The student created a magazine and learned several new technologies in the process. They used a camera, lighting, Adobe Photoshop, internet research on Google and YouTube, Microsoft PowerPoint, their mobile phone, and social media to complete the project. Specifically, they learned how to use a Panasonic Lumix camera, the blogging platform Blogger, Photoshop editing tools, different lighting techniques, and how to conduct online research. Through using these technologies, the student was able to produce a more professional and polished final magazine product.

2. Technology
During the production of my magazine I used a range of different technologies in order to get to my final
production, I have learned different skills throughout using these products and used them in order to
construct and improve my magazine.
I used the following technologies for the production of my magazine...

3. Camera – Panasonic Lumix Lx7
I used the Panasonic Lumix lx7 to take my images for my magazine, this was an important part of my final
production and it was therefore very important that I understand the camera in order to get the best pictures. I
had no experience with a Panasonic Lumix Lx7. To make myself more familiar with the camera I researched and
watched tutorials on the Panasonic Lumix Lx7. To become more familiar with the camera I researched about the
camera and then experimented with different parts (ISO, aperture, iris and shutter speed) to see how it would
affect the photographs, doing this helped me understand how to change features of the camera in order to get
the best for my final images.

4. Blogger
Blogger is an easy way to present and organise information. I used blogger to record my progression
and research for my product. Blogger allows you to organise your information well and therefore it
is easy for me to navigate through and look at different parts of my research.

5. Adobe Photoshop
I used Adobe Photoshop to edit and alter my
images before getting to my final production.
I was not familiar with Photoshop, I used
tutorials in order to give me more knowledge
on how to work Photoshop so that I could edit
my photos better.
I used Photoshop to edit my photos by using
contrast and brightness to manipulate parts
of my photo to make the images look better
for my final production. I also used Photoshop
to add text to my magazine and create my
final production.

6. Lighting
I used lighting to get better lit photos for my magazine, I used artificial lighting
because it is easy to adjust in order to get the light to hit your model in the right
places.
Using the lighting was quite easy in order to learn how it works, however you
must be persistent in order to use the right setting on the lights and position
them correctly to give me the best lighting for my photographs. I tried multiple
different trials with the lights using my model and then changing and positioning
the lights in different ways to see where created the best lighting, by trying
many different ways to see which lighting would work best. I looked up on the
internet ways in which to position your lights to get the best lighting and
watched tutorials in order to help me get a better understanding on lighting and
how to arrange it well.
I used vibrant lighting, to try and make my images as light as possible, especially
the background so that my model would stand out. Using high key lighting is a
common convention of magazine photographs, which is why I decided to use high
key lighting for my images, it makes the photographs look more professional and
aesthetically pleasing which will attract the reader.

7. Internet Explorer
I used internet explorer in order to research codes and conventions of music
magazines, specifically indie music magazine, before designing my production. I
also used it to look in to target audiences of indie magazine so that I could create
a good connection for my target audience and my magazine.
I used internet explorer to go on YouTube and watch tutorials on how to use
Photoshop and learn new skills on how to work the camera in the most effective
way. I used the internet to be able to log my process on Blogger each step of the
way to my production, not being familiar with Blogger I learnt a lot about how it
works and feel that it is very useful to track my progress and record it all in one
place, on a website that is easy to navigate, using technology to record my
progress saves time and makes it a lot easier to do.

8. Mobile phone
I used my phone (IPhone 6) to access the internet when doing my research,
although using my computer to the majority of my research I still used my
mobile phone.
I used my phone to use messenger, which I then uploaded my photos on to
which allowed me to communicate with my focus group and collect information
and opinions from them which allowed me to develop my magazine. There is
technological convergence as using the mobile phone allowed me to email,
communicate, research and allowed me to pass information easily between the
internet, my focus group and my blog.

9. Microsoft PowerPoint
I used Microsoft PowerPoint during my research to create my codes and
conventions of music magazines, this was a good way for me to display it as it
is easy to navigate and is a clearly organised way to present my research.
I also used Microsoft PowerPoint to answer my evaluation questions as I found
it an easy way to organise each part of the question and lay it out in an
organised way.

10. Conclusion
The use of technology has been a massive part in the making of my final production and
has helped me a huge amount along the way to be able to create my final piece. If I
didn’t use these technologies then my final production would be less advanced and also
less professional.
Using these technologies have made my product more professional, presentable and
also has allowed the creation of my final product easier and made the collection of my
research easier. Using technology meant that I had a wide variety of different
instruments that I could use for making my production which would be hard to do if I
didn’t have access to these different technologies.
I was not always familiar with all these different technologies, but whilst creating my
production I have learnt about each technology and gathered further skills
