A Solution To Dhaka’s Traffic Gridlock
• Dhaka has a population of 18+ million and is projected to touch 35 million by
2035.
• There are 4.5 million registered vehicle in the country with only 30% of public
vehicle.
• According to a report of world bank Dhaka is losing 3.2 million working hour
every day costing 30,000 crore taka .
• An efficient , safe , reliable and comfortable public transport is a prerequisite of
good living.
It is metro rail , the
future of Dhaka’s public
transport.
 High capacity carrier – very high volume of peak hour peak direction trips.
 Faster – reduces journey time by 50% to 75%.
 Eco friendly – low air ,sound and vibration pollution.
 Very low ground space – As the rail is elevated , only 2 meter ground is needed.
 Very low energy consumption – only 20% per passenger that of road transport.
 Greater traffic capacity – carries as much traffic as 7 lanes of bus or 24 lanes of
car traffic.
 This metro rail will save almost 200 crore taka per day and thus will make a
direct influence in the GDP.
 Passengers will be using “Rapid Pass” for a hassle free ride.
 It will ply 13 meter above the median of the road and to reduce vibration and
noise floating track and noise barrier wall will be used.
 It will have a separate power grid to ensure uninterrupted electricity.
