The IITA Analytical Service Laboratory in Ibadan, Nigeria, presents its capabilities in soil, plant, water, and fertilizer analysis using advanced technology. The lab seeks to enhance collaboration among soil testing laboratories and improve proficiency testing in Africa, while also advocating for stronger connections with farmers. Current equipment includes AAS, ICP-OES, MIR, and XRF, and there is a desire to scale the use of modern technology in soil testing.

Scaling up the use of MIR, XRF and other modern

6. What are your expectations out of this meeting and
GLOSOLAN?
-To revive the collaboration and mutual training among
soil testing laboratories building on the gains from
SPALNA (Soil and Plant analytical Laboratories Network of Africa)
-To facilitate the establishment of credible proficiency
testing in Africa for soil labs
-Advocate for closer links of soil testing labs to the
farmers and agricultural extension services.
