Flickr and YouTube were used to present research plans and compare thriller conventions between films. IMDb was used to read thriller storylines for inspiration and to develop ideas. Research included studying a cross dissolve scene from Midnight Cowboy to recreate a flashback effect, and analyzing thrillers like Amityville Horror and Nightmare on Elm Street to see conventions. Costume research was also conducted. Planning involved creating storyboards, mood boards, timescales, and deadlines. Spider diagrams were made to generate multiple ideas, which were then voted on to select the most popular thriller concept. Effective research and planning provides order and organization critical for staying on budget to create a successful media product.
