What is Sensor?
a device, module, machine, or subsystem
Purpose
 to detect events or changes in its environment
 send the information to other electronics
 Types of Sensor :
1. PIR Sensor(Passive Infra-red sensor).
2. IR Sensor (Infrared Sensor)
3. Pressure Sensor.
4. Light Sensor.

Sensor
Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) Sensor:
measures infrared (IR) light radiating from
objects in its field of view.
Work of the PIR Sensor:
 Working Voltage: 5v-12v DC
 Ranging Distance: 3m-7m (Adjustable)
Mechanism of PIR sensor
 Consists pyroelectric
sensor
Mechanism of PIR sensor
 Detect movement
 Frenzei lens focuses the infared signals onto the pyelectric sensor.
Mechanism of PIR sensor
 let’s connect to the module to the Auduino mode.
o 3pins ground
o a VCC for powering
o a output pin
o two potentiometers
 This time can be adjusted from 0.3 seconds up
to 5 minutes.
How PIR sensor works for Human Body
 Human body
clothing received
the pyroelectric
sensor
 In this surveillance mode the
pyroelectric sensor sees the
moving human body
 IR constantly
changes the
temperature of the
pyroelectric
material
IR outputs a
corresponding signal,
which is the alarm
signal
• PIR sensor based Security Alarm Based System
Switch on the circuit initially
The PIR sensor is powered and detects the IR rays emitted form
any human.
The sensor range of 5meters adjust the pot provided to vary this
distance.
when a presence is detected, the PIR sensor outoutas a logis
valueof 3.5V-5V
this voltage is applied as input to the siren generator IC
PIR sensor other uses:
 smart home
 elevator
 all outdoor Lights
 common staircases
 for Basement or Covered Parking Area
 shopping Malls
 for garden lights
 many more…..
