This is a presentation I plan on delivering regarding a blog I used to do for my academic departments @ the University of Johannesburg.
It talks about what to blog about & shows examples, rather than discussing what blogs are and why to use them.
A quick pedagogy for teachers who'd like to create one period webquests to facilitate info lit skills, tech literacy skills and mutliple content-area skills all at once.
1 hour 45 minute slideshow accompanying a wiki workshop -- Note: Most of this presntation is screen demos that are not included in the slideshow but done live.
A Practical Guide to Innovation Accounting by Tendayi Viki, Founder & Princip...Lean Startup Co.
This talk will cover how innovators can track and measure success using the right tools and metrics. It will explore how teams in the trenches can track the success of their business models via the experiments they will be running, as well as how innovation accounting can be done at the management and strategy levels. Learn how leaders at management level can make ongoing investment decisions of whether to double-down or divest from specific innovation projects. At the strategy level, learn how company leaders can measure the impact of innovation on their company as whole. Practical tips and guides, as well as examples from several companies, will be provided.
Presented at VermontFest November 2008, this presentation describes a 5-day web 2.0 summer institute for teachers at Spaulding High School in Barre, VT.
Keep It Suitably Simple: Leading scaled change management & upskilling across academia & University resources for rapid online learning deployment across 50,000 students. A presentation at the Online & E-Learning Virtual Summit. 19-20 May 2020
Presentation shared by author at the 2015 EDEN Open Classroom Conference "Open Discovery Space: Transforming schools into innovative learning organisations" held on 18-21 September 2015, in Athens, Greece.

Don’t want to develop your new course from scratch, but you’d rather reuse what others have already created? Have you ever considered integrating a MOOC in your campus course? In this practical workshop you’ll create your open course design. You will learn where to find educational resources available for reuse and how to integrate them (including MOOCs) in your course design.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

4. So what is OER?
“Open Educational Resources (OERs) are any type of educational
materials that are in the public domain or introduced with an
open license. The nature of these open materials means that
anyone can legally and freely copy, use, adapt and re-share them.
OERs range from textbooks to curricula, syllabi, lecture notes,
assignments, tests, projects, audio, video and animation.”

6. Affordable, Free, Open
Affordable: $50 or under or 75% cost reduction
Free: Able to access; some restrictions apply.
Open: Capable of leveraging the 5 Rs.

8. Creative Commons Licensing

to a work so that users can
freely use with limited
restrictions.

15. Benefits of OER
For Faculty
● Editing & updating
capabilities
● Control of versions
● Flexible content
● Expansive choice
● New teaching strategies
For Students
● Costly textbooks
● Can’t or Won’t Buy
● 1st Day Access or Earlier
● Permanent Access
● Wider range of learning

● Ancillary materials
● Classrooms are just like mathematical formulas
“No excuses to skip the work”
● OER as punitive
● Open does not equal accessible (but it should!)
“This will go great.”
● Mistakes happen
● OER is reiterative

18. Some tips about implementing OER
1. Take it slow (as best you can)
2. Choose wisely & selectively
3. Avoid “Fair-Use” assumptions
4. Make sure it’s accessible.
5. Try it out on platforms
6. Mention it in the syllabus/class
7. Direct students to places for access.
8. Use your resources: dept, instructional designers, librarians,
disability services
9. Anticipate & be flexible with hiccups
