In the last couple years we change the way our backend systems function (Cloud Computing) and the way consume our front end interfaces (Mobility, the Internet of thing). It is safe to say that the technology changes we are now experiencing – will revolutionize the way we consume technology.
But the described changes are being held back, and mostly because of information security. The root cause of the slow adoption of cloud among enterprises is Trust. Challenges around transparency, compliance, standardization and immature technologies are causing lack of trust between cloud stakeholders. And this lack of trust is the number one obstacle facing cloud computing.
So it is time for innovation. There is great demand for new, innovative solutions that will fuel the engines of the industry. Cloud Computing technologies can be innovative and ground breaking, this has been proved before. Today there are many areas where innovative solution can change the way we think and provide security.
In the presentation we will discuss the future of technologies like Identity Management, Encryption, API security and Big Data platforms and evaluate where we should improve the current technologies.
Regarding encryption - we know that current technologies are limited in our options to safe guard keys in virtual environments and that we don’t have solutions for using encryption as a method to increase real multi tenancy, audit and access controls, for all data types. Encryption technology must improve at all levels, starting from key management, file level encryption (IRM solutions) and other new technologies such as Homomorfic encryptions should be developed further to be effective.

Zero Trust, Zero Trust Network, or Zero Trust Architecture refer to security concepts and threat model that no longer assumes that actors, systems or services operating from within the security perimeter should be automatically trusted, and instead must verify anything and everything trying to connect to its systems before granting access.

In the presentation, we plan to announce the full version of a new open source tool called "Cloudefigo" and explain how it enables accelerated security lifecycle. We demonstrate how to launch a pre-configured, already patched instance into an encrypted storage environment automatically while evaluating their security and mitigating them automatically if a vulnerability is found. In the live demo, we leverage Amazon Web Services EC2 Cloud-Init scripts and object storage for provisioning automated security configuration, integrating encryption, including secure encryption key repositories for secure server's communication. The result of those techniques is cloud servers that are resilient, automatically configured, with the reduced attack surface.
SDP Glossary v2.0
What it is –
The CSA recently completed its revision of “Software-Defined Perimeter” Glossary, gauging market technologies and proltocols of this modern security architecture.
The Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) Glossary is a reference document that brings together SDP related terms and definitions from various professional resources. The terms and supporting information in the SDP glossary cover a broad range of areas, including the components of SDP and common supporting technologies.
Why we did this –
Bringing together all the information in this document is meant to minimize misinterpretation about SDP and provide a good understanding in the least amount of time. A balance has also been struck between length of the definitions and understandability with reliance on the reference source as the final arbiter. The result is a common language to communicate, understand, debate, conclude, and present the results of the SDP framework.
How it was developed –
The SDP Working Group (WG) set out to author a comprehensive resource on the terms and definitions within SDP architectures. SDP has changed since 2014, so the WG wanted to update the original SDP Glossary (v1.0, released in 2014). Relevant technologies and protocols not on the original Glossary were encapsulated and inserted to the latest Glossary. The WG held regular meetings over the course of 8 months to bring the new Glossary to fruition.
How to use this –
SDP Glossary v2.0 was intended as a reference document to draw Enterprises (and Service providers) that are interested in learning more about the underlying technologies and protocols. Those that are new to SDP will notice many familiar technologies involved, expediting their awareness of SDP. Ultimately, we see this glossary as a tool to familiarize practicianers with SDP. Awareness of the SDP toolkit is the first step to SDP Adoption.
Based on this Glossary revision effort, we’re pleased to see this level of familiarity (awareness), We are confident that SDP will continue to gain momentum, but realistic that we as proponents of SDP have some work to do. Clearly organizations face challenges in making the case for using SDP instead of traditional security technologies. The CSA will fill this gap with SDP resources and information.
The Glossary, along with SDP Specification, and SDP Architecture Guide, are vital pieces of SDP adoption and deployments within Industry.
IDSA Overview at CSA SV
The document summarizes an event on zero trust and identity in the enterprise. The event included a registration period from 6:00-6:25PM followed by two presentations - the first from 6:25-7:00PM on putting identity at the center of security and the second from 7:10-7:45PM on Adobe's zero trust enterprise network and the role of identity. In the presentation, we plan to announce the full version of a new open source tool called "Cloudefigo" and explain how it enables accelerated security lifecycle. We demonstrate how to launch a pre-configured, already patched instance into an encrypted storage environment automatically while evaluating their security and mitigating them automatically if a vulnerability is found. In the live demo, we leverage Amazon Web Services EC2 Cloud-Init scripts and object storage for provisioning automated security configuration, integrating encryption, including secure encryption key repositories for secure server's communication. The result of those techniques is cloud servers that are resilient, automatically configured, with the reduced attack surface.

What it is –
The CSA recently completed its revision of “Software-Defined Perimeter” Glossary, gauging market technologies and proltocols of this modern security architecture.
The Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) Glossary is a reference document that brings together SDP related terms and definitions from various professional resources. The terms and supporting information in the SDP glossary cover a broad range of areas, including the components of SDP and common supporting technologies.
Why we did this –
Bringing together all the information in this document is meant to minimize misinterpretation about SDP and provide a good understanding in the least amount of time. A balance has also been struck between length of the definitions and understandability with reliance on the reference source as the final arbiter. The result is a common language to communicate, understand, debate, conclude, and present the results of the SDP framework.
How it was developed –
The SDP Working Group (WG) set out to author a comprehensive resource on the terms and definitions within SDP architectures. SDP has changed since 2014, so the WG wanted to update the original SDP Glossary (v1.0, released in 2014). Relevant technologies and protocols not on the original Glossary were encapsulated and inserted to the latest Glossary. The WG held regular meetings over the course of 8 months to bring the new Glossary to fruition.
How to use this –
SDP Glossary v2.0 was intended as a reference document to draw Enterprises (and Service providers) that are interested in learning more about the underlying technologies and protocols. Those that are new to SDP will notice many familiar technologies involved, expediting their awareness of SDP. Ultimately, we see this glossary as a tool to familiarize practicianers with SDP. Awareness of the SDP toolkit is the first step to SDP Adoption.
Based on this Glossary revision effort, we’re pleased to see this level of familiarity (awareness), We are confident that SDP will continue to gain momentum, but realistic that we as proponents of SDP have some work to do. Clearly organizations face challenges in making the case for using SDP instead of traditional security technologies. The CSA will fill this gap with SDP resources and information.
The Glossary, along with SDP Specification, and SDP Architecture Guide, are vital pieces of SDP adoption and deployments within Industry.
