Triplem s Mindful Activities
Out Come
The students at ASMS find being able to pick your own mindful activity a great way to take a break
and sit back and relax from the stress that is surrounding them. Triple M stands for music, movement
and mindfulness. Music and movement both fit into mindfulness. Breaking down general topics into
those 3 areas. Triple M is about moving yourself away from other things, focusing on the activity. The
Triple M program was brought into the school by Lauren (a teacher) who would go out and split
students into group and colour in or play foot ball or listen to music. Triple M started in only one or
two learning studies as a part of a well being program. Caroline (a teacher) started to build up what
Lauren started into a larger program to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Focusing on the present moment internal and external experience broadens attention and allows for
suspension of previously practiced patterns of reacting (anticipation or over engagement), sometimes
called decentering (KQED, 2016). The practice of mindfulness with curiosity and acceptance
strengthens tolerance for distress by altering automatic response patterns described previously. When
practiced regularly, mindfulness can provide a powerful tool for restoring emotional balance and
preventing engagement in harmful behavior (Charlotte Twizell,

I Appreciate Barbour s Praiseworthy And Toilsome Effort
III. Critique First of all, I appreciate Barbour s praiseworthy and toilsome effort to put theology and
science in a meaningful and fruitful dialogue, by seriously taking account of both continuities and
discontinuities between scientific metaphors and religious metaphors. For Barbour, because both
disciplines have continuities and discontinuities they can contribute to our more comprehensive
understanding of the reality of our experiences in the world through their metaphorical relationship.
While scientific models, theories, and paradigms are focused on the explanation of natural
phenomena, the religious counterparts are more focused on the human experience of their
natural/social environments and evoking moral and attitudinal responses, while religious affirmations
do not exclude truth claims like the scientific claims do. Also, like religion, scientists also hold on to
their traditions in their observation and interpretation of natural phenomena; hence, they are not
neutral. In that sense, I agree with Barbour that science and religion bear significant similitude, while
they can complement each other in our holistic understanding of our world. It seems to me that this is
well supported by Peacocke s concept of ontological monism. In our evolutionary understanding of
the world, we could contend with Peacocke that All concrete particulars in the world including human
beings with all of their properties are constituted only of fundamental physical

Granovetter Weak Ties Analysis
Granovetter highlights weak ties by stating that weak ties are best when it comes to the collection of
information and resources that do not fit your normal or desired behaviors. For example, if you wish
to gain insight into new job opportunities you would go to your weak ties. This is because as your
weak ties, these people are not obligated to tell you things that will reaffirm or make you feel good
about your current standing in the world because they are not invested in to your personal feelings,
only the matter at hand. Meaning that they do not see any double meanings in your questions as a
strong tie would. To clarify when asked as person that is slightly removed from you immediate agents
of socialization, weak ties offer an opinion they draw on their own contacts that will have little or no

This ultimately enhances your life outcomes and your ability to participate in social activism. This
would be considered a positive effect weak ties. However, this is not the only function that weak ties
serve as member of an individual s social world. Weak ties can also serve as a gatekeepers to negative
social situations. This can often be observed in friend groups where one member of the group does not
have any strong or weak tie reinforcements to push them toward excepted positive behaviors like a
new job. In most cases this is not how the situation is evaluated by the person in question because they
have mistook an ingroup of strong ties as weak ties. This is common in may juvenile cases where one
young man dies not tell the truth or his minor involvement. Wherein

How Did Louis Jacques Thenard Make Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound that is composed of two hydrogens and two oxygens.
This mixture is known to be the simplest type of peroxide, and it is used as an oxidizer, a bleaching
agent and an antiseptic. Louis Jacques Thenard was the first to identify hydrogen peroxide in 1818.
Jacques Thenard discovered this when he burned barium salts to make barium peroxide, and he
observed that when he poured the barium peroxide in water to dissolve, hydrogen peroxide was
produced. After this observation, Jacques Thenard improved his method for so many years and was
considered to be the most common way of creating hydrogen peroxide up until the mid twentieth
century. As a result, there were numerous amount of formulas made. However, Petre

Summary Of Chronic Illness By Liz Shaw-Stabler
Patient doctor relationships may be strained and antagonistic for those with lupus. This is because the
physician s experience varies from the lived experience by the patients. It is common for patients with
chronic diseases to struggle to appear as credible patients to their physicians, thus, patients with lupus
may use different strategies to receive treatment for their undiagnosed chronic pain (Class notes:
Chronic Illness ppt, 2016). Patients with lupus may experience a power differential with their
physicians because of their medical knowledge. Most patient doctor relationships of those with
chronic illnesses are mutual. This is when the physician offers advice and technical information but
allows the patient to have full participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shaw Stabler has battled systematic lupus for several years, enduring serious side effects, such as
kidney failure, along the way. In her narrative, Live with the Wolf and Surviving Lupus, she provides
optimistic views to patients struggling with lupus. She does this by encouraging lupus patients to keep
the faith and continue the fight, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 14). She goes onto explain that communication
with one s body is key when dealing with a chronic diseases such as lupus. This is because you can
only take action once you know what your body is trying to communicate with you. For Shaw Stabler,
she began to listen to her body is 1978. This is when she discovered that she had lupus. The author
acknowledges the fact that having lupus is hard; Too often our disabilities are invisible, and in our
culture, if one isn t missing a limb or an eye or even bleeding visibly, they are not seen as being
disabled, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 16). This maintains the notion that those with chronic diseases do not fit
the sick role clearly. The sick role is defined as social expectations regarding how society should view
sick people and how sick people should behave (Class notes: Social Meanings of Illness ppt

How Did George Orwell Influence Imperialism
Best distinguished by his cautionary novels on the rise of communism, George Orwell was frequently
influenced by his upbringing, careers, and experiences fighting fascism. Born Eric Arthur Blair,
George Orwell was born in British India to a family he would later famously described as lower upper
middle class . Academically inclined, he was able to obtain a scholarship to St. Cyprian s, one of the
best preparatory schools in England, although he often showed loathing towards the strict policies and
teachers at the school. However, in the later years of school his academic interest slipped and with it
his grades. With little options George Orwell joined the Indian imperial police and was sent to Burma.
His time in Burma had a profound effect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Shooting an Elephant, Orwell introduces the reality of a country, such as England, whose
expansionist doctrine results in the suppression and mistreatment of the native inhabitants in their
colonies. The short story is narrated by a British police officer stationed in Burma, a British occupied
territory. The story begins with an acknowledgement of the horrible conditions in which the Burmese
people live and the officer describes his own hatred towards Britain for causing such a state, The
wretched prisoners huddling in the stinking cages of the lock ups, the grey, cowed faces of the long
term convicts, the scarred buttocks of the men who had been flogged with bamboos (Orwell). By
having a British officer admit the flaws in Britain s imperial system, Orwell is telling his readers that
the system of imperialism is so cruel that even those who reap the benefits of imperialism don t
approve of it. Through this Orwell points out the double sided nature of the imperial system, This
paradox governs the of the men who serve the system. Their power is based on conventional action.
Loyalty cannot be demanded it has to be force. (De Lange 4). In result, Orwell is showing that there is
no good side to imperialism, the idea of colonizing and increasing the wealth of one s home country
might seem noble, but

The Psychological Dimension of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The...
The Psychological Dimension of The Birthmark
This essay will analyze Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark in order to demonstrate that it is a
psychological short story both in its themes and in its emphasis on the moral psychological aspect of
the main characters.
There is probably unanimity among literary critics that Hawthorne is a psychological writer. Consider
some of their statements chosen at random from various critiques of Hawthorne s literary works:
Stanley T. Williams in Hawthorne s Puritan Mind says:
What he wrote of New England was . . . .the subconscious mind of New England. It was. . . .
unforgettable case histories of men and women afflicted by guilt, or, as he called it, by a stain ... Show

The theme is the general concept or doctrine, whether implicit or asserted, which an imaginative work
is designed to incorporate and make persuasive to the reader (Abrams 170). Morse Peckham in The
Development of Hawthorne s Romanticism explains what he interprets Hawthorne s main theme to be
in his short stories: Henceforth Hawthorne s theme is the redemption of the self through the
acceptance and exploitation of what society terms the guilt of the individual but which to the
Romantic is society s guilt (92). This psychological theme is very much present in The Birthmark.
Georgiana feels guilt because of the curious hand shaped birthmark on her cheek; Ayler feels guilt
because of his failed experiemnts both early in life and later, including the killing of Georgiana;
Aminadab experiences guilt from the loathful expressions which his master uses in reference to the
servant.
But is guilt the main theme? Clarice Swisher comments: When Hawthorne called his stories romances,
he meant that they belong within the romantic movement that . . . . emphasize imagination and
personal freedom (18). Where does this personal freedom lead in TheBirthmark except to the
alienation of Aylmer from his wife in her death? He is already alienated from Aminadab, who
chuckles when he sees Georgiana dying and Aylmer s experiment failing. Is alienation the more
dominant theme? Hyatt Waggoner in Nathaniel Hawthorne states:
Alienation is perhaps the theme he

The Issue Of Asylum Seekers Has Been Considered As One
The issue of Asylum seekers has been considered as one of the controversial issues in Australia due to
the implementation of the Federal governments harsh and stringent policy against boat refugees, who
flee from their countries because of violence or persecution. It is stated that this hard line approach
aims to curb the influx of illegal immigrants thereby making Australian Immigration System credible
and strong (Anderson Iggulden 2016). According to Refugee Convention 1954, Australia, a signatory
under United Nation(UN) Refugee Agency, is regarded as one of the generous country in dealing with
the protection and rights of refugees and has created a meritorious history of accepting asylum seekers

Besides this, it also meant to analyze and scrutinize people whether they are following an orderly
queue or not (Cox 2015).
However, it is argued that that as one of the signatories of the Refugee Convention to the United
Nation (UN), Australia has a moral obligation to protect the human rights of all asylum seekers,
despite the reasons for their arrival and whether they arrive with or without a valid visa (Australian
Human Rights Commission 2015). Hence it is clear that being a signatory of Refugee Convention
Laws, the opposition has a legal commitment to guarantee the safety of asylum seekers. Another point
worth noting is that when compared to the resettlement of refugees in Australia (57,362) to other
countries, the top10 countries hosting refugees were in third world countries ; Turkey (2.5 million),
Pakistan(1.6 million) ,Lebanon(1.1 million)and the remaining countries were in Africa. It is noticeable
that, the resettled refugees accounted for about.99% of the global total of 14 million people and
Australia has ranked 26th overall and 46th in terms of GDP (ABC News 2016).
Some people believe that asylum seekers are jumping out of the queue to come to Australia to seek
asylum. However, it is truly a misconception that the people seeking asylum are queue jumpers. It is
necessary to point that there is no orderly queue to the resettlement of refugees. Only a

New York City became a major focal point for Puerto Rican migration. Between 1951 and 1957 the
average annual migration from Puerto Rico to New York was over 48,000. Many settled in East
Harlem, located in upper Manhattan between 116th and 145th streets, east of Central Park. Because of
its high Latino population, the district soon came to be known as Spanish Harlem. (Green). Pretty
interesting! Beings that I am in Manhattan myself as well as my parents.
The religion that we call our own is the Catholic religion. In addition to the holy days observed by the
Catholic church, Puerto Ricans celebrate several other days that hold particular significance for them
as a people. For instance, El Dia de las Candelarias, or candlemas, is observed annually on the evening
of February 2; people build a massive bonfire around which they drink and dance and chant ¡Viva las
candelarias! or Long live the flames! And each December 27 is El Dia de los Innocentes or the Day of
the Children. On that day Puerto Rican men dress as women and women dress as men; the community
then celebrates as one large group. (Green)
Many Puerto Rican customs revolve around the ritual significance of food and drink. As in other
Latino cultures, it is considered an insult to turn down a drink offered by a friend or stranger. It is also
customary for Puerto Ricans to offer food to any guest, whether invited or

Genre Exposed In The End Of Science Fiction
Through the science fiction genre we are able to see what is wrong with the world. The genre shows
us the truth about what is going on around us. Stories are inspired by the chaos around us. Shedding
light to situations that need to be exposed. The truth lays in between the lines of the stories. The
science fiction stories answer questions about life and how we are living it and where those decisions
we make might lead us to. Examples come from many stories that lead to societies being controlled
and having no freedom to be individuals. Stories are set in futuristic time settings were anything is
possible. Thanks to those ideas, people out in the real world take those fake or impossible things that
are written and turn them into reality. The science fiction genre is a stepping stone for all in life. We as
a race gain so much by the words written in those books. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

world or even other authors so all types of genre have a common correlation because they have taken
inspiration from the same things as other writers. For example romance and stories around love are all
the same sappy story except the names and the place they might be. Other genres that have been
played out are stories about heroes. In every story that hero must overcome a huge obstacle and must
prepare for some huge event and in the end the hero always wins. So many genres can be listed as
dead because as time goes by the more stories are written and there s less to be written about. Less

The Owner Of The Restaurant
Before leaving home for Rutgers, I was a fry cook at a burger restaurant. The usual pace was slightly
overwhelming and all my co workers had 2+ years of experience with the company. One night, about
two months after I started working there, it was so incredibly busy that the line of customers measured
out the door. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeño poppers and
dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager and head cook all rolled their eyes at
me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up to throw them away, I noticed someone
else s hand helping. I looked up inquisitively and found Ralph Flannery s eyes, the owner of the
restaurant, who owned a handful of the same restaurant chain in several other locations. After we
cleaned up, he asked me to go to his office when things calmed down. I went to his office expecting to
turn in my name tag. Ralph looked calm and cheery, which put me at a wearisome ease. He started by
explaining how cheap and worthless a box of jalapeño poppers were to him. Then Ralph transitioned
to how expensive but valuable his employees were and finished by personalizing it with how
important I am to him and his company s success. I was left speechless because this was a new
experience to me. I sat there curious about what he had to say next. He said to me, Jacob, what if I
invest in you? Would you invest in me? How about I give you a fifty cent raise right now... I

The Problem Of Crime Rate
Abstract
Crime is a big problem in the world. Many believe that nothing can be done to prevent it. The crime
rates are increasing rapidly all around the world. Crime is not easy to completely remove from our
society. For many years Scientist and psychologists have argued over whether upbringing forms of a
child s behavior or whether they are born with a personality disorder, or could it be the way their brain
is set up or their body type? Society may never really know all the causes of this criminal behavior.
With all the disagreement going on with the subject on the causes of criminals , the controversial
question would be Are criminals born, or made?
There are so many reasons behind the increased crime rate. I believe to figure out why the crime rate
is rapidly increasing, it is important to figure out the main cause and treat it. With proper measures
like straight laws, sufficient punishments, good moral and education, we may be able to avoid the
crimes to a certain extent.
In today society, crime rate is increasingly on the rise. The crimes that are being caused are stealing,
poverty, desperation, kidnap, rape, robbery, physical fighting, substance abuse, and many other crimes
that are not mentioned. For many years it has been said that a person s parents are the root to make the
person they become as an adult. A child s role model would mainly be their parents, but as a person s
age and grows older. They start to have other influence in their lives. Such as

The Association Of The National Rifle Association
The National Rifle Association, also known as the NRA, is a nonprofit organization founded in 1871
with the original goal to promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis. Additionally, there
was a heavy focus of proper shooting sports among America s youth. It featured multiple shooting
programs and developed ranges for members to use and train. Through the use of their magazine The
American Rifleman members of the NRA were informed regarding firearm bills. With the passage of
the National Firearms Act of 1934, the NRA formed the Legislative Affairs Division (LAD). The early
days of the LAD were not to lobby directly. The purpose of the LAD was to encourage members to
proceed with their own action to combat the infringement of Second Amendment Rights by mailing
legislative facts and analysis to members.
However, in 1975, the NRA recognized the need for political defense of the Second Amendment and
formed the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA). In addition to the protection of the Second
Amendment, education was a key initiative for the NRA by providing certification for law
enforcement officials and the general public. With regards to the general public, the NRA continues to
be the leader in firearms education. The NRA offers courses to instruct and train individual gun

Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period
Female Italian Artists of the Baroque Period Many male artists during the Baroque Period were
tremendously successful having received many commissions from a multitude of rich patrons. Their
equally talented female counterparts were not as accepted in the male dominated society. Although
equally talented, the patriarchal mentality of the times ensured a difficult road for some in the artistic
world. The more prominent female artists such as Artemisia Gentileschi, Lavinia Fontana and Orsola
Maddalena Caccia had the advantage of having fathers who were prodigious artists themselves and
provided the training required for them to flourish as great virtuosos in their own right. I will show
and explain some of their known works.
Artemisia Gentileschi was a very talented albeit restricted female artist during the Italian Baroque
period. She was born in Rome on July 8, 1593, to Orazio Gentileschi and Prudentia Montoni. Her
father, Orazio, was a great and highly sought after artist for his work in frescoes, altarpieces and
portraits. A most notable patron was Pope Paul V. Orazio was surprised at his daughter s talent for
painting and ensured that he gave her the proper training. She has also had the distinct advantage of
being surrounded by a variety of local and foreign artists. As young as twelve years old, Artemisia was
able to expertly grind and mix her father s pigments and assist him in small commissions. Her first
known dated painting was Susanna and the Elders, completed

The walls of the shaft violently shuddered, the ground shook, rocks tumbled and a deep rumbling

The day my sweet daughter gifted me with that bear will forever be embedded in my memory. It all

eventually ended up doing. She said that she did not really notice a response after using the flush. She
said that she has not noticed any drainage. There has not been any discharge, no bleeding, but now is

The Relationship Between Csr Disclosures And Corporate...
Introduction Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as the corporate initiatives taken by the
company which take responsibility to its stakeholders (Tricker, 2012). Over the years, most of the
public listed companies are moving away from shareholders oriented to stakeholders oriented. This
might be because they realised that it was no longer enough to focus on financial performance alone to
enhance business sustainability and credibility. The companies with stakeholder perception believe
that the CSR practices has a positive impact on their Corporate Financial Performance (CFP) and
reputation. Although the CSR disclosures is a legal requirement in some countries, the company has
become increasingly willing to disclose CSR practices in their annual report. The rapid increase in
CSR disclosures raises the question of what is the rationale behind CSR disclosure (Dhaliwal et al,
2011). What benefits does a company gain by engaging in CSR and discloses them in the annual
report? This paper will examine the relationship between CSR disclosures and corporate performance
by using academic literature. The corporate performance is focused on the financial profitability of the
company.
Previous Studies
The relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosures and corporate
performance is controversial. Many prior studies (Solomon Solomon, 2003; Dhaliwal et al, 2011;

Reflection On The Lense Of Faith
We are told to follow the things that set our souls on fire. pressured to find something that brings us
more joy than anything else. We are barred at a young age with the responsibility of finding our
calling before we even know what it is. As a 15 year old girl, I didn t know where to find this fire or
even where to find my calling in the world. I was convinced one didn t exist, I was convinced that it
was me against the world. It was me against the 7 billion screaming people trying to find their footing,
and I felt like I didn t have a voice loud enough or feet big enough to ever do this. I felt like the world
was suffocating me and there was never going to be a chance for another breath of air. All I could
understand from the world, was we live, we suffer, we grow old and we die.
Through the lens of conformity, one blinded by worldly desires, it is incredible how much we cannot
see, and surprising how much we can see. But when we open our hearts and put on a lens of faith we
can slowly begin to see what has been in front of us all along. For me, this was a world full of light,
peace, and pure joy.
I first put on a lense of faith on May 14, 2016, my 16th birthday, when I first read the Book of
Mormon and went to church. I was later baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 19, 2017.
I was born on Mother s Day of 2000. My parents would tell you that I was a force of nature, one they
often feared to recon with.

1) Source 1 is revealed to be a personal letter to Marie Antoinette from her mother, the Archduchess of
Austria. It explicitly states that after the dismissal of two ministers, the general public no longer praise

A Brief Note On The Computerized Patient Record System Essay
Introduction Assessment
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) operates one of the largest nationwide healthcare systems.
(Tsai, 2012). In 1998 the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) was released at a national
level. (Lovis, 2011). CPRS has been made possible because of the extensive set of clinical and
administrative application within VistA.
VistA is the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture. It is VA s Health
Information Technology (IT) system. It provides an integrated inpatient and outpatient electronic
health record for VA patients, and administrative tools to help VA deliver quality medical care to
Veterans. (Lovis, 2011). CPRS organizes and presents all relevant data on a patient to support clinical
decision making. It allows clinicians to interact with the patient s data, add problems, notes and enter
orders. It supports alerts, notification and guidelines. (Lovis, 2011). The adaption of VistA to CPRS,
the new addition to this was My HealtheVet portal. My HealtheVet is a secure website. The VA
follows strict security policies and practices to make sure that your personal health information is safe
and protected. The My HealtheVet Program is based on the core belief that knowledgeable patients are
better able to make informed healthcare choices, stay healthy, and seek services when needed. The
primary goal of the Program is to support veterans as empowered healthcare consumers with

The Movie The Shawshank Redemption
This paper examines the relationship between the major motion picture, The Shawshank Redemption s
(Darabont, 1994), main character, Andy Dufresne, and the first two andragogy assumptions of
Malcolm S. Knowles (1980). Knowles assumptions are affirmed but also rebutted from other scholars
throughout the document as Andy s actions are described and connected to the plot of the movie.
Adult Learning in the Shawshank Redemption Malcolm Knowles professed the importance of an adult
s life experiences and the close connection to the learning process (Knowles, 1980). Life experience
adds an additional layer of resources the adult learner may draw upon when presented with new
learning opportunities. When life experiences are integrated into a self directed learner, substantial
learning can occur. Andy Dufresne, the main character in the motion picture, The Shawshank
Redemption (Darabont, 1994), experienced an evolution of adult learning as he was imprisoned for a
crime he did not commit. During his nineteen years in the Shawshank Prison, Andy, an exceptionally
intelligent banker, continued to possess an independent self concept as he adapted and transformed his
learning, self directing his own escape.
Knowles Assumptions and Rebuttals
One of the six assumptions from Malcolm Knowles theory on adult learning stated the following, 1.
As a person matures, his or her self concept moves from that of a dependent personality toward one of
a self directing human being (Merriam,

spirit of wisdom. She never had a consort or lover, therefore, she is known as virgin Athena. She was
the goddess of justice, wisdom, and protector and arts and literature. Her symbol is the owl which
represents her wisdom. Athena was very unique in many different ways than other greek goddesses.
The goddess Athena was not birthed by any women. According to The Encyclopedia of the Goddess

The owl was a known representation of Athena s wisdom, knowledge, and inner light. The owl was to
illuminate Athena s blind side and allowing her to seek the entire truth. Owls were widely associated
with Athena s blessings, and Greek soldiers viewed the sight of owls before a battle as a symbol that
the goddess was on their side. According to William Justus Raup from The tales of an Upstate NY
birder, The Owl became associated with Athena because, the light that reflects off their eyes in the
dark gave the appearance of an inner light or Wisdom and this is the most likely cause, a particular
species of Owl was common on top of the Acropolis of Athens. Since that hilltop was dedicated to
Athena, the Greeks took the fact that there were so many owls present as them being sacred to Athena.
As a result, the Owl and Athena have been linked and the Owl has come to represent Wisdom in many
later cultures. The owl of Athena represented her very

England s Influence On Normandy
Although England s monarchy has played a prominent role throughout its history, its very first
monarch was actually a conqueror from another land. King William began his journey in Normandy, a
region that is current day France. Sometime during the year of 1028, he was born in Falaise, France to
Arlette (also known as Herleva), a tanner s daughter, and Robert I, the Duke of Normandy. As an
illegitimate son of his father, he was known as William the Bastard among his enemies and critics. He
eventually rose to power through his conquest of England, and all throughout history his descendants
held the English throne. William the Conqueror married Matilda of Flanders as an assurance of an
alliance, and they had 4 sons, one of which died at an early age. William s son, Robert, would become

He was also able to persuade the Pope to back him, because the Pope was outraged that Harold had
sworn on his precious holy relics and didn t keep his word. With the power of holy influence and 700

enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a Norwegian duke,
who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet William s troops in a final
battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In September 1066, the Normans
(France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged into battle. Due to the inefficiency
of warfare during this era, none of the soldiers could see their leaders, who were feared dead on
multiple occasions. Duke William finally turned the tide of battle by yelling out and rallying his
troops, and the battle was won when King Harold was shot in the eye. At long last, William the
Conqueror had gotten his crown, and was now the ruler of

The Death Penalty In The United States
The death penalty is an issue that has the United States divided. The death penalty is a controversial
problem in law that has become a popular debate among politicians due to its economical and ethical
issues. While there are many who encourage it, there is also a huge amount of those who are against it,
including myself. I believe the death penalty should be illegal throughout the country. There are many
reasons why I presume this. The debates against the death penalty are mainly moral in their character
that it is wrong to kill and when the state kills it sends out the wrong message to the rest of the
country. The death penalty should not be legal in the United States because putting the criminal in

that the patient and wife be educated about wound healing. Secondary intention healing will be
applied with negative pressure wound healing to advance the ulcer to a level of healing with the
knowledge that the diagnosis of a stage III ulcer cannot be reversed to a lesser stage. Three factors that
will be discussed to avoid will be lying on the affected area, moisture to the area, and factors that
contribute to infection. Included in the teaching will be the importance of proper nutrition, such as

Pressure ulcers are classified from stage I through IV depending on the depth and damage to the
tissue, there are also unstageable and deep tissue injuries (McCance Huether, 2014).
The patient has been identified with a stage III pressure ulcer which means there is full thickness skin
loss involving damage or necrosis of subcutaneous tissue that may extend to, but not through,
underlying fascia (McCance Huether, 2014, p 1625). The goal of treatment will be to stop the
progression to a stage IV ulcer and heal the current stage III pressure ulcer while minimizing pain and
infection.
Wound Healing
Harper, Young, and McNaught, (2014) explain the four distinct phases of wound healing that are
identified as hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation and tissue remodeling. Hemostasis is the body s
response to prevent exsanguinations; thusly, the cascading response to injury causes constriction of
blood vessels but if continued, leads to tissue hypoxia and acidosis. The next stage of healing is
inflammation. This stage is a result of cells that inhibit and prevent infection and once the resulting
threat of infection is gone, inflammation will subside. Prolonged inflammation can lead to chronic
wound formation. The next stage of healing is proliferation which consists of angiogenesis, formation
of granulation tissue, collagen deposition, epitheliazation and wound retraction. It is during this stage
the extracellular matrix is laid down forming

Compare And Contrast A Christmas Carol Book And Book
When people want to watch a movie that is based on a book, they usually read the book first. Well,
why on earth do they do that? Well, see sometimes even though they have the same plot, sometimes
things can be changed. Whether it being for entertainment purposes, or to make the film shorter or
longer, things usually will be changed when creating a movie inspired by a book. People probably
have a few titles come to mind when they think about this, but a good example is A Christmas Carol

Marketing Activities, Tools And Strategies
Founded less than 2 years ago with a small band of 30 exceptionally talented young people, the Never
Settle motto of the Chinese startup company called Oneplus popped into the headlines of tech
magazines by creating an amazing flagship killer handset dubbed Oneplus One. Few even heard of its
name back then and now, you will find long queues like that of Apple and Samsung, such that it had to
create an invite system, amping up the demand and a whole new secondary market of reselling invites.
How did it manage to sell over 1 million sets in just 18 months, with a gross revenue of $300 million
(as of 2014) and serving over 35 countries including whole of Europe with almost no marketing
budget? The powerhouse behind its galloping growth lies in its effective marketing and risk control
and this essay will discuss the key marketing activities, tools and strategies a company uses to build its
repute, and in this context, as a premium smartphone manufacturer.
According to AMA (2013), Marketing is defined as the activity, set of institutions, and processes for
creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients,
partners, and society at large. It manages conveying the right item, to the right individuals at the right
cost and at the ideal time.
Marketing is the link that connect customers with the organisation as it is the only department who

The Splintered Old Bench Essay
The Splintered Old Bench
No one will find me. I ll have hidden myself well. I part the green curtain as I walk, armed only with a
camera, pen and paper, and a book. Behind me, the overgrown foliage and gnarled roots weave
themselves back together, concealing the path I have taken. A passerby will overlook my refuge and
dismiss it as just another place that nature has reclaimed from the materialistic world. A smile creeps
across my face as I anticipate my long sought solitude. I will be safe; no one will seek me here. I will

Yet, despite the splinters, the bench has not fallen apart or rotted. A bench with this exquisite view of
Penobscot Bay would not let splinters faze it.
Creeping to the edge of the rock ledge, I am overwhelmed by the frightening height. Although the path
leading up to my refuge is obscured from view, the land in front of the bench is barren rock, opening
out onto a large expanse of sky. Squinting in the sunlight, my eyes follow an osprey soaring free over
the water. I inhale deeply, letting the refreshing salt air rush through my lungs and clear my head. I
peer over the edge, and watch the receding tide far below. From my perch, I witness the emergence of
a whole new world from the depths of the ocean. Rocks, seaweed, barnacles, and tide pools appear
from nowhere, bringing sea life with it. The soft waves lap against the rocks, singing in harmony with
the cool breeze that drifts through the trees, gently rustling the leaves.
Dizzy from the height, I retreat to the safety of the bench. Settling myself, I relax, my worries draining
away. I slip my sandals off and let my toes bathe in the sunlight.
There is always sunlight up here. Because of the height, the bench and the rocks capture the first and
last rays of sun. Toward dusk, the glare off the water is blinding, but now, in the early morning, I
welcome the sun, rejoicing as it chases the fog and the remaining stars

Essay about Comparing The Epic of Gilgamesh with The Odyssey
The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Odyssey both are held in high respect by literature analysts and
historians alike for the characterization of the hero and his companion, the imagery brought to mind
when one of them is read, and the impressive length in relation to the time period it was written in.
The similarities that these two epics share do not end with only those three; in fact, the comparability
of these works extend to even the information on the author and the archetypes used. However, The
Odyssey and The Epic of Gilgamesh contrast from one another in their writing styles, character
details, and main ideas. Both epics weave together a story of a lost man who must find his way, but the
path of their stories contrast from one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these two epics, the major themes are the concept of good versus evil and the conflicts of man
versus man, man versus self, and man versus nature. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the King of Uruk
represented good while Humbaba and the snake represented evil. Compared to The Odyssey, the
Sumerian epic consists of a smaller representation for both good and evil. Odysseus represented good,
but so does his son, Athena, and many of the gods that help him. Antinous, the rest of the suitors,
Polyphemus, Circe, as well as many others were on the evil side of the equation for this epic. The
concept of good versus evil coincides with the conflict of both man versus man and man versus self.
Odysseus and Gilgamesh both engaged in both types of conflict, but Gilgamesh experienced more of
the latter conflict while Odysseus experienced more of the former. Odysseus s adventures involved
more of man versus man conflicts because of how often he had to fight a physical being. For example,
Odysseus and his men blinded Polyphemus by ramming a hot spear deep into his [Polyphemus] crater
eye (qtd. in Prentice Hall Lit. 992). In addition, Odysseus and his son, Telemachus, had to fight off
more than a hundred suitors near the end of the epic. Gilgamesh had plenty of experiences with man
versus man conflict, such as his first fight with Enkidu, his fight with Humbaba, as well as his
arguments with the gods. However, the man versus self conflict seemed

Interactionism, Conflict Theory, And Theoretic Perspectives
Theoretic perspectives have been used for years now to try and explain why people behave and
interact with others, the way they do. Three common perspectives that are used are structural
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Structural functionalism is a theory that
sociologists use to describe human behavior by studying different institutions and how they correlate
with one another and function together within a society. The structural functionalism can be explained
using the human body for example. The body is made up of many organs, and each of these organs
play a specific role. When the organs (which portray different institutions) operate successfully, they

An Introduction To Private Health Insurance
INTRO
Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has
played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of the
Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health insurance
is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the Private Health
Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act, and the policies
they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and regulation of the
industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges.
Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were
used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management
practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the
interconnectedness of all management aspects. It can be difficult for leaders to identify the exact
problem, the cause of the problem and what relevant information (within the available abundance) is
relevant and could be used to address problems (Maznevski, 2007). This study aims to analyse the
issues and problems faced by HealthCo and provide potential solutions and recommendations to
enhance management and business success.

Gymnastics was a big part of my life and I was very excited when I got my first complicated skill it
had taken me about 2 years to get the skill. It was Saturday and my day started off by eating some
breakfast, my mom had made pancakes and bacon and they were delicious. I finished off my breakfast
and my dad told me to go get ready because we were going to run some errands and so I did, I picked
out this red shirt with free shoulder it was kind of big on me so, it looked like a dress but I liked it that
way, to go with the long red shirt. I picked out some black tights because they seemed comfy. On my
hair, I did a half up half down with a bun at the top and I got my favorite brown sandals and put them
on. Before my family left I had to do my bed, because my dad said, if I kept my room clean all year I
would be able to get a new phone, I cleaned my bed and rushed out the door. When my family and I
were in the car, my dad started singing and I was cringing so hard but, I didn t tell him anything
because that would be rude. We stopped at Winco to get groceries. My brother was excited because
whenever we went to the grocery store he would get a bar of candy. This time it wasn t any different,
we bought the food and went to pay my job was always to put the groceries into the bags which is fun.
We headed into the car and my parents loaded the groceries into the trunk. We started driving into the
mall, so I could buy some shorts for summer, because all I had were pants. We

Integration Of Proxy Model With Enkf Algorithms For Time...
Methodology
This section contains the mathematical background and stepwise procedure for EnKF algorithm, KL
expansion and ANN based proxy model. Integration of proxy model with EnKF algorithms for time
efficient assisted history matching is also explained in this section. Ensemble Kalman Filter Algorithm
EnKF is a Monte Carlo data assimilation method, which has gained popularity over recent years for
assisted history matching due to its ability to include available observations sequentially in time.
Aanonsen et al. (2009) reviewed the application of EnKF in reservoir engineering for estimation of
reservoir parameters. EnKF procedure utilizes an ensemble of model states (e.g. realizations of
reservoir properties such as porosity and permeability) to estimate the covariance matrices used in
model updating process. Initial ensemble is generated based on the prior knowledge of the reservoir
derived from various sources as well logs, core and seismic analysis. In general, simulation techniques
such as Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) and Sequential Indicator Simulation (SIS) are used to
generate multiple realizations. These realizations are consistent with the initial state of the reservoir. In
the next step, all the reservoir models in ensemble are forwarded typically using the numerical
reservoir simulation. Mean and covariance of predicted model states is calculated and used in turn to
calculate Kalman gain. Next, in the update (or analysis) step, each geological

Benefits Of Small Town Living
Growing up in a very little town in Illinois was a lot different than growing up in Houston, Texas.
When I was in the fourth grade I found many things to have changed about my surroundings, I
currently lived in a place where, the people thought and acted differently. I know now reading about it
and understanding more that some of those changes were for the good and some were not. Small town
living has its advantages such as, very close friendships, close approximately to may things, and
friendly people. Looking back, I also realized that there were a lot of disadvantages such as lack of
transportation, affects of a poor education, no opportunities for growth, crime, no diversity, and low
paying jobs and housing. Now that I am older, and aware of the affects of living in a small town, I can
see how these many things affected my life and will continue affect it in the future. I grew up, the
majority of my live, in a town in central Illinois, Kincaid, or better known as South Fork because of
the co op with the schools around us in sports. This town is approximately 20 miles southeast of
Springfield, and is only seven miles west from the nearest town, with many opportunities that my
town did not offer (City data).
With a total population of 1,495, including the town of Tovey about a mile away, as of July 1, 2015
Kincaid is ranked as number 587 of 1,367 as being a small town in Illinois (Kincaid, IL). Kincaid is
only about 0.62 square miles in land areas, and is located in

Who Is Walter Lee Younger Anti Hero
By definition a hero is a person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding
achievements, or noble qualities. So what is an Anti Hero? An anti hero is a noble and courageous
man much like a hero, but he is selfish and cruel. As readers, we attach ourselves to the anti hero
because we want to see the good in everyone. Walter Lee Younger in the play, A Raisin in the Sun by
Lorraine Hansberry is an anti hero because of his narcissistic traits, nobility as he evolved, and his
passion that drove the action of the play.
Walter Lee Younger exhibits many characteristics of an anti hero including his egotistical thought
process. In the first Act of A Raisin in the Sun, Walter shows his selfishness by giving Travis

Case Study Examination And Ethical Questions
Case Study Examination and Ethical Questions Fraud in financial statements is one of the most
common types of financial fraud committed by organizations. Tactics are utilized to inflate or deflate
revenues and expenses to arrive at the desired financial position of executives of the business. Fraud,
however, is not something derived from years of experience. As is the case of ZZZZ Best, the
perpetrator of fraud in the case of this organization was its 15 year old owner, Barry Minkow.
Case Study: ZZZZ Best
Mr. Minkow started his carpet cleaning business at a young age of 15 years. He held aspirations of
becoming a millionaire. Such aspirations led to Mr. Minkow masterminding a level of corporate fraud
that propelled him to being labeled a wonder boy on Wall Street and the lavish lifestyle he craved
(Mintz Morris, 2014). Mr. Minkow was so successful in concealing his fraud, auditors failed to detect
them when reviewing financial statements. That is until one individual, a former customer, unraveled
his years of deception.
The ZZZZ Best case was such that management set out to conceal the fraud from the Securities and
Exchange Commission, their clients and investors, and the auditors engaged to conduct the audits of
their public financial statements. The foremost question is, should said auditors be held accountable
for their failures in cases where management goes to excessive lengths to purposely conceal such
fraudulent activities from the auditors. The

  • 2. Triplem s Mindful Activities Out Come The students at ASMS find being able to pick your own mindful activity a great way to take a break and sit back and relax from the stress that is surrounding them. Triple M stands for music, movement and mindfulness. Music and movement both fit into mindfulness. Breaking down general topics into those 3 areas. Triple M is about moving yourself away from other things, focusing on the activity. The Triple M program was brought into the school by Lauren (a teacher) who would go out and split students into group and colour in or play foot ball or listen to music. Triple M started in only one or two learning studies as a part of a well being program. Caroline (a teacher) started to build up what Lauren started into a larger program to ... Focusing on the present moment internal and external experience broadens attention and allows for suspension of previously practiced patterns of reacting (anticipation or over engagement), sometimes called decentering (KQED, 2016). The practice of mindfulness with curiosity and acceptance strengthens tolerance for distress by altering automatic response patterns described previously. When practiced regularly, mindfulness can provide a powerful tool for restoring emotional balance and preventing engagement in harmful behavior (Charlotte Twizell, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. I Appreciate Barbour s Praiseworthy And Toilsome Effort III. Critique First of all, I appreciate Barbour s praiseworthy and toilsome effort to put theology and science in a meaningful and fruitful dialogue, by seriously taking account of both continuities and discontinuities between scientific metaphors and religious metaphors. For Barbour, because both disciplines have continuities and discontinuities they can contribute to our more comprehensive understanding of the reality of our experiences in the world through their metaphorical relationship. While scientific models, theories, and paradigms are focused on the explanation of natural phenomena, the religious counterparts are more focused on the human experience of their natural/social environments and evoking moral and attitudinal responses, while religious affirmations do not exclude truth claims like the scientific claims do. Also, like religion, scientists also hold on to their traditions in their observation and interpretation of natural phenomena; hence, they are not neutral. In that sense, I agree with Barbour that science and religion bear significant similitude, while they can complement each other in our holistic understanding of our world. It seems to me that this is well supported by Peacocke s concept of ontological monism. In our evolutionary understanding of the world, we could contend with Peacocke that All concrete particulars in the world including human beings with all of their properties are constituted only of fundamental physical ... • 4. Granovetter Weak Ties Analysis Granovetter highlights weak ties by stating that weak ties are best when it comes to the collection of information and resources that do not fit your normal or desired behaviors. For example, if you wish to gain insight into new job opportunities you would go to your weak ties. This is because as your weak ties, these people are not obligated to tell you things that will reaffirm or make you feel good about your current standing in the world because they are not invested in to your personal feelings, only the matter at hand. Meaning that they do not see any double meanings in your questions as a strong tie would. To clarify when asked as person that is slightly removed from you immediate agents of socialization, weak ties offer an opinion they draw on their own contacts that will have little or no relation to yours and therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ultimately enhances your life outcomes and your ability to participate in social activism. This would be considered a positive effect weak ties. • 6. Summary Of Chronic Illness By Liz Shaw-Stabler Patient doctor relationships may be strained and antagonistic for those with lupus. This is because the physician s experience varies from the lived experience by the patients. It is common for patients with chronic diseases to struggle to appear as credible patients to their physicians, thus, patients with lupus may use different strategies to receive treatment for their undiagnosed chronic pain (Class notes: Chronic Illness ppt, 2016). Patients with lupus may experience a power differential with their physicians because of their medical knowledge. Most patient doctor relationships of those with chronic illnesses are mutual. Shaw Stabler has battled systematic lupus for several years, enduring serious side effects, such as kidney failure, along the way. In her narrative, Live with the Wolf and Surviving Lupus, she provides optimistic views to patients struggling with lupus. She does this by encouraging lupus patients to keep the faith and continue the fight, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 14). She goes onto explain that communication with one s body is key when dealing with a chronic diseases such as lupus. This is because you can only take action once you know what your body is trying to communicate with you. For Shaw Stabler, she began to listen to her body is 1978. This is when she discovered that she had lupus. The author acknowledges the fact that having lupus is hard; Too often our disabilities are invisible, and in our culture, if one isn t missing a limb or an eye or even bleeding visibly, they are not seen as being disabled, (Shaw Stabler, 2010 16). This maintains the notion that those with chronic diseases do not fit the sick role clearly. How Did George Orwell Influence Imperialism Best distinguished by his cautionary novels on the rise of communism, George Orwell was frequently influenced by his upbringing, careers, and experiences fighting fascism. Born Eric Arthur Blair, George Orwell was born in British India to a family he would later famously described as lower upper middle class . Academically inclined, he was able to obtain a scholarship to St. Cyprian s, one of the best preparatory schools in England, although he often showed loathing towards the strict policies and teachers at the school. However, in the later years of school his academic interest slipped and with it his grades. With little options George Orwell joined the Indian imperial police and was sent to Burma. In Shooting an Elephant, Orwell introduces the reality of a country, such as England, whose expansionist doctrine results in the suppression and mistreatment of the native inhabitants in their colonies. The short story is narrated by a British police officer stationed in Burma, a British occupied territory. The story begins with an acknowledgement of the horrible conditions in which the Burmese people live and the officer describes his own hatred towards Britain for causing such a state, The wretched prisoners huddling in the stinking cages of the lock ups, the grey, cowed faces of the long term convicts, the scarred buttocks of the men who had been flogged with bamboos (Orwell). By having a British officer admit the flaws in Britain s imperial system, Orwell is telling his readers that the system of imperialism is so cruel that even those who reap the benefits of imperialism don t approve of it. Through this Orwell points out the double sided nature of the imperial system, This paradox governs the of the men who serve the system. Their power is based on conventional action. Loyalty cannot be demanded it has to be force. (De Lange 4). In result, Orwell is showing that there is no good side to imperialism, the idea of colonizing and increasing the wealth of one s home country might seem noble, but ... • 8. The Psychological Dimension of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The... The Psychological Dimension of The Birthmark This essay will analyze Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark in order to demonstrate that it is a psychological short story both in its themes and in its emphasis on the moral psychological aspect of the main characters. There is probably unanimity among literary critics that Hawthorne is a psychological writer. Consider some of their statements chosen at random from various critiques of Hawthorne s literary works: Stanley T. Williams in Hawthorne s Puritan Mind says: What he wrote of New England was . . . .the subconscious mind of New England. The theme is the general concept or doctrine, whether implicit or asserted, which an imaginative work is designed to incorporate and make persuasive to the reader (Abrams 170). Morse Peckham in The Development of Hawthorne s Romanticism explains what he interprets Hawthorne s main theme to be in his short stories: Henceforth Hawthorne s theme is the redemption of the self through the acceptance and exploitation of what society terms the guilt of the individual but which to the Romantic is society s guilt (92). This psychological theme is very much present in The Birthmark. Georgiana feels guilt because of the curious hand shaped birthmark on her cheek; Ayler feels guilt because of his failed experiemnts both early in life and later, including the killing of Georgiana; Aminadab experiences guilt from the loathful expressions which his master uses in reference to the servant. But is guilt the main theme? Clarice Swisher comments: When Hawthorne called his stories romances, he meant that they belong within the romantic movement that . . . . emphasize imagination and personal freedom (18). Where does this personal freedom lead in TheBirthmark except to the alienation of Aylmer from his wife in her death? He is already alienated from Aminadab, who chuckles when he sees Georgiana dying and Aylmer s experiment failing. Is alienation the more dominant theme? Hence it is clear that being a signatory of Refugee Convention Laws, the opposition has a legal commitment to guarantee the safety of asylum seekers. As I frantically tossed food into hot grease, I fumbled with a box of jalapeño poppers and dropped all of them on the floor. The cashiers, general manager and head cook all rolled their eyes at me and shuffled past the mess. As I started to pick them up to throw them away, I noticed someone else s hand helping. Introduction Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is defined as the corporate initiatives taken by the company which take responsibility to its stakeholders (Tricker, 2012). Over the years, most of the public listed companies are moving away from shareholders oriented to stakeholders oriented. This might be because they realised that it was no longer enough to focus on financial performance alone to enhance business sustainability and credibility. The companies with stakeholder perception believe that the CSR practices has a positive impact on their Corporate Financial Performance (CFP) and reputation. Although the CSR disclosures is a legal requirement in some countries, the company has become increasingly willing to disclose CSR practices in their annual report. The rapid increase in CSR disclosures raises the question of what is the rationale behind CSR disclosure (Dhaliwal et al, 2011). What benefits does a company gain by engaging in CSR and discloses them in the annual report? This paper will examine the relationship between CSR disclosures and corporate performance by using academic literature. The corporate performance is focused on the financial profitability of the company. (Tsai, 2012). In 1998 the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) was released at a national level. (Lovis, 2011). CPRS has been made possible because of the extensive set of clinical and administrative application within VistA. VistA is the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture. It is VA s Health Information Technology (IT) system. • 25. The Movie The Shawshank Redemption This paper examines the relationship between the major motion picture, The Shawshank Redemption s (Darabont, 1994), main character, Andy Dufresne, and the first two andragogy assumptions of Malcolm S. Knowles (1980). Knowles assumptions are affirmed but also rebutted from other scholars throughout the document as Andy s actions are described and connected to the plot of the movie. Adult Learning in the Shawshank Redemption Malcolm Knowles professed the importance of an adult s life experiences and the close connection to the learning process (Knowles, 1980). Life experience adds an additional layer of resources the adult learner may draw upon when presented with new learning opportunities. When life experiences are integrated into a self directed learner, substantial learning can occur. Andy Dufresne, the main character in the motion picture, The Shawshank Redemption (Darabont, 1994), experienced an evolution of adult learning as he was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. During his nineteen years in the Shawshank Prison, Andy, an exceptionally intelligent banker, continued to possess an independent self concept as he adapted and transformed his learning, self directing his own escape. Knowles Assumptions and Rebuttals One of the six assumptions from Malcolm Knowles theory on adult learning stated the following, 1. As a person matures, his or her self concept moves from that of a dependent personality toward one of a self directing human being (Merriam, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

King William began his journey in Normandy, a region that is current day France. Fortunately for the enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a Norwegian duke, who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet William s troops in a final battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In September 1066, the Normans (France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged into battle. Hemostasis is the body s response to prevent exsanguinations; thusly, the cascading response to injury causes constriction of blood vessels but if continued, leads to tissue hypoxia and acidosis. The next stage of healing is inflammation. This stage is a result of cells that inhibit and prevent infection and once the resulting threat of infection is gone, inflammation will subside. Prolonged inflammation can lead to chronic wound formation. The next stage of healing is proliferation which consists of angiogenesis, formation of granulation tissue, collagen deposition, epitheliazation and wound retraction. • 36. Essay about Comparing The Epic of Gilgamesh with The Odyssey The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Odyssey both are held in high respect by literature analysts and historians alike for the characterization of the hero and his companion, the imagery brought to mind when one of them is read, and the impressive length in relation to the time period it was written in. The similarities that these two epics share do not end with only those three; in fact, the comparability of these works extend to even the information on the author and the archetypes used. In these two epics, the major themes are the concept of good versus evil and the conflicts of man versus man, man versus self, and man versus nature. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the King of Uruk represented good while Humbaba and the snake represented evil. Compared to The Odyssey, the Sumerian epic consists of a smaller representation for both good and evil. Odysseus represented good, but so does his son, Athena, and many of the gods that help him. Antinous, the rest of the suitors, Polyphemus, Circe, as well as many others were on the evil side of the equation for this epic. The concept of good versus evil coincides with the conflict of both man versus man and man versus self. Odysseus and Gilgamesh both engaged in both types of conflict, but Gilgamesh experienced more of the latter conflict while Odysseus experienced more of the former. Odysseus s adventures involved more of man versus man conflicts because of how often he had to fight a physical being. For example, Odysseus and his men blinded Polyphemus by ramming a hot spear deep into his [Polyphemus] crater eye (qtd. in Prentice Hall Lit. 992). In addition, Odysseus and his son, Telemachus, had to fight off more than a hundred suitors near the end of the epic. An Introduction To Private Health Insurance INTRO Private health Insurance is a $1.42 billion (before tax) industry in Australia (Seah, 2012) and has played a prominent role in the country s health system for over 60 years. As of 2009, 51per cent of the Australian population was covered by some form of private health insurance. Private health insurance is a regulated industry; this means it is controlled by government legislation under the Private Health Insurance Act (2007). Private health insurers are required to register under this Act, and the policies they sell must adhere to these regulations (Shamsullah, 2011). Due to the size and regulation of the industry managers in the sector may face many complex challenges. Complex management has been around for thousands of years. Basic management tools that were used in the past have formed the foundations of the theories that have shaped today s management practices. One of the major challenges in today s organisational environments is the interconnectedness of all management aspects. It can be difficult for leaders to identify the exact problem, the cause of the problem and what relevant information (within the available abundance) is relevant and could be used to address problems (Maznevski, 2007). Methodology This section contains the mathematical background and stepwise procedure for EnKF algorithm, KL expansion and ANN based proxy model. Integration of proxy model with EnKF algorithms for time efficient assisted history matching is also explained in this section. Ensemble Kalman Filter Algorithm EnKF is a Monte Carlo data assimilation method, which has gained popularity over recent years for assisted history matching due to its ability to include available observations sequentially in time. Aanonsen et al. (2009) reviewed the application of EnKF in reservoir engineering for estimation of reservoir parameters. EnKF procedure utilizes an ensemble of model states (e.g. realizations of reservoir properties such as porosity and permeability) to estimate the covariance matrices used in model updating process. Initial ensemble is generated based on the prior knowledge of the reservoir derived from various sources as well logs, core and seismic analysis. In general, simulation techniques such as Sequential Gaussian Simulation (SGS) and Sequential Indicator Simulation (SIS) are used to generate multiple realizations. These realizations are consistent with the initial state of the reservoir. In the next step, all the reservoir models in ensemble are forwarded typically using the numerical reservoir simulation. Mean and covariance of predicted model states is calculated and used in turn to calculate Kalman gain. Next, in the update (or analysis) step, each geological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Case Study Examination And Ethical Questions Case Study Examination and Ethical Questions Fraud in financial statements is one of the most common types of financial fraud committed by organizations. Tactics are utilized to inflate or deflate revenues and expenses to arrive at the desired financial position of executives of the business. Fraud, however, is not something derived from years of experience. As is the case of ZZZZ Best, the perpetrator of fraud in the case of this organization was its 15 year old owner, Barry Minkow. Case Study: ZZZZ Best Mr. Minkow started his carpet cleaning business at a young age of 15 years. He held aspirations of becoming a millionaire. Such aspirations led to Mr. Minkow masterminding a level of corporate fraud that propelled him to being labeled a wonder boy on Wall Street and the lavish lifestyle he craved (Mintz Morris, 2014). Mr. Minkow was so successful in concealing his fraud, auditors failed to detect them when reviewing financial statements. That is until one individual, a former customer, unraveled his years of deception. The ZZZZ Best case was such that management set out to conceal the fraud from the Securities and Exchange Commission, their clients and investors, and the auditors engaged to conduct the audits of their public financial statements. The foremost question is, should said auditors be held accountable for their failures in cases where management goes to excessive lengths to purposely conceal such fraudulent activities from the auditors.
