MEDITATION
meditation is practice of turning your attention
or concentration to one point .
Its coming from Latin as meditari, which means to concentrate
What is meditation ?
According to Cambridge dictionary define as,
“act of giving your attention to only one either as a
religions activity or as a way of becoming calm & relax”
Four main religious had followed meditation in different ways
But the purpose is common
• Buddhist meditation refers to the meditative practice associated with the
religion &philosophy of Buddhism.
• In Buddhism used method of meditation to awaking NIRVANA.
• The most common words for meditation is BAVANA.
Mainly it can be divided into two as,
Samatha
vipassana
SAMATHA is studies, composes unifies &concentrates our mind
VIPASSANA is enable one to see, explore &discern
Buddhism
Hinduism
• Mostly in Hinduism they use yoga ,Dhyana to realize union of
one’s eternal self or soul.
• In Hinduism they used yoga in 8 ways.
Those are,
Yamas-ethical decepliene
Niyamas-rules
Asamas-physical posture
Pranayama-breath controlling
Prathyahara- withdrawal from the sense
Dharana-one pointed of mind
Samadhi-result (keep mind in one potentioal)
Christianism
Christian meditation is process of deliberately.
People try this method to keep connection with god
Rosary is a devotion for the meditation of the mysteries of Jesus and Mary
The first principle is that meditation is learned through practice.
Many people who practice rosary meditation begin very simply and gradually
develop a more sophisticated meditation.
According to Edmund p.clowney,Christian meditation contrasts with eastern
forms of meditation
Muslims
 Salah is a mandatory act of devotion performed by Muslims five time per day.
 The body goes through sets of different posture.
 Dhikr is 2nd optional type of meditation
 Which means remembering and mentioning the god

• Now it become a cultural part

Mindfulness meditation

1. Mindfulness meditation
 It is most popular in the west
 You pay attention to your thoughts as they pass though your mind
 It included MBSR & MBCT
 It can use to beginner in meditation
 Can be mostly reduced depression
2. Concentrative meditation
 Focused on some specific thing through our five sense
 It is bit hard to conduct for beginners
 Load buddha had practice that method
Movement meditation
 Yoga is one of movement meditation
 While doing it ,usually walk on a genital surface
 It is very accessible way to restore the equilibrium of the mind
Mantra meditation
 Most probably it included in Hinduism and Buddhism
 mantra is a series of phrases or word chanting or
singing
 It use dedicated words to achieve users potential
 “om”is well known phrase in this meditation
→ sit or lie comfortably
→close your eyes
→make no effort to control the breath simply breath naturally
→focus your attention to the breath and on how the body moves with each inhalation
and
exhalation
→notice the movement of your body as your breath observe your chest ,shoulder rib
cage
→ if your mind wanders return your focus back to your breath
According to pioneer of meditation there are 2 type of

 Psychological benefits
Physiological benefits of the meditation is how mediation is positively effect
to human body
Psychological benefits of the meditation is how meditation is positively effect
to our brain and mind

its mean understanding of yourself
• Improve sleep
nearly half the population will struggle with insomnia at some
after doing meditation our mind will relax
• Can decrease blood pressure
there must be meditate regularly
helping prevent hart disease
