Media selection in advertising
TY BCOM UNIT 5
• Media selection is very important part of preparing an
advertisement.
• Advertising media selection is the process of choosing the
most efficient media for an advertising campaign.
• One must select proper media depending the target
audience of the advertisement.
•
• There are various media platforms for advertising like
internet, TV, Radio, news paper, magazine etc.
• The media is selected according to its target audience,
product, timing, locality and somewhat budget of the
company. For the media selection one must consider
following factors:
• 1. Know where the target audience is
available.
• 2. Observe whether the target audience is
educated or not.
Which media is widely used by the customers ?
• 4. Consider the budget for the advertising
because all mediums are not affordable for
the company.
• 5. Think of the length and importance of
advertising.
• 6. Media selection should depend on the
content or theme of the advertising. Whether
it is pictures, texts, audios or vedios.
• One should consider the environment in
media selection. E.g if it is cricket world cup
time, then TV, News paper are best mediums
for advertising
• There are some all time available and effective
media like social sites, whats app etc. The
advertiser should select them time to time.
• Media can be selected by considering the
target audience’s interest e.g. Woman watch
serials so products for them can be advertised
on TV during that time.
• Thus media selection must be careful because
poor media selection can make the
advertisement ineffective and unsuccessful.
Proper media in advertising helps to increase
customers and profit to the company

  • 2. • Media selection is very important part of preparing an advertisement. • Advertising media selection is the process of choosing the most efficient media for an advertising campaign. • One must select proper media depending the target audience of the advertisement. • • There are various media platforms for advertising like internet, TV, Radio, news paper, magazine etc. • The media is selected according to its target audience, product, timing, locality and somewhat budget of the company. For the media selection one must consider following factors:
  • 3. • 1. Know where the target audience is available.
  • 4. • 2. Observe whether the target audience is educated or not.
  • 5. Which media is widely used by the customers ?
  • 6. • 4. Consider the budget for the advertising because all mediums are not affordable for the company.
  • 7. • 5. Think of the length and importance of advertising. • 6. Media selection should depend on the content or theme of the advertising. Whether it is pictures, texts, audios or vedios.
  • 8. • One should consider the environment in media selection. E.g if it is cricket world cup time, then TV, News paper are best mediums for advertising
  • 9. • There are some all time available and effective media like social sites, whats app etc. The advertiser should select them time to time.
  • 10. • Media can be selected by considering the target audience’s interest e.g. Woman watch serials so products for them can be advertised on TV during that time.
  • 11. • Thus media selection must be careful because poor media selection can make the advertisement ineffective and unsuccessful. Proper media in advertising helps to increase customers and profit to the company
