READING GOALS
• Learn strategies for reading informational
text, taking notes, and studying
• Read closely to determine what the text
says explicitly and make logical inferences
• Summarize the key supporting details and
ideas and incorporate Islamic perspective
• Analyze how and why individuals, events,
and ideas develop and interact over the
course of a text through an Islamic lens
READING GOALS
• Determine central ideas or themes of a
text and analyze their development in
light of Quran and hadith
• Analyze the structure of text including
sentence structure, word choice, tone,
and syntax
• Assess how point of view shapes content
and style
• Analyze how two or more text address
the same theme and evaluate diverse
media formats
• Develop and strengthen writing
by brainstorming, outlining,
writing, revising, proofreading
and publishing
• Utilize technology in the writing
process
• Conduct short focused research
projects by gathering relevant
information as well as more
prolonged ones with focused

• Follow rules for collegial discussions,
track progress toward specific goals
and deadlines, and define
