MANAGERIAL PLANNING
 Planning (also called forethought) is the process
of thinking about and organizing the activities
required to achieve a desired goal.
 Planning involves the creation and maintenance of
a plan. As such, planning is a fundamental
property of intelligent behavior. 
TYPES OF MANAGERIAL PLANNING
 OPERATIONAL PLANS : The specific results expected from departments, work
groups, and individuals are the operational goals
DIFFERENT TYPES OF OPERATIONAL PLANS
 A. single use
 B. continuing
 C. policy
 D. procedure
 E. rule
 TACTICAL PLAN : A tactical plan is concerned with what
the lower level units within each division
must do, how they must do it, and who
is in charge at each level.
 STRATEGIC PLAN : A strategic plan is an outline of steps
designed with the goals of the entire
organization as a whole in mind,
rather than with the goals of specific
divisions or departments. Strategic
planning begins with an organization's
mission.
 CONTIGENCY PLANS : Contingency planning involves
identifying alternative courses of
action that can be implemented if
and when the original plan proves
inadequate because of changing
circumstances.
SCOPE OF MANAGERIAL PLANNING
 A good managerial plan ensures only the work
that needs to be done in a company is done. It is
the duty of the manager to see to it that he uses
all his resources , plans and ideas in a way
wherein which is in the scope of his
management/managerial plans!
