Definition of
Extension
CHED defines extension as the act of communicating,
persuading and helping specific sectors or target
clienteles
(as distinguished from those enrolled in formal degree
program
and course offerings) to enable them to effectively improve
productions, community and/ or institutions, and quality of
life
(Romulo Neri, CMO, April 9, 2008).

CETCS
Objectives:The Community Extension Services of CETCS aims to:

1.) Develop a wholesome attitude to out of school-youth, displaced workers and
adults by implementing community extension projects and thus realize community
involvement as their social responsibility.
2.) Provide knowledge on basic industrial technology such as automotive servicing,
basic electrical wiring, basic metal installation, small engines servicing,
air conditioning and refrigeration, and PC Assembly & Troubleshooting
3.) Provide knowledge on basic computer literacy such as word processing
(MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), presentation (MS Power Point),
desktop publishing & Printing (MS Publisher)
4.) Provide knowledge on basic digital drawing such as AUTOCAD.
5.) Provide knowledge on advance computer literacy such as WEB Designing,
Mobile Apps Development and C++ Programming.

Objectives:The Community Extension Services of CETCS endeavor to:

6.) Develop skills on basic livelihood such as welding, electricity, automotive and
air conditioning and refrigeration repair and maintenance.
7.) Develop skills on basic computer operation and PC Assembly &
Troubleshooting.
8.) Develop skills on basic web designing in which the trainee could be able
to create a simple and demandable website.
9.) Mold and inculcate the values of perseverance and courage to put up and
establish a business such as repair & maintenance on air conditioning and
refrigeration, arc welding, automotive servicing, small engine servicing, basic
electricity & wiring installation, PC Assembly and Troubleshooting.
10.) Promote knowledge sharing and assist to those in need of help
to create income generating projects such as welding, electrical installation &
PC troubleshooting, formatting PC and Installation which aim to generate
employment as a contribution in the development of the community.

CETCS Program Responsible
The College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science composed of
three departments:
1.) Engineering Department
2.) Industrial Technology Department
3.) Computer Science Department
The College aims to establish its extension services to the community which are
the Barangay Central Bicutan and Barangay Upper Bicutan constituents.
The BSCS program cater the targeted beneficiaries the Barangay Bicutan in developing
the skills and talent of creation of output which inline on computing while the
BSME, BSCE, BSIE and BSIT mold the participants of Barangay Central Bicutan on
basic electricity, automotive, welding, repair & maintenance of air conditioning
and refrigeration

This study aimed to determine the assessment of the trainees regarding skills
training conducted by the TCU-CETCS to the Barangay Central Bicutan, Taguig
City.
Specifically, this will answer to the following questions:
1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of ;
1.1 age
1.2 gender
1.3 marital status
1.4 educational attainment
1.5 employment status
1.6 short-course trained

Significance of the
Study1.) Barangay Officials of Central Bicutan
- this study would give insight to the official of barangay regarding the
progress how far the trainee undergo the training skills.
2.) TCU-CETCS Faculty who conducted the skills training
- this study would give insight to the trainer which is the faculty of
TCU-CETCS regarding the feedback about the progress learning.
3.) Constituent of Barangay Central Bicutan
- this study would give a good impression for those who did not
undergo the training skills and incoming trainee.

Methodolog
yThis study makes use of descriptive research method with questionnaire as
the major tool for gathering data. Purposive sampling technique was used in the study
based on the judgement of the researcher as to who can provide the best information to
achieve the objectives set in the study. The researchers only goes to those people who
in his/her opinion are likely to have the required information and be willing to share.
The researchers conduct a survey questionnaire to the training participants
during the last community extension conducted by the TCU-CETCS which 50% or
80 respondents out of 160 graduates answered the survey questionnaire.
A complete enumeration was used in seeking the trainee respondents, thus, random non
probability sampling procedure was utilized in the study.

Research Instrument
The primary data and information gathered from the
respondents are extracted through the following instruments:
1.) The researchers made survey questionnaire which seeks to
gather information on the demographic profile of the respondents;
and to determine the skilled acquired of the trainee.
2.) The researcher made an individual interview on the trainee
regarding the status quo of their living.

Findings
Findings revealed that the assessment of the trainee with regards to perception
of respondent’s participation in the community extension program is high or
has a weighted mean of 4.0, the problem encountered of respondent during
the training is average or has a weighted mean of 3.78, the level of satisfaction
after the short-course training in terms of learning experience is average or
has a weighted mean of 3.7, while in terms of skills acquired is average or
has a weighted mean of 3.6. The impact of the training to the socio-economic
status of the respondents is high or has a weighted mean of 4.0.
With these findings, it magnifies that the college which is College of Engineering,
Technology and Computer Science has achieved the level of satisfaction to the nearby
Community where the trainees acquired the necessary skills and knowledge is
a great contribution.

Conclusions
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions
were drawn. Majority of the 80 respondents in terms of
perceptions have a very high level of knowledge and skills acquired.
Most of the respondents’ encountered problems during the training
an average level and speaking of level of satisfaction
both learning experience and skills acquired have an average level also.
Lastly, there is a high level of the impact of the training to the
socio-economic status of the respondents.

SCIENCE
Conclusions
The concluding statement states that the College of Engineering,
Technology and Computer Science has achieved the high level of
satisfaction both learning experience and skills acquired and also
the impact of the training to the socio-economic status of
the respondents.
The study is benefited not only for the Barangay Official of Central
Bicutan but also for TCU-CETCS Faculty members which serves
as the guiding factor and big contribution to the constituents of
nearby barangay.

SCIENCE
Recommendation and Future Work
On the basis of these findings and conclusions and
in order to have voluntary and sustainable services to
the nearby community, it is recommended to allocate
in advance a proposed budget and implement a
data analytics in terms of predicting
the behaviour of the main participants.
