Mark McKew undertook an on-farm greenhouse gas audit of his 654 hectare sheep and beef property in Western Victoria. The audit was conducted as part of a larger project involving 15 local farms. The audit found the property's main emissions sources were from sheep production, beef production, and electricity/fuel use. It also showed revegetation on the property was removing carbon from the atmosphere. Based on the results, McKew plans to reduce cattle numbers, increase revegetation, and monitor soil carbon to work towards becoming carbon neutral through further reducing emissions and increasing carbon storage on the farm.
