The indie genre has a distinct look when it
comes to its front cover. The minimal look
defines it. There are simple cover lines that
mostly explain the main image or is a
summary of the whole issue. I will definitely
adapt think simplistic look in order for my
magazine to thrive as an indie music
magazine and to emphasise the association
of it with the indie genre. The masthead of
an indie magazine is prominent, like most
genres and themes of magazine, it is large,
bold and positioned at the top of the page. I
will look to this layout when positioning my
masthead as it is a big part of my magazine
as ‘Libertie’ connotes the whole meaning of
indie. In order, to help my masthead look
most effective I feel favourable towards the
idea of a close up as my main image as the
cover then requires minimal cover lines and
a comfortable amount of attention on the
masthead.
