Information Technology is driving transformative pedagogy in both lower and higher education institutions. This paper discusses internet usage patterns among university academics before advancing to explore how to improve these aspects in the context of education. This descriptive survey collected data from a random sample of 440 university academics in Zimbabwe. Academics use the internet for research more than they did for teaching purposes. Statistical analysis of data revealed gender differences in internet access. Age and experience were found to explain differences in usage among university academics. Educational implications of these findings in relation to advancing development of 21st century skills through Information Technology in tomorrow’s leadership and drivers of country’s economic growth were highlighted. The study recommends a transformation of university teaching practice through technology based holistic models that encompass creative and innovative Webogogy and facilitative content delivery for better performance in higher educational institutions. The paper advocates for university management to promote Technology based teaching practice in universities, fund and develop formal training programmes to upgrade internet search and webagogy skills of academics.

Africa has received little investment in ICT compared to other regions, negatively impacting the integration of e-learning. A Study of User Interaction with Context Aware Notifications from a Moodle Le...
This paper reports on a user study to gauge user interaction with RSS based mobile electronic updates from a Moodle based virtual learning environment. The mobile reception of such information can be received in three dimensions of context: time, location and activity. With the active participation of fifteen students, the project aims to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of these context dimensions by comparing the level of user engagement initially across one academic term. The mobile updates relate to teaching material, course work feedback, and general announcements from academic staff across the University’s academic departments. As well as user profiling when interaction with the updates, early investigations show that there exists peak times when users interact with these applications. Initial results indicate that interactions occurred generally during office hours and within the confines of the campus environment, although uses of the activity based application were recorded also in informal locations outside of working hours. The results also show that time based electronic updates are the most popular, engagement wise, when compared to location and activity.

A comparative analysis of print versus electronic

This can be employed to aid student’s participation in research studies. This study aims at promoting-research in universities amongst students by giving them the opportunity to exercise their scholarly abilities, easy access to research projects carried out by other students, collaboration with other students with similar research inclinations as well as gain visibility before the school management or companies interested in granting scholarships to outstanding works. This project is implemented using JavaScript, HTML and CSS for the front-end; Node.js, a JavaScript framework for the back-end and MongoDB for the database. It is a web application that enables the students to upload their research works, view the research of others and collaborate with peers. This system has a high potential to enhance student participation in universities’ research studies.

This paper presents a webometric analysis of the academic search
engine result pages (SERPs) of the Chinese-language term of
“Wikipedia” across major Chinese-speaking regions of mainland
China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Because of the academic
outcome, the findings can also be interpreted for further metaanalysis,
or “research about research”, of the Wikipedia research
in Chinese-language literatures. The findings cover the results
from four major search platforms: CNKI Scholar, Google Scholar
China, Google Scholar Hong Kong and Google Scholar Taiwan.
Cross tabulation of the results shows the major institutions
(journals and academic departments) and scholarly archives for
Chinese-language Wikipedia research. The findings suggest that
there exists a divide between mainland Chinese academic
sources/search results on one hand, and Hong Kong/Taiwanese
ones on the other. Meta-analysis based on academic SERPs have
implications for identifying the gaps and potentials in
internationalization of Wikipedia research.

This paper presents a case study of information engagement based on microblog posts gathered from Sina Weibo and Twitter that mentioned the two major Chinese-language user-generated encyclopaedias. The content analysis shows that microblog users not only engaged in public discussions by using and citing both encyclopaedias, but also shared their perceptions and experiences more generally with various online platforms and China’s filtering/censorship regime to which user-generated content and activities are subjected. This exploratory study thus raises several research and practice questions on the links between public discussions and information engagement on user-generated platforms.

Impact of internet on reading habits

there exists a divide between mainland Chinese academic
sources/search results on one hand, and Hong Kong/Taiwanese
ones on the other. Meta-analysis based on academic SERPs have
implications for identifying the gaps and potentials in
internationalization of Wikipedia research.

Google Forms is a free online survey tool that allows users to design and distribute web-based questionnaires. The paper discusses how Google Forms was used to design and distribute a survey on employability of library science graduates. A questionnaire on graduates' employment status and skills was created in Google Forms and distributed via an online forum and Facebook. Over 70 graduates responded online, with their responses automatically recorded in a spreadsheet for analysis. While online surveys have advantages, issues like sample selection, technology variations, and privacy must be considered, especially in developing countries with lower internet access.

ABSTRACT
This paper presents a case study of information engagement based on microblog posts gathered from Sina Weibo and Twitter that mentioned the two major Chinese-language user-generated encyclopaedias. The content analysis shows that microblog users not only engaged in public discussions by using and citing both encyclopaedias, but also shared their perceptions and experiences more generally with various online platforms and China’s filtering/censorship regime to which user-generated content and activities are subjected. This exploratory study thus raises several research and practice questions on the links between public discussions and information engagement on user-generated platforms.

This study investigated the information seeking behavior of 75 faculty members and 50 students at Great Lakes Institute of Management regarding their use of electronic information resources. The key findings were:
- 100% of faculty and students were aware of available electronic resources like e-journals, databases, e-books, etc.
- 72% of faculty and 54% of students had a high level of knowledge about electronic resources.
- 40% of faculty and 26% of students accessed electronic resources daily for information retrieval.

Impact of internet on reading habits

In particular, Internet researchers can improve efficiency of data analysis within a specified timeframe using this tool. This paper illustrates how to use WeboNaver and tries to verify the usability and reliability through several case studies. In this article, Korean National Assembly Members’ web presence was analyzed, as was the web presence of the term H1N1.
Web 2.0의 도래와 함께 Open API를 응용한 소프트웨어 프로그램이 등장하면서 더 이상 사용자들은 웹에서 정보를 수동으로 검색하면서 일일이 살펴보는 번거로움을 겪지 않아도 된다. 공개된 API를 활용해 몇 번의 간단한 조작으로 방대한 데이터를 체계적으로 수집하고 관리할 수 있다. 본 논문은 Open API를 응용해 개발한 검색전문 프로그램 WeboNaver(Webometrics Tool for Naver)를 소개한다. 이는 한국에서 가장 영향력 있는 검색엔진 중의 하나인 네이버를 이용해 방대한 데이터를 카테고리별로 자동수집하여 저장해주는 프로그램이다. 연구자들은 이를 활용해 데이터 관리와 처리, 분석 과정에 정확성과 고도의 효율성을 기할 수 있을 것이다. 논문의 목적은 WeboNaver의 사용을 원하는 학생, 일반인, 연구자의 이해를 돕고자 실제 사례들을 통하여 분석절차를 구체적으로 제시해 그 유용성을 입증하는 것이다. 이 프로그램을 사용하여 18대 국회의원 292명의 웹가시성을 조사하였다. 또한 신종플루와 관련된 단어들의 웹 가시성을 분석하였다.

Augmented reality takes existing visual or video information and adds additional layers of computer-generated graphics, pattern recognition, and other visual effects. This session will highlight how the University of Houston Libraries and other types of libraries are using these technologies to promote, market, outreach, teach, and engage with users in new and exciting ways.

Studying Social Science Using E Tools
This document summarizes research using digital tools to study social science in South Korea and Taiwan. It describes how e-research allows the automation of research processes and analysis of new data sources like social media. Two case studies are presented: one analyzing politicians' use of the microblogging site Plurk in Taiwan, finding progressive politicians used it more; the other examining the changing network structures of South Korean politicians from Web 1.0 homepages to Web 2.0 blogs to Twitter, finding networks became denser over time. This document summarizes a research study analyzing the content of tweets sent by politicians from several countries including Korea, the UK, US and Canada. The researchers gathered Twitter data for the politicians using an API tool and conducted a preliminary content analysis of tweets from Korean politicians. They categorized the tweets into three types: socio-political messages about events and policies, private personal messages, and conversational messages intended for others using the "@" feature. The results of their content analysis on 878 tweets from Korean politicians found statistically significant differences in the frequencies of these three tweet types.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
