Introduction
 I have now got to the point where I can begin
planning my film in more depth and decide on
the marketing strategy. I will now begin to
make decisions on things such as casting,
format of release and unique selling point etc.
This will help me in the creation of my trailer as
I will have a better understanding of what
Similar Existing Titles
 American Crime – 2004: This is an existing
crime thriller fairly similar to my title. The
film contains elements of action and
violence, following a similar narrative to
mind. A team must unearth evidence that
will help them discover who murdered
two victims. By looking at this title I will be
able to add to my ideas and see just how
the film has been created.
 Memento – 2000: This film contains aspects of
crime and mystery, fitting in well with the narrative
of my film. The film begins with a montage,
starting with a polaroid photograph of a dead body
developing in rewind, ending up in its undeveloped
state again. The film continually makes the
audience feel on edge, with telephone calls off
unknown people and many elements of violence
and attack. This is similar to the way my film makes
the audience feel, adding tension and drama to the
overall narrative.
Similar Existing Titles
 Nine Dead – 2009: This film is one that I have previously looked at
on my blog, analysing the trailer. The plot is very similar to the
one I came up with, with victims being kidnapped and held in a
bunker. This makes the audience feel fear throughout the film,
almost as if they don’t know what is going to happen next, an
element of surprise. I want my film narrative to have this affect on
my audience as it is a typical convention of a crime thriller.
Although the overall narrative is different to mine and the reason
the victims have been kidnapped is different, it is a good film to
look at when it comes to seeing the sorts of shots to use in my
trailer and to identify the pace I should be using.
 The Departed – 2006: The film contains
elements of terror, victimisation and crime
throughout the film and aspects of police
and detective work. This is very similar to
my plot as throughout I follow the police
working towards finding the kidnapped
victim before the time runs out. This film is
fast paced, similar to how I have visualised
my trailer to be.
