Michael Saceda 8-17
Purpose

- To observe osmosis in a cell
     Place egg in vinegar to
     remove shell
      Measure the weight of
     the egg
     Place one egg in corn
     syrup and place the other
     in water
     Weigh and measure the
     eggs again
Hypothesis

Water egg
 Water egg will be saggy
 The weight would be
 exactly the same
 The size will be exactly
 the same
Hypothesis

Corn syrup egg
  The egg would get more
  bigger
  The egg would be more
  heavy
  It would be sticky and
  bigger
Materials

Materials used
Eggs
2 beakers
Corn syrup
Vinegar
Water
Balance
String and measuring tape
Observations
          Before: After:
          Weight: 62.2 Weight: 77.0
 water Size: 14 Size: 18.5

(H2o)
          Weight. 71.3 Weight: 48.8
Corn Size: 17cm Size: 13
Syrup
Observations

After vinegar After syrup After Water
              24hrs 24hrs
• Bubbles coming up • Squishy • Puffy
• Eggs on the bottom • floating • Bubbles
                                    • Floating
Conclusion

Water egg
Water moved in to the egg
Egg had lower
concentration
Water moved from higher
to lower concentration
My hypothesis was wrong because I
thought the egg would stay exactly the
same in size appearance and weight.
Conclusion

   Corn Syrup Egg
   Corn syrup egg got smaller
Water moved out of the egg
   Egg had higher
   concentration
   Water moved from higher
   to lower concentration
My hypothesis was right because I said the
egg would get smaller. I also thought the
egg would get heavier but I was wrong.
