 Extension of the boundaries brought the park to its current

 After a new city charter in 1870 restored the park to local
control, the mayor appointed park commissioners.

Alice in Wonderland and Angel of the Waters.

 Harlem Meer, a wooded area surrounded by oak, cypress,
and beech trees was built after the completion of the
southern portion of the park.

Central Park and is under sea level.

17. Through our research, we were able to identify and describe the characteristics of a metropolitan park and have a better
understanding of landscape features and elements in a park. The site visit to KLCC park helped us to have a better
appreciation for the harmony and balance between the softscape and hardscape features of the landscape. Although both the
local and international case studies were both metropolitan parks, there were distinct differences between the two which
shows that the conditions and context greatly impact the characteristics of a park. Finally, we have learned the value of
teamwork and how several people can contribute towards a final product.
