This document introduces new features for virtual challenges on the RunSignup platform, including milestones, badges, teams, goals and activity types. It describes how milestones allow participants to track intermediate progress towards goals, and unlock badges. Badges can be default or custom designs. Goals provide progress bars and teams allow groups to compete together. The platform also supports various activity types and custom types for unique challenges. These features aim to make virtual challenges more engaging for participants.

When setting up your Challenge, you have the option
to Enable Team Results.
This will add a new Team Leaderboard and will total
up the Distance/Tallies of all members of each Team.

17. Offering Goals
You can set Goals which give Participants the ability to track
their progress better. A Progress Bar will show on the results
page indicating how close someone is to achieving their Goal.
This helps keep people motivated to push that progress bar
further and further!

You can even upload a map file to show progress towards a Goal represented as
a pin on that map.

Participants will be interacting with your Event page
constantly as they log their Activities, and they’re more
motivated to log thanks to having personal Goals.

25. Milestones
Milestones are a way of tracking intermediate progress towards a
Goal. There are a few different types of Milestones that you can
add any number of to your Challenge Events.
You are able to add these types of Milestones for both
Participants and Teams.
▷ Fixed - Unlock a Milestone at a set Distance.
▷ Repeating - Unlock a Milestone every X Miles Run.
▷ Percentage - Unlock a Milestone at 50% progress towards a
Goal.
▷ Each of these can be added based on Distance/Elev. Gain,
or Custom Tally.

26. For a “Run the length of New Jersey” Event, have Milestones for each
of the different towns you pass by.
For a “Climb Mount Everest” Event have Milestones that represent
each base camps elevation gain.
For a “Hot Dog Eating Contest” Event have Milestones generated for
every 10 hot dogs eaten, representing a 10 pack of hot dogs.
For a “Do 1000 activities in the month of August” Event, have
Milestones generated when Participants reach 50% of the Goal that
they have set for their “Run” activities.

29. Upcoming Milestone Features
We aren’t finished with Milestones yet - there’s a lot more we have
planned and in development!
▷ Automatic email notifications - Soon you will be able to
customize notifications for Milestones so Participants can be
notified when they unlock a new one.
▷ Milestone Certificates - You will be able to upload a large image
to display on the Milestone Page.
▷ Milestone Certificate Designer - You will be able to add in data
elements to the Certificates to display total mileage and other
data.
▷ Milestones based on total time - Grant Milestones for every X
minutes of activity.

31. Badges
As we all know, participants absolutely love medals! The
bigger and fancier the better!
Badges are generated for each Milestone Achieved, and
display on the Milestone Page and the Trophy Case.
You have the option to use our default Badges or design
your own and upload them as Custom Badges.
Our default Badges will display the total
distance/tally/elevation gain within each Badge.
