These include low family income or unemployment, lacking a computer/internet, fewer books, no study space, less money for trips or equipment, poorer diet and health, difficulty funding further education, needing part-time jobs, attending lower-quality schools with high teacher turnover, and less access to pre-school programs. Government programs have aimed to address socioeconomic disadvantages affecting education.
