexual assault. Modern treatments for rape trauma syndrome include
cognitive, behavioral, and exposure components. The specific protocols of cognitive processing
therapy and prolonged exposure have both been demonstrated to be effective in treating
posttraumatic stress disorder and common comorbid disorders, like depression, anxiety, guilt, and
anger (Resick, Williams, Suvak, Monson, Gradus, 2012, p. 202). Existential therapy, person
centered counseling, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing are underlying
philosophies and techniques investigated. It can prove difficult to find empirically supported
treatments because the research is often not explicitly experimental, and there is a limitation to
sampling. Examining different types of standard treatments used with female survivors of rape is
necessary to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of

The Nazi Movement and the Lavender Scare
The Nazi Political Movement in Germany, in the 1930s and 1940s, involved one of the most
virulent anti homosexual campaigns in world history. In the 1950s and 1960s, another less well
known anti homosexual campaign, known as the Lavender Scare, raged in Washington, DC.
Though, the Nazi movement is much more well known, both movements used similar tactics and
involved comparable people.
The Goal Both the Nazi Political Movemen,t in Germany, and the post World War II/Cold War
attacks on homosexuals, were driven by similar goals. The Nazi movement arose after Germany
had lost World War 1 and was being restricted heavily by the Treaty of Versailles. The country faced

Because this fear was instilled, the public played a larger role in the movement.
Strategies
Most notable when studying the comparison between the Nazi attack of homosexuals and the
Washington DC attack on homosexuals is the similarity of the methods and strategies of
oppression. Both movements accelerated their affront on homosexual citizens over time. At the
beginning of Nazi Germany, it was only homosexuals in power or homosexuals that were accused
of trying to convert people to homosexuality that were punished heavily, then as the movement
progressed, anyone suspected of being homosexual was sent to a concentration camp. Similarly, the
Lavender Scare escalated from only openly homosexual people being suspected to full on police
raids and interrogation. As the two movements got a foothold in their respective countries, they
became increasingly fanatical. Before their respective anti homosexual movements, Washington DC
and Berlin both had thriving gay and lesbian communities with social outlets and general
acceptance, but as time went on, the two societies turned hostile to homosexuals with the prodding
of the leaders of the two movements. Both movements toyed with chemical, surgical, and/or
psychological methods of gay conversion. At the Atascadero State Hospital in the United States,
homosexuals were treated with a drug that simulated the feeling of drowning as a sort of aversion

Roy Lichtenstein Drowning Girl
Roy Lichtenstein (October 27, 1923 September 29, 1997) was one of the most innovative artists
towards the end of the 20th century. He helped originate modern day Pop Art, and his first
pieces of work were all based off of comic strips, advertisements, etc. that mimicked the
indecency that newspaper reproductions had for printing. These artworks altered the history of
modern art and created a new, American feel and view to the way art was seen as. Lichtenstein s
success was through all of his time, focus, and energy that was put into his creations, and he
went on to create more than 5,000 paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, murals and other
objects after his peak in the 1960s. Lichtenstein s piece Drowning Girl (1963) was an oil and
synthetic polymer paint on canvas (171.6 x 169.5 cm). He based this painting off of Run for
Love!, the melodramatic lead story in DC Comics Secret Love #83 (1962), to portray a different
message than the actual comic. Lichtenstein altered words such as I don t care! and the man s
(boyfriend s) name, when originally they were I don t care if I have a cramp! and Mal, not Brad,

The gruesome zombie apocalypse had broken out three days ago, and everyone was in full panic

was a loud BANG! And the sound of glass shattering made everyone turn and look towards the

were now invading the building! I grabbed my three closest friends and we all looked at each

in it. We all climbed in the small, dingy, vent and crawled around until we found an opening
going to the outside of the building. After we checked to make sure the coast was clear, we
crawled out and tried not to panic while trying to figure out what to do next. We spotted some
four wheelers parked on the side of the building and all quickly jumped on one. The first thing we

Influence of Media on Crime.
Is Media Responsible for the Increasing Crime Rate?
It is believed that the great Plato had a question similar to this, he was worried whether the
violence in plays will have a negative effect on people of his land. We cannot mitigate the
influence of media on the society. Some believe that it is the curse for the contemporary society, as
it invigorates individuals to commit crimes. Are these people right? Read on to know the answer to
this grave question.
Contrary to the popular belief, media is not responsible for the increase in the rate of crime! There is
no doubt that, media has the power to inspire, persuade, and provoke the masses, but criticizing it
for the rise in crime, is a sign of ignorance. The critics who disparage the ... Show more content on

false, as the rate of crime has always been fluctuating, but the reporting of stories of violence by
the media, has always been on the rise. So, it is very difficult to establish a

Comparing Plato s Theaetetus, The Dialog Between Socrates...
Knowledge Defined as Justified True Belief
In Plato s Theaetetus, the dialog between Socrates and his student, Theaetetus, sets up the argument
that knowledge is true belief that is adequately justified. Although there are many examples that
prove Plato s suggestion, people such as Edmund Gettier have questioned and disproved the notion
of knowledge as justified true belief. In response to Gettier s findings, many have tried to modify
or find an alternative to the Justified True Belief model in search for the true definition of
knowledge. In this paper, I will outline and discuss Plato s Justified True Belief argument, outline
and discuss Gettier s response to Plato s argument, and lastly, present and analyze four solutions to
the Gettier problems.
1. Plato s Justified True Belief
In Plato s Theaetetus, Socrates starts his discussion by asking Theaetetus to define the word
knowledge. In response to Socrates question, Theaetetus responds by saying, geometry...cobblery,
and other craftsmen s arts...are nothing else but knowledge (Plato, 2). Though true, Plato is not
satisfied with Theaetetus definition of knowledge because it fails to address the core meaning of
the word. Plato is interested in understanding the definition of knowledge through conceptual
analysis understanding the minimum requirements for one to have knowledge, and avoiding
circularity in definitions. In order to define knowledge through conceptual analysis, Socrates and
Plato outline the argument as

Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method
Density and SG by Hydrometer Method
Objective
The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of
methylated spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer.
Introduction
Theory
Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water
at a temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the
specific gravity of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement
was taken, especially because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature.
For example, at 15oC the density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its
maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to
refer specific gravity to a temperature and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm.
Hydrometer
The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific
gravity or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with
a small amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright.
The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which
is partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force
which is equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the
hydrometer will sink further, the lower the density of the

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Crisis

these skills. As a result, they develop a sense of either industrious or inferior, competent or

developmental task. It is extremely crucial for the child to receive great support from both
parents, and teachers during this crisis stage. Contrary to this, can cause a negative effect on a

The Causes Of The French Revolution And The French Revolution
The Iranian Revolution occured from 1977 1979, under the rule of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi.
During this time, the Shah made the people very angry due to his actions as ruler. When this
revolution ended, it was a huge turning point in Iran.
The French Revolution began in 1789, due to enlightenment ideas, inspiration from other
revolutions, economic troubles, and religious injustice, among other things. This revolution was a
huge turning point in the history of France. Despite the Iranian Revolution taking place under one

31). If a conversion ratio, rather than a conversion price, is specified, the effective price of stock to
the bondholder may be determined by dividing the par value of the bond by the number of shares
exchangeable for one bond. The conversion price, which is determined when the bonds are 30%,
is usually from 10 to 20 percent above the prevailing market price of the common stock at the
time of issue. Both the issuing form and the investor expect that the market price of the stock will
rise above the conversion price, and that the conversion privilege will then be exercised by most or
all bondholders. The indenture typically includes a call provision so that the issuing firm can force
bondholders to convert. Therefore, it is evident that firms issuing convertible debt

3. Financial Advantages and Disadvantages
3.1 Advantages The use of convertible debt would offer Hamilton advantages over straight debt
or stock issues. Bonds that are convertible into stock are in demand. Therefore, bond buyers are
willing to accept a low stated interest rate on such bonds, to pay a premium and accept a lower
yield, or to accept less restrictive covenants. Hamilton could thus obtain funds at a lower cost than
would be possible if it issued bonds without the conversion privilege. The advantages of a

Critical Analysis on Edwidge Danticat s A Wall of Fire Rising
A Wall of Fire Rising , short story written by Edwidge Danticat, presents one man s desire for the
freedom and also, the gap between reality and fantasy which is created by the desire. Two
different perspectives of evaluating the life bring the conflict between the Guy and Lili who are
parents to the little guy. Throughout the story, the Guy implies that he wants to do something
that people will remind of him, but Lili who is opposing to the Guy, tries to settle the Guy down

Lili answers His heart hurts, (155) Because of the guy feels pity on himself, he considers his
own life as if it is meant for nothing. He does not want to continue with his boring life but, he
desires some excitement or magnificent changes to get involved in his life. To put this simply,
he wants to live freely, the guy has too much burdens on his shoulders, such as he is the one who
need to sacrifice his life to maintain the ordinary life of the family. It was now easier for him to
imagine their son s lips around those breasts than to imagine his anywhere near them. (90) This
phrase implies that the Guy does not feel Lili as a woman but more like little guy s mother. It also
foreshadows that there is not much things that would hold the Guy to stay in the ordinary life.
While the little guy s line from the play ignites the Guy s decision, the hot air balloon is the method
of practicing his dream. The Guy keeps telling his wife that he knows how the balloon flies and it

developing country with an emerging economy. Thus, both countries display both similarities but
mainly differences in their quality of life. Quality of life is the material and nonmaterial indicators
that illustrate a country s standard of living. It is often represented through the quantitative value of
the HDI (Human Development Index). The HDI of Indonesia is 0.681 whilst Australia has the 2nd

Australia, as a more advanced and industrialised country, has a more developed education
system. This is reflected in the mean years of schooling which is 12.6 for Australia, compared to
7.5 years in Indonesia (2013: Human Development Report). This once again is due to the level of
fiscal spending by the government. In Australia, $31.8b is spent on school, vocational and higher
education (2015 16 budget) and this makes up 7.3% of total expenditure. The government thus
has been able to provide a minimum standard of education, primary and secondary. In fact, the
adult literacy rates in Australia are at 100%. However, in Indonesia, although there has been a
large investment in education as it makes up 3.6% of the GPP and 18.1% of total expenditure, the
low tax base due to low per capita incomes means results in fewer funds. The main challenge for
Indonesia is to increase education in the poorer regions were resources are scarcer as currently there
is significant inequality between regions. Furthermore, the government is attempting to improve
the enrolment rate of primary education and secondary education by 2020. Australia s education
system is already well developed

How Does Fatty Acid Contribute To The Production Of Glucose
An individual engaged in vigorous exercise demands much more energy than a sedentary
individual. The supplied energy during a 100 meter sprint or a marathon run comes at a cost,
which is the production of ATP (Hill et al.). At the beginning of exercise the body relies on the
glycogen stores in muscle that aids in ATP production. Eventually, glucose
levels in muscles begin
to decrease as the activity continues, it s also thought that insufficient glucose causes tiredness
(Hill et al.) . Glucose must be provided continuously in order to satisfy one s energy demands.
Consequently, glucose is delivered by blood to the muscles. Fatty acids also contribute to the
process of generating energy when glucose levels are low, which are broken down to

Imperial Japanese Army Responsible For Ww2 Essay
The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall in WWII, as they were too

the Imperial Japanese army. The Imperial Japanese army was responsible for their own downfall
in WWII as they made fatal decisions. First, the Japanese army neglected to routinely change
their codes. American code breakers quickly broke the Japanese code and were able to anticipate
almost all Japanese moves, resulting in many victories for the Allies, such as the Battle of
Midway and the assassination of Admiral Isoruku Tammamoto, and consequently great defeat for

Analysis Of Kuhn s Book On Scientific Research
Kuhn s book on Scientific Research offers a widen view on how the research and approach on
different paradigms varies from one scientist approach to another. It is important to acknowledge
that effective research begins even before the scientific community has acquired answers to most
delicate questions like the: composure of universe, interaction of fundamental entities of this
creation, questions that might be asked and techniques employed to seek answers and solutions to
these questions.
He goes back to the classics of science such as the writings of Aristotle, Ptolemy, Galileo, Newton
etc., where most of the early eighteenth and nineteenth century science had based their research.
That consisted as a ground of intensifying the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although both of them are scientist, here we are confronted with the thought that we as human
beings have our own ideas and we develop them within a circle of people that share the same
thoughts as us. We limit ourselves to other assumptions and ideas and when faced with these
ideas we are restricted to our knowledge to accept an opinion which is different from our own.
Usually we are open to interpret the world around us the way we see it which offers a conform for
us and our surroundings.
Another point that the book addresses best is the observance of existing paradigms from
scientists. Kuhn calls these as anomalies, and when they build up to validate one another, a new
paradigm will emerge and the old paradigm bursts. These shifts are mostly known as scientific
revolutions, which help us realize that the surroundings around us are different from what we are
used to. For example, X Rays were discovered by mistake, attesting that from an anomaly we came
to discover new valuable apparatus that are necessary to the human beings nowadays, this
discovery put scientists to work and understand how X Rays could be used.
The author explains that these anomalies help us understand new theories and adapt to them, but

Prokaryotes And Archaea Similarities
INTRODUCTION
Definitions for Archaea vary, but what is commonly agreed upon is that these are some sort of
micro organisms.
Some argue them to be their own distinct domain, whereas others think they are merely part of the
prokaryotic domain. However many see them as a evolutionary step in between, as prokaryotic
relatives to eukaryotes. (x) Since their evolutionary history remains very unclear, it is hard to
classify them belonging to a group of their own or belonging to either prokaryotes or eukaryotes.
In 1977, Woese suggested dividing cells into three new domains; archaea, eukaryotes and
prokaryotes. (x)
Before this cells were divided into two main groups: prokaryotic cells, and eukaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells have no nucleus or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their structural similarities are the reasoning behind why one might say that they belong to the

SIMILARITIES BETWEEN EUKARYOTES AND ARCHAEA
Though structurally, prokaryotic cells seem more similar to archaea than eukaryotic cells, yet when
one inspects their DNA, similarities between DNA replication, transcription and translation appear.
The DNA polymerase in archaea and eukaryotes are not related to any prokaryotic DNA
polymerase, suggesting that these two are of common origin. Other components used in DNA
replication are similarly only shared between eukaryotes and archaea (y). For example, the promoter
(the part of the DNA that initiates transcription), in archaebacteria has similar sequence and
position to its eukaryotic counterpart (x).
These characteristics were thought to be unique to eukaryotes, yet were found in archaea as well.
When so little is known about the evolutionary history of these organisms that constitute for the
basis of life on earth, categorising them becomes immensely hard.

criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent.
In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between
tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are
indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law
are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a
branch of the civil law legal system.
Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation
and the criminal law.
Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty
that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility.
The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract.
The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the
contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. In tort law, the nature of the
obligation is not agreed between the parties, but arises by virtue

Piece Of Ground
Do We Need to Hear Both Sides of a Story? Hearing or not hearing both sides of a story can cause
major impact on reader s perspectives and opinions. It can be the source of misunderstanding
and false information about the situation of a story. It can also be the main cause of controversy,
especially on topics that many people have strong opinions on and are passionate about. This is
why it is essential to hear both sides of a story to understand the situation. This is because; if
people with strong opinions on a topic read a one sided story, it could result in major controversy.
For example, Elizabeth Laird s book A Little Piece of Ground caused worldwide argument as it is
set in Palestine, talking about the Palestinian Israeli conflict.... Show more content on

While reading A Little Piece of Ground , I found myself almost immediately agreeing with and
being on the Palestinians side because of the perspective of the book. It was only until I heard
an interview talking about this perspective that I started opposing the book and thinking about
other perspectives. It is, at the least, dishonest to portray a political conflict in totally unpolitical
terms, particularly when it s written for kids who can t be assumed to know what the political
context is (National Public Radio, 2018). As mentioned earlier, because the book targets readers
aged ~12 14, the book entices most of its audience to one perspective without the audience even
knowing. After finding this out, I felt tricked and it made me wonder if some of the events in the
book were even similar to what happens in real life. However, it is lucky that this was brought to
my attention, as if it were not, I would still believe that the Israelis were uncaring, killing

Coast Guard Leadership Philosophy
The Leadership Philosophy of Senior Chief Eddie Diaz
Eddie Diaz
Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course #63
I strongly believe everyone is a Leader; we all play an important role in the success or failure of
each other and the Coast Guard. It is my duty as a Coast Guardsman to inspire greatness, develop
a professional workforce, and foster a culture of prosperity poised to overcome today and
tomorrow s challenges, learning from yesterdays successes and failures.
Throughout my career I have been greatly influenced by leaders with remarkable leadership
qualities. A phrase I use often is What do you think . As a young Petty Officer, my supervisor
often used the phrase What do you think . This simplistic phrase was consistently communicated
to me when I asked a question and it assisted me in answering many of my own questions by
leading me to conduct my own research and formulating favorable solutions. My Officer in
Charge at Station Key West was a very caring man, his leadership style and decision making
clearly displayed his commitment to his crew and their families. His ability to connect with each
one of us personally impacted us well passed the traditional military positional leadership model. ...

Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Eating Disorders in Adolescents
Introduction
Eating disorder in adolescents is a source of grave alarm. An effective definition of eating
disorders, as they are evident in school surroundings, describes victim of eating disorder as being
extensively anxious and conscious about food, weight, and body shape. This results in being
engaged in strange eating behaviors (Gowers Bryant Waugh, 2004). This paper seeks to investigate
the effects of eating disorders on adolescent s life and education and comprehensive school based
model of interventions is suggested for the prevention and treatment of this disorder.
The Effect of an Eating Disorder
Two of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and they have
a prospective to effect on the person experiencing this disorder on lasting physical health, social,
emotional, and cognitive development. These disorders can sometimes prove to be a great threat
to life. Many adolescents are forced to postpone their schooling even as they search for treatment.
Therefore this amplifies the likely harmful effects of their situation on their social and cognitive
development. It is very much possible that with the passage of time the condition of eating disorder
will aggravate and it will become more obvious and will ultimately affect their moods and physical
health (Hoek Hoeken, 2003). The imbalanced and inadequate diet affects the adolescent s brains
and cognitive function

Analysis Of The Film Gravity
I want to start by recognizing that in my earlier film papers I have made the mistake of
summarizing all of the science in each of the films from start to finish. By doing so my paper
essentially became a summary of the film rather than an explanation of the science found within it.
To avoid repeating these mistakes I would like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found
interesting in this film, Gravity. The first, and likely most obvious is the conceptof surviving in
space. Second, the concept of floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the
zero gravity atmosphere of space. And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant Kowalski
propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I believe that Isaac Newtons three laws can help me to
explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling film that showed a situation in which astronauts were
stranded in space without a spacecraft or any means of communication. The surviving astronauts
had to fight for their lives in theoretically hardly survivable and unlivable conditions. The main
dilemma, and theme of the entire film, was the destruction of the International Space Station(ISS)
and most of the astronauts on board. Russia launched a missile into space to destroy one of their
satellites. This turned into a problem when the launch was successful, but the target was missed and
the mission failed. Debris was left spiraling through space at a rapid pace. Dr. Ryan Stone survived
the destruction along with

Ambiguity In Emily Bronte s Remembrance
In the poem Remembrance, Emily Bronte writes about a person who mourns the death of a loved
one. Since no names are explicitly given, however, ambiguity surrounds the identity of the speaker
and loved one. One interpretation is that the persona is Bronte herself, having lost her mother and
sisters at a young age. Another interpretation is that the persona is simply a figure through which
Bronte expresses the general experiences of love, loss, and memory. However, after reading the
poem, it is hard to imagine someone crafting such a powerful piece without having personally
experienced something similar. Nevertheless, throughout the poem, the speaker experiences tension
between letting go of and holding onto memories of the past, as shown through... Show more

In the first half of the poem, the speaker mainly seems to be in mourning. However, in the sixth
stanza, the speaker suddenly shifts her tone, focusing on how she has grown from the painful
experience. In fact, the speaker claims to have learned to appreciate life without the aid of joy
(24), which suggests a greater will to live and be present mentally and physically. Despite her
claims, however, in the final stanza, the speaker acknowledges the rapturous pain of remembering
and ends the poem with a rhetorical question: How could I seek the empty world again? (32). This
question seems to resolve the tension between forgetting and remembering by insinuating that she
would rather live with the memories of the past, where she finds

Research Paper On Betty Friedan
Betty Friedan: Women s Rights
Women have virtually the same rights as men. However, the fault needing to be recognized in
today s society is the way that women are treated. Even in simple areas, such as jobs, women are
put on the back burner. A woman is able to become a CEO of a company, nonetheless, she will
struggle twice as hard as a man would. Even as an employee, women are statistically paid less than
men are.
Betty Friedan believed that women should feel and be treated equal to men. Friedan fought for
women to embody their power and worth. She was an activist for the women s rights movement
and a founder of the National Organization for Women(NOW). Her book, The Feminine Mystique,
connected with her readers by illustrating the standards that women were put under for decades. In
the 60 s, women were viewed as nothing but maids and child bearers. Many women were hesitant
to take a stand for this taboo subject; their own rights. Friedan took initiative when everyone else
was afraid to. Betty Friedan s contribution clearly advanced the progression of women s equality.
She accomplished this by writing her famous book, giving a debatable speech, and founding the
National Organization for Women.
Betty Friedan was born in 1921 in Illinois. She attended Smith College and received her degree
in psychology. She graduated at age 21. After having her second child, she lost her job as a
reporter. She felt that her life as a house keeper was not enough for her. Friedan wanted to

The Time of Change
The Time of Change
You can t tax business. Business doesn t pay taxes. It collects taxes. by Ronald Reagan. This
quote really stands out because in this time period there are high taxes. Taxes were one of the big
problems in the progressive era. There were extremely high tariffs and the percentage was
different in other parts in the U.S. During the late 1800s and early 1900s there were reforms done
Economically and Socially . Economically, There were lots of Acts published by Woodrow Wilson
talking about how the consumers pay way too much for taxes. The Underwood Tariff Act of
1913 decreased the tax by ten percent. Woodrow Wilson then enforces tariffs because he wanted
to win the election and people liked him because he was going to do something that the citizens
would like. Socially, there were progressives who didn t like how them and there peers were
being treated because it was disgusting and filled with filth. There air was polluted and there were
diseases spreading every where. Progressives paid and helped the citizens with their living
conditions.
Socially, the U.S. in the 1890 1920s was a time for reform. Due to the slums, health, working
wages this motivated a man named Jacob Riis. He was a muckraker, that being said he would
expose the slums of New York City with horrible and disgusting photographs in newspapers and in
meetings. This attracted many citizens around the world. The images were so graphic that it hit
many people. The health in this time in

Franz Schubert
Life of Franz Schubert.
Franz Peter Schubert (Schubert) is one of the great Austrian composers in the Romantic era. He is
famous for songwriting, which he has written over 600 songs (Burkholder 598). He was born in
1797 in Himmelpfortgrund, the suburbs of Vienna, Austria with the great talent in music (Brown).
His father, Franz Theodor Schubert, was a schoolmaster and an amateur musician. Schubert s father
was teaching music to his own children by himself. Shubert started showing his great music talent
and won a scholarship to study music in a boarding school in Vienna. At the school, he had private
lessons from Antonio Salieri, a composer who is famous for his operas and kept taking lessons
from him even after Schubert left the school due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The work consists of four movements, Allegro, Andante con moto, Scherzo, and Presto. The
subtitle, Death and the Maiden was named after his previous song work, which contains the same
themes as the string quartet. One of the unusual features of this string quartet is that the all
movements are written in minor keys while typical string quartets contain movements in both
major and minor keys. (It modulates into major keys but tonal centres stay in minor keys.) That
must reflect his feeling regarding his hopeless future because of the illness he contracted in the
same year. I chose the second movement of the string quartet to arrange since I found that unusual
feature of the key as stated above, while the second movement of typical string quartets tend to be
written in major key if the first movement is written in a minor key. Besides, the 2nd movement is
written in the form the variation by using the accompaniment of his previous song work Death and
the Maiden (Rothwell). Finally, I arrange the movement for piano solo because it would be to
reach a rather than a string quartet and I would like to show pieces that are written for other
instruments to people who don t have much opportunity to listen to classical chamber music at a

1980s Women s Fashion Research Paper
1980s Women s Fashion
The unique fashion of the 1980s made an impression in its time in such a way that it continues to
make a mark in today s fashion. Historically, each decade comprises a specific style which
identifies the generation. Just by viewing a photograph, one can identify the decade of the persons
photographed just by the fashion being worn. Women s fashion in the 1980s was greatly influenced
by an event that was significant historically, politically, and socially providing popularity of women
s fashion through the lens of one of the most recognizable and admired woman in all time, Princess
Diana.
An event that marked the world historically, politically, and socially was the wedding of Diana
Spencer to Charles Prince of Wales in 1981. The televised wedding was seen by over a billion T.V.
viewers worldwide ( Diana, Princess of Wales influence on fashion ). From that moment the
princess became an international figure, photographed and documented wherever she went, and she

  • 3. Benefits Of Aquatic Therapy For Patients With Low Back Pain if you are suffering chronic back pain being in warm water will cause vasodilation which will help lead blood towards the area of pain.1 Cold water can cause vasoconstriction which will help stop the blood from running to an area of acute injury. A systematic review by Waller , Lambeck , and Daly, composed of 37 aquatic therapy studies with 1007 participants, and picked 7 of those studies and used McGill Pain Questionnaire, Oswestry Disability Index, the number of work days lost from low back pain, and subjective assessment scale for pain to measure the outcomes. The SIGN 50 and PEDro scale assessment forms were used to assess the methodological quality. The results showed that aquatic therapy has a beneficial effect on low back pain, but, is no better than any other intervention.8 This study demonstrated that aquatic therapy can be beneficial for patients with low back pain but are not the only intervention that can help low back pain. A study by Baena Beato, Artero, Arroyo Morales, Robles Fuentes, Gatto Cardia, and Delgado FernГЎndez, study with forty nine participants with low back pain, and split them into three groups active, waiting list, and controlled group. The active group was then split into two months or five times/week. Participants on the waiting list were part of the control group but were offered aquatic therapy after the follow up period of the study. Due to British colonialism for over two hundred years as were used more to British English than to American, Australian or Canadian English. And due to the presence of vernacular languages in our country, English was chosen to be the co official language of the union of India. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, native English speakers often have difficulties understanding them because of the combination of the pronunciation problems listed above and the use of Hindi intonation patterns. (In Hindi emphasis is accomplished by higher pitch rather than by the heavier articulation that typifies English.) The result of this is the sing song effect that English spoken by Hindi learners often has on native English speakers. http://esl.fis.edu/grammar/langdiff/hindi.htm English usage in India ranges from more or less uniform (national variety) to mutually unintelligible varieties. A number of surveys show that Indians prefer to use and learn Indian English. They consider their English as good and proper. Also, empirical evidence shows that in North America, Indian English is more readily understood than even the BBC or British varieties. Five notable phonetic and phonological features of Indian English are as follows: (1) Lack of aspiration in the word initial position: Words such as pin and Kanpur (name of city) are pronounced as pin and kanpur; not as phin and khanpur, respectively; (2) Retroflexion. Alveolar consonants: t, and d are replaced by their corresponding Retroflex consonants (T, D). Therefore, alveolar t and d in the name of the months such as October, September and December are pronounced as OcTober, SepTember, and December; (3) Lack of Interdentals: Words such as thanks and that are pronounced with ... The silence of the company was likely as a result of uncertainty of the firm about the presence of toxic components on the pet food products. The silence was also elicited by the need of the company to lean on the shadows of the several other pet foodmanufacturing firms in the market. The messages that the company offered to the public were mostly directives on the types of products that were to be avoided by the customers. The company s website only bore a picture of a dog crunching delicacy from even in the wake of anger and fear that the pet owners had. (Pallak Babej,2007) The communications were majorly on the recalls of the purchased products. The first recall was made on 16th March 2007.In the announcement the company demanded that the pet owners desist from using products obtained from two of the company s plants. However, the cases of deaths of the pets continued to be reported from customers who obtained their products from Kansas and Emporia plants whose products had initially been restricted. As a result, the company expanded its recall to encompass particular products and specific dates of manufacture of the products (fda.gov). On May 2nd the company continued its recall of the products and included products that were from the plants that had used Chemo Nitra in its manufacturing process. • 6. Pastoring and Parenting Essay The problem with being both a pastor and a parent at the same time is finding and adhering to the distinction between shepherding the church members and being a father to one s children. A distinction must be made between pastoring a church and parenting one s children because of the nature of each responsibility which when combined with the other produces a difficult situation. While being a pastorrequires a caring heart for one s congregation, being a good parent requires a love for one s children that is so deep that caring for anyone else pales in comparison. Problems arise when a pastor cares too much for his congregation or what they think of him and ignores his family in the process. One s family should always come first not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a Pastor s home, these may be only the basics; expectations may be pilled on the pastor s kid (PK) to such an alarming degree that many adults, let alone kids, could not handle the pressure. A PK may be so sheltered that they will have no friends aside from those that are chosen for them. They may not be allowed to go to a public or even Christian school and instead forced to be home schooled in an effort to control who they come in contact with. This desire to have complete control stems from a fear that left to their own devices, a PK will bring public shame to the congregation or scandal to the community (Mickey 22). Usually, when one thinks of a sheltered child it is in a negative way as the earlier examples have shown. However, not all sheltering is bad and within a Pastor s home it may be very necessary for the sake of the family s relationship with each other. The necessity is shown in the following examples. The father may shelter the kids from certain members of the church when said members make unexpected visits to the home. The PK may also be sheltered from certain groups or clubs at church so that they are not made fun of for being the pastor s son or daughter. Those who are outside of the pastor s family may never find it possible to relate to the difficulties faced by the PK and for this reason, a protective barrier is often times needed. As it ... The war of independence was not a lopsided contest with a foregone conclusion; it was, rather, a struggle in which the nation was divided into loyalties and in which the final outcome was not inevitable; it was a revolutionary civil war (Bethell 70). In Brazil independence was in universal agreement between all social classes, since Brazil was only split into two classes, due to their unique system that allows a slave to earn his freedom and make a living. Because of its system of clientele and patronage, the racial and social tension present in Mexico was less severe in Brazil, which is why Mexico had a dissenting agreement on the matter of independence. The support for independence was in concordance from both sides of these social classes of Brazil. Acting with the support of the Brazilian aristocracy, who were anxious to preserve their considerable landholdings from which they exported sugar, coffee, and cotton, and with the backing of the British, who were eager to monopolize the trade with Brazil, the monarch moved to secure Brazil s autonomy (Meade 74). The slave populations as well as the Brazilian aristocracy were in full support of independence, creating a national bond on the subject. Lower class blacks and mulattoes saw independence as a step towards eliminating the racial discrimination that prohibited their appointment to administrative positions (Viotti da Costa 8). • 12. Comparing Icarus And An Essay On Man Faced with the complexity of free will, men will succumb to acting on impulse, which is what lures them to the vices of failure. In the second epistle of An Essay on Man by Alexander Pope, the contradictory nature of mankind is explored through various contrasts. To understand mankind as a whole, one must decipher an individual, in which he will discover that man, by nature, is a paradox. The connotation of the text supports the Enlightenment ideas of understanding the world, as comprehension of man is the heart of the poem. Unsure of purpose or position in the world, mankind is destined to spend their time seeking, but never truly finding. Icarus, by Wendy A. Shaffer, shares the same notion that men are granted an option. However, following... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the method in which this message is presented varies, in relation to how this is to occur. Pope believes that men relate to the common maxim: too much of anything can be a bad thing. Men roam the world with too much knowledge for the skeptic s side, with too much weakness for the stoic s pride (Pope 5, 6). The parallelism proves that knowledge shields men from confusion, and weakness prohibits them from remaining strong willed. Too much of everything is what becomes debilitating. Excerpted from an extensive work, the second epistle of An Essay on Man, is written in a series of heroic couplets with a constant ABAB rhyme scheme. Here, structure and message collide to prove that the only consistency in life is the inconsistency of people. The idea of capricious human nature is paralleled in the image of the melting wings illustrated in Icarus. All trust was placed within the wings that flew Icarus to the sun; however, they abandoned him, shifting the magnitude of his pride to solemnity. The wax that composed his wings seemed such a strong, solid type but . . . melted away when things got hot (Shaffer 5, 7). Like the wings, when a situation becomes hot, people have the tendency to forsake it (Shaffer 7). The perplexity and uncertainty brought forth by life s decisions allocate a fickle lifestyle. This is further supported by the fact that Icarus, was written in a free verse with no rhyme scheme. The lack of structure proves the futility in believing the best of people, and relates to Icarus s reluctance towards obedience. Like Icarus, people will end up doing whatever pleases them to mask their confusion. Thus, it is erratic nature that brings about the human tendency to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The expectation was that the difference lies in the amount of contrast between the highest and lowest amplitude. Sound waves are created when an object vibrates back and forth and they have amplitudes, wavelengths, and frequencies. Sixty songs were analyzed in Audacity, a musicprogram. The recording of Lips Are Moving especially had unusably low Greatest Amplitude readings: 0.20, 0.17, and 0.18 cm. Examining Effectiveness of Treatment Strategies Used With Survivors of Rape Therapy for survivors of rape is often difficult to obtain. The lack of availability of counselors who specialize in specific trauma treatments, like prolonged exposure and cognitive processing therapy, as well as lack of insurance and location, are hardships for treatment seeking individuals. Therefore, it is important to pinpoint the most effective treatments for those who have suffered the trauma of rape. The purpose of this research is to outline the most effective, lasting, and current treatments used to treat female survivors of sexual assault. Modern treatments for rape trauma syndrome include cognitive, behavioral, and exposure components. The specific protocols of cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure have both been demonstrated to be effective in treating posttraumatic stress disorder and common comorbid disorders, like depression, anxiety, guilt, and anger (Resick, Williams, Suvak, Monson, Gradus, 2012, p. 202). Existential therapy, person centered counseling, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing are underlying philosophies and techniques investigated. Strategies Most notable when studying the comparison between the Nazi attack of homosexuals and the Washington DC attack on homosexuals is the similarity of the methods and strategies of oppression. Both movements accelerated their affront on homosexual citizens over time. At the beginning of Nazi Germany, it was only homosexuals in power or homosexuals that were accused of trying to convert people to homosexuality that were punished heavily, then as the movement progressed, anyone suspected of being homosexual was sent to a concentration camp. Similarly, the Lavender Scare escalated from only openly homosexual people being suspected to full on police raids and interrogation. As the two movements got a foothold in their respective countries, they became increasingly fanatical. Before their respective anti homosexual movements, Washington DC and Berlin both had thriving gay and lesbian communities with social outlets and general acceptance, but as time went on, the two societies turned hostile to homosexuals with the prodding of the leaders of the two movements. • 18. Roy Lichtenstein Drowning Girl Roy Lichtenstein (October 27, 1923 September 29, 1997) was one of the most innovative artists towards the end of the 20th century. He helped originate modern day Pop Art, and his first pieces of work were all based off of comic strips, advertisements, etc. that mimicked the indecency that newspaper reproductions had for printing. These artworks altered the history of modern art and created a new, American feel and view to the way art was seen as. Lichtenstein s success was through all of his time, focus, and energy that was put into his creations, and he went on to create more than 5,000 paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, murals and other objects after his peak in the 1960s. Lichtenstein s piece Drowning Girl (1963) was an oil and synthetic polymer paint on canvas (171.6 x 169.5 cm). He based this painting off of Run for Love!, the melodramatic lead story in DC Comics Secret Love #83 (1962), to portray a different message than the actual comic. We have to evacuate the town immediately! shouted the mayor. Everyone suddenly went quiet, all eyes on the mayor. Then suddenly there was a loud BANG! And the sound of glass shattering made everyone turn and look towards the door. Then we realized what was happening. The deadly zombies had made it to Leedey and were now invading the building! I grabbed my three closest friends and we all looked at each other frantically with no idea what to do. I noticed an air vent just about big enough for me to fit in it. We all climbed in the small, dingy, vent and crawled around until we found an opening going to the outside of the building. After we checked to make sure the coast was clear, we crawled out and tried not to panic while trying to figure out what to do next. We spotted some four wheelers parked on the side of the building and all quickly jumped on one. The first thing we decided to do is to go get our sisters, who were at the school. Knowledge Defined as Justified True Belief In Plato s Theaetetus, the dialog between Socrates and his student, Theaetetus, sets up the argument that knowledge is true belief that is adequately justified. Although there are many examples that prove Plato s suggestion, people such as Edmund Gettier have questioned and disproved the notion of knowledge as justified true belief. In response to Gettier s findings, many have tried to modify or find an alternative to the Justified True Belief model in search for the true definition of knowledge. In this paper, I will outline and discuss Plato s Justified True Belief argument, outline and discuss Gettier s response to Plato s argument, and lastly, present and analyze four solutions to the Gettier problems. 1. Plato s Justified True Belief In Plato s Theaetetus, Socrates starts his discussion by asking Theaetetus to define the word knowledge. In response to Socrates question, Theaetetus responds by saying, geometry...cobblery, and other craftsmen s arts...are nothing else but knowledge (Plato, 2). Though true, Plato is not satisfied with Theaetetus definition of knowledge because it fails to address the core meaning of the word. Plato is interested in understanding the definition of knowledge through conceptual analysis understanding the minimum requirements for one to have knowledge, and avoiding circularity in definitions. In order to define knowledge through conceptual analysis, Socrates and Plato outline the argument as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method Density and SG by Hydrometer Method Objective The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of methylated spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer. Introduction Theory Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water at a temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the specific gravity of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement was taken, especially because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature. For example, at 15oC the density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to refer specific gravity to a temperature and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm. Hydrometer The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific gravity or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with a small amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright. The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which is partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force which is equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the hydrometer will sink further, the lower the density of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If a conversion ratio, rather than a conversion price, is specified, the effective price of stock to the bondholder may be determined by dividing the par value of the bond by the number of shares exchangeable for one bond. The conversion price, which is determined when the bonds are 30%, is usually from 10 to 20 percent above the prevailing market price of the common stock at the time of issue. Both the issuing form and the investor expect that the market price of the stock will rise above the conversion price, and that the conversion privilege will then be exercised by most or all bondholders. The indenture typically includes a call provision so that the issuing firm can force bondholders to convert. Usually we are open to interpret the world around us the way we see it which offers a conform for us and our surroundings. Another point that the book addresses best is the observance of existing paradigms from scientists. Kuhn calls these as anomalies, and when they build up to validate one another, a new paradigm will emerge and the old paradigm bursts. • 43. The Law Of Obligation And The Criminal Law The English system law has been described as a common law rather than a civil law system. To begin with, there is a significant difference between the civil and criminal law. On the one hand, the purpose of the civil law will be to settle disputes between private s parties. On the other hand, criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent. In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a branch of the civil law legal system. Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation and the criminal law. Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility. The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract. The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. In tort law, the nature of the obligation is not agreed between the parties, but arises by virtue ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Piece Of Ground Do We Need to Hear Both Sides of a Story? Hearing or not hearing both sides of a story can cause major impact on reader s perspectives and opinions. It can be the source of misunderstanding and false information about the situation of a story. It can also be the main cause of controversy, especially on topics that many people have strong opinions on and are passionate about. This is why it is essential to hear both sides of a story to understand the situation. This is because; if people with strong opinions on a topic read a one sided story, it could result in major controversy. For example, Elizabeth Laird s book A Little Piece of Ground caused worldwide argument as it is set in Palestine, talking about the Palestinian Israeli conflict.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While reading A Little Piece of Ground , I found myself almost immediately agreeing with and being on the Palestinians side because of the perspective of the book. It was only until I heard an interview talking about this perspective that I started opposing the book and thinking about other perspectives. It is, at the least, dishonest to portray a political conflict in totally unpolitical terms, particularly when it s written for kids who can t be assumed to know what the political context is (National Public Radio, 2018). As mentioned earlier, because the book targets readers aged ~12 14, the book entices most of its audience to one perspective without the audience even knowing. After finding this out, I felt tricked and it made me wonder if some of the events in the book were even similar to what happens in real life. However, it is lucky that this was brought to my attention, as if it were not, I would still believe that the Israelis were uncaring, killing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coast Guard Leadership Philosophy The Leadership Philosophy of Senior Chief Eddie Diaz Eddie Diaz Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Leadership Course #63 I strongly believe everyone is a Leader; we all play an important role in the success or failure of each other and the Coast Guard. It is my duty as a Coast Guardsman to inspire greatness, develop a professional workforce, and foster a culture of prosperity poised to overcome today and tomorrow s challenges, learning from yesterdays successes and failures. Throughout my career I have been greatly influenced by leaders with remarkable leadership qualities. A phrase I use often is What do you think . As a young Petty Officer, my supervisor often used the phrase What do you think . This simplistic phrase was consistently communicated to me when I asked a question and it assisted me in answering many of my own questions by leading me to conduct my own research and formulating favorable solutions. • 46. Eating Disorders in Adolescents Eating Disorders in Adolescents Eating Disorders in Adolescents Introduction Eating disorder in adolescents is a source of grave alarm. An effective definition of eating disorders, as they are evident in school surroundings, describes victim of eating disorder as being extensively anxious and conscious about food, weight, and body shape. This results in being engaged in strange eating behaviors (Gowers Bryant Waugh, 2004). This paper seeks to investigate the effects of eating disorders on adolescent s life and education and comprehensive school based model of interventions is suggested for the prevention and treatment of this disorder. The Effect of an Eating Disorder Two of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and they have a prospective to effect on the person experiencing this disorder on lasting physical health, social, emotional, and cognitive development. These disorders can sometimes prove to be a great threat to life. Many adolescents are forced to postpone their schooling even as they search for treatment. Therefore this amplifies the likely harmful effects of their situation on their social and cognitive development. It is very much possible that with the passage of time the condition of eating disorder will aggravate and it will become more obvious and will ultimately affect their moods and physical health (Hoek Hoeken, 2003). The imbalanced and inadequate diet affects the adolescent s brains and cognitive function ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of The Film Gravity I want to start by recognizing that in my earlier film papers I have made the mistake of summarizing all of the science in each of the films from start to finish. By doing so my paper essentially became a summary of the film rather than an explanation of the science found within it. To avoid repeating these mistakes I would like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found interesting in this film, Gravity. The first, and likely most obvious is the conceptof surviving in space. Second, the concept of floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the zero gravity atmosphere of space. And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant Kowalski propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I believe that Isaac Newtons three laws can help me to explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling film that showed a situation in which astronauts were stranded in space without a spacecraft or any means of communication. The surviving astronauts had to fight for their lives in theoretically hardly survivable and unlivable conditions. The main dilemma, and theme of the entire film, was the destruction of the International Space Station(ISS) and most of the astronauts on board. Russia launched a missile into space to destroy one of their satellites. This turned into a problem when the launch was successful, but the target was missed and the mission failed. Debris was left spiraling through space at a rapid pace. Dr. Ryan Stone survived the destruction along with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Ambiguity In Emily Bronte s Remembrance In the poem Remembrance, Emily Bronte writes about a person who mourns the death of a loved one. Since no names are explicitly given, however, ambiguity surrounds the identity of the speaker and loved one. One interpretation is that the persona is Bronte herself, having lost her mother and sisters at a young age. Another interpretation is that the persona is simply a figure through which Bronte expresses the general experiences of love, loss, and memory. However, after reading the poem, it is hard to imagine someone crafting such a powerful piece without having personally experienced something similar. Nevertheless, throughout the poem, the speaker experiences tension between letting go of and holding onto memories of the past, as shown through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the first half of the poem, the speaker mainly seems to be in mourning. However, in the sixth stanza, the speaker suddenly shifts her tone, focusing on how she has grown from the painful experience. In fact, the speaker claims to have learned to appreciate life without the aid of joy (24), which suggests a greater will to live and be present mentally and physically. Despite her claims, however, in the final stanza, the speaker acknowledges the rapturous pain of remembering and ends the poem with a rhetorical question: How could I seek the empty world again? (32). This question seems to resolve the tension between forgetting and remembering by insinuating that she would rather live with the memories of the past, where she finds ... • 50. Research Paper On Betty Friedan Betty Friedan: Women s Rights Women have virtually the same rights as men. However, the fault needing to be recognized in today s society is the way that women are treated. Even in simple areas, such as jobs, women are put on the back burner. A woman is able to become a CEO of a company, nonetheless, she will struggle twice as hard as a man would. Even as an employee, women are statistically paid less than men are. Betty Friedan believed that women should feel and be treated equal to men. Friedan fought for women to embody their power and worth. She was an activist for the women s rights movement and a founder of the National Organization for Women(NOW). Her book, The Feminine Mystique, connected with her readers by illustrating the standards that women were put under for decades. In the 60 s, women were viewed as nothing but maids and child bearers. Many women were hesitant to take a stand for this taboo subject; their own rights. Friedan took initiative when everyone else was afraid to. Betty Friedan s contribution clearly advanced the progression of women s equality. She accomplished this by writing her famous book, giving a debatable speech, and founding the National Organization for Women. Betty Friedan was born in 1921 in Illinois. She attended Smith College and received her degree in psychology. She graduated at age 21. After having her second child, she lost her job as a reporter. She felt that her life as a house keeper was not enough for her. Friedan wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Time of Change The Time of Change You can t tax business. Business doesn t pay taxes. It collects taxes. by Ronald Reagan. This quote really stands out because in this time period there are high taxes. Taxes were one of the big problems in the progressive era. There were extremely high tariffs and the percentage was different in other parts in the U.S. During the late 1800s and early 1900s there were reforms done Economically and Socially . Economically, There were lots of Acts published by Woodrow Wilson talking about how the consumers pay way too much for taxes. The Underwood Tariff Act of 1913 decreased the tax by ten percent. Woodrow Wilson then enforces tariffs because he wanted to win the election and people liked him because he was going to do something that the citizens would like. Socially, there were progressives who didn t like how them and there peers were being treated because it was disgusting and filled with filth. There air was polluted and there were diseases spreading every where. Progressives paid and helped the citizens with their living conditions. Socially, the U.S. in the 1890 1920s was a time for reform. Due to the slums, health, working wages this motivated a man named Jacob Riis. The subtitle, Death and the Maiden was named after his previous song work, which contains the same themes as the string quartet. One of the unusual features of this string quartet is that the all movements are written in minor keys while typical string quartets contain movements in both major and minor keys. (It modulates into major keys but tonal centres stay in minor keys.) That must reflect his feeling regarding his hopeless future because of the illness he contracted in the same year. I chose the second movement of the string quartet to arrange since I found that unusual feature of the key as stated above, while the second movement of typical string quartets tend to be written in major key if the first movement is written in a minor key. Besides, the 2nd movement is written in the form the variation by using the accompaniment of his previous song work Death and the Maiden (Rothwell).
