Essay on Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth
Babe Ruth is an American hero. He transformed baseball from a sport, to a national pastime when
it needed it the most. Coming off of the wake of the Black
Socks scandal, baseball was headed downhill. It had a bad reputation, and interest was waning. The
dead ball era was dragging on, and there were to few baseball purists left to support it. Baseball was
in search of a new audience, and Babe Ruth handed it to them on a silver platter. Babe Ruth
started the Home run era of baseball. In the dead ball scores of 2 1 1 0 was the norm. With the
advent of the Home run era, games that averaged 1 2 runs an inning were common.
What once took a couple hits, walks, and a stolen base to accomplish were being done with the ...

Mary who were poor, or orphans.
Brother Mathias was the one who introduced Babe to baseball, as a recreational game to play
during the spring. It wasn t long until Babe was the only 13 year old playing on the 16 years and
older team. First as a catcher, then later as a Pitcher. It was here that he first established a
prowess for hitting. His long home runs would leave local audiences speechless. It was his
pitching, however that landed him his first professional job. Jack Dunn of the then minor league
Baltimore Orioles signed him at the young age of 17. He played a few years for the Orioles, until
Dunn sold him to the Boston Red Sox. Babe pitched well, finally breaking into the Red Sox
starting rotation in 1918. Then the Red Sox ran into some hard luck, and in search of money sold
him for the then huge amount of money, 125,000.
It is often said that New York and Babe Ruth were made for one another, and by the way Babe
took New York by storm, it is hard to dispute the saying. He took an instant liking to the big city,
enjoying bars, dance clubs and people in general. It was in New York that Babe started the long
ball game. In the early twenty s Babe s home run totals usually eclipsed that of any other TEAM in
baseball. After a few years however, people began to pattern there swing after babe, and pretty soon
each team had their own home run experts. The boom in run

Pros And Cons Of Fear Of Super Intelligence
Should we be scared of super intelligence? Superintelligence is an artificial intelligence that has
its own brain and can develop its own thoughts which is likely to be smarter than human in every
aspects including ability to work and social skills. Superintelligence can come in many forms of
technology including computers and robots. In today s world, there are many evidences which
prove that superintelligence exists in our society. There is no doubt why people to be scared of
this kind of technology that can think and make decisions on its own. With its abilities to evolve

According to Arend Hintze, there are four different types of fear about artificial intelligence
including fear of unforeseen, fear of misuse, fear of wrong social priorities, and fear of the
nightmare scenario; the first fear being fear of unforeseen. Even if the designers of the
superintelligence think they can control what they have made, they might not understand what
the machine is thinking. One of the examples of the real world being AlphaGo, the computer
program, have beaten the professional go player from South korea, Lee Sedol, who is one of the
best go players in the world. Go is one of the most complex board games with the most simple
rules where there are two players in which each one of them takes turn placing one of the stones
given (black or white) onto the 19 by 19 grid board. The purpose of the game is to create as
much territories surrounded by their own stones as possible. Once a player s stones are circled by
the other player s stones, those stones need to be removed from the board. Since there is no
artificial intelligence that have ever beat the brain of human before, the Alpha go, which was
developed by a team of twenty people, is considered one of the superintelligence. These kinds of
artificial intelligence system that can defeat human s brain could turn into something scary in the
future. Thus, humans should be aware of superintelligence and be responsible of what they have

Failure Of Failure After Failure
As my first semester of college is coming to an end, I would like to reflect on my experience here
within the Honors 120 and 121 class on Failure and the Question Wheel. I chose this class on
failure because I have always held myself to such high standards that I hoped to be able to find a
way to accept failure in some instances. Within our first week in class, we made claims about
failure. My favorite claim was that every failure is in some way a success. Although this claim was
not very debatable and incredibly generic, I was able to really let my mind explore what it was
trying to say. Throughout the semester I experienced failure after failure, but that allowed me to
see that success can still be achieved within failures. One major failure I experienced throughout
the entire semester was my failure to speak up in class. In the beginning of the school year I
failed to speak up mainly because I was shy and being around all new people whom I did not know
made me feel very anxious. I thought that my anxietyabout this class would lessen over time as I
got to know my fellow classmates. However, as time went on I realized that while a majority of
my classmates share these anxious feelings with me, the other students that had been speaking up
are very strong willed and can be judgmental at times. I then realized that I was scared to speak
up in class because I feared that my ideas were not deep enough or that the normal speakers would
think I was stupid. I feared

independence and doesn t perceive her as a mule. She is seen as an equal. The symbol of the
horizon is repeated throughout the novel; to Janie, the horizon symbolizes her of the possibilities,
that which she can dream about. During her arranged marriage with Logan Killicks, he claims to
be a great partner to her but in reality, he only showed glimpses of the horizon to her. The only
meaning that he provides a temporary her with a vision of what her life could be like. Though

provides Janie with access to the horizon. In her marriage with Tea Cake, Janie is able to find

Girish Karnad is one of the foremost playwrights of the contemporary Indian stage. He has given
the Indian theatre a richness that could probably be equated only with his talents as an actor
director. His contribution goes beyond theatre: he has directed feature films, documentaries and

and Kannada art films, commercial movies and television serials. He has represented Indian in

playwright that he is at his best. He confesses, I have been fairly lucky in having a multi pronged
career. You know, I have been an actor, a publisher, and a film maker. But in none of these fields
have I felt quite as much at home as in playwriting. In India, unfortunately, the writers cannot live
on their writing alone; it does not yield enough royalties for sustenance. Karnad says, One can t
earn a comfortable living even from a successful play. Take Tughlaq,. As we know, it s been
enormously successful В¬critically as well as in performance. Playwrights in the west have been
able to retire on such successes or at least, to devote themselves to that activity entirely. I can t.
Today Girish Karnad considered one of the most significant Indian dramatists. He has enriched the
Indian literary scene by his contribution to art, culture, theatre and drama. It is most befitting that

Innate Learning With Phonological Or Oral Language
Though the human body and brain combination, does posses an innate learning and instinctual
understanding, there is also a predominate component of almost undetectable, innate teaching
(Sorensen, 2016) and learning necessary from the very beginning of life. A toddler, who has been

Teacher assessments are paramount in allowing the teacher to find out what the student requires for
their individual process of learning. Literacy levels need to be diligently assessed, recorded and
acted upon repeatedly. Just as you teach to the individual, so too must your assessment be flexible
(University of Wisconsin Green Bay, n.d.), particularly in the early learning years. Whether using a
running record an informal reading inventory, reading logs in a portfolio or a rubric, (University of
Wisconsin Green Bay, n.d.), the scaffolded learning components, of the emergent learning stages
are the quintessential requirements necessary for the learning journey towards becoming a fluent

Schooling year levels, as the children progress, the children are introduced to more formal
structures of assessment so as to become accustomed to a uniformed style of assessment. Such
assessments may differ depending on if the school follows State or Federal curriculum structures,

The Circle Of Life Sequoia Analysis
The Manifest Destiny in the United States ended at the coast of California for there was no more
land ready to be discovered. Having reached the end of the Manifest Destiny the Americans began
to settle throughout California and due to the settlements, it caused the creation of different culture
and history to appear and vary within each region. As a result, certain regions like Sacramento
became rich with culture and history. In the reading of Notes from a Native Daughter by Didion
and the painting titled The Circle of Life, Sequoiaby Roland Lee both talked about the preservation
of the history of Californiathrough their writing and visuals. However, these two sources may seem

For instance, the similarity of the reading and painting revolves around the idea of preserving the
history of California. In the painting, it concentrates on the idea of the preservation of California
s history through the visual of the giant sequoia tree that acts as the historian of the state. In the
reading, it adds onto the idea of preserving the history of the state through Didion s address of
Sacramento s transition from an agriculture to a more technological based region. Having Didion
address this issue, this shows her concern for preserving the history of Sacramento. Being
Sacramento the capital of California it represents the state because of the migration influx that
caused the region to diverse with culture and diversity just like the entirety of the state, therefore,
creates this notion of Sacramento being the real California. On a different note, the painting
created a sense of pride of being Californians. In the painting, the giant sequoia adds onto the
uniqueness of California because the trees are only found in California according to an online
article titled Giant Sequoias and Redwoods: The Largest and Tallest Trees that states that giant
sequoias are found, in 77 scattered groves in Northern California , (Szalay). Nevertheless, having
the giant sequoias found mostly in California creates a symbol of uniqueness for the state. This

The Future Of Electric Cars Essay
Electric cars are becoming very popular in today s world and are becoming more main stream.
One reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For
the majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine
that would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and
also creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very
clean and pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this
paper we are going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car
technology, and peer into the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer
to dramatically reducing our global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the
electric motor led to the first electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of
the electric car to just one inventor or country so several inventors have been given credit for the
invention of the electric car. A Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered
by an electric motor in 1828. And roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of
Scotland invented a crude electric carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland
built another small electric car with his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor
named Thomas

Power In Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar playing at A Noise Within Theatre in May 2015 was designed to exemplify, power
and the abuse of it . With secondary themes such as friendship, allegiance, and the harms of pride,
directors Geoff Elliot and Julia Rodriguez Elliot attempt to turn this classic Shakespearian tragedy
into a play applicable to modern times. As emphasized by Elliot in the program guide, Our Rome is
one that moves through time (Slooboda pg5). Furthermore, the directors set out to highlight
government corruption, the ideals of Democracy, and tyranny; the play Julius Caesar, explores what
freedom is built upon (as stated by Elliot).
The story begins with Caesar s return to Rome after defeating Pompey. A soothsayer warns Caesar
of upcoming danger, but Caesar ignores him and continues with his victory celebration. Cassius
Brutus, now alone and in fear of the ambitious Caesar, believe he will turn the Roman Republic into
a tyrannical monarch and conspire to murder him. He is murdered, just as the soothsayer warned, at

Sympathy In Truman Capote s In Cold Blood
In Truman Capote s novel based upon non fictional events, In Cold Blood the reader is set up to
feel remorseful for the murderers in the text. The same set of feelings are bestowed upon the
viewers in the movie Capote directed by Bennett Miller. The novel is based around the story of the
1959 Clutter family murder in the community of Holcomb, Kansas. The film adaptation is more
structured around the life of Truman Capote(Phillip Seymour Hoffman) throughout the time he was
creating In Cold Blood; therefore, more behind the scenes analysis took place even though the film
is fictional. Sympathy drags in the spectator of a text or film much greater than any other emotion.
It creates a personal bond between the characters being depicted and themselves. This bond of
sympathy can become even greater when it is known that the characters being bonded to the
spectator are based upon real people and their events. Sympathy is built by Truman Capotethrough
characterization and imagery while Bennett Miller builds sympathy through clever screenwriting
and casting the correct personalities. While Dick Hickock (Mark Pellegrino) and Perry Smith
(Clifton Collins Jr.) were brutal murderers, their notoriety brought in so much fear that more... Show

The company managed to increase its sales by 15 percent in a single year by determining which
important attributes it was best at providing and focusing on the buyers that valued them most.
Conjoint analysis and needs based segmentation
So many companies segment their customers by size and other such criteria because this approach
is easy to carry out, and the companies falling into these gross categories do tend to have similar
needs. But to have a truly actionable segmentation scheme, you must divide your customers into
much more precise groupings based specifically on their needs.
SHEDDING THE COMMODITY MIND SET
81
In the business to consumer (B2C) market, this kind of segmentation is often quite hard to
undertake because the obvious differences among customers age, income, geography, and so on
usually don t correspond to their preferences for, say, shampoos, books, or even clothing. To solve
this problem, consumer goods companies have developed elaborate statistical mechanisms, such as
dual objective segmentation.1 But because these complicated algorithms are not typically used by
business to business (B2B) suppliers, those companies divide their world by weak identifiers
such as size and geography. The good news is that B2B companies don t necessarily need to use
elaborate and sophisticated methods; only a large consumer goods customer base often comprising
millions of individuals demands them. In many B2B markets, 25, 15, or even just 10 customers

I m Looking For Being Smart
After giving this assignment a few good thoughts, I ve come to pick ten traits that I feel is the
most important when seeking for that special person. The first trait I m looking for is empathy. I
feel like empathy is a priority when seeking for a partner because I want to have someone whom I
can share my thoughts with, this is the person that will cheer me up when I m down and support
me when I needit most. The second trait is being positive. When seeking for a mate, I like
someone who is always cheerful and bright. I believe if I interact with this person long enough,
their positivity will rub onto me. The next trait is a personal preference, but I like a person who is
not too tall or too short. Someone around the five foot mark is the ideal height for me. The
fourth trait I m looking for is being smart. I like my mate to have a smart personality because I

Ebola is spread by body fluids such as blood, spit and vomit. Though most hospitals are putting
these patients in negative pressure rooms that don t share air with the room next door, hospitals
could easily isolate an Ebola patient in a regular room, Bartleson said. The key is identifying
possible cases up front. Symptoms include fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, weakness,

They struggle to develop health and safety performance measures which are not based solely on
injury and ill health statistics. The traditional approach to measuring health and safety performance
If managing directors or CEOs were asked how they measured their companies performance, they
would probably mention measures like percentage profit, return on investment or market share. A
common feature of the measures quoted would be that they are generally positive in nature
reflecting achievement rather than negative, reflecting failure.
If the same people were asked how they measured their companies health and safety performance, it
is likely that the only measure quoted would be injury statistics. While the general business
performance of an organisation is subject to a range of positive measures, for health and safety it
too often

comes down to one negative measure, injury and ill health statistics measures of failures.
Health and safety differs from many areas measured by managers because success results in the
absence of an outcome (injuries or ill health) rather than a presence. But a low injury or ill health
rate, even over a period of years, is no guarantee that risks are being controlled and will not lead
to injuries or ill health in the future. This is particularly true in organisations where there is a low
probability of accidents but where major hazards are present. Here the historical record can be a

Gas Station Monologue
It was at around Thursday midnight, whereby I stopped at a gas station in chesterfield. There
was a group of four to six people outside the gas station engaged in an interesting conversation
which I don t know about. The group was made of white people aged from around 30 40 years
old. That is when I remembered of my psychology assignment. So I blasted my music to the max
and started singing along out loud while pumping gas into my car. I was so uncomfortable doing
this because I didn t even know the lyrics to the song. The group looked at me in an awkward
manner and started laughing at me. They went inside the gas station and kept looking outside while
they were still laughing. I acted like I didn t notice them at all and continued. One of... Show more

I literally started laughing at myself. Looking on the bright side, I made a fool out of myself
and enjoyed it for a moment and I at least got one thing done from my bucket list. I think the
main reason I was embarrassed was because of the fear of being judged by others. I was afraid of
people seeing me as a fool. I was so concerned about thy self so much that all I could think about
were the consequences of my actions. Being brought up from an eastern culture, my personality
matters a lot. I have always been taught to act in a respectable manner in front of people
especially strangers. I have always been told that I am responsible for my actions and of how
people perceive as me. With these kind of teachings going thru my head, nothing I had done
seemed to be adding anything to my life other than regrets. But then I remembered that I only
live once so my personality won t matter when I die. I believe it is good to have a good persona

Why I Ukrainian Art As A Multicultural Society
She interviewed 28 respondents during 1.5 2 hours with each person and documented in total 411
Ukrainian items. For her data analysis she used model developed by (35) LeCompte and Schensul,
who voted for categorizing objects according to three levels: item, pattern and structural levels. She
categorized art objects according to their types, geographical origin, functions, means of acquisition,
and meanings. In the result of her study Anna received big amount of quantitative data that she
placed in tables in accordance with her analysis criteria. Her findings are based on empirical data
that she collected. During her research Anna developed new approaches into studying art,
introduced new classification of art that was more relevant to the study objectives. She obtained
conclusions about what is regarded to be Ukrainian art as connected to maintenance of ethnic
identity in a multicultural society.
Anat Hecht, on the other side, is an outsider to the British culture. She is from Israel and works at

Love and Selfishness in Love in L.A. by Dagoberto Gilb Essay
Love and Selfishness in Love in L.A. by Dagoberto Gilb
Love in L.A., written by Dagoberto Gilb, is a story full of irony and multiple themes. The story is
set in Hollywood during the summer time. Written in third person objective, Love in L.A. guides
the reader along through the story as opposed to an omniscient point of view.
The story begins with Jake driving on the freeway. He is so enraptured by his daydream of better
possibilities that he ends up smacking the car ahead of him. Jake considers driving away but
instead he stops and finds out that the owner of the Toyota he hit was a beautiful girl. From there,
Jake switches into his smooth talker role with Mariana. Jake then tries to con her by saying he

He needed an FM radioIt would have crushed velvet interior with electric controlexotic colognes all
of these contribute to the theme of selfishness and greed. He does not need an FM radio but rather
wants one. Everything he wants contributes to his rapaciousness.
The most prevalent theme in this story is loneliness. Jake is obviously lonely, so much so that
he stoops to such pathetic lines as, I m kinda hoping so, just so it takes a little more time and we
can talk some. Or else you can give me your phone number now and I won t have to lay my
regular b.s. on you to get it later. His loneliness also shows when Gilb describes how, her hand
felt so warm and soft he felt like he d been kissed. Jake seems to crave the human intimacy of
love, and yet all he does is flirt with a woman whom he does not even care for enough to be
truthful to. This is also situational irony. Corresponding with this theme of loneliness is the
concept that everyone is looking for love. This need is very evident in Jake and is also displayed
in Mariana. No intelligent female would even relent a little in the face of such an apparent
swindler as Jake. However, Mariana must be a little flattered and lonely because she smiles at his
attentions and even makes small talk with him.
Among these themes, lies another one; there are infinite possibilities. Any one person can meet
their match at any time. For Jake, Mariana could have

Data Warehouses and Data Marts: A Dynamic View By Joseph M. Firestone, Ph.D. White Paper
No. Three March 27, 1997
Patterns of Data Mart Development In the beginning, there were only the islands of information:
the operational data stores and legacy systems that needed enterprise wide integration; and the data
warehouse: the solution to the problem of integration of diverse and often redundant corporate
information assets. Data marts were not a part of the vision. Soon though, it was clear that the
vision was too sweeping. It is too difficult, too costly, too impolitic, and requires too long a
development period, for many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, its relation to the data warehouse turns the first pattern of development on its head.
Here multiple data marts are parents to the data warehouse, which evolves from them organically.
The third pattern of development attempts to synthesize and remove the conflict inherent in the
first two. Here data marts are seen as developing in parallel with the data warehouse. Both
develop from islands of information, but data marts don t have to wait for the data warehouse to
be implemented. It is enough that each data mart is guided by the enterprise data model
developed for the data warehouse, and is developed in a manner consistent with this data model.
Then the data marts can be finished quickly, and can be modified later when the enterprise data
warehouse is finished. These three patterns of data mart development have in common a
viewpoint that does not explicitly consider the role of user feedback in the development process.
Each view assumes that the relationship between data warehouses and data marts is relatively
static. The data mart is a subset of the data warehouse, or the data warehouse is an outgrowth of
the data marts, or there is parallel development, with the data marts guided by the data warehouse
data model, and ultimately superseded by the data warehouse, which provides a final answer to the
islands of information problem. Whatever view is taken, the role of users in the dynamics of data

is a skill that they have learned and perfected through many years of teachings. Do not make the

be passed from person to person (contagious).
CAUSES
This condition is caused by a fungus. Several types of fungi can cause the infection. These fungi are
common in moist and warm areas. If your hands or feet come into contact with the fungus, it may
get into a crack in your fingernail or toenail and cause the infection.
RISK FACTORS
This condition is more like to develop in:
Males.

DIAGNOSIS
This condition is diagnosed with a physical exam. Your health care provider may take a scraping or
clipping from your nail to test for the fungus.
TREATMENT
Mild infections do not need treatment. If you have significant nail changes, treatment may include:
Antifungal nail polish and nail cream. These may be used along with oral antifungal medicines.
Oral antifungal medicines. You may need to take the medicine for several weeks to several months
and results may take longer to see. These medicines can cause side effects. Ask your health care
provider what to watch out for.
Laser treatment of the nail.
Surgery to remove the nail. This may be needed for the most severe infections.
Treatment takes a long time and the infection may come back.

Project Proposal ( Option 3 )
Project Proposal (option 3)
Name: Yao Yang UNI: yy2641
The common theme my project will be focuses on is K means clustering.
The k means clustering problem can be described as following:
Given a set of n data points in d dimensional space R^d and an integer k. Find a set of k points
/centers in R^d, such that the mean squared distance from each data point to its nearest centre (one
of the k centers) is minimized.
Paper Summaries:
A local search approximation algorithm for k means clustering (2004)
The paper considered whether there exists a simple and practical approximation algorithm for k
means clustering.
It brings up the classical tradeoff between run time and approximation factor.
A local improvement heuristic based on swapping centers in and out that yields a (9 + Пµ)
approximation algorithm is presented. The paper also shows that any approach based on
performing a fixed number of swaps achieves an approximation factor of at least (9 Пµ) in all
sufficiently high dimensions by providing example.
In summary, the approximation factor is almost tight for algorithms based on methods that perform
fixed number swaps as shown by the paper.
The effectiveness of Lloyd type methods for the k means problem (2006)
This paper show that if the data satisfies a natural condition on separation/clusterability, then a near
optimal clustering result can be expected as various Lloyd style methods would have great
performance in such setting.

Tom Brennan And What s Eating Gilbert Grape
Does going through transition have a huge influence in your life? Good afternoon. Transition is
the process or period of changing from one state to another. Every single one of us have
experienced both positive and negative changes throughout our lives that have had an impact on
our attitudes and behaviour. The novel by J.C Burke The story of Tom Brennan and the film What
s eating Gilbert Grape? by Lasse Hallström both explore the notion of personal development being
caused by an individuals approach towards transformation.
A person s attitude is shaped by the individual s personal growth throughout life.

Since Daniel and Tom do not get along with each other very well Tom eventually decides to step
up and face forward one of his fears, to visit his brother who is in jail after his terrible mistake
and decision to drink drive. I want to see Daniel this weekend. This states that Tom wants to be
fearless for once and go and see his brother and tell him what is happening with the rest of the
family and how they are feeling after what had happened. In parallel to the film, Arnie is sort of
like a reminder to the audience that his mental state of a little boy acting childish wants to climb
the water tower. The shot is shallow because only one dimension is focused on Arnie while the
water tower is out of focus. In a way the water tower symbolizes the burden that Gilbert has been in
as the main supporter of the family, taking care of Arnie as his mother, Bonnie is obese due to the
fact that her husband has died and she has not been out of the house for 7 years which proves
that she can not take the role and responsibility of taking care of her children because she has
fallen into a depressive state. Arnie has been climbing up the tower many times and has been
warned by the police that if he does climb up once more he would get arrested. We warned you,
we warned your sister, that the next time is going to be the last time. This lead to his

Differences Between The Movie And Movie
COMPARATIVE ESSAY OF THE DOCUMENTARY AND FILM Flight 571 The Andes Plane
Crash On the 13th of October 1972, a plane which carried Uruguayan union rugby player team
from to a match in Chile crashed, in an area in the Andes what was known as The Valley of Tears .
They were stranded for 72 days in the harsh, unfamiliar environments; their story of survival would
soon amaze and disturb the world, becoming the basis for a documentary named I am Alive:
Surviving the Andes Plane Crash (2010) and the movie Alive (1993). A documentary and a movie
are two similar, yet different things. They both (re)tell a story, but have different purposes most
documentaries are made with the point to inform, and movies purely for entertainment. This means
that certain parts of the movie may have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alas, the circumstances had become so dire they had no choice but to resort to anthropophagy a
term used by Parrado himself. Cannibalism is consuming the flesh of someone killed/injured by
your hand, so technically he was correct. The survivors made promises to each other and bonded
through their longing for their return; the extent of every man s struggle at their breaking points
was shown in both films, but I am Alive portrayed their resilience and willpower to a life changing
degree. The diverse primary sources and expert analyses constantly lead to viewers to think about
the real story behind the screen. Alive wasn t as convincing, and therefore connected less with the
watchers. The various alterations hint that producers paid less attention to the truth and detail,
instead focusing on entertaining the audience. But Flight 571 is a story that cannot be entirely told
by a group of actors, experts and even the survivors themselves; it s an event that people will truly

Cyber Security Monitoring
To perform adaptive cyber security analytics using a computer implemented method that includes
receiving a report on a network activity, It works as follows, a scoring method is used wherein a
score responsive to the network activity is calculated. The score indicates a likelihood of security
breach. The score is validated and the scoring model is automatically updated responsive to results
of the validating. If the score falls within a threshold value of a security violation rule, the network
activity is reported as suspicious. This basically relates generally to cyber security monitoring, and
more particularly to monitoring incoming security events to determine if any activity is violating ...

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
SIEM provides services which can be broadly categorized in two parts:
1.Security event Management (SEM): Incident management and real time monitoring for all the
security related events ranging from networks, and other devices and applications.
2.Security Information Management (SIM): It includes compliance reporting and management of
logs.
SEM and SIM together serves 3 primary use cases i.e. Compliance, Threat management and the

Agatha Christie Mousetrap Play Analysis
At the Kingwood Theater, The Agatha Christie Mousetrap open to audiences at the Lone Star
College Kingwood Visual Performing Arts Theatre in Kingwood October 20, 2016. This play
has always did good historically over the last 60 years in London. The first production of the play
was in 1952, London s West End. Under the direction of Playwright Agatha Christine, Eric C.
Skiles the director, directed a great cast of actors. Who brought out humorous and suspenseful
moments through out the production. They also kept everybody on their toes till towards the end.
The main point of the play was to find a deranged serial killer on the loose. All though there is a
historical significance to this particular play, I couldn t find one through my knowledge.... Show

This production did have some theme music to it in the beginning before the lights cut on. The
actors would blare different types a music on stage but other than that it was pretty quite. Music
would come on at random times during the play. Sometimes the actors would play rock loudly
or classical music. The only sound that was consistently going on was actors talking. There was
also sound when Mrs. Boyle died by making loud stomping noises. The sound was still successful
during the play because it gave parts of the play life. There were a lot of great acting moments
during this production I enjoyed. I loved Detective Sergeant Trotter performance the most. He
brought the most passion to his character throughout the whole entire of play. Even though when
we thought he was the most innocent person during the play. Another character I liked was
Mollie Ralston because her role was questionable at times. Sometimes you wonder if she was
innocent, guilty, or should be the next victim to die. The funniest actor was Christopher Wren
because of his hilarious moments. People in the audience would laugh with he had a goofy line
to say. The things I couldn t enjoy is a couple of actors who weren t understandable. These
characters were Giles Ralston and Mr. Paravicini because of their accents they had to betray. If
they could of spoke louder, the performances would of been better. One thing the actors should of
not done was turn their backs to audience. We couldn t see there face half of the

The Decision Of Withdrawal From Life Sustaining Treatment
Introduction The NMC (2015) are the providers of the Nursing Code of Conduct. The code
contains the professional standards to which all nurses must uphold, allowing for accountability
of patients that come into their care. As well as the code of conduct, all nursing professionals
have a responsibility to develop their knowledge in relation to law within clinical practice, and
furthermore, ethical frameworks that are linked to judgment and decision making when
providing care (Savage Moore, 2006). In light of this, the overall aim of this essay is to
elaborate on issues surrounding law and ethics in nursing. To do so, a case study has been
chosen from a previous clinical experience. The focus of the case study will be on the decision
of withdrawal from life sustaining treatment. Emphasis will be largely on the law and ethics
concerning the issue of withdrawal from treatment. Moreover, the ethics and law involved in the
palliative/advanced end of life care planning and decision making. In order to protect the identity
and uphold the confidentiality of the case study, a pseudonym will be used throughout. Hendrick

Redefining Genocide
Redefining Genocide Genocide, one of mankind s most terrible invention, officially became a
crime in 1948. Millions of individuals around the world have unfortunately had to endure this
monster since then. In his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel insists
that human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere, . Being a Holocaust
survivor, Elie Wiesel understands how important it is for individuals around the world to
recognize when human suffering, or a genocide is happening, so the world can stop it
immediately. However, many groups of individuals are still not protected from the horrors of
genocide, and are not able to receive the help that the UN could provide if they were included.
Therefore, the United Nations should amend its definition of genocide to include an individual s
sexual orientation, sex, and age.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Pakistan, thousands of women are dying each year because they are being accused of
dishonoring their families. The reason is rooted in sexual inequality in such countries, Terence
McCoy insists. Individuals are killing just women, and a genocide is not technically being
committed because sex is not protected under the UN s definition. Not only should the UN
change its definition of genocide to include sex, but also it should change its definition to
include age. The United Nations should amend its definition of genocide to include an
individual s age. In Iraq, many elderly people are being murdered. In Tara West s article, she
emphasizes, For those women viewed as too old for the sex trade, it appears that a mass grave
was created and the women were shot before being tossed into the dirt. A person s age is not
protected under the UN s definition of genocide, meaning that the perpetrators of this crime are not
being punished. If the UN s definition was changed, then elderly people will not be killed just for
being too

The Vikings First Training Camp
I woke up the morning of July 30th with a smile on my face. Little did I know, that smile was
going to be one of my last.
The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in
sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing
with brushing my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and
said, You made it . After all, I was only 2 short hours from making my way to the Minnesota Vikings
first training camp practice of the 2001 NFL season, located near the hotel I was staying in, in
Mankato. Although, that wasn t the only reason why I credited myself. I have been known to
struggle with my weight in the past, but I felt good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I figured that the heat was getting to me. In my pads, the heat felt as if it was over 110 degrees,
like I was the only one in the desert, and had gone without water for days. In all reality it was only
in the low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss
or Carter. A bit discouraged, I went back to the hotel room and took a nice cold shower and basked
in the cool air conditioning afterwards.
Later in the day, my wife pointed out to me that there was a picture of me in the newspaper,
vomiting. When I saw that picture for the first time my stomach turned. I thought I was going to
throw up again. It was incredibly humiliating and I knew I couldn t let the people who looked up
to me the most see me like that. Not my teammates, my peers, my wife, my son, nobody. It was
pathetic. With that picture out in the media, I was already focused on tomorrow s practice. I was
determined to come back the next day, playing harder than ever, and proving everyone wrong.
The dining area was quieter than normal the morning of July 31st. I think everyone saw the
picture, and pitied me, even felt embarrassed for me. Despite what my teammates thought, their
pity only fed the fire that fueled my motivation, and I was positive that everyone knew that. I
arrived at practice extra early to adapt to the heat. The same heat that beat me to my knees
yesterday, and the same heat that I was going to conquer

Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Offenders
Juvenile crime is at its lowest level since 1987, falling 30% between 1994 and 1998.
Therefore it is only fair to acknowledge that the criminal justice system has made tremendous
strides in it s treatment of the typical juvenile offender. For example, there was once a time when
there was no separation between the treatment of both juvenile and adult offenders. Meanwhile
today we have separate courts for juveniles and adults which I feel is a step in the right direction
because it enforces the reality that a child s mind is different from that of an adult. I feel that the
separation is very important because it does a lot to protect the privacy of a child versus that of
an adult offender. Another example of the strides our justice system has made in recent years to
improve the treatment of juvenile offender is the fact that juvenile offenders do not have to
experience facilities such as the Houses of Refuge, which was the norm in the earlier days of
juvenile justice and crime.
It is my belief that juvenile crime is not caused single handedly by the youth themselves,
I feel that there are mitigating factors that play a huge role in this societal issue. The reason is
because of the fact that they are children at the end of the day, and a child only controls so much
of their day to day. For example, it is no secret that education is a not a priority as far as
government funding, which results in the revelation that the cost of higher education is

The Flintstones Gender Stereotypes
Although animated cartoons have long been associated with children s entertainment, many
cartoons suggest they are for adults as well. Ranging from character portrayal to perceived gender
roles, cartoons such as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Scooby Doo both reflect societal values
from their time periods as well as perpetuate the developed stereotypes. Comparing the earliest
popular cartoons to more recent productions, shows progress towards a less stereotypical character
portrayal in regards to gender. In North American culture, watching televisionis as much part of
regular life as eating supper. In an age so heavily dependent on technology, newer additions such as
Netflix enable society s massive consumption. In a New York Daily... Show more content on

Daphne is very thin, pale, has long hair, and delicate features. She is always seen in a pink and
purple dress with high heels. As for her position in the cartoon, she is relatively useless to the actual
plot, and instead is there to look pretty and act as a love interest for Fred. Velma, on the other
hand, is of a stockier build, has short hair, and wears thick rimmed glasses. She is seen in a red
and yellow dress with knee socks. Unlike Daphne, Velma has a useful role in the storyline
because of her immense knowledge. Despite having a superior personality, Velma is rarely ever
portrayed as desirable to any man, and is often mocked by other characters for the way she looks
and for her intelligence. Similarly to the female characters, Fred and Shaggy are portrayed as
contrasting characters. Fred is the embodiment of hegemonic masculinity. He is tall, muscular,
popular, brave, and athletic. To contrast this, there is Shaggy who is also tall, but skinny, unkempt,
lazy, and cowardly. Fred s role in the story is to be the group s leader, come up with plans, and be
popular with he female characters. Shaggy, in contrast, is the comedic relief. The representation of

  • 2. Essay on Babe Ruth Babe Ruth Babe Ruth is an American hero. He transformed baseball from a sport, to a national pastime when it needed it the most. Coming off of the wake of the Black Socks scandal, baseball was headed downhill. It had a bad reputation, and interest was waning. The dead ball era was dragging on, and there were to few baseball purists left to support it. Baseball was in search of a new audience, and Babe Ruth handed it to them on a silver platter. Babe Ruth started the Home run era of baseball. In the dead ball scores of 2 1 1 0 was the norm. With the advent of the Home run era, games that averaged 1 2 runs an inning were common. It wasn t long until Babe was the only 13 year old playing on the 16 years and older team. First as a catcher, then later as a Pitcher. It was here that he first established a prowess for hitting. His long home runs would leave local audiences speechless. It was his pitching, however that landed him his first professional job. Jack Dunn of the then minor league Baltimore Orioles signed him at the young age of 17. He played a few years for the Orioles, until Dunn sold him to the Boston Red Sox. Babe pitched well, finally breaking into the Red Sox starting rotation in 1918. Then the Red Sox ran into some hard luck, and in search of money sold him for the then huge amount of money, 125,000. It is often said that New York and Babe Ruth were made for one another, and by the way Babe took New York by storm, it is hard to dispute the saying. He took an instant liking to the big city, enjoying bars, dance clubs and people in general. It was in New York that Babe started the long ball game. According to Arend Hintze, there are four different types of fear about artificial intelligence including fear of unforeseen, fear of misuse, fear of wrong social priorities, and fear of the nightmare scenario; the first fear being fear of unforeseen. Even if the designers of the superintelligence think they can control what they have made, they might not understand what the machine is thinking. One of the examples of the real world being AlphaGo, the computer program, have beaten the professional go player from South korea, Lee Sedol, who is one of the best go players in the world. Go is one of the most complex board games with the most simple rules where there are two players in which each one of them takes turn placing one of the stones given (black or white) onto the 19 by 19 grid board. The purpose of the game is to create as much territories surrounded by their own stones as possible. Once a player s stones are circled by the other player s stones, those stones need to be removed from the board. Since there is no artificial intelligence that have ever beat the brain of human before, the Alpha go, which was developed by a team of twenty people, is considered one of the superintelligence. • 4. Failure Of Failure After Failure As my first semester of college is coming to an end, I would like to reflect on my experience here within the Honors 120 and 121 class on Failure and the Question Wheel. I chose this class on failure because I have always held myself to such high standards that I hoped to be able to find a way to accept failure in some instances. Within our first week in class, we made claims about failure. My favorite claim was that every failure is in some way a success. Although this claim was not very debatable and incredibly generic, I was able to really let my mind explore what it was trying to say. Throughout the semester I experienced failure after failure, but that allowed me to see that success can still be achieved within failures. One major failure I experienced throughout the entire semester was my failure to speak up in class. In the beginning of the school year I failed to speak up mainly because I was shy and being around all new people whom I did not know made me feel very anxious. I thought that my anxietyabout this class would lessen over time as I got to know my fellow classmates. However, as time went on I realized that while a majority of my classmates share these anxious feelings with me, the other students that had been speaking up are very strong willed and can be judgmental at times. I then realized that I was scared to speak up in class because I feared that my ideas were not deep enough or that the normal speakers would think I was stupid. I feared ... In the reading, it adds onto the idea of preserving the history of the state through Didion s address of Sacramento s transition from an agriculture to a more technological based region. Having Didion address this issue, this shows her concern for preserving the history of Sacramento. Being Sacramento the capital of California it represents the state because of the migration influx that caused the region to diverse with culture and diversity just like the entirety of the state, therefore, creates this notion of Sacramento being the real California. • 12. The Future Of Electric Cars Essay Electric cars are becoming very popular in today s world and are becoming more main stream. One reason for this is the need for automobiles that have a lower or a zero carbon footprint. For the majority of the history of the automobile, the propulsion system was a gas or a diesel engine that would run off of fossil fuels. The burning of fossil fuels is very hazardous to our world and also creates much toxic pollution. However, electric cars run off of electricity, which is a very clean and pollution free resource, depending on how the electricity was produced of course. In this paper we are going to examine the history of electric cars, look into modern electric car technology, and peer into the future of electric car technology to see if EVs might be the answer to dramatically reducing our global pollution. In the 1800s the development of the battery and the electric motor led to the first electric vehicles on the road. It is hard to pinpoint the invention of the electric car to just one inventor or country so several inventors have been given credit for the invention of the electric car. A Hungarian named Anyos Jedlik invented a small model car powered by an electric motor in 1828. And roughly between the years of 1832 and 1839, Robert Anderson of Scotland invented a crude electric carriage. Also in 1835 Professor Stratingh of Groningen, Holland built another small electric car with his assistant Christopher Becker. There was another inventor named Thomas ... The same set of feelings are bestowed upon the viewers in the movie Capote directed by Bennett Miller. But to have a truly actionable segmentation scheme, you must divide your customers into much more precise groupings based speciп¬Ѓcally on their needs. SHEDDING THE COMMODITY MIND SET 81 In the business to consumer (B2C) market, this kind of segmentation is often quite hard to undertake because the obvious differences among customers age, income, geography, and so on usually don t correspond to their preferences for, say, shampoos, books, or even clothing. To solve this problem, consumer goods companies have developed elaborate statistical mechanisms, such as dual objective segmentation.1 But because these complicated algorithms are not typically used by business to business (B2B) suppliers, those companies divide their world by weak identiп¬Ѓers such as size and geography. The good news is that B2B companies don t necessarily need to use elaborate and sophisticated methods; only a large consumer goods customer base often comprising millions of individuals demands them. The story is set in Hollywood during the summer time. Written in third person objective, Love in L.A. guides the reader along through the story as opposed to an omniscient point of view. The story begins with Jake driving on the freeway. He is so enraptured by his daydream of better possibilities that he ends up smacking the car ahead of him. Jake is obviously lonely, so much so that he stoops to such pathetic lines as, I m kinda hoping so, just so it takes a little more time and we can talk some. Or else you can give me your phone number now and I won t have to lay my regular b.s. on you to get it later. His loneliness also shows when Gilb describes how, her hand felt so warm and soft he felt like he d been kissed. Jake seems to crave the human intimacy of love, and yet all he does is flirt with a woman whom he does not even care for enough to be truthful to. This is also situational irony. Corresponding with this theme of loneliness is the concept that everyone is looking for love. This need is very evident in Jake and is also displayed in Mariana. No intelligent female would even relent a little in the face of such an apparent swindler as Jake. However, Mariana must be a little flattered and lonely because she smiles at his attentions and even makes small talk with him. Among these themes, lies another one; there are infinite possibilities. Firestone, Ph.D. White Paper No. Three March 27, 1997 Patterns of Data Mart Development In the beginning, there were only the islands of information: the operational data stores and legacy systems that needed enterprise wide integration; and the data warehouse: the solution to the problem of integration of diverse and often redundant corporate information assets. Moreover, its relation to the data warehouse turns the first pattern of development on its head. Here multiple data marts are parents to the data warehouse, which evolves from them organically. The third pattern of development attempts to synthesize and remove the conflict inherent in the first two. Here data marts are seen as developing in parallel with the data warehouse. Both develop from islands of information, but data marts don t have to wait for the data warehouse to be implemented. It is enough that each data mart is guided by the enterprise data model developed for the data warehouse, and is developed in a manner consistent with this data model. Then the data marts can be finished quickly, and can be modified later when the enterprise data warehouse is finished. These three patterns of data mart development have in common a viewpoint that does not explicitly consider the role of user feedback in the development process. Each view assumes that the relationship between data warehouses and data marts is relatively static. The data mart is a subset of the data warehouse, or the data warehouse is an outgrowth of the data marts, or there is parallel development, with the data marts guided by the data warehouse data model, and ultimately superseded by the data warehouse, which provides a final answer to the islands of information problem. Find a set of k points /centers in R^d, such that the mean squared distance from each data point to its nearest centre (one of the k centers) is minimized. Paper Summaries: A local search approximation algorithm for k means clustering (2004) The paper considered whether there exists a simple and practical approximation algorithm for k means clustering. It brings up the classical tradeoff between run time and approximation factor. A local improvement heuristic based on swapping centers in and out that yields a (9 + Пµ) approximation algorithm is presented. The paper also shows that any approach based on performing a fixed number of swaps achieves an approximation factor of at least (9 Пµ) in all sufficiently high dimensions by providing example. In summary, the approximation factor is almost tight for algorithms based on methods that perform fixed number swaps as shown by the paper. Alas, the circumstances had become so dire they had no choice but to resort to anthropophagy a term used by Parrado himself. Cannibalism is consuming the flesh of someone killed/injured by your hand, so technically he was correct. The survivors made promises to each other and bonded through their longing for their return; the extent of every man s struggle at their breaking points was shown in both films, but I am Alive portrayed their resilience and willpower to a life changing degree. The diverse primary sources and expert analyses constantly lead to viewers to think about the real story behind the screen. Alive wasn t as convincing, and therefore connected less with the watchers. The various alterations hint that producers paid less attention to the truth and detail, instead focusing on entertaining the audience. • 45. Agatha Christie Mousetrap Play Analysis At the Kingwood Theater, The Agatha Christie Mousetrap open to audiences at the Lone Star College Kingwood Visual Performing Arts Theatre in Kingwood October 20, 2016. This play has always did good historically over the last 60 years in London. The first production of the play was in 1952, London s West End. Under the direction of Playwright Agatha Christine, Eric C. Skiles the director, directed a great cast of actors. Who brought out humorous and suspenseful moments through out the production. They also kept everybody on their toes till towards the end. The main point of the play was to find a deranged serial killer on the loose. All though there is a historical significance to this particular play, I couldn t find one through my knowledge.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This production did have some theme music to it in the beginning before the lights cut on. The actors would blare different types a music on stage but other than that it was pretty quite. Music would come on at random times during the play. Sometimes the actors would play rock loudly or classical music. The only sound that was consistently going on was actors talking. There was also sound when Mrs. Boyle died by making loud stomping noises. The sound was still successful during the play because it gave parts of the play life. There were a lot of great acting moments during this production I enjoyed. I loved Detective Sergeant Trotter performance the most. He brought the most passion to his character throughout the whole entire of play. Even though when we thought he was the most innocent person during the play. Another character I liked was Mollie Ralston because her role was questionable at times. Sometimes you wonder if she was innocent, guilty, or should be the next victim to die. The funniest actor was Christopher Wren because of his hilarious moments. People in the audience would laugh with he had a goofy line to say. The things I couldn t enjoy is a couple of actors who weren t understandable. These characters were Giles Ralston and Mr. Paravicini because of their accents they had to betray. If they could of spoke louder, the performances would of been better. One thing the actors should of not done was turn their backs to audience. We couldn t see there face half of the ... In his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel insists that human suffering anywhere concerns men and women everywhere, . Being a Holocaust survivor, Elie Wiesel understands how important it is for individuals around the world to recognize when human suffering, or a genocide is happening, so the world can stop it immediately. However, many groups of individuals are still not protected from the horrors of genocide, and are not able to receive the help that the UN could provide if they were included. Not only should the UN change its definition of genocide to include sex, but also it should change its definition to include age. The United Nations should amend its definition of genocide to include an individual s age. In Iraq, many elderly people are being murdered. In Tara West s article, she emphasizes, For those women viewed as too old for the sex trade, it appears that a mass grave was created and the women were shot before being tossed into the dirt. • 49. The Vikings First Training Camp I woke up the morning of July 30th with a smile on my face. Little did I know, that smile was going to be one of my last. The weather was glorious. About 90 degrees, with nothing but sun shine! Not even a cloud in sight. I jumped out of bed, and made my way to the bathroom down the hall. As I was finishing with brushing my teeth, I spit in the sink, looked at myself in the mirror with a stern glance and said, You made it . After all, I was only 2 short hours from making my way to the Minnesota Vikings first training camp practice of the 2001 NFL season, located near the hotel I was staying in, in Mankato. In all reality it was only in the low 90s. I felt so weak after practice. No one said a word after practice either, not even Moss or Carter. A bit discouraged, I went back to the hotel room and took a nice cold shower and basked in the cool air conditioning afterwards. Later in the day, my wife pointed out to me that there was a picture of me in the newspaper, vomiting. When I saw that picture for the first time my stomach turned. I thought I was going to throw up again. It was incredibly humiliating and I knew I couldn t let the people who looked up to me the most see me like that. Not my teammates, my peers, my wife, my son, nobody. It was pathetic. With that picture out in the media, I was already focused on tomorrow s practice. I was determined to come back the next day, playing harder than ever, and proving everyone wrong. The dining area was quieter than normal the morning of July 31st. I think everyone saw the picture, and pitied me, even felt embarrassed for me. Despite what my teammates thought, their pity only fed the fire that fueled my motivation, and I was positive that everyone knew that. I arrived at practice extra early to adapt to the heat. • 50. Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Offenders Juvenile crime is at its lowest level since 1987, falling 30% between 1994 and 1998. Therefore it is only fair to acknowledge that the criminal justice system has made tremendous strides in it s treatment of the typical juvenile offender. For example, there was once a time when there was no separation between the treatment of both juvenile and adult offenders. Meanwhile today we have separate courts for juveniles and adults which I feel is a step in the right direction because it enforces the reality that a child s mind is different from that of an adult. I feel that the separation is very important because it does a lot to protect the privacy of a child versus that of an adult offender. Another example of the strides our justice system has made in recent years to improve the treatment of juvenile offender is the fact that juvenile offenders do not have to experience facilities such as the Houses of Refuge, which was the norm in the earlier days of juvenile justice and crime. It is my belief that juvenile crime is not caused single handedly by the youth themselves, I feel that there are mitigating factors that play a huge role in this societal issue. The reason is because of the fact that they are children at the end of the day, and a child only controls so much of their day to day. For example, it is no secret that education is a not a priority as far as government funding, which results in the revelation that the cost of higher education is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing the earliest popular cartoons to more recent productions, shows progress towards a less stereotypical character portrayal in regards to gender. Velma, on the other hand, is of a stockier build, has short hair, and wears thick rimmed glasses. She is seen in a red and yellow dress with knee socks. Unlike Daphne, Velma has a useful role in the storyline because of her immense knowledge. Despite having a superior personality, Velma is rarely ever portrayed as desirable to any man, and is often mocked by other characters for the way she looks and for her intelligence. Similarly to the female characters, Fred and Shaggy are portrayed as contrasting characters. Fred is the embodiment of hegemonic masculinity. He is tall, muscular, popular, brave, and athletic. To contrast this, there is Shaggy who is also tall, but skinny, unkempt, lazy, and cowardly.
