2. This masthead is plain white throughout the wording,
but within the letters, b,o,a, and d, there is the colours
red, yellow, blue and green. This could be representing
that on the front of the magazine it doesn’t give away
much, but within the magazine is a lot more interesting
and fun. The font is very plain and simple. Within some
fonts, every letter of the masthead is capital letter, but
with this title only the first letter is capital. I believe the
target audience would be teens to young adults, from
around the age of 14-25 years old. I say this because
the artists on the front cover are always artists in the
charts at the moment, and also the title is quite
colourful and bubbly, representing youth. I believe this
genre is pop music as the artists are mostly pop, and
also the title represents a pop feel with the colour in
between the letters.
3. This masthead is a red, grey, and black, 3D looking
masthead. Even though most of the title is covered by
a head, it is such a well know magazine that we can
easily still know what it says. It says rolling stones.
The main writing is red, then it is outlined with a grey
outline, then there is a black shadow/3D effect
underneath the writing. I believe the target audience
would be an older generation/ middle aged, from
around 25-45. I say this because the rolling stones is
quite an old band, and some of the artists in who they
are advertising are not very well know to the younger
generation. I believe they are trying to get a younger
audience to also want to by the magazines by bringing
in popular celebrities that are in the charts at the
moment to be on their magazine front covers. I believe
that the genre of this magazine is rock and roll and
blues. I say this because of the title name.
4. This masthead is very plain, all in capitals, and very bold.
The colour is white and it is a very straight and neat font.
I believe the target audience would be to everyone who
listens to music in the top 40. I say this because it seems
quite a generalised magazine. The front cover doesn’t
give away much apart from about the artist in which we
see on the front. I believe the genre is again quite a wide
variety of genres and that this magazine just represents
upcoming music and music in the charts at that moment
in time.
5. This masthead stands out. This is because it takes up a lot
of the page and also that it is very brightly coloured. The
wording itself “xxl” is in white bold font. But it is surrounded
in a rectangular shape with bright red. I believe the
audience would be older teens to adults from around the
age of 17-35. I would say that it would be more targeted to
boys. The genre I think this magazine would write about
would be rap and grime as all of the artists on the front
covers seem/look/ and dress like rappers. They wear a lot
of bling and
6. HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?
They are all different as they all use different fonts,
sizes, shapes and colours. Some are at the side,
whilst some are in the middle. Some are very well
know names whilst some are upcoming and not very
know.
