Mihai Eminescu was a late Romantic poet and the most influential Romanian poet. Some of his most famous poems include "Evening Star", "Ode in ancient meter", and the five "Epistles/Satires". He was active in the Junime literary society and served as editor of Timpul, the official newspaper of the Conservative Party. Eminescu was born in Botoșani, Moldavia in 1850 to an aristocratic Romanian family and spent his early life there and in Ipotești. He attended school in Cernăuți and began his writing career in 1866 while still a student. Throughout his life he continued writing and publishing poems while also working as a clerk
