Migrant farm workers move around to different areas based on crop seasons and have very difficult living and working conditions. They often live in poor housing without basic amenities and work long hours in unsafe conditions for low pay. Cesar Chavez, who grew up in a farm working family, fought to organize farm workers and advocate for their rights and better treatment through nonviolent protests and unionization efforts. Over time, conditions have improved with programs and laws supporting things like safe drinking water, bathroom access, higher wages, and shorter work days.
