Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

An EFL lesson about the current events in Palestine. It is intended to be for intermediate students who wish to increase their listening skills through a short lesson in power point.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

5. Poster Analysis 1
I have chosen an Avengers: Endgame poster to analyse. It has a variety
of colours such as: Purple, red, gold, orange. The reason they have used
these colours because they want to interest the audience to watch this
movie. There are a variety of costumes for the characters. One of the
characters has an American outfit to represent America, it has red,
white blue for Captain America suit which represents the American flag.
It has a villain in the background of this poster which has a purple face.
The purple face creature is called Thanos and they made him look like an
alien instead of an human. They have chosen a purple colour because
they wanted to go for a good and bad side for this poster. This poster
holds a variety of characters to fill this poster. The location for this
poster looks like they are based in space seeing as it’s a black
background. Some of the characters look bigger than the characters at
the front of the poster.
6. Poster Analysis 2
I have chosen a game poster called Batman Arkham
Knight to analyse. There are limited colours for this
poster. The main colours that stand out is Black.
Batman has a black and a grey suit which represents
his character in the films and games. He is a good guy
and doesn’t use weapons, he uses combat. He wears a
helmet with pointy ear to represent a bat, he wears a
helmet so then he can keep his identity safe. It shows
you destruction in the background, cars in flames which
causes harm. It shows you a vehicle (Batmobile). The
Batmobile is Black and is the same as Batman’s outfit.
The background of this poster is black and grey which
represents power and strength and that is what
Batman’s character is about using his strength and
using his power to defeat enemies.
7. Poster Analysis 3
I have chosen a Star Wars poster from the Rise Of
Skywalker (episode 6) to analyse. This poster has a
different variety of colour such as black, blue and
red. The red colour represents evil, the blue colour
represents calm, and the black colour represents
power and strength. Some of the characters are
bigger than other characters, including the
characters weapons(Lightsabers). At the bottom of
the poster you can see the characters duelling on
a slanted piece of wood. You can see Vehicles in
the background. The character at the top right is
wearing a helmet with red scratches on his helmet
and this makes the character look evil because red
represents evil and death. The background is black
and this makes it look like it is based in space.
8. Soundtrack
• Clip 1

background. It makes the sound scary to the
audience. It makes it sound that something is bad is
about to happen, someone or something might be in
danger. The sound gets louder when it gets to the
end.
• Clip 2
• The second clip makes it sound more calmer by how
the sound doesn’t get louder. In this second clip you
can also hear bells which makes the sound more
relaxing and calmer. It sounds like they are going on
a magical journey.
9. Shining
• The have made this trailer sounds so relaxing
and calmer. They have turned this trailer into a
family thriller. They have editing all the horror
scenes in this movie. They have made the
sound quiet, not loud.
10. Scary Mary
• This movie has scary and dramatic sounds in
this trailer. This trailer does not sound like a
family comedy to watch. This movie would
probably not be relaxing for some people that
would want to watch this movie. It has a lot of
loud sounds. They have edited the good
scenes from this movie.

19. Clip Analysis
• This clip is about a Jedi and a Sith duelling one another.
The Lightsaber colours are red and blue. The blue colour
connotates how calm and good, on the other hand red
colour connotates evil and death. Darth Vader is wearing
a black helmet and black clothing for his appearance
which makes him look evil. You can see when the red
Lightsaber shines on his helmet where he sees out of. You
can hear a star wars theme in the background. It shows
you other colours about the Jedi outfit such as a yellow
colour. You can also see Stormtroopers and vehicles in the
background of the shot. The music in this clip makes the
clip dramatic. There are many different shots in this clip,
such as: extreme close up on Darth Vader’s helmet(which
makes him look angry), low shot on Darth Vader and the
Stormtroopers( to make him look scary and that he is
ready to fight), long shot on Darth Vader and a Jedi
duelling(to see what they are doing). The shots focus
more on the Lightsaber fights and when the Lightsabers
hit one another you can hear an affect from them.
