Medical textile is a technical textile sector that combines textile technology and medical science to improve human health and wellness. Medical textiles can be classified as non-implantable materials like wound dressings and bandages, extracorporeal devices like artificial kidneys, and implantable materials like vascular grafts. The main properties of medical textiles are that they are non-toxic, non-allergenic, non-carcinogenic, bio-compatible, and able to be sterilized without changes. Fibers used include commodity fibers like cotton, silk, and synthetics as well as specialty fibers like collagen and calcium alginate. As medical procedures advance, the demand for medical textiles is growing significantly

subjects of the technical textile sector. Medical
textile also known as bio-medical.
Textile which is actually the mixture of textile
technology and medical science. The main purpose
of medical textile is improved human health and
wellness.

Collagen Fiber:- This is obtained
from cow skin.
Calcium Alginate:-This is made from
sea weed. This fiber possess healing
properties.
Chitin:- This is a polysaccharide
obtained from crab and shrimp shell.

10. Medical Textiles are one of the dynamically expanding sectors and
development of same is to convert painful days of patients into
comfortable days.
As medical procedures continue and transform the demand for textile
materials is bound to grow and grow.

11. Conclusion
Major sector of medical textile are health care, hygiene, new fiber technology
and artificial medical textile products. Medical textile is very important for
human health therefore this sector is fastest growing sector in textile
industry but in our country in textile sector medical textile’s condition is so
poor. Only 4% produced in our country.
