This document outlines a proposed 5 minute extract from a documentary TV program about life after turning 18. It will follow various 18-year-olds and those aged 21 who have experienced university, showing how people act and their plans. The documentary will have a lifestyle/reality genre mix and air as a 3-part, half-hour series on BBC1 at 7pm before Eastenders to attract viewers. It will also be promoted through a newspaper advertisement and radio trailer describing the documentary's focus on the transition to adulthood.

2. What have I chosen to do? I plan to work individually and to create an extract from a new documentary TV programme which will last around 5 minutes. I will also include a newspaper advertisement for the documentary which will be a detailed account on what the documentary is about so it interests the reader. I will also use a radio trailer for the documentary to promote the show and get people to watch it.

3. Narrative Genre of the documentary: A mix of lifestyle and reality. What’s the idea? My idea is what’s life like after you turn 18. It will involve how people act e.g. partying, studying, I will look at the next step of going to university and how people are feeling about it. I will include older people around 21 who have experienced university and what they are planning on doing next which could help the people who are about to go to university to show what hap pens when you finish. It will be based on how 18 year old acts and what they plan on doing in the future. Characters: As its a lifestyle and reality type of documentary it wont have set characters throughout i will include different characters to make it more interesting and show the difference in how people act. The typical character will be 18 it will include both females and males.

4. Distribution Name of production company: SCH Productions. Where will it be advertised? As my documentary will be played on a TV channel I want to advertise it on that channel, I've chosen to show it on BBC1 because this is a popular channel that most people watch, it does already show a lot of documentaries so it would fit in with the type of programmers they show. The documentary will be at 7pm on a Tuesday night showing before the popular show Eastenders because its a time when everyone is home from work. It will be a 3 part half an hour long documentary that runs for 3 weeks, each week it focuses on something different.
