Libraries are described as a public service sector as according to Lunn they “provide recreation that because
of its nature continually reinforces values and ideals of establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to the
user” (Lunn, 2021, p 3).
Libraries are a great way to relax along with getting homework and studies done. This helps maintain a
healthy lifestyle. They also “provide those opportunities deemed valuable by society (i.e., an urban park or
open space – that because of their nature – cost compared to potential income generation – would not be
provided by the private sector)”(Lunn,2021, p 3).
Libraries provide many opportunites and allow the public to gain knowledge through computers and books.

families.
“To provide opportunities for recreation to disadvantaged clients: the poor, persons with physical or mental
disabilities, etc” (Lunn, 2021, p 3). Animal shelters can help animals that have had to struggle in life.
Furthermore, a dog can bring so much happiness to one family helping to contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

government and offers the general public an affordable way to enjoy recreation and leisure and “act as a
catalyst for recreation development in the community” (Lunn, 2021, p.5).
The leisure center offers many activities including swimming to the general public. Furthermore the
recreation center encourages the community “to promote health and well-being through recreation and
sport” (Lunn, 2021,p 4).
Overall the maple ridge leisure center is great for playing basketball, working out, or swimming with
friends and has a positive impact on the community in recreation and leisure.

“Recreation for which the consumer pays and for which the supplier expects to make a profit” (MacLean, Peterson, &

Olympians Gym is an indoor commercial recreation service that provides consumers of any age, gender and ethnic
background entertainment through fitness (Lunn, 2021). Olympians Gym website states “Olympians Gym is a tight knit
community looking to discover their full potential in the gym through bonding with like-minded individuals and learning

To excel in fitness, health, mind and body, you need to create the right environment filled with positive, hard working,
and encouraging allies. This is the environment at Olympians. Becoming an Olympian means pushing past your limits to
become the best version of yourself by constantly striving to improve!” (Olympians, 2021, p 1).

businesses, serve public good of some kind (i.e., clearly not much “profit”) in order to retain control; primarily
