Map Kibera is a project to map the Kibera slum area of Nairobi, Kenya using OpenStreetMap. The project partners with local community groups and NGOs to train young residents to map Kibera themselves using GPS devices and satellite imagery. Volunteers from Nairobi and the global tech community also participate. The goal is to create an accurate, up-to-date map of Kibera since it is currently a blank spot on most maps. Once complete, the map and data will be used by local residents, organizations, and governments to improve services and access within Kibera.
