2. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Primarily , I would thank god for being able to complete this project with success . Then I would like to
thank to my math teacher , RITU MA’AM whose valuable guidance has been the once that help me to
patch this project and make it full proof success , her suggestion has served as a major contribution
toward completing this project .
Then I would like to thank to my parents and friends who have helped me with their valuable
suggestion and guidance which have been helpful to me .
4. INTRODUCTION
Sikkim is a state in northeastern India. It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region of China in the north and northeast, Bhutan in the
east, Nepal in the west, and West Bengal in the south. Sikkim is also close to India's Siliguri Corridor near Bangladesh. Sikkim is
the least populous and second smallest among the Indian states. A part of the Eastern Himalaya, Sikkim is notable for its biodiversity,
including alpine and subtropical climates, as well as being a host to Kangchenjunga, the highest peak in India and third highest on
Earth. Sikkim's capital and largest city is Gangtok. Almost 35% of the state is covered by the Khangchendzonga National Park –
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
5. AGRICULTURE
The economy of Sikkim is linked with agriculture that serves as the source of livelihood and economic security of sizeable native population. The growth,
however, has been restricted because of biotic and abiotic factors. It is estimated that over 80 per cent of the rural population depends on agriculture and
allied sectors for economic, food, and nutritional security. The agriculture systems practiced in Sikkim are integrated in natures that have evolved through
years of experimentation by the farmers. A marginal improvement in the lifestyle of the farmers has been witnessed with the adoption of modern
technologies.
Sikkim State has some inherent strength that largely supports organic farming. The policies and programmers on organic farming, in tune with our
natural endowment envisage making Sikkim a Model Organic State.
The march towards organic farming has led to substantial departmental intervention. A large number of initiatives have been taken by the Agriculture
and Horticulture departments.

8. MATHEMATICS IN AGRICULTURE
• Within the broad concept of farming, there are two very important elements: time and money. At the root
of both of these is mathematics. Mathematics has enabled farming to be more economically efficient and
has increased productivity. Farmers use mathematics as a system of organization to effectively utilize their
time and manage their money. Farmers use numbers everyday for a variety of tasks, from measuring and
weighing, to land marking. I intend to explore some of the ways math is used in farming.
9. • Obviously, numbers are an integral part of farming. Locations and machines are commonly described or
labeled with numbers. More importantly, however, is what these numbers mean. The numbers are not
arbitrarily assigned; they have a purpose. Consider land locations. A sample land location, where I live in
Saskatchewan, Canada, is SE 32 – 15 – 8 – W3. These numbers mean that this particular piece of land is
located in the southeast quarter of section 32, township 15, range 8, west of the 3rd meridian. The province
of Saskatchewan is divided into 36 sections within a township. Further, each section is separated into four
quarters. In this way, rural Saskatchewan can find specific land locations based on numerical
directions. This is a recognized mathematical system.
10. MATHEMATIC BEHIND BAMBOO
FURNITURE
• Bamboo is a multipurpose that is very productive aesthetic and protective furniture . It has even
used for many application and supported many major industries such as housing , construction ,
handicraft , furniture making and food production bamboo play an essential role in daily life of
people of Sikkim . It contributes to the economy . Bamboo craft portrays various designs patterns
and symmetries which are evident through their mathematical structure.
11. • the diagrams depict when bamboo craft and how these mathematics concepts are applied and
associated in these products . it shows the process of bamboo weaving which start with layering of
the bamboo strip vertically called the weft . The vertical strip should be equal distance and
parallel to each other. The bamboo craft manufacture starts to weave the base perpendicular to
the laid bamboo strips , which is called the wrap . The bamboo strips are considered as lines. After
the base is done , the bamboo craft manufacture uses source thinner bamboo strips to make the
embroidery at the point of intersection . PICTURE OF BAMBOO FURNITURE
