We also don’t include females,
which shows our target
audience to be male.

We also have two different

RED Bull advert
Similar football advert and it has
elements of slow motion, just as
our revision advert as fast paced
areas.

It only contains good footballers

It never shows them drinking the
drink

It has the logo at the end

It contains males

Only contains good elements not
showing them before they drank
the energy drink

Contains the convention of you
will be better if you have this drink

PowerAde
Keeps with the energy theme,
contains slow motion
Shows one person who is better
then the other
The person who is better is
drinking PowerAde who is drinking
the normal water, similar to our
running advert.
They also contain some elements

How effective is the combination
  of your main product and
        ancillary texts ?
To show that the four adverts are clearly
connected to one another we use the same song
and sport in the main products and ancillary
texts because this is so the audience can
remember our product when they hear the song
also when the advert starts the audience hear
the music and know that it’s a turbo advert they
will also remember the other adverts.
We also use the same actor in advert 2 and the
promotional advert this is so the audience can
connect our promotional add which is the
shortest to the longer one of the first advert
with more in it to show the audience.
There is also the same situation in the two main
adverts which is the character not doing very
well in something and taking the drink and
becoming better at it this shows to the audience
that the drink will work in anything, sports or
revision included. This is similar to real life
adverts of sports drinks like Lucozade and
Powerade.
Two male actors and voices in all of the adverts
this links all of the adverts to each other it also
shows that the target audience for the products
is male
In the first advert, second advert and the
promotional they all have a close up of the label
on the bottle this is to show the audience that
even though there is a different bottle in the
second advert than the first advert the label is
the same so the audience can recognise that the
products are the same.
In all of our adverts we mainly use high key lighting because
they are filmed outside and the high key lighting gives a
happier feel to our adverts so the audience will remember
the product and then buy it, However, advert 2 is filmed
indoors in which the low key lighting goes with the
depressing theme of revision.
- All of these things that make the adverts successful and
connect work well in all the adverts and are effective in
connecting all the adverts together
3. What have you learnt from your
      audience feedback?
If we were to restart this project we
                   would...
Use stronger and louder acting

Target both genders

Spend more time on the Radio advert
We believe our product to be successful because...

The association between all four adverts are strong
such as using the same song and tagline.

The use of slow and fast motion clearly distinguishes
the products enhancement.

The product is clearly shown throughout the adverts
leaving the viewer with a lasting message.
How Did You Use new media
   technologies in the
We used a range of different media technologies in all of
our project to ensure our adverts and research were to the
                       best of its ability.
In our research and planning, we used the mac computers
available in the classroom for internet as well as other
computers around the school and our own internet devices.
This use of technology allowed us to view other adverts for
us to gain a better idea of what was asked of us, and to give
us a better foundation to begin with. It also helped us come
up with ideas, and even gave us more knowledge on camera
shots etc. We looked at adverts such as powerade,
lucozade, relentless and many more on the website
YouTube, which helped us expand our ideas. Here are some
                    links to those adverts.
                     Lucozade ad- http://
         www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fhMC9zrUaI
                         Powerade ad-
     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9byyGbPCRas
Internet

The internet also allowed us to view websites
such BBC and the ASA to research other areas of
media, to further give us a better understanding
of media as a whole. From this we were able to
understand things such as the 'key principles of
the advertising codes' and the 'top ten adverts
to cause offence', which helped us to not repeat
similar mistakes as those made by others.
Technologies in Planning
Other use of technology in our planning, is when we took
pictures of our storyboards and uploaded them to the mac
computers in class, this saved us a huge amount of time,
instead of having to spend time figuring out how to Draw
on the macs, we simply took pictures of the storyboards
with the digital we were given and uploaded them. This
way proved fast and effective.
The macs also allowed us to animate our storyboard,
something which wouldn’t be possible on paper, and overall
made things a lot better for us.
Cameras small portable
Through our project, we recorded with
cameras, which were very useful as we were able to travel
to any location we wanted to record (including off school
premises) and the technology from the cameras allowed us
to do everything we needed. There were many advantages
to this, the main being we could use the cameras anywhere
without having to worry about charging, and the fact we
could record as often as we liked.
The only disadvantages for the use of cameras, was the fact
the we were required to use one of our group members to
record the adverts, and the shakiness of the camera
sometimes shows. Although we had a tripod, it cannot
always be relied on as it seemed to break down on us quite
often.
iMovie
iMovie for editing was a great form of media technology,
after uploading our adverts via the cable we were able to
insert it to iMovie and edit the adverts. We arranged them
in the order we wanted, cut out what wasn’t needed, put
effects where necessary, and much more. This enabled us
to finish off and add the final touches to our project to
make sure it was the best it could be. Limitations for iMovie
were things like the fact we could not add some of the
effects we wanted, eg. A certain amount of running length
was required before we could add a effect. Also, the
shakiness of the camera in parts of the averts were not
fixable on iMovie, we had to re film those parts and repeat
the whole process.
Technologies for evaluation

We opted for the presentation, and being such
a great media technololgy, we simply have to
show our presentation and after being recorded
it could be sent off straightforwardly with all the
content included. For the evaluation we also
used PowerPoint and internet to write up and
evaluate everything done so far, from the
internet we were able to draw examples and
insert hyperlinks and pictures which helped give

Media Studies EVALUATION

  • 1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts ?
  • 2. Conventions The star struggling to do something before he drinks the drink and then becomes successful at it. We also don’t include females, which shows our target audience to be male. We also have two different scenarios rather then just the same all the way through We also have colours which are mostly associated with
  • 3. Ben Drinking Product Rooney Drinking Product Ben Close-Up (Serious) Rooney Close up Serious
  • 4. RED Bull advert Similar football advert and it has elements of slow motion, just as our revision advert as fast paced areas. It only contains good footballers It never shows them drinking the drink It has the logo at the end It contains males Only contains good elements not showing them before they drank the energy drink Contains the convention of you will be better if you have this drink http://
  • 5. PowerAde Keeps with the energy theme, contains slow motion Shows one person who is better then the other The person who is better is drinking PowerAde who is drinking the normal water, similar to our running advert. They also contain some elements of slow motion http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XoRI1BUiME
  • 6. Monster Energy Drink Mostly Males Shows them all lazy and lounging around Shows them drink the drink Everything becomes faster fast paced Fast forward, edited similarly Shows them having a good time rather then a bad time. http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln8_AUCIkAw
  • 7. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts ?
  • 8. To show that the four adverts are clearly connected to one another we use the same song and sport in the main products and ancillary texts because this is so the audience can remember our product when they hear the song also when the advert starts the audience hear the music and know that it’s a turbo advert they will also remember the other adverts.
  • 9. We also use the same actor in advert 2 and the promotional advert this is so the audience can connect our promotional add which is the shortest to the longer one of the first advert with more in it to show the audience.
  • 10. There is also the same situation in the two main adverts which is the character not doing very well in something and taking the drink and becoming better at it this shows to the audience that the drink will work in anything, sports or revision included. This is similar to real life adverts of sports drinks like Lucozade and Powerade.
  • 11. Two male actors and voices in all of the adverts this links all of the adverts to each other it also shows that the target audience for the products is male
  • 12. In the first advert, second advert and the promotional they all have a close up of the label on the bottle this is to show the audience that even though there is a different bottle in the second advert than the first advert the label is the same so the audience can recognise that the products are the same.
  • 13. In all of our adverts we mainly use high key lighting because they are filmed outside and the high key lighting gives a happier feel to our adverts so the audience will remember the product and then buy it, However, advert 2 is filmed indoors in which the low key lighting goes with the depressing theme of revision. - All of these things that make the adverts successful and connect work well in all the adverts and are effective in connecting all the adverts together
  • 14. 3. What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
  • 15.
  • 16.
  • 17. If we were to restart this project we would... Use stronger and louder acting Target both genders Spend more time on the Radio advert
  • 18. We believe our product to be successful because... The association between all four adverts are strong such as using the same song and tagline. The use of slow and fast motion clearly distinguishes the products enhancement. The product is clearly shown throughout the adverts leaving the viewer with a lasting message.
  • 19. How Did You Use new media technologies in the
  • 20. We used a range of different media technologies in all of our project to ensure our adverts and research were to the best of its ability. In our research and planning, we used the mac computers available in the classroom for internet as well as other computers around the school and our own internet devices. This use of technology allowed us to view other adverts for us to gain a better idea of what was asked of us, and to give us a better foundation to begin with. It also helped us come up with ideas, and even gave us more knowledge on camera shots etc. We looked at adverts such as powerade, lucozade, relentless and many more on the website YouTube, which helped us expand our ideas. Here are some links to those adverts. Lucozade ad- http:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fhMC9zrUaI Powerade ad- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9byyGbPCRas
  • 21. Internet The internet also allowed us to view websites such BBC and the ASA to research other areas of media, to further give us a better understanding of media as a whole. From this we were able to understand things such as the 'key principles of the advertising codes' and the 'top ten adverts to cause offence', which helped us to not repeat similar mistakes as those made by others.
  • 22. Technologies in Planning Other use of technology in our planning, is when we took pictures of our storyboards and uploaded them to the mac computers in class, this saved us a huge amount of time, instead of having to spend time figuring out how to Draw on the macs, we simply took pictures of the storyboards with the digital we were given and uploaded them. This way proved fast and effective. The macs also allowed us to animate our storyboard, something which wouldn’t be possible on paper, and overall made things a lot better for us.
  • 23. Cameras small portable Through our project, we recorded with cameras, which were very useful as we were able to travel to any location we wanted to record (including off school premises) and the technology from the cameras allowed us to do everything we needed. There were many advantages to this, the main being we could use the cameras anywhere without having to worry about charging, and the fact we could record as often as we liked. The only disadvantages for the use of cameras, was the fact the we were required to use one of our group members to record the adverts, and the shakiness of the camera sometimes shows. Although we had a tripod, it cannot always be relied on as it seemed to break down on us quite often.
  • 24. iMovie iMovie for editing was a great form of media technology, after uploading our adverts via the cable we were able to insert it to iMovie and edit the adverts. We arranged them in the order we wanted, cut out what wasn’t needed, put effects where necessary, and much more. This enabled us to finish off and add the final touches to our project to make sure it was the best it could be. Limitations for iMovie were things like the fact we could not add some of the effects we wanted, eg. A certain amount of running length was required before we could add a effect. Also, the shakiness of the camera in parts of the averts were not fixable on iMovie, we had to re film those parts and repeat the whole process.
  • 25. Technologies for evaluation We opted for the presentation, and being such a great media technololgy, we simply have to show our presentation and after being recorded it could be sent off straightforwardly with all the content included. For the evaluation we also used PowerPoint and internet to write up and evaluate everything done so far, from the internet we were able to draw examples and insert hyperlinks and pictures which helped give
