Creating a media product taught the student many new technologies. The student learned how to use Fronter software to create pages, insert text, images and links for their magazine. Photoshop allowed the student to edit images and apply fonts, shapes and text settings to design magazine layouts. Taking original photographs required learning to use a DLR Nikon camera and understand lighting to obtain high quality images for the media production.

5. Photoshop CS6 was a completely new technology in which I used to produce my
media product. Using Photoshop allowed me to use features that edited the front
cover, contents page and double page spread to a standard that made it look like a
magazine product. I learnt how to use tools such as the ‘magic wand’ and
‘magnetic lasso’, which edited images used. Photoshop also opened up the
options of more fonts, text settings and shapes which helped make the layouts for
the magazine. Learning how to use Photoshop has allowed me to generate
particular and unique formats for my media product.

6. For my original photography, the photographs were taken in a studio. This meant
learning how to use a DLR Nikon camera, as well as understanding how lighting worked.
I learnt how to use particular functions in order to obtain higher quality photographs,
for example, the aperture of a photograph was changed on the camera so that editing
was easier. Setting up the lights such as turning them down or up according to the type
of image taken, was learnt. I had to assess how well the lighting would assist the object
and adjusted positioning also. Learning how to work a camera and lighting allowed me
produce the images for my media production and learn how to assess different ways to
take these pictures.
